With the money that I earned, I bought a new 1966 Pontiac Tempest Sprint, a poor man’s GTO, in May of 1966, and I used it to get to/from my parents’ home in Crete and summer jobs and then classes at UIC and my part-time Park Forest Post Office job. When you were in high school, did your classmates work part-time during the school year and/or full-time during the summers in between like I did? Few of my high school classmates did. There were few good jobs available. I worked far too many hours washing dishes instead of studying. Nevertheless, I took college preparatory classes, I got an ACT score of 24, I got into the upper 20% of my class, and UIC accepted me.

They were overjoyed when my Democrat GAO superiors forced me to retire when I was 49 years in 1997 and gave my job and my preferred corner office to my Black subordinate. He had less work experience than I had. He had less education than I had. He had one professional certification while I had six. He had no professional license like the one I had.
