https://www.guns.com/2018/07/24/historic-gun-show-homeless-after-new-firearm-policy-at-fairgrounds/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: An Illinois gun group said they have been forced out of their home of over 50 years due to limits placed on their regular shows by the local fair board. The Pioneer Valley Sportsman’s Association announced this week that restrictions on new shows demanded by the DuPage County Fair Association Board have brought about the demise of their long-held gun show at the public venue. The group said they have held a monthly event at the DuPage County Fairgrounds in Wheaton each October through April for a half-century but the new policy advocated by the board has gone too far and the officials refused to negotiate a compromise.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The Pew Research Center finds that favorable views of the FBI have dropped 16 percentage points among Republicans since early 2017, shortly before the president took office. What’s more, negative views of the bureau have doubled within the party during the same period of time. Just 49 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents now say they have a positive opinion of the bureau, while 44 percent give it negative marks. That’s compared with 65 percent of Republicans who gave the FBI a thumbs up just 18 months ago (and 21 percent who disagreed) — about a three-to-one margin.)

ABC7
— Mayoral candidate Willie Wilson hands out cash at South Side event – Craig Wall
http://abc7chicago.com/politics/mayoral-candidate-willie-wilson-hands-out-cash-at-south-side-event/3812375/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Wilson was called out by Gov. Bruce Rauner, who also attended the event and was put on the hotseat over the perceptions of what went on. “I did not see anybody hand out any cash yesterday,” said Rauner who said he was not aware of Wilson’s giveaway. Rauner said that a candidate for office giving away cash is “outrageous.” Rauner, at a bill signing Monday that dissolved the DuPage County Board of Elections, said he did give Wilson’s foundation $100,000 to help pay people’s property taxes. Wilson kicked in $200,000 of his own and gave away tens of thousands of dollars in cash Sunday to people with other needs. Rauner said if any of his money was handed out in cash, he was going to demand it back. “None of it was the governor’s money, his money was given in checks,” Wilson said. Wilson said he has been giving away about $300,000 to people in need for more than 20 years. “It doesn’t really matter to me what people think, because you should look at my record, it proves I’ve been doing it for years. And people have to make their own decisions from that, but certainly I’m not going to do anything that break any laws,” Wilson said. Wilson and Rauner both said that at no time did they ever ask for people’s votes. The Attorney General’s office, which is the state agency that oversees charities, said it is looking into the charitable aspects of Wilson’s giveaway.)

UNION BULLETIN
— Political web-sites must be clearly marked Unfortunately, a troubling trend has surfaced in which political websites are designed to look like news sites to fool voters. – Editorial (DIERSEN: Ever-increasingly, mainstream news sources promotes the Democrat Party platform, Libertarian Party platform, Green Party platform, and foreign countries. Of course, they falsely deny it. GOPUSA ILLINOIS promotes the Republican Party platform and America.)
http://www.union-bulletin.com/opinion/editorials/political-web-sites-must-be-clearly-marked/article_bce204a4-8c41-11e8-9003-1352a6c3665d.html

(FROM THE EDITORIAL: When it comes to internet shenanigans at election time, the Russians don’t have the market cornered. A few members of the U.S. Congress — Democrats and Republicans — have set up “fake news” websites designed to sway voters in their direction so they can win re-election. Not cool. Tim Johnson of the McClatchy News Service reported that three sitting senators who are in the midst of tough re-election campaigns and one House member have created sites that look like internet news pages, but their aim is to put positive spin on the candidates. For example, Nevada Republican Sen. Deal Heller’s website, NevadaSenateUpdates.com, even has weather and calendar widgets on the top of its page, just like those of a conventional newspaper website. The “paid for by Heller for Senate” is in dim gray type on a black bar at the bottom, Johnson reported. On the other side of the aisle is a the faux internet news site put up by the Missouri Democratic Party — The Missouri Download — to promote the re-election chances of Sen. Claire McCaskill. Johnson reports that its declaimer is almost impossible to read. According to election watchdog groups, these are not isolated incidents, but a troubling trend. “These websites are designed with one thing in mind: to trick the reader into thinking they’re a legitimate news source. And anyone who says otherwise is being disingenuous. A label tucked at the bottom of a web page isn’t enough,” said Aaron Sharockman, executive director of PolitiFact, a fact-checking website. Brendan Fischer, of the Campaign Legal Center, a nonpartisan group on campaign finance and democracy issues, agreed. “You’d have to scroll all the way to the bottom and read the fine print to learn that these sites are actually generated by partisan political actors who are trying to win an election,” Fischer said, adding that structure of the websites indicates that “there is a degree of trust in the news media, and that’s why these candidates and parties are trying to emulate traditional news media sites.” While these campaign websites aren’t illegal, as the source and campaign information are included (albeit it in teeny-tiny print), there are certainly deceitful. All voters — Democrats, Republicans and independents — should be irked. Voters deserve better. Those in office, or seeking office, should want to get information out to the public that is positive to their campaigns and that costs doubts on their opponents. But this must be done in the open. When creating websites for these political purposes, make it crystal clear — in bright, big and bold letters — who is responsible for the content. Then the voters can judge for themselves the credibility. If the public doesn’t push back now on this dubious tactic, the proliferation will continue. It must stop.)

GOP
— Mainstream Media Accountability Survey (DIERSEN: I should conduct a similar survey on the mainstream media in Illinois.)
https://gop.com/msm-media-accountability-survey-new

GOPUSA ILLINOIS
— If you are a conservative Republican, what discourages you from helping elect Republican candidates? For me, it is the candidate’s failure/refusal to defend/advance a) the traditional family, right to life, immigration, Second Amendment, and the rest of the planks in the Illinois Republican Party (IRP) platform and/or b) the illegal drugs, equal opportunity (no race or gender based preference giving), and the rest of the planks in the Republican Party platform. For me, it is the candidate’s failure/refusal to oppose the promotion of dependency on government, dependency on charity, LGBTQ activity, abortion, mass/illegal immigration, diminishment of Second Amendment rights, booze, gambling, pot, and other vices, patronage, political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation. In Illinois, the more actions that “Republican” activists, candidates, elected officials, party leaders, major donors, political consultants, etc. take against the IRP platform, the more that they shout that they are really Democrats, Libertarians, Greens, or RINOs. To get votes from Democrats, from Libertarians, and from Greens, “Republican” candidates who run as RINOs, that is, who run as anti-Republicans, want Republicans to oppose them. Which candidates on the November 6, 2018 ballot in your precinct are you going to help elect? Which of those candidates really do not want you to help elect them? Consequently, to get and retain employees, public sector employers have had to give their employees more generous pensions.)

http://www.wirepoints.com/dear-trustee-jones-and-similar-wirepoints-critics-name-calling-and-censorship-wont-protect-you-from-numbers-and-facts-quicktake/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Kimberly Jones is a trustee of Maine Township, Illinois. Because her comment about us at Wirepoints, made at an open board meeting, is pretty representative of what we hear from those who don’t like us, let me respond, to her and her kind. At a township board meeting last month, she said, ”Wirepoints is not a legitimate newspaper and is a political propaganda paper, not something that should be brought up in a governmental body.” (1:14 mark.) She was responding to a particular Wirepoints article from February by my colleague Ted Dabrowski highlighting how much taxes had increased and how little private sector incomes had risen in the township. Her “argument” is really just a variation of “arguments” all too common. They’re usually comprised of little more than ad hominems and some way to muzzle us is often the hope. Ms. Jones, you can start by going through our article to see that all our data came from credible, official sources. Which ones were wrong? What evidence do you have to the contrary? We spend extraordinary amounts of time trying to get our facts and numbers right. We use original sources and link to them whenever possible. We routinely publish opinions and analyses we don’t agree with. Our work has been cited approvingly in Barron’s, the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Forbes and many other publications. If we get something wrong we correct it, though I’m proud to say we’ve published nothing with a material error I know of in the five years we’ve been around, despite the complexity of what we cover. As for us being political, all of us at Wirepoints forego any campaign activity and political support, but if being fiscal realists is political, so be it. We wear that on our sleeves. We make no effort to hide our contempt for politicians, both Democrats and Republicans like you, who stand against reforms needed to restore Illinois and its municipalities to financial stability. Above all else, we believe in freedom of expression and the marketplace of ideas, especially in government forums like your board meeting at which you think our research should be suppressed. So, to you and others who offer nothing beyond name-calling, put up or shut up. And as for any call for us to be banned from township meetings or anywhere else, drop dead.)

WASHINGTON TIMES
— Trump’s strategic war on the media – Jennifer Harper
https://m.washingtontimes.com/news/2018/jul/19/inside-the-beltway-trumps-strategic-war-on-the-med/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Voters already know that President Trump has confronted a hostile news media, which has produced an unprecedented amount of negative coverage aimed at his campaign, presidency and administration for three years. The practice ultimately may backfire on the press; Americans dislike the media almost as much as the media dislikes Mr. Trump. Almost. Meanwhile, the president continues to maintain an adequate arsenal of ways to counter his journalistic foe. Mr. Trump has a fearless staff. He has a productive relationship with a handful of very powerful news organizations which support him. He bypasses the mainstream media with tactical tweets and social media outreach, issued at all hours. Most importantly, perhaps, Mr. Trump is an irresistible newsmaker and a hands-on master at creating a nimble counternarrative; he both infuriates and fascinates those journalists who attack him, squawk at one another — then race to craft a story. This has been going on since that pivotal moment when Mr. Trump announced his intention to run for president on June 16, 2015. “Politicians are all talk and no action. They will not bring us, believe me, to the promised land,” he told the crowd. But wait, there’s more. Mr. Trump also continues to issue his own substantial public opinion polls, as he has done since his campaign. The latest version is a collection of 27 questions, described by Mr. Trump in the public outreach as a “Mainstream Media Accountability Survey to show the media that the American people are fed up with the Fake News Machine.” He is succinct. Among the questions: “Do you believe the media disdains conservatives?”; “Do you believe the media fails to report on Democrats’ scandals?”; Do you believe that the media purposely tries to divide Republicans in order to help elect Democrats?”; “Do you believe that the Republican Party should spend more time and resources holding the mainstream media accountable?”)

— (State pensions are) Doomed A new study shows that benefits are rising faster than GDP in most states. – Editorial

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Pension costs are soaring across the country, and government unions blame politicians for “under-funding” benefits. Lo, if only taxes were higher, state budgets would be peachy. The real problem, as a new study shows, is that politicians have promised over-generous benefits. In a novel analysis, the Illinois-based policy outfit Wirepoints compared the growth of state pension liabilities relative to state GDP and fund assets. Most studies have examined “unfunded” pension liabilities, which is the difference between current assets and the present value of owed benefits. But this obfuscates the excessive pension promises that politicians have made.)

https://www.federaltimes.com/federal-oversight/congress/2018/07/19/house-moves-forward-on-feds-restricting-bills/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The second bill, the Modern Employment Reform, Improvement and Transformation (MERIT) Act, would reduce the advance notice that an agency must provide to an employee it intends to discipline or remove from 30 days to 15 days. Employees then have, at maximum, seven days to answer to the proposed action against them. “The Civil Service Reform Act of 1978 created a special authority to remove or demote poor performers. However, the GAO found that removing a poor performer under this special authority, which requires a performance improvement plan, can take six months to a year, and sometimes significantly longer. This does not reflect the significant time during an appeal, should things not proceed during the performance improvement plan,” said Rep. Paul Mitchell, R-Mich. “This bill repeals that special authority.” Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., characterized the bill as an attack on federal employees and their due process rights. “The provisions of H.R. 559 would allow broad congressional edict to micromanage agency personnel procedures and limit the ability of the federal workforce to seek justice when treated unfairly by management. The bill does not afford federal workers accused of performance or disciplinary issues adequate time to mount a credible defense and blurs the procedural line between performance-based and disciplinary actions,” the AFGE letter said. The bill passed on a vote of 19 to 11.)

— GAO: VA Is Letting Senior Officials Off the Hook While Disproportionately Punishing Whistleblowers – Eric Katz (DIERSEN: I blew the whistle on political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation while I worked for GAO 1980-1997, for IRS 1971-1980, and for the Post Office 1966-1969. To punish me, a) my Democrat GAO superiors forced me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, gave me unfair performance expectations and appraisals, always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, did not promote me beyond GS-13, got rid of my mentor in 1987, kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and forced me to take an $19,203 pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980; b) my Democrat IRS superiors did not promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, got rid of my mentor in 1975, and disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974; and c) my Democrat Post Office superiors forced me resign in 1969 and disallowed my sick leave requests in 1969 and 1968.)
https://www.govexec.com/management/2018/07/va-letting-senior-officials-hook-while-disproportionately-punishing-whistleblowers-audit-finds/149897/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Congress has for years worked to reform the disciplinary process at VA, with President Trump last year signing into law new procedures that expedite firings and make it easier for the department to prove its case. Those changes may not have taken into account internal failings within VA, the Government Accountability Office found, as it consistently fails to document evidence against employees and notify them of their rights. Additionally, while last year’s Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act sought to protect employees who attempted to shine a light on shortcomings within the agency, GAO found whistleblowers were far more likely to face adverse actions after reporting misconduct. One in 10 employees who brought issues before the Office of Special Counsel were slapped with discipline that same year, compared to one out of 100 VA employees overall.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: When officials at Ford Motor Co. heard that Ms. Nasief, who is known for having participated in the campaign for women’s right to drive, wanted a Mustang, the manufacturer offered to give her one. She asked for the powerful performance car in yellow and black, the colors of her local soccer team, Al-Ittihad, of which she is a die-hard fan. Since it was delivered July 9, she has been driving the Mustang almost nonstop. She zooms down Jeddah’s palm-lined avenues. often with the top down despite sweltering heat, giving rides to various groups of her 16 grandchildren. “I love this car because of its roar,” said Ms. Nasief. “Everybody is staring at me because I’m a woman in a sports car. But why not? We are even better drivers than the men, to be honest.” Ms. Nasief keeps one hand on the steering wheel and the other on the horn, blasting male drivers who fail to use turn signals or who talk on a cellphone while behind the wheel, both common sins on Saudi roads. “If I see them behave badly, I go ‘beep beep!’” she said. “We’ll teach them how to drive.”)

WORLD NET DAILY
— HAPPY WHITE HISTORY MONTH! GET OVER YOUR FEAR! Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson applauds people who ‘founded this country and made it great’ (DIERSEN: My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes disagree with Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson.)
http://www.wnd.com/2018/07/happy-white-history-month-get-over-your-fear/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: For the last 60 years or more, white people have been under attack, falsely called “racist,” and blamed for the failure and problems of black Americans and other so-called “people of color.” Illegal aliens, refugees and immigrants from “s—hole countries” have been allowed to come here, and instead of showing appreciation for the freedom and beauty for their new home, they bring their godless cultures. They vote for socialism and are emboldened in hate, blame and victimhood by our corrupt leftist government, school system and media. Each year reveals new levels of insanity celebrating radical Black History Month, transgender and homosexual history, feminist women – celebration of everyone except for straight, white, conservative Christian men of power. White people have been under attack, unappreciated and under a spell of fear for so long that most of the country can’t even remember that it was whites who made this country the destination that it is! The simple fact remains: Without white people, there would be no America. White men founded this country and made it great. White men like President Trump are the last ones holding America together – and it is hanging by a thread. So out of appreciation, I deemed July as White History Month. For some reason, whites allowed others to come in to this country who would turn around and betray them! Reportedly, whites will soon be a minority in their own country! If we allow the vilification and replacement of whites to continue, then our country will become a ghetto. We will see more black-on-white crime, more laws against Christians and men, a total loss of freedom, and destruction of communities. Mark my words, if we don’t stop this attack upon white people, we will become like South Africa where black communists seek to take white farmers’ private land without compensation. Blacks hunt down, torture and kill white farmers, including women and children – and murder one another in the townships. Riots and destruction of property are the norm. Families are destroyed, the economy is hurting, disease is rampant, and there’s a lack of morality or responsibility among the people. We caught a glimpse of this in America under President Obama, the worst and most hated president the country ever experienced. He brought the radical hate group Black Lives Matter and other evil people to the White House regularly. He sowed division, hatred and suspicion toward whites, police, Christians, business owners and men. Race riots, targeted cop killings, and black-on-black murder all increased because he validated criminals and thugs while demonizing and marginalizing the good people. Thankfully, white men and women, and a growing number of “people of color,” woke up and supported the Great White Hope, President Trump. He’s working overtime to Make America Great Again. He’s sending the illegals back, not falling for the media propaganda about the “children” whom criminal adults intentionally brought here. He’s building a big beautiful wall on the border. He gives no play to Black Lives Matter and antifa (Occupy Wall Street communists). Trump is a man of courage and action, with love for the country and no fear. He’s from the old school! Men of other races have been destroyed. Now evil seeks to destroy white men. Although most are still conservative, they’ve grown very weak, afraid to stand up for themselves and what’s right. Their parents let them down. They should watch and learn from the president. On my daily call-in show on Newsmax TV and YouTube, I greet people, “Happy White History Month!” I offer the same wishes while going about my day at the gym, the bank, post office and gas station – “Happy White History Month!” Some are grateful. Most react with laughter, confusion or anger. Many believed that “white history” was observed “every day,” but it’s not – whites are only cast negatively by the children of the lie. Some friends and callers express concern for my safety, fearing a violent backlash against White History Month. We should be wary of violent leftists and white haters, given the incitement by anti-Trump agitators like Maxine Waters (the Wicked Witch of the West), corrupt government officials, media and Hollywood. There are places where it’s not safe to be an open Trump supporter. But the children of the lie proudly tout their beliefs with no sense of shame for being wrong – they’re in your face promoting evil! If you are a child of God, you have no fear. Perfect love, the nature of God, drives out fear. But if you have fear, you are still of your father the devil. In counseling and talking with people, I notice most men and women have fear. Men are afraid to deal with their wives. Grown men and women are afraid to face their mothers and be honest with them! Where does fear come from? Anger and unforgiveness. Unless you forgive, you will not be forgiven. And you will have all of the children of anger: fear, doubt, insecurity and suicidal thoughts. So forgive and be free! Watch video from The Jesse Lee Peterson Show: “Fear Is the Worst Thing You Can Have. (Happy White History Month!)”)

NEW YORK TIMES
— FRONT PAGE TOP OF FOLD: DIERSEN HEADLINE: Anti-Trumps demonize, denigrate, and condemn Kavanaugh as being an “Influential Judge, Loyal Friend, Conservative Warrior — and D.C. Insider.” What do your critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes demonize, denigrate, and condemn you as being? Mine stress that I am a Trump supporter, Protestant (baptized, raised, and confirmed as a Missouri Synod Lutheran), conservative, patriotic, Republican, American, White, male, old (almost 70), non-poor, gun owner, 100% German American, draft avoider, my ancestors have been in America since 1844, union member for almost 12 years, federal employee for almost 30 years, federal retiree for almost 21 years, childless, pet-less, and American nameplate car owner. They stress the adverse actions that my GAO, IRS, and Post Office superiors took against me, especially their forcing me to take their early retirement “offer” in 1997 when I was 49 years old. They stress that I am no longer a TAPROOT Republicans of Illinois chairman, Wheaton Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee member, Milton Township Republican Central Committee webmaster, Illinois Center Right Coalition Steering Committee (ICRC) member, or American Association of Political Consultants Midwest Chapter board member. They stress that my fellow ICRC members let a motion to censure me at their 2006 annual convention be voted on.)

MONEY MAGAZINE
— Should I Take a Pay Cut? Determine whether your financial situation can support a lower salary. – Susannah Snider (DIERSEN: Have you taken a pay cut? I have. In 1980, when I was 31 years old, I took a $19,203 (26%) pay cut in today’s dollars (from GS-12 Step 5 down to GS-9 Step 10) to transfer from IRS to GAO. QUESTION: Why did I do that? ANSWER: GAO claimed to be nonpartisan and independent. My Democrat superiors and Money Magazine had ruined my IRS career. GAO employees are somewhat less demonized, denigrated, and condemned than IRS employees. Because GAO audits IRS, I could use my knowledge of IRS on audits of IRS. I had worked for IRS for almost 9 years, the last 5 1/2 years of which at the GS-12 Step 1-5 levels, currently $81,071-$91,880. The GAO staff manager who hired me was confident that he could a) promptly get me assigned to audits of IRS and b) promptly promote me to GS-11 Step 10, currently $87,933, to GS-12 Step 5 salary, currently $91,880, and to GS-13 Step 1, currently $96,403. But soon after I transferred to GAO, that GAO manager was deposed and he was not able to promote me to GS-11 Step 10 until 1981, to GS-12 Step 5 salary until 1982, and to GS-13 Step 1 until 1986. In 1986, he finally succeeded in getting me assigned to audits of IRS. In 1987, his Democrat superiors succeeded in forcing him to retire. To justify their forcing me to take a pay cut to transfer from IRS to GAO, my Democrat GAO superiors dismissed/belittled/badmouthed/demonized/denigrated/condemned a) my knowledge of IRS, b) my passing the CPA examination on my first attempt in 1979, c) my almost completing the requirements for a master’s degree in accounting from DePaul, and d) my earning a MBA from Loyola in 1976. They would not have done that if I had been a Democrat, a minority, a female, or a veteran. Money Magazine, my Democrat superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinate, and the rest of my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have always viciously demonized me, viciously denigrated me, and viciously condemned me as being overpaid.)
