SPRINGFIELD STATE JOURNAL REGISTER
— Calling all candidates – Editorial (DIERSEN: In Illinois, you should run as a Republican only if you can and if you will defend and advance the Illinois Republican Party (IRP) platform. Political parties exist to help elect candidates who can and will defend and advance their platform.  Illinois Republicans should defeat primary candidates who have acted against the IRP platform and/or who hint/imply/argue/shout that they will act against the IRP platform if elected/reelected. One could argue that because Rauner and his supporters act against more and more and more planks in the IRP platform, Rauner and his supporters should run as Independents.)
http://www.sj-r.com/opinion/20170902/our-view-calling-all-candidates
(FROM THE EDITORIAL: Help Wanted: Seeking numerous people for often thankless job. Must be willing to work ridiculously long hours, be criticized by those also seeking this position, and be enthusiastic about shaking hands and kissing babies. Successful candidates will be able to raise significant amounts of money on a daily basis, keep their composure even when being yelled at, and be willing to defend every statement or idea they’ve ever shared. When considering the negative, it’s a wonder anyone runs for public office. But the positives can outweigh the negatives, especially for those who truly seek to be an agent for change in order to improve the lives of friends and neighbors, or who want to be a part of public policy decisions that right wrongs or benefit more people. It is those people — the ones who want to better their communities — we hope to see run for office in 2018. Besides the six statewide constitutional offices, all 18 of Illinois’ districts in Congress, 39 of the 59 seats in the state Senate and all 118 seats in the Illinois House are on the ballot. So are a number of county seats, including clerks, treasurers, sheriffs, assessors and county board members; regional superintendents of schools; and some judgeships. The 2018 election may have already seemed to be in full swing, largely because the race for governor has been prominent since the beginning of the year. But the actual kick-off to next year’s election starts Tuesday, if you go by the first date listed in the state Election Board’s 2018 Election and Campaign Finance Calendar. Sept. 5 marks the first day those from established political parties can begin circulating nomination papers to get their name on the ballot. Those nominating petitions you may be asked to sign in the coming weeks can’t be filed until Nov. 27 to Dec. 4, at which point the March 20 primary races will start to come into focus. It’s safe to assume there will be a Democratic primary race for governor, given that nine people have declared their intent to run. It’s possible on the Republican side, although a serious challenger has yet to emerge.)

THE HILL
— It’s time to build the wall and fix our immigration system – NED RYUN
http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/348995-its-time-to-build-the-wall-and-fix-our-immigration-system
(FROM THE ARTICLE: With President Trump likely to undo Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) next week, it highlights yet again that our immigration system is fundamentally broken. Our system of admittance is a decades old program based largely on nepotism and family ties, rather than any logical system of governance that benefits Americans. Rather than recruiting and attracting the best talent from other countries, our immigration system prioritizes bringing entire families. Combine this with our costly policies that allow illegal immigration across our southern border and you’ve got a recipe for disaster. Jim Acosta’s press conference temper tantrum demonstrated a number of Americans no longer realize why a country would even control the flow of immigration. They stammer and stomp their feet about what they believe America stands for, but unfortunately are entirely uninformed on the history of American immigration policy. During the 19th century, America largely had an open immigration policy as the country expanded and moved west, although, individual restrictions were placed on contract laborers, criminals, and in some cases entire countries. Those immigration laws were rewritten over the last century to implement greater controls over America’s immigration policies. These controls are especially necessary as progressives created greater and greater welfare programs. Like it or not, we are a welfare society. Whether it’s healthcare, social security, unemployment, housing, or any of the other myriad of benefits Americans receive. Just Social Security and Medicare make up nearly 40 percent of the federal budget. Throw in Medicaid and you’re getting close to 50 percent. Naturalizing more citizens and enrolling more individuals with green cards further encumbers our welfare system. We know our welfare system is hugely overburdened and threatens to be entirely insolvent by within 20 years. Thankfully, reforms in 1996 prevented those with green cards from receiving many federal benefits until they have lived in the country for at least five years and met work requirements, but we cannot pretend like admitting more people into the country has no effect. The legislation recently introduced in the Senate, named the Reforming American Immigration for Strong Employment Act (RAISE) bill, is not some racist screed. It’s a clear, point based immigration system, very similar to systems already in place in Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom. Rather than admit people based on the luck of the draw or ties to family already in the country, the RAISE system grades specific qualities that are valuable for our society. That means more young, highly educated, fiscally prepared individuals that are likely to integrate well into American society. This merit based system would help attract some of the best talent from around the world to come to our country and become Americans. But unfortunately that’s just not enough to deal with our immigration problems. Without serious proposals that actually build a wall on our southern border, problems will just continue. When you hear the Democrats talk about the new plan for President Trump’s border wall, you’d be forgiven if you thought they were the party of fiscal restraint and responsible spending. They’re breaking out the apocalyptic language to call into question the need to secure America’s borders or do anything to prevent the stream of illegal immigrants. Which is ironic given the fact that roughly ten years ago, three Democrat Senators by the names of Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and Joe Biden voted to fund the Yuma Sector Wall to stop the flow of illegal crossings (and now Yuma has seen a 70 percent decrease in illegal crossings since 2006). There are many costs involved with illegals coming into our country, from our education and health care systems to our welfare systems, but we cannot forget that one of the largest financial strains from increased illegal immigration is the increased cost for law enforcement and incarceration. Consider the Government Accountability Office’s study from 2011 in which 251,000 criminal illegals were found to have committed on average twelve crimes and been arrested on average seven times: hardly the best use of our law enforcement. That same study showed another interesting fact: 68 percent of the criminal illegals sitting in federal prison and 66 percent sitting in state prison were from one country: Mexico. In addition to law enforcement resources dedicated to repeatedly arresting the same criminal illegals, the cost to incarcerate criminal illegals is nearly two billion in some years: a study shows Americans paid $1.87 billion to “house imprisoned illegal immigrants in fiscal year 2014.” As more criminal illegals cross the border, that number will only increase. Those crimes not only harm Americans (and a great number of legal immigrants) but also sap valuable time from police officers. In California, thousands of prisoners were released early to make room for the tens of thousands of criminal illegal immigrants, which number over 72,000. This criminal element coming across the border also exacerbates the drug epidemic sweeping the country. Compare these annual costs of law enforcement work and incarceration costs to the cost of a wall, which some think for a wall of 1,250 miles could be as high as $21.5 billion. Considering our annual ongoing costs of dealing with criminal illegals alone and that still looks like a bargain. As much as media elites want to pretend otherwise, this common-sense policy approach with changing our immigration system and building a wall would protect American citizens and make America stronger by enticing the best workers in the world to immigrate by modernizing the system.)

POLITICO
— DIERSEN HEADLINE: Those who promote DACA argue that DREAMers should get sympathy because their parents brought them to America before they were adults. Should those like me get sympathy because their parents raised them to be Missouri Synod Lutheran (MSL), conservative, Republican, and/or American? Should those like me get sympathy because their parents are German American and/or because their ancestors came to America while slavery was still legal? Should those like me get sympathy because they were born White and/or male?  Were it not for my parents, I might very well be the following like more and more and more people are: anti-Trump, anti-MSL, anti-conservative, anti-Republican, anti-American, anti-White, anti-male, anti-older people, anti-rich people, anti-gun owners, anti-German Americans, anti-draft avoiders (except Bill Clinton), and/or anti-those whose ancestors have been in America longer than their ancestors.

— WHAT THE IL GOP PLATFORM SAYS ABOUT IMMIGRATION  (DIERSEN: Political parties exist to help elect candidates who can and will defend and advance their platform.  In Illinois, if you got elected or appointed to a government office or a political office as a Republican, and you do not defend and advance the Illinois Republican Party platform, you should immediately resign.)
http://illinoisreview.typepad.com/illinoisreview/2017/09/what-the-il-gop-platform-says-about-immigration.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: At the Illinois Republican Party’s 2016 Convention, the state’s GOP delegates overwhelmingly supported a platform that contained this strong plank on the issue of immigration. It emphasized a “front door” policy. The issue plank concluded with these words that rank and file Republicans are saying has been totally ignored by the IL GOP leadership – including Governor Rauner – despite Republicans throughout the state supporting this position: “We call on the Illinois government to assist our federal government in the mission of protecting our homeland. We therefore urge reversal of “sanctuary city” policies, which bar our law enforcement officers from aiding Immigration & Customs Enforcement agents. Border control is a national security and public safety issue. We further call on the federal government to secure and protect our borders and vigorously enforce the law of the land. We further call on the federal and Illinois government to abandon all incentives that encourage illegal immigrants to settle in Illinois, as these incentives put a strain on our already struggling economy and is insulting to those who immigrated here legally.” Does the Illinois Republican Party’s platform mean anything at all?  Should IL GOP demand their party officials adhere to the platform rather than ignore it? The platform plank as accepted in 2016:)

The Office of Personnel Management set up an Emergency Leave Transfer Program, which lets employees in the executive and judicial branches transfer unused annual leave to their federal colleagues within the same agency or another organization, who need additional time off. “We continue to reach out to impacted agencies to gather more information on the number of employees impacted by Harvey,” acting OPM Director Kathleen McGettigan said in a Sept. 1 statement. “As always, OPM stands ready to assist federal agencies in assisting their missions and in responding to the needs of federal employees.” OPM decided a emergency leave transfer program was warranted after talking to other agencies about the impact the storms have had on their employees.)

MADISON RECORD
— Kyle McCarter: Rauner is ‘the best Republican Democrats have ever had’ – Ann Maher
https://madisonrecord.com/stories/511200480-mccarter-rauner-is-the-best-republican-democrats-have-ever-had
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Calling Gov. Bruce Rauner “the best Republican Democrats have ever had,” fellow GOPer State Sen. Kyle McCarter believes the sanctuary state bill signed into law yesterday will negatively effect the governor’s re-election hopes. “This is not just bad policy,” McCarter said of Rauner’s adoption of the Trust Act. “It’s bad politics.” The “sanctuary state” measure in Senate Bill 31 limits the role local and state police can have in enforcing federal immigration laws. While Rauner touts the Act as one that will improve “connectivity between immigrants and law enforcement, making Illinois safer for all residents,” critics like McCarter say it shows the governor “is not committed to protecting the citizens of Illinois but criminal Illegals.” Leading up to Rauner’s action yesterday, McCarter addressed criticism he faced for not backing his fellow Republican. McCarter said that party loyalty can only go so far. “You can’t overlook what’s right and wrong, and you can’t defend what’s wrong as though it’s right just because your party leader says this is the way it is,” McCarter said in a Facebook post. “We all need to be held accountable.” In a radio interview with radio hosts Dan Proft and Amy Jacobson at AM 560 in Chicago on Tuesday morning, McCarter said he was concerned about “my party” and its brand being tainted, or at least “confused.” He said that within the congressional district he is considering taking a run at – the 15th Congressional District currently represented by Republican John Shimkus – a majority in the 33 counties of the southern Illinois district voted for President Trump. “His immigration policy was one of the reasons they voted for him,” McCarter said. “I think this is going to negatively effect Rauner’s election.” When asked whether Rauner might face a primary challenge, McCarter said he wasn’t sure it was a practical idea as any rival would run against “a very wealthy man.” But he also said that primaries are good because they make candidates better, forcing them to focus on what they stand for. In a final segment of the radio program, Proft turned to an article in a news outlet Proft established – Prairie State Wire – that examines state contracts totaling $16.88 billion amassed for clients of Nancy Kimme, a Republican, whom he described as a “longtime inside player.” Kimme had served as chief of staff to the late Judy Baar Topinka, who passed away shortly after being elected state comptroller in 2014. After Topinka’s passing, Kimme turned to lobbying, and according to Proft, had worked out of the governor’s office under the “previous regime” before a staff shakeup in July. Proft asked McCarter about Rauner’s promise to “shake up” Springfield and turn around Illinois, as in his version of “draining the swamp.” “Unfortunately, Republicans in Illinois dwell in the swamp as well,” McCarter said. “It’s not just a home for Democrats. Cultures of corruption don’t change overnight, no culture does…typically what happens when it does change, you have spectacular principled leaders and it’s those leaders that stand strong and can really move culture in the right direction.” McCarter said he “knew the reality” of how things work in Springfield when he had asked a state agency director about employment for someone he knew. “I had asked a director one time in this administration if there was a place to provide a job to a man who was unjustly treated by the previous administration, and one of best workers we had in the state,” McCarter said. “And he told me he couldn’t do anything about that, but he told me that I should go to the firm of Nancy Kimme…I thought that was just a little odd.” Proft said, “The agency director couldn’t do anything but the shadow government could, if you wanted to enlist them at a price.” “Exactly,” McCarter said. “That is disappointing and shows you the depth of this culture of corruption.”)

WIRE POINTS
— A Particularly Disastrous Day For Illinois And Rauner (Mr. Rauner, That Is) – Mark Glennon
http://www.wirepoints.com/a-particularly-disastrous-day-for-illinois-and-rauner-mr-rauner-that-is-wirepoints-original/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Finally, on Monday, Rauner signed the Trust Act. People I respect who have studied it  closely (I haven’t) split on it’s legal importance. Some say it makes Illinois a “sanctuary” state while some say it just codifies court rulings and has symbolic importance only. But even that symbolic importance is huge. Many opponents of sanctuary cities, who comprise much of Rauner’s base, are absolutely livid and they don’t really give a damn whether it’s just symbolic. Rauner’s support is now getting national attention and derision. The bottom line is that both Illinois and Rauner lost big time on Monday, and it wasn’t just because of politics, spin, or Rauner’s bad communication skills. On the subject of communication, yes, Rauner’s staff has long shared blame and the recent turmoil in his staff left a void. But the primary failure is Rauner’s own. He’s seems forever unprepared. Though usually directionally correct, he gets facts wrong, exaggerates and sometimes just doesn’t know. He contradicts himself from one day to another. Platitudes suffice for arguments. Since he’s unquestionably smart and a true workaholic, he has no excuse for appearing to be so lazy about substance. Ironically, while his conservative base wobbles, the narrative prevails that right wing nutjobs now dominate his staff. Among other reasons why that’s false is that First Lady Diana Rauner, by all credible accounts, is the most powerful person on the team. I don’t know her but those who do say she’ smart, opinionated and driven, though less charitable synonyms aren’t uncommon. Most importantly, she’s a liberal Democrat and she pushes for liberal Democratic policies. To her and to her fellow party members in the General Assembly, I say this sincerely: Touché. You had an extraordinarily successful Monday, on both policy and politics.)

My critics/opponents in Wheaton, in Glen Ellyn, in Milton Township, in DuPage County, and in Illinois have lots of religious, government, political, and/or financial clout. Because they have that clout, they believe that they, their operatives, and their dupes can/should defame me. They stress that I am no longer the TAPROOT Republicans of Illinois chairman, a Wheaton Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee member, the Milton Township Republican Central Committee webmaster, an Illinois Center Right Coalition Steering Committee member, an American Association of Political Consultants Midwest Chapter board member, a GAO employee, an IRS employee, a Post Office employee, etc. They stress a) that my Democrat GAO superiors forced me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, did not promote me beyond GS-13, kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and forced me to take an $18,847 pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980; b) that my Democrat IRS superiors did not promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, and disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974; and c) that my Democrat Post Office superiors forced me resign in 1969 and disallowed my sick leave requests in 1969 and 1968.)

ILLINOIS FAMILY INSTITUTE
— West Chicago Library Votes to Retain Age Inappropriate Picture Book – Thomas Madison  (DIERSEN: Ever-increasingly, Democrats encourage children to engage in LGBTQ activity.)
https://illinoisfamily.org/education/west-chicago-library-votes-retain-age-inappropriate-picture-book/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: On August 28th, the West Chicago Public Library Board voted 6-1 to retain the homosexuality-celebrating picture book This Day in June. IFI thanks you for your support in emailing the library director Benjamin Weseloh to share your concerns about this book. There were roughly 80-100 people in attendance, and 90 percent of them were pro-LGBT supporters of the book. Unfortunately, this is usually the case when book controversies arise. Those who seek to normalize disordered sexuality are far more passionate, tenacious, and bold than are those who oppose the normalization of sexual deviance. The Left seems to care far more about promoting lies to young children than conservatives do in protecting them from lies. Those community members who had the wisdom and courage to oppose this troubling picture book needed much more verbal support at the meeting. IFI is disappointed in the absence of local community support for those brave men and women. We know significant opposition to this book exists because of the hundreds of messages that were sent to the director, but emails alone are insufficient if real change is to occur. Sometimes people are unable to make meetings, but often emailing concerns represents indefensible cowardice or surrender. The supporters of the book came out strongly against IFI, explicitly attacking us and making numerous spurious statements. The most obviously false statement was that IFI is a hate group. IFI’s positions on homosexuality no more constitute hatred of persons who believe differently than does disapproval of polyamory or polygamy constitute hatred of polyamorists or polygamists. Leftists are either unable to understand this distinction or unwilling to admit it because they know that fallacious ad hominem attacks work. The most startling remarks made in support of the book were that the content was not sexual. This is a complete denial of reality and a reminder that people will pervert the truth to suit their own lifestyles. The book is specifically intended toward “helping” children recognize and accept the diversity of sexual preferences. It features men kissing men and women kissing women. Since when is romantic kissing or even simply kissing romantic partners not a sexual act? Some of the board members noted the importance of the library representing the diverse views found in its community. The speciousness of this claim is revealed in the absence of books on a host of topics. This absence is due—at least in part—to librarians imposing their moral views through the purchasing process. When they impose their views, it’s called responsible text selection. When conservatives want purchases to reflect their views, leftists call it censorship and book-banning. We were disappointed not only in learning how the board members voted but also in learning that regardless of their votes, the book would have stayed on the shelf. According to the parliamentarian, the policy of the board is to let the library staff decide for themselves the quality of material, so last night’s vote was a non-binding vote. The board’s policy is reflective of the American Library Association (ALA), the far-leftist organization that wanted children’s computers to have access to pornography) and which actively promotes homosexuality and the “trans” ideology. Should unelected library staff whose training comes through the highly politicized and leftist field of library science be granted such near-absolute autonomy?Ultimately, if community members want to see this inappropriate book moved to a restricted area—as it is in other local libraries like Downers Grove—or removed altogether, they will either have to convince the staff to move or remove the book, or West Chicagoans must elect better board members to change board policy. West Chicago Public Library employee Joan Happel posted this celebratory announcement on Facebook, “The library director’s decision is to keep the book where it is! That decision was never in question.” Happel evidently finds nothing problematic about a picture book for young children whose author said this: “When I wrote this story, I wanted Pride to be featured as realistically as possible. I wanted to see drag queens, guys in leather, rainbows, political signs, the Dykes on Bikes—everything you would see at Pride. I didn’t want any of it to be watered-down or sugarcoated. Lots of people have asked me, “Do you think that’s appropriate for children?” And my answer always is YES.” Unfortunately, numerous libraries throughout the country and in Illinois are using public monies to promote the normalization of homosexuality and the “trans” ideology. The battle against dissenting views—including Judeo-Christian views—continues. Those relatively few brave souls who step up to oppose deception—especially deception that harms children—need many others to come alongside them. IFI wonders how many area pastors showed up to make statements about this book. Here is a breakdown of how the West Chicago Library Board voted and their respective term expiration years.)

https://www.stripes.com/news/pentagon-expands-policy-to-upgrade-vets-bad-paper-discharges-1.485038#.WaaQ7BHxZZI
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The Defense Department on Monday issued a sweeping policy change to afford more leeway to veterans seeking upgrades to their other-than-honorable discharges. A memorandum dated Aug. 25 instructs the Army Review Boards Agency — the office charged with changing military records — to give “liberal consideration” to veterans looking to upgrade their less-than-honorable discharges, or “bad paper,” because of mental health conditions or traumatic brain injury, sexual assault or sexual harassment and outlines what should be considered when deciding an upgrade. In 2014, former Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel had ordered the Army Review Boards Agency to give consideration to veterans looking to upgrade their less-than-honorable discharges because of post-traumatic stress disorder. The new memo expands on Hagel’s order after years of veterans asking for government recognition that troops are, in some instances, affected by service-related mental health conditions that change their behaviors and lead to disciplinary problems. “This new guidance is something that veteran advocates should be really excited about – it’s what we’ve been asking for from the Pentagon for years,” said Kristofer Goldsmith, an Iraq War veteran who has fought for 10 years to change upgrade procedures. “This memo is filled with signals that there may yet be hope for the thousands of veterans who have been unfairly suffering the effects of bad paper.”)

WASHINGTON TIMES
— Bruce Rauner, betrayer of the Illinois GOP – Cheryl K. Chumley
http://m.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/aug/29/bruce-rauner-betrayer-illinois-gop/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: There used to be a time when Republicans stood for certain non-negotiables — free markets, lower taxes, limited governments and yes, law and order at the borders. Then came Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner. And all the Republicans go — whaat? The Republican — repeat, Republican — governor just signed a bill into law limiting the ability of police to work with feds on immigration. Specifically, the new law “prohibits police from searching, arresting or detaining someone solely because of immigration status, or because of so-called federal immigration detainers,” ABC News reported. Local authorities ostensibly can still contact federal immigration folk and hold illegals in jail cells if there’s a criminal warrant for their arrest on file. But come on, now. What Rauner really signed was a sanctuary bill. He can spin it however he wants — and boy, did he. His side argues the bill is far from a sanctuary measure because it still allows for communication between locals and feds, and it makes clear the state has to abide federal law. But that’s smoke and mirrors. The fact that the language is nebulous enough to be having the debate over whether it’s sanctuary or not is proof in itself that it’s sanctuary enough to be interpreted by any leftists at the local levels — the first responders on law enforcement — as permission to protect and shield illegals. “This took months and months of difficult negotiations,” he said, during the highly touted, highly celebratory bill signing, complete with mariachi ban performances and speeches. “[But it helps Illinois] continuing to be a welcome state.” Welcoming state — that’s code for Hey Illegal, Come Here. It’s the language Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel uses when he insists his city will stay a welcome refuge for illegals, no matter what President Donald Trump does in terms of border crackdowns. It’s the defiant rhetoric New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio screams when he symbolically middle-fingers the White House on immigration controls. But Emanuel and de Blasio are Democrats — so yeah, that’s what they do. Flout the law and flaunt their progressive-socialist-globalist selves. Rauner? Once more, for the people in the back of the room: he’s a Republican. Go back to Paragraph One, the part where it says Republicans are supposed to stand for law and order — “republic” is in the name, for crying out loud — not democratic wispy-winded will of the mob. Did Rauner not get the manual? Illinois may be heavy on the Democrats, and Rauner may simply be trying to do some good ol’ fashioned politicking to save his poll numbers. But stepping toward Democrats on border security is not a winning platform. And hey now, lookie here — Rauner is indeed up for re-election in 2018. From Politico, December 2016: “Illinois Gov. Rauner drops $50 million into 2018 reelection bid.” Seems he’s trying to walk both paths, simultaneously — Democratic and Republican. What a perfect time for a primary candidate to emerge.)

https://www.forbes.com/sites/cartoonoftheday/2017/08/14/the-no-1-reason-employers-want-older-workers/#342384cf4fcb
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Skills retention. It’s something that many companies are now looking at with renewed vigor. Retirement can deprive businesses of critical experience and practical knowledge, which is lost when older workers head for the door and a younger, less “seasoned” generation moves in to take their place. This leaves CEOs and young entrepreneurs in a bind as they search for workers with understanding, expertise and wisdom. To counter this, many businesses are now actively courting older workers with incentives to either stay or come back. Sorry, Mark Zuckerberg. The Facebook CEO once famously said, “Young people are just smarter.” And the numbers are remarkable. One study found that productivity did not peak until age 50, 60% higher than that of the average 20-year-old. So older workers are coming back, and another reason for increases in their employment was the financial crisis of 2008 . As 401ks dried up and savings dwindled, many older workers were forced back into the workforce out of sheer necessity. Now companies are seeing the benefits of coveting their maturity, talents and know-how.)

Coulter also used a word widely considered to be a slur against the disabled. Bauner discussed illegal immigration and the state budget crisis in his interview. A spokeswoman for Rauner told the Chicago Tribune that the governor’s office had no comment.)

FRONTPAGE MAGAZINE
— STATE DEPARTMENT OFFICIALS QUITTING OVER “COMPLETE AND UTTER DISDAIN FOR OUR EXPERTISE” – Robert Spencer  (DIERSEN: GAO audits IRS. Much of what IRS Revenue Officers do is similar to what GAO Analysts do including interviewing, data gathering, data summary, data analysis, developing recommendations, and report writing.  In 1980, my Democrat GAO superiors showed their complete and utter disdain for what I had a) learned by working for IRS’s Collection Division for almost 9 years 1971-1980, the last 5 1/2 years of which at the GS-12 Step 1-5 levels, currently $79,563-$90,173, b) learned by passing the CPA examination on my first attempt in 1979, c) learned by earning a masters degree in accounting from DePaul in 1980, d) learned by earning an MBA from Loyola in 1976, and e) learned by earning a bachelor’s degree from NIU in 1970 a) by forcing me to take an $18,847 (21%) pay cut to transfer, that is, a downgrade from GS-12 Step 5, currently $90,173, to GS-9 Step 10, currently $71,326, b) by keeping me off audits of IRS 1980-1995, c) by forcing the GAO manager who had hired me, gotten me assigned to audits of IRS in 1996, and gotten me promoted to GS-13, currently $94,610, in 1986, and d) by keeping me off audits of IRS 1989 until they succeeded in forcing me to take their early retirement “offer” in 1997.)
