— What Happens When Legislators Speak Out Against Speaker Madigan? – Amanda Vinicky
https://news.wttw.com/2020/12/09/what-happens-when-legislators-speak-out-against-speaker-madigan
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Ramifications, she said, that included getting cut off from traditional large Democratic donors for fundraising and being sent a novice campaign worker from the Democratic Party of Illinois versus a seasoned staffer. She said DPI, which Madigan also controls, didn’t have conversations with her about these changes. And she said DPI slow-walked polling in her district and a refusal by the party to allow her to ask a poll question about Madigan. “It’s a very fine line, right? Because you don’t want anything to look retaliatory,” she said. She said she ended up doing her own poll, outside of DPI. It showed that Madigan was less popular in her west suburban district than President Donald Trump. Costa Howard said she did not take money directly from Madigan, though as a Democrat she did accept funding from Democratic committees under his auspices.)

LAGRANGE PATCH
— What Got A La Grange Library Worker Fired The employee was accused of violating anti-discrimination and anti-harassment policies. – David Giuliani (DIERSEN: Prior to August of 1997, when I was 48 years old, my Democrat GAO superiors led me to believe that they were going to let me work at least until I would be eligible for regular retirement in 2003 when I would be 55 years old. But starting in August of 1997, they increasingly made it clear that if I did not take their early retirement “offer” which expired on September 30, 1997, they would constructively, if not literally, demote me and make my next 6 years a living hell. Previously, they had not taken any formal disciplinary actions against me. But they had given me unfair performance expectations and appraisals, always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, did not promote me beyond GS-13, got rid of my mentor in 1987, kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and forced me to take a $20,157 (21%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980.)

POLITICO ILLINOIS
— Richard Goldberg is being recruited by some members of the Illinois GOP to become party chairman, according to a source close to the selection process. The position opened up over the weekend when Chairman Tim Schneider announced he was stepping down after six years. Goldberg most recently served as a director with the White House National Security Council and before that was chief of staff for former Gov. Bruce Rauner and deputy chief of staff to former Sen. Mark Kirk. Goldberg, who’s also an intelligence officer in the Naval Reserve with the rank of lieutenant commander, is seen as someone who can work across all areas of the Illinois GOP and stand up to Democrats. Goldberg would bring the star power that comes from working for Trump. He also could help rebuild the Republican presence in Lake County, where Kirk resides. The area has moved left with each election cycle in recent years. https://www.fedweek.com/issue-briefs/report-examines-reasons-behind-gender-pay-gap-shows-variation/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: What GAO Found The overall pay gap between men and women in the federal workforce has narrowed considerably, from 19 cents on the dollar in 1999 to 7 cents in 2017, but the current pay gap is greater for certain groups of women, according to GAO’s analysis of data from the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). Two trends help explain why the pay gap has narrowed: (1) men and women have become more similar in measurable factors related to pay, such as occupation; and (2) women have earned slightly higher rates of pay increases than men. In 2017, most of the overall pay gap—or 6 of 7 cents on the dollar—was not explained by differences between men and women in measurable factors (see figure). This unexplained portion of the pay gap may be due to factors not captured in the data GAO analyzed, such as work experience outside the federal government, or factors that cannot be measured, such as discrimination and individual choices. In 2017, the overall and unexplained gaps were greater for certain groups. For example, compared to White men, the unexplained gap was greater for Hispanic/Latina, Black, and American Indian or Alaska Native women than for White and Asian, Native Hawaiian, or Pacific Islander women. Gender Composition of the Federal Workforce and Prior Research on the Gender Pay Gap for Federal Workers Over the last 20 years, the federal workforce has consistently included more men than women. For example, according to OPM’s EHRI data, men made up 55 percent of the federal workforce in 1999 and 57 percent in 2018. In 2018, of about 2.1 million federal workers captured in the EHRI data, approximately 1.2 million were men and nearly 926,000 were women. Although estimates of the exact size of the gender pay gap vary, the estimated pay gap between women and men in the federal workforce is smaller than the pay gap in the entire U.S. workforce, which includes the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors. In 2018, the pay gap for federal workers was about 12 cents on the dollar, and the pay gap for the entire workforce was about 18 cents on the dollar, according to self-reported data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey. Prior research has found that the gender pay gap for federal workers is partly explained by differences between men and women in measurable factors that affect pay, such as occupation, education, and experience. This is referred to as the explained pay gap. For example, in our 2009 report, we found that the pay gap was partly due to differences between men and women in the occupations they held, their levels of education, and how long they had worked for the federal government. We also identified other measurable factors that contributed to the explained gender pay gap, including race and ethnicity, federal agency, and veteran status. However, we found that a portion of the pay gap was not explained by differences between men and women in measurable factors that affect pay. This is referred to as the unexplained pay gap. Specifically, we found that 7 cents of the 11-cent pay gap in 2007 were unexplained after accounting for differences in measurable factors. Similarly, OPM found that about 4 cents of the 13-cent pay gap for white-collar federal workers in 2012 were not explained by measurable factors. The unexplained pay gap may be due to factors that are not captured in available data, such as work experience outside the federal government, or those that cannot be measured, such as discrimination and individual career choices. Furthermore, the explained pay gap could also be influenced by discrimination, to the extent that the measurable factors themselves are affected by discrimination.)

— RICKETTS & GOP RUMBLINGS; CABELLO SEEKS RECOUNT – Shia Kapos
https://www.politico.com/newsletters/illinois-playbook/2020/12/07/ricketts-gop-rumblings-madigan-backs-black-agenda-sandoval-dies-of-covid-cabello-seeks-recount-491077
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Todd Ricketts isn’t ruling out a run for governor, according to a source close to the Cubs co-owner. The revelation follows Tim Schneider’s announcement over the weekend that he is stepping down as state party chairman, prompting chatter that Ricketts, who is also chairman of the Republican National Committee’s finance committee, may be a possible — though unlikely — replacement. “Todd thinks Tim did a great job as state chair. As Todd is continuing as RNC Finance chairman, he will not be a candidate for state chair,” the source said, which leaves Ricketts’ options open for a statewide run. Schneider’s exit has prompted a flurry of interest — and name-dropping — about who might replace him, including: retiring Congressman John Shimkus, state Central Committeewomen Jan Weber or Barbara Viviano; Will County GOP Chairman George Pearson, a Black man with military, business and political experience; and Lake County Republican Party Chairman Mark Shaw, who also serves as state-party co-chairman. Schneider announced his exit during a virtual meeting of the Republican State Central Committee on Saturday. It caught some folks by surprise. But conservatives in the group pounced, wanting to name Shaw chairman. He wasn’t able to get enough votes and party leaders instead decided to make it an open search. Shaw is still expected to apply, though some in the Republican Party are concerned about his track record in Lake County. Democrats ousted GOP incumbents for state’s attorney and coroner last month, and they retained circuit court clerk and recorder seats. Democrats on the County Board also upped their majority from 12-9 to 15-6. The Tribune’s Rick Pearson describes Shaw as “a controversial figure” in GOP politics, for his shoot-from-the-hip tweets. Statewide, meanwhile, Republicans saw two big wins Nov. 3 with the defeat of Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s graduated income tax plan and stopping Supreme Court Justice Thomas Kilbride, a Democrat, from being retained. Now the party looks to capitalize on those victories and ramp up fundraising. It’s treating the hunt for a new chairman the way a company would conduct a CEO search. “We’ve pulled ourselves out of a dip and want to go into growth mode,” said one GOP source. The challenge the next chairman has isn’t any different than what Schneider has faced: managing the views of downstate Republicans vs. those in the northern part of the state. . .CABELLO seeks recount after loss: “State Rep. John Cabello is seeking a recount after the Republican’s narrow defeat to local attorney Dave Vella in the Nov. 3 election. Final election results in the race for the 68th District seat in the Illinois House of Representatives put Democratic challenger Vella 239 votes ahead after 53,301 were cast in Rockford and Winnebago County combined. Cabello on Friday filed paperwork with the Rockford Board of Elections asking for a recount in 10 Rockford precincts located inside six different wards,” by Rockford Register Star’s Jeff Kolkey.)

CRAIN’S CHICAGO BUSINESS
— A dogfight rocks the top of the Illinois GOP. And there’s more at stake than the chairmanship. – GREG HINZ
https://www.chicagobusiness.com/greg-hinz-politics/dogfight-rocks-top-illinois-gop
(FROM THE ARTICLE: According to party sources, Schneider, a former Cook County commissioner who was first made chairman by then-Gov. Bruce Rauner six years ago, has become tired of the unpaid job and particularly of clashes with central committee conservatives. He apparently wants to move on to private pursuits. At the weekend meeting, committee members went into closed executive session for more than three and a half hours, sources say, with conservative leader Mark Shaw, the Lake County chairman, coming within “one vote, maybe two” of winning the state post. Instead, a committee of two people from each side will try to work things out in coming weeks. How they will do that is not clear. Shaw didn’t return a phone call, and exactly what he would do differently than Schneider is not clear. But his style and that of his allies is reminiscent of how then-state Rep. Jeanne Ives almost toppled Rauner in the 2018 GOP primary with an in-your-face campaign during which she sharply underlined differences on abortion, gun rights, immigration and other matters. Revisiting that comes as the national GOP has been mostly mute over Trump’s unfounded claims that the election was “rigged” and must be overturned by Republican lawmakers. Notably among those castigating Trump for that and other stances is the only Republican congressman to represent part of the Chicago suburbs, Channahon’s Adam Kinzinger. Many in the party believe he’s trying to position himself to run for higher office—against Gov. J.B. Pritzker, or perhaps Sen. Tammy Duckworth, both up for re-election in 2022—and wants to build up some chits in what overall is a blue state. I suspect Kinzinger will keep a close eye on the chairmanship battle, the outcome of which could ease or complicate any effort by him to move up. The irony is that this battle—Shaw also ran for chairman two years ago—comes at a time when Republicans have some opportunity. Not only are Democrats divided over Madigan, but they just lost an Illinois Supreme Court seat and Pritzker faces only bad and worse fiscal choices in the wake of the defeat of his graduated income tax. Conservatives probably will argue the better path to success is not to rely on the business establishment, but to rev up their base. Perhaps. Meantime, we’ll see how nasty this fight gets. If it’s half as nasty as Trump’s exit plan, it will be a beaut.)

ILLINOIS REVIEW
— FIGHT OVER THE NEXT IL GOP CHAIRMAN REVS UP
https://www.illinoisreview.com/illinoisreview/2020/12/fight-over-who-the-next-il-gop-chairman-revs-up.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: So with all this to boast about, the Illinois Republican Party once again is at a crossroads: Do they follow the establishment elite, so-called “Pat Brady” path, or do they choose the path their conservative activist base has been begging for? According to the IL GOP’s press release, Schneider is stepping down after six years because he’s ready to do so. It appears he may be planning to stay around until a committee of four State Central Committee members he’s appointed find a replacement. Those committee members line up on two sides of the battle lines: Mike Bigger (18th CD) and long-time Jim Durkin staffer Judy Diekelman (2nd CD) on the “Pat Brady” party side and Char Foss-Eggeman (9th CD) and Fred Floreth (13th CD) more on the conservative base side. The former “Pat Brady” side of the equation line up with GOP powerhouses that endorsed and promoted John Kasich in the 2016 presidential bid and tend to promote “moderate” social views, Democrat tolerance and political career preservation. The conservative base has endured year after year of the Pat Brady mindset mocking them, telling them to get out of the party and take with them their conservative social views. Illinois Review will be working on getting responses from names we’ve heard are in the mix to succeed Schneider – including State Central Committeeman Mark Shaw, Mike Bigger on one side and names from the conservative side, including former State Rep. (FROM THE ARTICLE: Oluo isn’t insinuating all white men are mediocre: “What I’m saying is that white male mediocrity is a baseline, the dominant narrative, and that everything in our society is centered around preserving white male power regardless of while male skill or talent.” Slavery and backlash to the Great Migration; the takeover of indigenous lands and genocide of Native Americans; modern-day politics across the political spectrum; higher education’s racist roots and continuing struggle to deal with racism; and her own experiences with internet trolls, including the endangerment of her son, are just some of the examples the author of USA TODAY best-seller “So You Want to Talk About Race” (2018) invokes in the well-researched, yet highly personal, tome that shines a spotlight on modern-day racism and white supremacy.)

ILLINOIS REPUBLICAN PARTY
— ILGOP Chairman Announces Transition to New Leadership for the 2022 Cycle
https://mailchi.mp/6080dbbda8e7/icymi-pritzker-admin-mia-while-over-20-of-lasalle-veterans-home-residents-die-of-covid-4669652
(FROM THE ANNOUNCEMENT: At today’s ILGOP State Central Committee meeting, Illinois Republican Party Chairman Tim Schneider announced that he would begin a transition out of his role as head of the state party and appoint a new committee within the ILGOP State Central Committee tasked with creating a process for selecting a new Chairman in the weeks to come. Schneider has released the following statement: “It has been the honor of a lifetime to lead this party for the past six years. The Illinois Republican Party is an important force for change in a state that so desperately needs it. During my tenure, the ILGOP has stood for reform – term limits, fair maps, and the end to the rampant corruption plaguing our state. And we were united around our conservative values of smaller government, lower taxes, and personal responsibility. In the 2020 election cycle, the Illinois Republican Party played important roles in defeating Pritzker’s progressive income tax hike, defending congressional target Congressman Rodney Davis, kicking Madigan’s favorite judge Tom Kilbride off the state Supreme Court, electing David Overstreet to the state Supreme Court, and netting a seat in the Illinois House. The Illinois Republican Party concludes the cycle more united, stronger, and well positioned to defeat the Pritzker-Madigan agenda in 2021. I believe the ILGOP is in a great position to take this momentum and regain the Governor’s mansion, win a US Senate seat, win majority control of the Supreme Court for the first time, and put up a strong fight in other races up and down the ballot in 2022. So, after the successes in 2020 and with plenty of time to gear up for the next election, I have decided it’s the right time to begin the transition to a new Chairman early next year. The entire State Central Committee is committed to an open and transparent process to select the best person for the job.” Chairman Schneider was unanimously elected Chairman of the Illinois Republican Party in May 2014. Schneider was re-elected to a second four-year term in May 2018. The term concludes in May 2022. Chairman Schneider has selected the following State Central Committee members to serve on a committee that will recommend a process and timeline for choosing a successor Chairman at the party’s next meeting on January 9, 2021. Mike Bigger – 18th Congressional District (Chairman) Char Foss-Eggemann – 9th Congressional District Fred Floreth – 13th Congressional District Judy Diekelman – 2nd Congressional District Schneider will serve as Chairman until the full State Central Committee chooses a successor Chairman.)

https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/chicago-politics/tim-schneider-to-step-down-as-chairman-of-the-illinois-republican-party/2387428/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Tim Schneider has announced that he is stepping down from his role as chairman of the Illinois Republican Party, saying he believes “it is a good time” to leave the position he has occupied for the last six years. Schneider says the success of the Republican Party in the 2020 election cycle allowed him to step aside, and that the transition process to find the next leader of the party is currently ongoing. “After six-plus years and a very successful cycle, and with the Illinois GOP positioned well, I believe it’s a good time for me to transition out,” he said in a statement to NBC 5’s Mary Ann Ahern. Schneider says that the average length of a state chairmanship in the party lasts for less than two years. According to the Illinois GOP’s website, Schneider was unanimously selected as the party’s chairman in 2014, with an emphasis on “value for tax dollars, a quality education for our kids (and) term limits on career politicians.” Before being picked as the Republican party chairman, Schneider served as a Cook County board commissioner in the 15th District, a position he held from 2006 to 2018.)

CHICAGO TRIBUNE
— Illinois Republican Party Chairman Tim Schneider says he’ll step down amid hard-liner push to replace him – RICK PEARSON
https://www.chicagotribune.com/politics/ct-illinois-republican-chairman-tim-schneider-to-resign-20201205-wmwfzltx7zgzfirasawxaiytyy-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Sources said Schneider, who embraced President Donald Trump’s reelection and weathered the controversial years of Rauner’s tenure, was facing opposition from more conservative hard-liners within the state GOP hierarchy. The sources, who were not authorized to speak publicly about the meeting, said a push was made to name Lake County GOP Chairman Mark Shaw to replace Schneider as chairman during Saturday’s meeting, but those efforts fell short. Two years ago, Lake Forest’s Shaw sought to challenge Schneider for the party’s chairmanship. But in a compromise brokered by Rauner, Shaw backed off and accepted the newly created title of party co-chairman for “conservative and grassroots outreach.” At the time, Rauner, who was seeking reelection, fell out of favor with party conservatives over his support of legislation that expanded abortion and LGBTQ rights. Those positions almost cost him renomination after narrowly defeating former state Rep. Jeanne Ives of Wheaton in the GOP primary. Shaw has been a controversial figure. In September, his county GOP organization touted a Republican fundraiser on Facebook, saying, “An invigorated Republican electorate enjoyed a beautiful fundraiser … ‘without fear and without masks!’” The posting included a video of the indoor and outdoor event, which featured few people wearing masks despite guidelines dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. Two weeks after the 2017 Las Vegas massacre of concertgoers that killed 58 people and wounded hundreds of others, Shaw’s county GOP organization held a fundraiser where at least a dozen firearms were raffled off. Shaw said some of the money raised at the event would be donated to Las Vegas first responders. With immediate support for Shaw lacking among top Republicans on Saturday, the party leaders agreed to form a search committee, which will present its recommendations for a new chairman on Jan. 9. Schneider’s term was to run through May 2022. “I believe the ILGOP is in a great position to take this momentum (of 2020) and regain the governor’s mansion, win a U.S. Senate seat, win majority control of the Supreme Court for the first time, and put up a strong fight in other races up and down the ballot in 2022,” Schneider said.)

Ever increasingly, Democrats call Republicans White supremacists, Nazis, KKK members, haters, racists, sexists, bigots, and even worse things. (FROM THE ARTICLE: Facebook has updated its hate speech algorithm, reversing years of neutrality to prioritize anti-black comments while making anti-white slurs the lowest priority. The tech giant’s new system for detecting hate speech, known internally as the WoW Project, will automatically delete hateful language directed at the LGBTQ community, Jews, Muslims and African Americans — which has been dubbed by Facebook engineers as the “worst of the worst,” the Washington Post reported. The company will now begin scoring hate speech and offensive posts, and remarks about “men,” “whites” and “Americans” will be marked “low sensitivity,” the report said.)

https://ktrh.iheart.com/content/2020-11-30-conservative-censorship-continues/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: If you thought that ‘Big Tech’ was going to back off of its conservative censorship now that the election is over? You were wrong! As documented in the New York Times! of all places, Facebook & CEO Mark Zuckerberg are actually doing more to censor news outlets and people that they don’t agree with. It’s done with a ‘secret ranking system’ that allows CNN and others to be seen, while conservative outlets and posts are restricted. Taking it one step, Facebook is also blocking individual posts (aka freedom of speech) under the guise that they use to rationalize ‘people that are bad for the world’. Scary but true according to media analyst Bryan Preston, who told KTRH “What they’re censoring are stories that they don’t like, that report facts that they don’t want people to see. That is extremely chilling! and given the power that Facebook has over our view of reality now, this cannot stand.” And while Preston believes that Facebook and the other Big Tech companies will have it much easier under Biden, the fight will continue. Who would have thought we would be talking about free speech in 2020? Scary, but true.)

I should write a book about the aforesaid who talk and/or act like they are taking the following advice: curry favor with voters who are Trump-haters, minority, female, younger, moderate, liberal, Democrat, Libertarian, Green, Independent, RINO, poor, non-gun owners, veterans, non-Christian, non-Protestant, non-Italian American, non-German American, and/or those whose ancestors have not been in America for a long time by getting rid of those who are Trump supporters, White, male, older, conservative, Republican, non-poor, gun owners, draft avoiders, Christian, Protestant, Italian American, German American, and/or those whose ancestors have been in America for a long time.)

— In Their 20s and Saving for Retirement: How It Started, How It’s Going Three savers learned some important lessons early on. – Elizabeth Harris (DIERSEN: I started earning credits toward a Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) pension in 1966 when I was 18 years old as a Park Forest Post Office employee. I earned full-time CSRS credit even though I worked only part-time. My Democrat IRS and GAO superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates were furious about that.)

— Happiness Won’t Save You. Philip Brickman was an expert in the psychology of happiness, but he couldn’t make his own pain go away. – Jennifer Senior (DIERSEN: How happy are you? I should write a book about those in my precinct, in Wheaton, in Glen Ellyn, in Milton Township, in DuPage County, and in Illinois who viciously demonize, denigrate, and condemn me for my not being happy enough. They hint/imply/argue/shout that I got everything good that I have because I was born with a silver spoon in my mouth, because I have always been privileged, because I avoided the draft, because the federal government grossly overpaid me, because my wife and I gave up trying to have children, because we did not adopt, because we did not become foster parents, because my federal retirement benefits are too generous, and because I do not give money to a church like they do.)

— Record Asian American turnout helped Biden win Georgia. Can it help flip the Senate? – Amy B Wang (DIERSEN: Democrats have declared war on Republicans. Democrats see Asian Americans as being their soldiers in their army to get rid of Republicans once and for all.)

— Criticized by moderates and pressured by their base, liberals fight for a voice in the Democratic Party – Sean Sullivan and Rachael Bade (DIERSEN: To vote for Democrats is to promote dependency on government, dependency on charity, LGBTQ, abortion, mass/illegal immigration, booze, gambling, pot, and other vices, abolition of the First and Second Amendments, patronage, political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and even worse things. To vote for Democrats is to call for government to get rid of individuals, organizations, companies, governments, and countries that are law enforcement, Trump supporters, conservative, patriotic, Republican, American, White, male, older, heterosexual, married, non-poor, gun owners, Christian, Protestant, Italian American, German American, draft avoiders (except Joe Biden and Bill Clinton), and those whose ancestors have been in America for a long time. In my precinct, 61% voted for Democrat Biden and only 36% voted for Republican Trump, 53% voted for Democrat Durbin and only 43% for Republican Curran, and 57% voted for Democrat Casten and only 42% for Republican Ives.)

USA TODAY
— Biden has white men to thank for putting him in the White House While Trump made surprising gains in other demographics, Biden made unexpected gains among white male voters in the election. Here is how he keeps them. – Andrew L. Yarrow (DIERSEN: White men who voted for Biden erroneously believe that because Biden is a White man, Biden will not take adverse actions against White men. I am a White man. I should write a book about other White men who have taken adverse actions against me. I would focus on those who took those adverse actions against me to curry favor with minorities and with females. Further, I am conservative, Republican, old (born in 1948), Protestant (baptized, raised, and confirmed as a Missouri Synod Lutheran), heterosexual, 100% German American, and my ancestors have been in America since 1844. I should write a book about those who are the aforesaid who have taken adverse actions against me. I would focus on those who took those adverse actions against me to curry favor with those who are moderate, liberal, Democrat, Libertarian, Green, Independent, RINO, younger, non-Protestant, LGBTQ, non-German American, and those whose ancestors have not been in America for a long time.)

— Make America incompetent again? Trump wants to ruin our merit-based federal jobs system. Trump wants to bring back a corrupt system of political patronage. Congress and Joe Biden must undo this attack on the capability of our government. – Max Stier (DIERSEN: I should write a book about my Post Office, IRS, and GAO superiors in the federal government. They were always under tremendous pressure from Democrat politicians a) to retain and promote their Democrat employees and b) to get rid of their Republican employees and especially those who were White, male, non-veteran, and/or older.)

SALEM NEWS
— Modern generation gap goes beyond age group – David M. Shribman (DIERSEN: In what ways are you a minority in your neighborhood, in your precinct, in your municipal district, in your municipality, in your township, in your county district, in your county, in Illinois, in America, and in the world? You can be a minority in terms of your race, gender, age group, sexual orientation, marital status, religion, national origin, education, professional certifications/licenses, present/past occupation, employed/self-employed/unemployed/retired, liberal/moderate/conservative, Democrat/Libertarian/Green/Independent/RINO/Republican, income rage, net worth range, veteran status, gun owner/non-gun owner, homeowner/renter, in America legally/illegally, number of years that your ancestors have been in America, etc. Overwhelmingly, people want to live in neighborhoods, precincts, municipal districts, municipalities, county districts, counties, state, and countries where those who share their demographics are the majority.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Consider this: Every American under 40 today — fully a majority of the country — is either a millennial (born 1977-1995) or a Gen Zer (born 1996 or after). Or this: There are more people in the millennial and Gen Z generations than in the baby boom generation, Gen X and the rest of the population combined. And all those people who say they don’t recognize the America they see outside their quarantine windows or behind masks on the streets? They are right. This is not your grandfather’s United States. It is not even your parents’ United States. For the first time in American history, more than half of those under age 16 are part of an ethnic or racial minority. And as white baby boomers age out of the workforce — it is happening every day — all the labor growth will be among racial minorities.)

— Coronavirus Shaking Up Car Buying As Millennials Suddenly See Big Plusses – Neil Winton
https://www.forbes.com/sites/neilwinton/2020/11/15/coronavirus-shaking-up-car-buying-as-millennials-suddenly-see-big-plusses-ey-report/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Millennials are said to despise the fossil-fuel powered car, embrace public transport, worry about climate change above all else and are firmly behind environmentalists’ plans to bring forward the day when the sale of the traditional automobile is banned. But that was before the coronavirus struck. According to a survey across 9 nations undertaken by global consultancy EV, millennials (aged between 24 and 39) are reversing all these assumptions because the coronavirus has made public transport an unattractive prospect, with its requirement for facemasks and the inevitable close proximity to the unknown. The individual, sealed automobile is now a coveted object of desire for getting to work and play. So far so shocking for the conventional wisdom. The headline finding of the report was that nearly 1/3 of people without a car intend to buy one in the next six months, and 45% of those will be millennials. There will be a global boom in car buying in the next six months, not least because of pent-up demand.)

QUALITY MAGAZINE
— Self-Accountability – Jim L. Smith (DIERSEN: My critics/opponents have no self-accountability. They blame their problems on everyone else and especially on me, on what I have done as your GOPUSA Illinois Editor since 2000, and as a Republican Precinct Committeeman since 1999. Previously, they blamed what I did as a TAPROOT Republicans of Illinois chairman 2005-2012, Wheaton Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee member 2003-2011, Milton Township Republican Organization webmaster 2008-2010 and 2000-2004, Illinois Center Right Coalition Steering Committee member 2003-2007, American Association of Political Consultants Midwest Chapter board member 2001-2004, GAO employee 1980-1997, etc.)
https://www.qualitymag.com/blogs/21-jim-s-gems/post/96283-self-accountability
(FROM THE ARTICLE: It has been argued that in recent years personal accountability seems to be diminishing. Let’s explore that for a bit but just what is personal accountability?. . .Except possibly in the case of a genuine and serious mental illness, each of us is responsible for our own actions, no matter what the circumstances. Personal accountability means that we choose to take responsibility for our words, actions, and behaviors, and the outcomes they produce. It does no one any good to blame a television show, a movie, the media, the so-called “system,” or society in general for individual acts of violence or immorality. Personal accountability is the cornerstone of a healthy society just as it is an essential part of a healthy individual. Accountability literally means “account-ability,” that is, owning the ability to account for our own life. To be self-accountable means to be answerable for the obligations and duties we have in our life by the very nature of being a human being. People who are self-accountable answers fundamentally to him- or herself in honoring a code of living, ethics, and integrity that goes to the depth of who we really are. To paraphrase August Wilson, the playwright, ‘we are responsible for the world we live in. It is not the government’s responsibility. It is not our schools or our fellow citizens. It is ours, utterly and singularly ours.’ At the end of the day, we alone are self-accountable.)
