WILLIAM J. KELLY
— Kelly says passage of Secret Illinois Sanctuary State Bill a Stab in the Back
http://www.williamjkelly.org/news/kelly-says-passage-of-secret-illinois-sanctuary-state-bill-a-stab-in-the-back
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The Illinois state house quietly passed the Illinois Trust Act, a sanctuary state bill, 62-49 recently. Not that a single Illinois voter knows about it – other than non-citizen “voters” being organized by the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR) to lobby for its passage. Illinois politicians have devised a legislative euphemism, the “Illinois Trust Act,” to keep the bill quiet. In fact, ICIRR organizers say they intentionally avoided the word, “sanctuary.” Perhaps Springfield pols fear the wrath of downstate voters who supported Donald Trump by 79% margins in blue state Illinois; if voters actually knew what was in the bill, there would be political hell to pay. William J. Kelly, Republican candidate for Governor, has issued the following statement: Illinois politicians passed this secret legislation on Memorial Day and it’s the ultimate stab in the back to all the soldiers who gave their lives to keep America a sovereign country. Politicians, who want the illegal immigration vote, want to keep the Illinois Trust Act hush-hush. Gov. Rauner, a liberal Republican who is pals with Rahm Emanuel, is afraid to talk about the Trust Act and refuses to discuss it. Supporters of this bill claim it will make immigrants feel more secure. But who has more of a right to feel secure in their own state? Illegal immigrants or legal citizens? The Illinois Trust Act isn’t intended to help legal citizens feel more secure; it is intended for people who are breaking laws and illegally siphoning welfare and medical benefits from the American citizens who need it most – the poor, the homeless, and the disabled. This is a sanctuary state bill and Gov. Rauner is afraid of offending illegal immigrants, refugees, and their supporters? Too bad he’s not as worried about offending U.S. citizens and Illinois voters – at least the legal ones.)

— Why many minimum wage workers in suburbs won’t be getting a raise July 1 – Christopher Placek  (DIERSEN: What raises have you gotten? During the almost 30 years that I worked for the federal government, my salary increased every year because of COLAs, step increases, and/or promotions, except 1980 when I took an $18,847 (21%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO.  In today’s dollars, I earned $15.56/hour (GS-4 Step 1) when I started working for the Post Office in 1966 when I was 18; $44,853/year (GS-7 Step 1) when I started working for IRS in 1971; $90,173/year (GS-12 Step 5) when I left IRS in 1980; $71,326/year (GS-9 Step 10) when I started working for GAO in 1980; and $122,991/year (GS-13 Step 10) when my Democrat GAO superiors succeeded in forcing me to take their early retirement “offer” in 1997. My critics/opponents have always accused me of being overpaid. In my defense, I earned a) a job-related bachelor’s degree when I was 21 and job-related master’s degrees when I was 27, 31, and 48, b) job-related professional certifications when I was 30, 32, 41, 45, 47, and 48, and c) a job-related professional license when I was 32.)

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpost/wp/2017/06/26/greater-savings-options-for-feds-draw-praise-while-move-to-cut-their-retirement-looms/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: For federal employees accustomed to elected leaders focused on firing feds faster and bashing their benefits, here’s a little something to cheer. Bipartisan legislation in the House and Senate would update the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), a 401(k)-type program for federal employees, by allowing them greater flexibility in withdrawing their funds. This might not sound like much compared to news about federal retirement cuts in President Trump’s proposed fiscal 2018 budget and the movement to undermine civil service protections. (FROM THE ARTICLE: These days, having $1 million just isn’t “wealthy” enough.  A recent survey of over 1,000 Americans shows the bar has shifted higher. Now you need an average of $2.4 million to be considered a wealthy person in America, according to the survey by Charles Schwab, which surveyed Americans aged 21 to 75. Of course, few people achieve such a milestone. Only about 10% of Americans are worth $1 million or more, according to a 2017 report by investor research firm Spectrem Group. In fact, to be considered wealthy by this new criteria, you’d need to have about 30 times more than the approximately $80,000 net worth of the average U.S. household, according to the most recent data collected by the U.S. Census Bureau.)

June 17 Morning Edtion

GOPUSA ILLINOIS
— In 2018, which Republican candidates are going to run for federal, state, and county offices in DuPage County?  Who does Rauner want to run for Attorney General, Comptroller, Secretary of State, and Treasurer?  I urge all of them to have an entry in Wheaton’s 2017 Independence Day Parade. SEE:
https://www.eventbrite.com/e/2017-independence-day-celebration-parade-entry-tickets-31882733113  So far, Bob Berlin for State’s Attorney, Peter Breen for State Representative, Grant Eckhoff for County Board, Jeanne Ives for State Representative, James Mendrick for County Sheriff, Peter Roskam for Congress, and Milton Township Republican Central Committee have entries. This year, for the 12th year in a row, I have sought donations from Republicans so that “DuPage Republicans” can again be one of the two $2,500 “Star” sponsors and again sponsor the Wheaton high school bands and the Tunes of Glory Pipes and Drums parade entries and again have a booth at the July 3 fireworks.  Outstandingly, again this year Tim Whelan will coordinate Republican use of the booth at the fireworks. This year again, I will hand deliver flyers to the residences and businesses on the parade route that will list the Republican entries in the parade and the Republicans who helped sponsor entries. Outstandingly, the flyers will be printed courtesy of Alpha Graphics. This year, outstandingly, Roger Claar is a $500 contributor, Chris Nybo is a $250 contributor, Phil Suess is a $150 contributor, and Bob Berlin, Peter Breen, Mike Connelly, Grant Eckhoff, Tim Elliott, Amy Grant, Gwen Henry, Paul Hinds, Jeanne Ives, Marty Keller, Paula McGowen, Deanne Mazzochi, James Mendrick, Peter Roskam, Darlene Ruscitti, and Tim Whelan are $100 contributors. Please plan on watching the 22-minute fireworks Monday evening July 3 at Graf Park, and stopping the DuPage County Republicans booth.  Please plan on watching the parade on Tuesday morning July 4 or walking in the parade with one of the Republican entries. If you want to walk with one of the Republican entries, I suggest being at the staging area on north Main Street at 9:00 AM.  SEE: https://wheatonparkdistrict.com/events/july4/ – Dave Diersen

During the first 6 years and the last 9 years of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, my Democrat superiors refused to assign me to audits of IRS, that is, they wasted my knowledge of IRS. If I had been a Democrat, a minority, a female, or a veteran, they would not have done that.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: THE NEW YORK DAILY NEWS: “President Trump chooses inexperienced woman who planned his son Eric’s wedding to run N.Y. federal housing programs,” by Greg Smith: “She’s arranged tournaments at Trump golf courses, served as the liaison to the Trump family during his presidential campaign, and even arranged Eric Trump’s wedding. Now President Trump has appointed longtime loyalist Lynne Patton — who has zero housing experience and claims a law degree the school says she never earned — to run the office that oversees federal housing programs in New York.)

USA TODAY
— Facebook taps artificial intelligence in new push to block terrorist propaganda – Jessica Guynn  (DIERSEN: My critic/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have always hinted/implied/argued/shouted that my GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails are full of propaganda. HARVARD BUSINESS REVIEW
— When Leaders Are Hired for Talent but Fired for Not Fitting In – Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic and Clarke Murphy  (DIERSEN: How could you have “fit in” better where you worked?  I would have fit in better if I a) had become a Democrat, b) had painted myself as being a yes-man, c) had helped my superiors get rid of their employees who were Republican, White, male, older, and/or non-veteran, d) had not complained about patronage, political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, age discrimination, or retaliation for complaining about the aforesaid, and e) had not become an active member in a class action lawsuit that charged my employer with reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation.)
https://hbr.org/2017/06/when-leaders-are-hired-for-talent-but-fired-for-not-fitting-in
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Understand their own organizational culture: Knowing a leader’s motives and values is pointless unless organizations are also able to decode their own culture. Sadly, most organizations underestimate the importance of accurately profiling their culture so they end up relying on intuitive and unrealistic ideas that say more about what they would like to be than what they actually are. This is why a large number of companies today describe themselves as “entrepreneurial,” “innovative,” “results-oriented,” or “diverse,” even when their own employees perceive a very different type of culture. Well-designed climate surveys, which crowdsource people’s views and experiences of the organizational culture, are a much better indicator of a company’s true values than the aspirational competencies curated by senior executives.)

FEDERAL NEWS RADIO
— 100 House Democrats voice opposition to Trump’s proposed federal retirement cuts – Nicole Ogrysko  (DIERSEN: If I sought a government job or a political job, my “Republican” critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes would viciously demonize me, viciously denigrate me, and viciously condemn me as someone who was in line for Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) pension since 1966 when I was 18 and who has been getting a CSRS pension since 1997 when I was 49.)
https://federalnewsradio.com/congress/2017/06/100-house-democrats-voice-opposition-to-trumps-proposed-federal-retirement-cuts/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: “These are highly skilled and dedicated public servants,” members of Congress wrote. “Taking their pensions away and gutting their pay would have the effect of pushing those skilled people out of the civil service and impairing the recruitment of new talent.” . . . But these proposals are particularly offensive, lawmakers said, because they would impact current and future retirees, not just prospective federal employees. “This breaks a promise to current federal employees and retirees,” they wrote. “We should not alter policies that families have planned their lives around, particularly when it affects current retirees with limited ability to make up for unforeseen reductions in expected income.” Several federal employee unions and organizations have adamantly voiced their own concerns over the president’s retirement proposals. “In exchange for years of hard work over long careers, our government made a commitment to middle-class federal and postal workers in the form of modest federal pensions in retirement,” the coalition said. “Those pensions are not gifts; they were earned. Diminishing their value in any way for current employees and retirees fails to honor the commitments made to our public servants.”)
