Organized by Kendall Action, a conservative fundraising PAC, the event was part sermon, “a revival born in Charlie Kirk’s name,” part rally, with Darren Bailey campaigning as a Republican candidate for governor. A unifying message shared by the crowd was that the Sept. 10 killing of Kirk by a sniper’s bullet took something personal away from each of them, something that touches their faith. “When we exchange ideas as a society, we win,” State Rep. Jed Davis, R-Newark, said to the crowd. “When you start to silence that opportunity, that God-given right the founders of this nation wrote into the Constitution, that we have the right to free speech, the right to have free and open dialogue, when that is silenced, the people lose.” Kicking off his election tour, Bailey, a former Republican state senator, called Kirk’s killing a tragic loss of “a great American treasure.” He brought up Abraham Lincoln’s prescient warning. “He warned that if we as America falter and lose our freedom, it won’t happen from outside our borders, but it will happen from within,” Bailey said during the rally. “We’ve got a governor who’s using all of this as rhetoric against us to make life more unsafe for us.” In an interview, Bailey was asked what can be done to tone down political violence. “We need to focus on the people that we’re electing, because we have to bring unity to this nation,” Bailey said. “We look for a stronger and different candidate to take that position, a leader who’s bold and courageous and desires unity instead of division.”)

DuPage County, Illinois GOP Chairman Kevin Coyne went viral on Monday after criticizing a gruesome political stunt at “Riot Fest” in a now-deleted post to X. Riot Fest ’25 occurred on September 19 through September 21 at Douglass Park in the City of Chicago. According to The New York Post, during a performance by GWAR, a metal band that was first formed back in 1984, band members performed a mock beheading of Elon Musk, as well as a mock killing of President Donald J. Trump. While the band is known for its grotesque stunts, several social media users voiced criticism due to the political environment in the United States following the assassination of conversative activist Charlie Kirk. “That’s not edgy, it’s grotesque and reckless and normalizes violence against a real person. This is not okay. Riot Fest and GWAR crossed a major line,” a social media user wrote, per The Post. Screenshots of the now-deleted post appear to show that Coyne, who was in attendance at Riot Fest, wrote the following in reaction to GWAR’s stunt: “Riot Fest, it’s always so …. Interesting. Could’ve done without all the politics from the stage but it was fun nonetheless. Apparently we can’t even go to concerts now without the political divide being tossed in our faces. We’ll still go back but it was obnoxious.” The screenshot appears to show that Coyne’s post was seen more than 2.5 million times before being deleted. The message is followed by an @ to an apparent parody Riot Fest account, which boasts more than 95,000 followers. The Riot Fest parody account responded to Coyne’s criticism, writing the following, according to a screenshot: “Shut the (expletive) up you dork (expletive) loser. Seriously some of the softest dumbest people on the internet.” After being accused of “normalizing violence,” a GWAR representative issued the following statement to the publication: “Normalizing violence? Humans don’t need GWAR for that. There is nothing normal about the Looney Toon violence acted out on a GWAR stage. GWAR is absurdist spectacle. GWAR is to violence what the New York Post is to journalism. Ridiculous.” The Anonymous X account also chimed in on the discussion, writing the following: ““(Expletive) Elon Musk. Call the manager you (expletive) loser. It’s like you never heard of GWAR before you (expletive) p–y,” Riot Fest is a three-day festival that was first held in 2005, and is one of the largest independently-owned music festivals in the United States.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Police removed a small group of protesters Sunday night who disrupted a prayer rally in Wheaton honoring the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The event drew about 1,500 attendees and was organized by local church leaders and Decision Point USA. The prayer rally took place under the French Market Pavilion in downtown Wheaton. Organizers said the event was held to pray for revival in the city, schools, churches, and the nation. “In this moment of grief and urgency, we believe God is our only hope,” a flyer from Decision Point USA said. “Together, we will lift our voices and ask Him to raise up courageous leaders, heal our land and pour out His Spirit on the next generation.” The meeting was organized by leaders from four churches in the Wheaton area who said they believe this time is an opportunity for community revival. The rally, structured around Christian worship and calls for unity, was briefly disrupted when several protesters, some masked and carrying signs, began shouting during a moment of prayer. “Bruha started by the few but noisy and disrespectful protestors during the prayer at the Wheaton Charlie Kirk Memorial tonight,” user Babette Holder said in a Facebook post. Wheaton police responded and escorted the protesters from the area. The rally continued as planned, ending with hymns “I Have Decided to Follow Jesus” and “In Christ Alone.” Photos from the event showed protesters holding signs with messages such as “Honoring Charlie Kirk = Honoring Racism, Bigotry, Misogyny” and “I do not support what happened to Charlie but Charlie supported what happened to Charlie.” One protester wore a shirt with “Palestine” printed on it, while another’s shirt displayed a profanity directed at President Donald Trump and his supporters. . .According to reports, the protesters were allegedly affiliated with Mutual Aid Dawning (MAD), a Glen Ellyn-based group formed during the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests in Chicago. Those protests involved widespread property damage and arrests. MAD’s website describes the group as “intergenerational, largely non-religious and queer with sexualities and genders across the spectrum.” The group identifies with anti-capitalist and anti-colonial ideologies. The website includes political education materials referencing historical figures, including Mao Zedong. Critics have noted Mao’s legacy includes responsibility for millions of deaths and ongoing repression in China. MAD describes the suburban communities where it organizes as “highly resourced yet highly unengaged,” and states its goal is to challenge perceived complicity in systems of oppression. Though the protesters were few in number, their presence drew concern among attendees and organizers, who said the disruption highlighted a broader cultural and political divide. Breakthrough Ideas, an organization led by former state representative Jeanne Ives, responded to the event by calling for “more speech, not less,” and said Kirk’s vision based on constitutional and biblical principles must be defended publicly. “They’re hoping (Kirk’s) murder isn’t a real Turning Point in America,” the group said in a newsletter. “They hope people don’t start to evaluate the culture and realize that the Left has been feeding children, young adults, and even boomers progressive nonsense that debases society and breaks the social and constitutional contract that citizens in a free society should have with each other.”)
