THE HILL
— Rauner: Protesting NFL players are ‘disrespecting the foundations of our country’ – AVERY ANAPOL
http://thehill.com/homenews/state-watch/352237-illinois-governor-protesting-nfl-players-are-disrespecting-the
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Illinois governor Bruce Rauner said that NFL players protesting the National Anthem are “disrespecting” the flag, country, and anthem. The governor weighed in on the controversy to Politico after Sunday’s NFL game at Chicago’s Soldier Field. The entirety of the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers stayed in the locker room during the National Anthem, except for one player. “To me they are disrespecting the foundations of our country, the veterans who risked their lives for our democracy, and the men and women who fight every day and make the ultimate sacrifice to defend our liberties,” Rauner said through a spokesman. Rauner has a financial stake in the Steelers, according to Politico. The Republican governor said he did not condone the Steelers’ behavior, but that the First Amendment guarantees the right of players to “choose to be disrespectful.” “Our country is great because it guarantees freedom of expression,” Rauner said. President Trump has heavily criticized players for kneeling during the anthem to protest racial inequality. At an Alabama Senate campaign rally on Friday night, he called for NFL owners to fire athletes who protest the National Anthem, prompting several instances of players kneeling or staying in locker rooms during the anthem across the nation this weekend. The Chicago Bears stayed on the field during the anthem, linking arms in a display of unity while remaining standing. A team statement from the Bears said that the “divisive political situation” that the protests have brought on have unified the NFL by prompting dialogue between  “The Chicago Bears are proud to support our players, coaches and all members of our organization to bring peace and unity together through football,” the statement reads. “What makes this the greatest country in the world are the liberties it was founded upon and the freedom to express oneself in a respectful and peaceful manner.”)

But unlike other merit-based immigration proposals that limit new immigrants from entering the country based on their job skills, this proposal would limit who can remain in the country based on their years of American education, work experience or military service. “Choosing between either mass deportation of Dreamers or blanket amnesty is a false choice,” the lawmakers argue, according to the talking points. “There is a third option: an organized process by which talented and hard-working young Americans can earn legal status.” All applicants will have to pass a medical examination and be “extreme vetted.” The vetting will include three separate rounds of security and background checks to ensure they have no criminal history and pose no national security threat. The first check would happen when the immigrant enters the program followed by a second check after five years. The third check comes after 15 years, if and when the immigrant applies to become a citizen.)

— Former Bears Star Charles Tillman Trying to Join FBI – James Neveau  (DIERSEN: If the FBI offers Tillman a job and he takes it, I hope that Tillman does better working for the FBI than I did working for the Democrats who run GAO. In 1980, when I was 31 years old, after working for IRS for almost 9 years, the last 5 1/2 years of which at the GS-12 Step 1-5 levels, currently $79,563-$90,173, I transferred to GAO. I had earned an MBA from Loyola in 1976, I had passed the CPA examination on my first attempt in 1979, and I had almost completed the requirements for a master’s degree in accounting from DePaul. The Democrats who ran GAO offered me a transfer, but only if I took an $18,847 (21%) pay cut in today’s dollars, from GS-12 Step 5 down to GS-9 Step 10. The Democrats who ran GAO would not have required that if I had been a Democrat, a minority, a female, or a veteran. Much of what I did for IRS was very similar to what I would do for GAO. GAO audits IRS. In 1987, my Democrat GAO superiors got rid of the GAO manager who had arranged my transfer, who had finally been able to get me assigned to audits of IRS in 1986, and who had gotten me promoted to GS-13 Step 1, currently $94,610, in 1986. My GAO superiors kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 (1986-1988) of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, did not promote me beyond GS-13, always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, and forced me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old. They would not have done that if I had been a Democrat, a minority, a female, or a veteran.)

http://nprillinois.org/post/illinois-issues-we-have-met-enemy-and-he-us#stream/0
(FROM THE ARTICLE: As the governor and legislature have grappled in a historic death match over their views of how to sync our policy desires and our resources, many wonder if there is something especially daunting about budgeting in the Prairie State. One major problem is democracy. The logic of representative democracy is that policymakers want election or re-election and they maximize their chances by reflecting their constituents’ wishes. In this era of instant communication and frequent opinion polling, our leaders know what we want and we know what they are doing. Some even argue that this generates hyper-representation, precluding policymakers’ careful thought and independent analysis. So, what are Illinoisans’ views on state government taxing and spending? The Paul Simon Public Policy Institute at Southern Illinois University conducted a poll in March 2017 that gives us considerable insight into this and the budgetary puzzle that results. “Don’t tax me; don’t tax thee”)

http://www.theblaze.com/news/2017/09/20/apple-ceo-wishes-everyone-loved-america-like-dreamers-do/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Apple CEO Tim Cook said in an interview that it was inhuman to deny amnesty to those who were brought into the country illegally as children. What did he say exactly? “I think it’s the biggest issue of our time,” he said when asked about illegal immigrants. “Because this goes to the values of being American.” “This is, ‘are we human?’” he said. “Are we acting in a track of morality?” he continued. “These people if you haven’t met them, at Apple we have many that came when they were two years old, they didn’t make a decision to come. They came here, they only know our country, this is their home, they love America deeply, when you talk to them, I wish everyone in America loved America this much.” “They have jobs, they pay taxes, they are pillars of their communities,” Cook added. “They’re incredible people. And so to me it would be like someone coming to Mike, and saying Mike I just found out you’re not really a citizen here you need to leave.” “This is unacceptable, this is not who we are as a country and so I am personally shocked that there’s even a discussion of this,” he said. “This is one of those things when it is so clear, and it’s not a political thing, or at least I don’t see it like that at all.” “This is about basic human dignity and respect, it is that simple and straightforward,” he added. “On the broader issue of immigration,” he continued, “if I was a country leader right now my goal would be to monopolize the world’s talent. I’d want every smart person coming to my country, because smart people create jobs and jobs is the ultimate thing that create a great environment in a country a land of opportunity, a land where everybody can do well if you work hard.” “These are the things that drive people,” he concluded, “it gives people a sense of purpose, and uh so, I’d have a very aggressive plan, not just to let a few people in, I would be recruiting.”)

— Raoul enters AG race, apologizes for ‘Miss America’ comment – Bernard Schoenburg
http://www.sj-r.com/news/20170920/raoul-enters-ag-race-apologizes-for-miss-america-comment
(FROM THE ARTICLE: State Sen. Kwame Raoul, D-Chicago, who says he will run for attorney general in 2018, on Wednesday apologized for how he referred to Republican candidate Erika Harold when discussing the office last week. “I’ve seen the reaction to the comment that I made, and I don’t blame anybody for being offended,” Raoul told The State Journal-Register. “If I read them without the full context of our full conversation, I would have the same reaction. … I take full responsibility for the bad characterization.” Raoul told the newspaper on Friday, after Democratic Attorney General Lisa Madigan announced she would not seek another term, that “I think Lisa would have acquitted herself well against Miss America. I don’t know what’s behind the attorney general’s decision … but I doubt seriously it was any fear of Erika Harold.” Harold, of Urbana, was the 2003 Miss America, and is also a graduate of Harvard Law School, and now practices law. The story yielded a statement from state Rep. Jeanne Ives, R-Wheaton, calling Raoul’s statement “blatant and belittling sexism.” “As a cadet at West Point and a woman in the political arena, I have spent much of my career fighting the dismissive, condescending sexism Senator Raoul so brazenly exhibited in his attempt to frame Ms. Harold as ‘just a pretty face,’” Ives said. “I do apologize, first off to Erika Harold, because … I don’t think it’s a small accomplishment to be Miss America,” Raoul said Wednesday. “In addition, her academic credentials are exceptional.” He said the point he was making in the full conversation last week was that he didn’t think Madigan was scared out of the race. “I think my record and people who know me demonstrates that I’m not a sexist,” Raoul said. “But I do apologize, first off to Erika Harold and to anybody else who took my comments to be intended to be demeaning to Miss Harold.”)

ILLINOIS REVIEW
— DISCUSSION: SHOULD REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES UPHOLD THE IL GOP PLATFORM? (DIERSEN: I served on the 2008 Illinois Republican Party (IRP) Platform and Resolutions Committee. Political parties exist to help elect candidates who can and will defend and advance their platform. In Illinois, if you have not and/or if you are not going to defend and advance the IRP platform, you should not seek or hold any kind of government office or political office as a Republican. In Illinois, when Republican elected officials and/or party leaders fail or refuse to defend and advance the IRP platform, the IRP should not only work against them, the IRP should censure them or remove them from the office(s) that they hold. In Illinois, when Republican candidates fail or refuse to commit to defend and advance the IRP platform, the IRP should not only work against them, the IRP should have the power to remove them from the ballot.)
http://illinoisreview.typepad.com/illinoisreview/2017/09/should-republican-candidates-uphold-the-il-gop-platform-.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Delegates representing the party’s rank and file at the 2016 Illinois Republican Convention resoundingly embraced the Platform Committee’s recommended planks. Last year’s most controversial plank was the party’s view on upholding traditional marriage. Observers counted nearly 85 percent of the delegates supporting one-man, one-woman marriage. A subsequent vote on the whole platform confirmed the delegates support for the platform. But since that time, there has been a growing discussion about just how important – or unimportant – a political party’s platform is. . .How important is the IL GOP’s party platform? Do you think candidates should hold to the planks if they are elected? Or is it merely a suggestion and irrelevant as a whole? Please comment either here on Illinois Review’s website or on Illinois Review’s Facebook page. Your ideas matter.)

— Life is so easy now that teens aren’t growing up as fast – Aaron Colen  (DIERSEN: What did you accomplish by the time you were 32?  Shortly after I turned 16 in 1964, I got a drivers license, bought a 1958 Chevy BelAir, and got a part-time job washing dishes. I bought my first new car when I was 17. I graduated debt-free from NIU with a bachelor’s degree in management when I was 21. I bought a new Corvette when I was 23. I bought a new town home in University Park when I was 24. I bought a studio condo in the Outer Drive East building in downtown Chicago when I was 25 and a one bedroom condo in that building when I was 27. I earned an MBA from Loyola when I was 27 and a master’s degree in accounting from DePaul when I was 31.  I passed the CPA examination on my first attempt when I was 30. I passed the Certified Internal Auditor examination on my first attempt when I was 32.  I became a licensed CPA when I was 32. I got married when I was 29 and we bought 1017 East Harrison in Wheaton when I was 29.)

Democrats use Affirmative Action, Diversity, and Inclusion to not hire and to get rid of employees who are Republican, White, male, older, and/or non-veteran.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: FBI guidelines mandate prospective candidates for hiring as a special agent must be at least 23 years old but younger than 37 at the time of appointment. Tillman turns 37 on Feb. 23. “We don’t speak about personnel matters,” special agent Garrett Croon, a spokesman for the Chicago bureau, told the Tribune. Tillman earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Louisiana-Lafayette before the Bears drafted him in the second round in 2003. He grew up in a military family — his father, Donald Tillman Jr., was a sergeant in the Army — and attended 11 schools from kindergarten through 12th grade.)
— Don’t expect a big raise next year, survey says – Robert Channick  (DIERSEN: What raises have you gotten?  My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have always been furious that because of COLAs, step increases, and/or promotions, my salary increased every year that I worked for the federal government 1966-1969 and 1971-1997 except for 1980 when I took an $18,847 (21%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO. In my defense, I earned a) a job-related bachelor’s degree when I was 21 in 1970 and job-related master’s degrees when I was 27, 31, and 48, b) job-related professional certifications when I was 30, 32, 41, 45, 47, and 48, and c) a job-related professional license when I was 32.)

— When you are too old to find any job – Ilana Gershon and Noah Berlatsky (DIERSEN: How old are you?  I will soon be 69. Non-veteran White males who are seeking a job with the federal government should be advised that with only rare exceptions, you will be deemed to be a bad employee, your career will be wasted, and you will be gotten rid of if you do not make GS-13 (currently $94,610) by age 25, GS-14 (currently $111,801) by age 30, GS-15 (currently $131,508) by age 35, and Senior Executive Service (currently $161,900) by age 40. I did not make GS-13 until I was 38 and I was never promoted beyond that. My Democrat GAO superiors forced me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, did not promote me beyond GS-13, kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and forced me to take an $18,847 (21%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980.  My Democrat IRS superiors did not promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, and disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974.  My Democrat Post Office superiors forced me resign in 1969 and disallowed my sick leave requests in 1969 and 1968.)

— Learning to appreciate the ‘Vietnam syndrome’ – Clarence Page  (DIERSEN: How did Vietnam impact you? Since 1966, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have hinted/implied/argued/shouted at my superiors, supervisors, coworkers, subordinates, and everyone else a) that to avoid being sent to Vietnam, I was a full-time student at UIC 1966-1968 and at NIU 1969-1970 and I sought and obtained student draft deferments 1966-1970 and a financial hardship draft deferment 1970-1971; b) that the aforesaid proved that I am a patriotic hypocrite, a coward, and even worse things; and c) that aforesaid proves why I should pay the price of Affirmative Action, Diversity, and Inclusion.  Because I am not a veteran, and therefore I did not get the veterans preference, a) some if not many federal jobs were not offered me, b) the job offer that IRS gave me and that I accepted in 1971 was delayed, and c) my Democrat GAO superiors succeeded in forcing me to take their early retirement “offer” in 1997 when I was 49 years old.  During the 1980s and 1990s, GAO had a written agreement with its employees who were veterans that they would not be adversely impacted by budget cuts or downsizing.)
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opinion/page/ct-perspec-page-vietnam-ken-burns-syndrome-20170920-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: About a dozen of us strolled wearily and unhappily into the Greyhound bus station early that morning on a date that we would never forget. It was Nov. 19, 1969, the date that our government told us to report for the military draft. . .Like most military draftees, as it turned out, I never was sent to Vietnam. But like just about every American who was around at the time, the war had an impact on my life that often drives me to movies, books and documentaries about the period to try to make sense of it. . .I served my two years in the Army and returned home as many did, looking for some silver lining in a war that, as Burns’ documentary shows, did not have to happen. The best I could come up with was to hope that, at least, we Americans had learned enough from our tragedies in Southeast Asia that we won’t make that kind of mistake again. No, we have learned how to make new ones.)

http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2017/09/the_awful_future_that_looms_for_a_majority_of_todays_americans_.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: When it comes to the future, an overwhelming majority of Americans have adopted a mindset that is a variation of Isiah 22:12: “Let us eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow does not matter.”  Recently, federal debt surpassed the $20 Trillion mark (additional state and local debt amount to another $2.9 Trillion). That milestone was greeted by the Ruling Class and a vast preponderance of the citizenry with a yawn and a shrug of the shoulder. As the ongoing determination to promote new entitlement spending and the refusal to rein in, but instead to expand, existing programs continues unabated. Any attempt to seriously discuss the financial fate of the nation is ignored and dismissed with the proviso that its someone else’s problem for another day down the road.  In reality, this dilemma is not someone else’s problem.  The average life expectancy in the United States today is 79.  That means that over 225 million citizens and non-citizens in the country today will still be alive in 30 years.)

The implication is that anything related to whiteness – even the telegraph – shouldn’t be searched for at all, and takes up “space” from the accomplishments of marginalized people. http://www.illinoishomepage.net/news/local-news/could-harold-draw-a-primary-opponent/814082818
(FROM THE ARTICLE: State Senator Jason Barickman, a Bloomington Republican, practices law at Meyer Capel, the same law firm that employs Harold. Barickman shot down rumors that he could run for the attorney general spot, saying, “Erika [Harold] is uniquely positioned in that she is electable statewide and she has great credentials for serving as Illinois’ top attorney. “She’ll be fine if she’s primaried,” Barickman added, “but I’m encouraging Republicans to rally around her now.” Another prominent Republican attorney Kirk Dillard halfway sidestepped direct questions if he might run for the opening. “I’m enjoying overseeing mass transit in Chicagoland where we move over two million riders daily and watching my teenage children grow up,” Dillard said. The former state senator and chairman of the DuPage County Republican Party now oversees the Regional Transportation Authority. He’s also a partner at Locke Lord law firm. “Harold’s chances are excellent,” Dillard said. “She is intelligent, personable and right out of central casting. She will give Democrats fits with her profile. [She] should be given a lot of deference by others because she stood up to run before (emphasis his) Lisa Madigan chose not to run for reelection. Dillard added, “It is also important for the Republicans to put forth a balanced geographic ticket.” While some Republicans are publicly supporting Harold, others are privately wondering if House Minority Leader Jim Durkin could run for the job. Durkin did not respond to questions about the race.)

THE HILL
— The danger of forsaking America’s civil service – BRIAN O’TOOLE
http://thehill.com/opinion/white-house/351237-the-danger-of-forsaking-americas-civil-service
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The recent news that President Trump is cutting back on pay raises for U.S. government employees was just another of many slights to a civil service that has been under siege since Trump launched his campaign pledging to “drain the swamp.”  Whether he and his ideological followers know it, or care, these dedicated professionals are not the swamp. What they are is economists, engineers, intelligence officers, lawyers, park rangers, trade negotiators, and countless others who signed up for government service not to work for one president and his or her policies, but to advance our great nation’s interests. I ought to know.  I joined the Central Intelligence Agency in 2003 to work for an administration whose president I did not vote for and whose policies I often did not support. I did not think twice about doing it; it was fascinating work in service of my country, and in a post-September 11 world when service was celebrated and honorable. But now, I worry that those who would consider government service are thinking twice.  After all, who would want to work for a president who has shown so little regard for the agencies in which they would work and whose supporters, including in the media, rail against a mythical “deep state?” We’re seeing the results of this assault already; Politico reported recently that applications in June for the State Department’s Foreign Service exam, once among the most sought-after opportunities in all of government, fell more than a quarter from the year before. I wonder how many currently in the government want to remain working while constantly being maligned.  Good people are leaving the civil service, not in droves as political appointees do on Inauguration Day, but steadily and surely. Federal government employment has fallen by 11,000 this year, according to the Bureau of Labor statistics, and the administration clearly believes it to be a positive development.  But this drip-drop exodus is draining Washington of the critical expertise and experience necessary to design and execute complex objectives, not of swamp creatures. During the 1990s, due to budget cuts and deprioritization of mission, the CIA lost significant numbers from its ranks; dedicated and talented civil servants who were told they were not needed.  That exodus decimated its institutional capacity, especially in the middle ranks where much of the demanding, technical work of the U.S. government gets done, and from where so many are leaving government now.)

Cox brought Jays Potato Chips. The 200+ attendees included now Congressman Randy Hultgren. Jack Ryan won the primary, but withdrew. His replacement, Alan Keyes lost to Barack Obama.)
http://www.latimes.com/politics/la-pol-john-cox-california-governor-race-20170919-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Cox went on to earn an accounting degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago and later graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology’s Chicago-Kent College of Law. The Illinois law firm he founded in 1981 specializes in tax law, estate planning and corporate law, and is worth upward of $200 million, he says. In the mid-1990s, he was the chief financial officer of a Chicago snack food institution, Jays Foods, helping the family that started the company buy it back from food giant Borden Inc. and putting it back in the black, saving hundreds of jobs. “I’ve hired people, I’ve fired people. I fought the battle. I borrowed money. I dealt with agencies,” Cox said. “Now that doesn’t make me a saint. There’s tons of other people who have done the same thing. But it does give me certain skills that allow me to look at a situation like California is in right now, and say, ‘Hey, here’s the things we need to do.’” The silver-haired 62-year-old moved to the posh San Diego County enclave of Rancho Santa Fe about a decade ago, and now belongs to the New Majority, a group founded primarily by Orange County Republican business executives in order to nudge the state party away from social conservatives. In November, Cox voted for Libertarian Gary Johnson, the former governor of New Mexico, saying he harbored doubts about Donald Trump. Cox now says he backs Trump “100%.”)

— Higher Ed’s Latest Taboo Is ‘Bourgeois Norms’  An op-ed praising 1950s values provokes another campus meltdown— from the deans on down. – Heather Mac Donald  (DIERSEN: When you were young, did you pursue “bourgeois norms?” Shortly after I turned 16 in 1964, I got a drivers license, bought a 1958 Chevy BelAir, and got a part-time job washing dishes. https://www.wsj.com/articles/higher-eds-latest-taboo-is-bourgeois-norms-1505774818
(FROM THE ARTICLE: To the list of forbidden ideas on American college campuses, add “bourgeois norms” — hard work, self-discipline, marriage and respect for authority. Last month, two law professors published an op-ed in the Philadelphia Inquirer calling for a revival of the “cultural script” that prevailed in the 1950s and still does among affluent Americans: “Get married before you have children and strive to stay married for their sake. Get the education you need for gainful employment, work hard, and avoid idleness. . . . Eschew substance abuse and crime.” The weakening of these traditional norms has contributed to today’s low rates of workforce participation, lagging educational levels and widespread opioid abuse, the professors argued. The op-ed triggered an immediate uproar at the University of Pennsylvania, where one of its authors, Amy Wax, teaches.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Google and Facebook, the world’s biggest sellers of online advertising, faced sharp criticism on Friday for allowing advertisers to direct ads to users who searched for or expressed an interest in racist sentiments and hate speech. In response to two separate news reports exposing the issues, both companies said they would change how their systems worked. The criticism began on Thursday after a report from ProPublica, a nonprofit news site, revealed that Facebook enabled advertisers to seek out self-described “Jew haters” and other anti-Semitic topics. The company responded by saying that it would restrict how advertisers targeted their audiences on the social network. On Friday, an article from BuzzFeed reported how Google allowed the sale of ads tied to racist and bigoted keywords, and automatically suggested more offensive terms as part of that process. By midday, Google said it would work harder to halt offensive ads. The incidents added to a growing awareness of the complicated — and powerful — automated advertising systems that have turned Facebook and Google into two of the world’s most valuable companies. The companies have learned how to maximize their ability to connect any size of advertiser to highly tailored groups of people who use their services every day, collecting billions of dollars in the process.)

DAILY CALLER
— No Amnesty Is Good Amnesty – Ann Coulter (DIERSEN: Those who promote amnesty say that those who oppose amnesty are White supremacists, Nazis, KKK members, haters, racists, sexists, bigots, and even worse things.)
http://dailycaller.com/2017/09/13/coulter-no-amnesty-is-good-amnesty/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Donald Trump is being told that amnesty for “Dreamers,” or DACA recipients, will only apply to a small, narrowly defined group of totally innocent, eminently deserving illegal immigrants, who were brought to this country “through no fault of their own” as “children.” (Children who are up to 36 years old.) Every syllable of that claim is a lie, and I can prove it. To see how DACA will actually work, let’s look at another extremely limited amnesty that was passed in 1986. Farmers wanted temporary guest-worker permits for their cheap labor, so that they could continue pretending that the Industrial Revolution never happened and refuse to mechanize. (And, boy, did that work! We haven’t heard a peep about “crops rotting in the fields” since then. The agricultural amnesty was supposed to apply to — at most — 350,000 illegal aliens. It would be available only to illegals who were currently in the country doing the back-breaking farm work that no American would do. Without them, crops would wither on the vine. They were saving us from starvation! Talk about deserving. Are any Dreamers saving us from starvation? But instead of guest-worker permits, then-Rep. Charles Schumer — from the lush farmland of Brooklyn — decided to grant full amnesty to any illegals who had done farm work for at least 90 days in the previous year. That’s pretty restrictive, isn’t it? In the end, “up to 350,000 farm workers” turned into 1.3 million. Oh well, what are you going to do? No use worrying — let’s just move forward and get all these people voter registration cards! This innocent little amnesty for a small, clearly defined group of illegals quickly became amnesty for anyone who applied. The same thing will happen with any other amnesty, no matter how strictly the law is written. (And it won’t be written strictly.) In the first few years of the agricultural amnesty, internal Immigration and Naturalization Service statistics showed that 888,637 legalization applications were fraudulent. According to immigration agents, “farm workers” stated in their interviews that cotton was purple or that they had pulled cherries from the ground. Of the 888,637 fraudulent applications, guess how many our government approved. Answer: More than 800,000. The agricultural amnesty was so carefully administered that not one, but TWO of the 1993 World Trade Center bombers were in this country because of it. (More on that in another column.) The main problem with the farm worker amnesty, the DACA amnesty or any amnesty is that everyone involved in the entire immigration apparatus is feverishly working, on the taxpayer’s dime, to transform this country into a Third World hellhole. Lawyers for La Raza and lawyers for the government both believe it is their mission to humiliate and destroy white Christian America. (Actually, this country is “biracial Christian America,” plus a few Amerindians and anyone else who assimilated to Western European culture.) There are multitudes of them, and they will never, ever stop. Congress could pass a law granting amnesty to any 7-foot-tall, left-handed, red-headed illegal aliens from Lichtenstein — and hundreds of left-wing outfits would instantly set to work, demanding amnesty for witch doctors, cannibals, pederasts, terrorists and the rest of the multicultural universe that makes America so vibrant. On the other side of the application process would be government immigration bureaucrats who either used to work at La Raza, or hope to in the future. On the off chance that some particularly risible amnesty application is denied by a stodgy rules-follower in our immigration bureaucracy, that denial will be litigated before a federal judge in Hawaii, then appealed to the Ninth Circuit. For two decades after the 1986 amnesty, the federal courts were tied up with dozens of class-action lawsuits brought on behalf of illegal aliens — regular illegal aliens, farm worker illegal aliens and still-in-Mexico illegal aliens — challenging every aspect of the law. Is that how American tax dollars should be spent? On endless litigation, brought by America-hating activists on behalf of people who have no right to be in our country and decided by Democrat-appointed judges? (Who are also America-hating activists.) And when their work is done, there will be a lot more Democrat-appointed judges because there will be a lot more Democrats. Lawyers sued over everything — the absence of Creole interpreters, the requirement that illegals have proof of prior farm work and the rare denials of amnesty. Congress desperately tried passing laws that would prevent courts from hearing these cases — all to no avail. Left-wing lawyers just had to pick the right judge, and they won. In 2005 — nearly 20 years after the 1986 amnesty — the Ninth Circuit was still granting amnesty to hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens who claimed they had been unfairly denied because they were not in the country for the first amnesty. Seriously. No matter how the law is written, as long as anyone is eligible for amnesty, everybody’s getting amnesty. President Trump is the last president who will ever have a chance to make the right decision on immigration. After this, it’s over. The boat will have sailed. If he succeeds, all the p@ssy-grabbing and Russia nonsense will burn off like a morning fog. He will be the president who saved the American nation, its character, its sovereignty, its core identity. But if he fails, Donald Trump will go down in history as the man who killed America.)
