(FROM THE ARTICLE: Federal Election Commission campaign reports showed Ives, who announced her candidacy in mid-July, raised $340,298 through September. After spending $117,500, she said she had about $222,796 on hand. Among Ives’ contributors was conservative megadonor Richard Uihlein, who gave her the maximum $5,600 for the primary and general election. Uihlein, the Lake Forest businessman who owns Uline packing materials company, was by far the biggest donor to Ives’ campaign in advance of her near upset of Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner in last year’s GOP primary, giving her $2.5 million of the $4.2 million she raised. Ives’ campaign also received donations from two conservative organizations, reporting $5,000 from the House Freedom Fund and $2,500 from the Susan B. Anthony candidate fund. . .In dropping out of the contest, Sanguinetti alluded to problems fundraising, which was backed up by her report with the FEC. She raised only $39,318 from July through September and had only $36,539 in cash on hand to start this month. Last week, Gordon “Jay” Kinzler, a transplant surgeon from Glen Ellyn who has unsuccessfully sought other offices previously, announced he also would run in the Republican primary for Casten’s seat.)
