(FROM THE ARTICLE: More than 200 people marched 4 miles Sunday from a park in the Pilsen neighborhood toward U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement headquarters in the South Loop to support the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program now under review by the Trump administration. Immigration advocates and supporters from several groups, including Black Lives Matter Chicago and Refuse Fascism, gathered at Harrison Park and chanted “Si se puede” (Spanish for “Yes, we can”) as they marched up 18th Street toward the Loop, calling on President Donald Trump to save the program created by the Obama administration that shields young immigrants from deportation and provides work permits for employment. Ald. Raymond Lopez, 15th, addressed the crowd and called on the country to be united, “regardless of color and origin.” He said Trump “makes a mockery” of the nation. “No matter who is in the White House, no matter who is in Congress, you were here before them and you will be here after them,” Lopez said. “Chicago is committed to being a welcoming city to everyone who wants to be here.” Karen Ramirez, 26, a Pilsen resident and DACA recipient, said she and fellow program recipients are productive members of society who are fighting for the chance to stay in America because they consider it home. “This is our country. This is our home. A lot of us don’t even know what our native countries look like,” Ramirez said. “We are asking everyone to please come together and help us to fight to stay in this country,” she said. “At the end of the day, Dreamers are Americans too.” Cecilia Garcia, a local immigration activist, said the program recipients are marching to mobilize their allies and to let the president know that there will be resistance if he moves to cancel the program. “Now we wait another day to see if the Trump administration will make 800,000 Dreamers outlaws with the stroke of a pen,” she said. The rally was organized by Familia Latina Unida. Former President Barack Obama launched the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program in 2012 for people who have been in the U.S. since 2007, were younger than 16 at the time of their arrival and were younger than 31 as of 2012. Those enrolled can legally drive and work, but they must reapply every two years. They are considered a low priority for immigration enforcement, though they are not protected from deportation. The Trump administration has until Tuesday to eliminate the program or face legal action from a group of Republican state lawmakers. Illinois has the nation’s fourth-largest population of DACA recipients — the highest share in the Midwest. At least 42,376 Illinoisans have been approved since March 31, according to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. Current students, high school or GED course graduates and veterans are eligible for the program. They must be at least 15 to apply, unless they’re in removal proceedings or have a final removal or voluntary departure order. Immigrants who have committed a serious crime, have more than two misdemeanor convictions or are deemed to be a threat to national security are automatically disqualified. Nationally, about 68 percent of eligible immigrants have applied for the program since 2012, according to the Migration Policy Institute. More than 886,000 people have applied and 787,580 have been approved. The White House said a decision will be announced Tuesday.)

Because I have always been a Republican, they wasted my career and got rid of me. My Democrat Post Office superiors forced me resign in 1969 and disallowed my sick leave requests in 1969 and 1968. My Democrat IRS superiors did not promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, and disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974. My Democrat GAO superiors forced me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, did not promote me beyond GS-13, kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and forced me to take an $18,847 pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980. They would not taken the aforesaid adverse actions against me if I had been a Democrat, a minority, a female, or a veteran. Because I have always been a Republican, were it not for federal civil service protections, a) the Post Office would NOT have hired me in 1966 or let me work there for almost 3 years, b) IRS would NOT have hired me in 1971 or let me work there for almost 9 years, c) IRS would NOT have promoted me in 1972, 1973, or 1974, d) GAO would NOT have hired me in 1980 or let me work there for almost 18 years, and e) GAO would NOT have promoted me in 1986.)

However, many, if not most, if not virtually everyone viewed me as not being “college material.” Neither of my parents had attended college. My father was the first of his ancestors to earn a high school diploma. My mother never attended high school. — Are you an elected official?  What is your position on redistricting, that is, what is your position on changes being made to the borders of the political jurisdiction in which you were elected?  Do you want to be notified in a timely manner of any proposed changes to those borders? To you want the opportunity to be able to object to proposed changes in a timely manner?

 

In DuPage County, elected Precinct Committeemen do not have that opportunity. The DuPage County Election Commission (DCEC) did not post maps of its many proposed changes to many precincts until July 12, 2017 and it will vote on accepting those proposed changes at its July 26, 2017 meeting.  My understanding is that the proposed changes affect about 100,000 voters, an unknown number of polling places, 276 precincts including 101 in Downers Grove Township and 27 in Milton Township, and 60 new precincts would be created including 12 in Downer Grove Township and 6 in Milton Township.

 

I have asked the DCEC for, but I have not been provided with a) a list of the 276 affected precincts broken out by the 9 townships, b) indication of which of those 276 precincts have elected Precinct Committeemen, and c) their contact information. Each of the elected Precinct Committeemen in those 276 affected precincts should have long since have been provided with a detailed map that precisely shows proposed changes to their precinct down to individual addresses.

 

Outrageously, most, if not virtually all of the elected Precinct Committeemen affected by the proposed changes have not been individually notified that DCEC has proposed changes to their precinct borders.

 

I have asked the DCEC to immediately and individually notify by regular mail and by email each and every elected Precinct Committeeman in precincts affected by DCEC’s proposed changes.  Please join me in this request by emailing and/or by phoning the following: Cathy Terrill – Chairperson at cterrill@dupageco.org and 630-407-5697; James S. According to several Republican DuPage County Township Party Chairman, the DCEC does not want to deal with individual elected Precinct Committeemen, and therefore, it will only deal with county party chairmen and with township party chairmen concerning proposed changes. Needless-to-say, that is outrageous.  Two years ago, I was not notified in a timely manner of dramatic changes to my Milton Township Precinct 9. Further, it appears that as Democrats flood DuPage County, many changes to many precincts will have to be made every 2 years from now on.

 

While I worked for the federal government for almost 30 years, my Democrat superiors did everything that they could to delay if not to stop me from getting information that I could have used to avoid the adverse employment actions that they took against me.

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Like previous violations of law by public officials in DuPage and other counties, instead of following the law, they simply get the law changed – which is their right to try and accomplish, but it sets a bad precedent for Illinois public officials – one that essentially breeds corruption by demonstrating that laws do not matter. Previous changes have been to pass a Bill concerning the election code, and backdate its effective date to allow extended times for publication of referendum. Another was to change the township code to authorize giving away mulch and delivering it onto private property. And changing the way drug funds must be utilized, after writing about a rogue State’s Attorney who chose to spend it outside what the current law allowed. (FROM THE ARTICLE: On Wednesday, Hannity sent a steady stream of tweets that targeted Media Matters for America, the liberal lobbyists who a day earlier had posted a list of his show’s advertisers on its web site. Targeting a show’s advertisers is a potent line of attack in television; the swift abandonment of Bill O’Reilly’s advertisers last month after the revelation of settlements paid to women to quiet harassment charges was widely considered a factor in his firing by Fox. Media Matters is “targeting my advertisers to silence my voice,” Hannity tweeted. “They hope to get me fired. Rush (Limbaugh), O’Reilly, (Glenn) Beck, (Don) Imus and now me.” He posted a series of links to articles about Media Matters’ funding, and ties to figures reviled by many conservatives, like George Soros and Bill Clinton. Media Matters denied that it was mounting a pressure campaign focusing on Hannity’s advertisers. The organization’s president Angelo Carusone said he hadn’t spoken to any sponsors. He said he wanted advertisers to be aware of Hannity’s “volatility” as part of a general Media Matters campaign to get them to think about advertising on Fox; Media Matters hasn’t posted a list of sponsors for any other specific show. Saying there’s no boycott campaign may be a distinction without a difference, however. Media Matters listed on its website more than 150 companies that had run commercials on “Hannity” in May, ranging from Lexus to Reddi-wip to Comedy Central. Hannity tweeted Wednesday that he’d spoken to several of his advertisers and they said they’d been “inundated” with emails urging them to stop running commercials on his show. Cars.com said in a statement that its decision to advertise on a show doesn’t mean it agrees or disagrees with its content. “We don’t have the ability to influence content at the time we make our advertising purchase,” the company said. “In this case, we’ve been watching closely and have recently made the decision to pull our advertising from Hannity.” The company did not make clear when it made that decision or what about Hannity’s content influenced its executives. A company representative did not immediately return a call seeking comment. By alerting his supporters about the list of advertisers, Hannity has played into his critics’ hands, Carusone said. “He has demonstrated that he’s totally volatile and out of control,” he said. “Hannity has done more to create pressure for his advertisers than I have.” Carusone suggested that Hannity is “acting out of fear and anxiety over the future of Fox News by preying on the fears and anxieties of his audience.” “We’re not running a campaign to get him fired right now,” he said.)
