(FROM THE ARTICLE: If you’re white and work for the federal government, get ready to be labelled a racist, regardless of how fair and open-minded you are. On Friday, President Joe Biden ordered all federal agencies to ramp up workplace training on “systemic and institutional racism” and “implicit and unconscious bias.” Those are buzzwords for critical race theory, which holds that all whites are biased against people of color, even if unconsciously. Under this theory, throughout American history and continuing now, whites oppress Blacks and need to acknowledge their guilt. Assume you work in an office with people of several races and, until now, you worked pretty smoothly as a team. Then you and your co-workers undergo mandated critical race theory training. Whites will be ridiculed as racists, and if they try to deny that, they’ll be told their denials are proof of their unconscious bias and “white fragility.” Black employees will understandably question if they can even trust their white co-workers and if they all have the same goals. Critical race theory is a disaster for workplace morale. Expect an avalanche of lawsuits challenging Biden’s efforts to saturate the federal workplace with this divisive doctrine. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 — still the law of the land, Mr. President — bars employers from allowing a toxic work environment. Federal regulation defines a toxic work environment as permitting “intimidation, ridicule or mockery, insults or put downs” based on race, religion, age or other distinctions. That’s exactly what goes on in these training sessions. No one should have to put up with being called a racist as a condition of their employment.)

— From what I see, it is ever-increasingly clear that DuPage County Democrats want to punish Trump and punish his supporters for the January 6 Capitol Riot by stopping DuPage County Republicans from sponsoring Wheaton’s 2021 Independence Day Parade and Fireworks. Needless-to-say, that is unacceptable.

I certainly hope that all of the following have entries in the parade: Republican candidates for U.S. Senate, U.S. Representative in the DuPage County area, Illinois statewide offices, Illinois Senate and Representative in the DuPage County area, DuPage countywide offices, DuPage County Board and Forest Preserve offices, and judicial candidates.

It is Wheaton’s Independence Day Parade and Fireworks, not the Wheaton Park District’s Parade and Fireworks. Wheaton has given $30,000 to the Park District with $10,000 earmarked for parade entries and $20,000 earmarked for fireworks.

The more money that the Park District has for parade entries, the more and better entries that it can schedule.

The following is what I will ask Wheaton’s Mayor and Wheaton’s City Council to do at its meeting Monday evening, June 7, 2021 at 7:00 PM:

Direct the Wheaton Park District to:

— Use the same policy for sponsorship of Wheaton’s 2021 Independence Day Parade and Fireworks that it used for sponsorship of its 2019 Independence Day Parade and Fireworks, that is, allow DuPage Republicans to again donate $2,500 to be the top sponsor and earmark that donation for the bagpipers and high school bands, unless, of course, if the bagpipers and/or high school bands object to such earmarking

— Contract with bagpipers, for example, the Tunes of Glory Pipes and Drums or Chicago Highlanders Pipes & Drums, to march in the parade

— Contract with the Wheaton North and Wheaton Warrenville South high schools for their bands to march in the parade

— Publish and keep updated a list on its website of all parade entries as they come in

— Publish a detailed financial report a) on the money that it took in for the 2019 and prior Wheaton Independence Day parades and fireworks and b) how it spent that money for parade entries, etc.

— Report to Wheaton how it has/will spent/spend the $10,000 that it has received from the City of Wheaton for the 2021 parade and fireworks

— Report to Wheaton on what it has done, is doing, and will do to make Wheaton’s 2021 Independence Day Parade as successful as it can be in terms of a) number and quality of parade entries, b) promotion of the parade, c) etc.
