Jeanne Ives The spot is a likely ploy to help Illinois Democrat Rep. Sean

DCCC ad, to run on Facebook, Instagram and other digital platforms in the 6th
District, is headlined, “Jeanne Ives backs Trump 100 percent of the time,
noting “Ives is as far-right as they come and stands with President Trump 100
percent” on opposing gun reform, abortion and LGBTQ rights. Both Ives and
Sanguinetti support Trump’s reelection. Rauner tried to keep his distance from
Trump during much of his time as governor. Trump remains popular with
Republicans. Kathleen Murphy, an Ives spokesman, told the Sun-Times, that the
DCCC is “sorely miscalculating what this race is going to be, then. Nothing we’ve
seen indicates that Jeanne would be easier to beat than Evelyn Sanguinetti.
That would be a serious miscalculation on their part.” Sanguinetti told the
Sun-Times in an email, “It’s no surprise the Democrats know I am the only
candidate that can beat Casten next November and are resorting to primary
meddling to ensure he gets the opponent he can defeat.” The DCCC ad is taking a
cue from the Democratic Governors Association playbook. Before the March 2018

in an attempt to defeat Rauner, who won with 51 percent of the vote.)

DeKalb’s City Council, mayor and city manager all serve at the pleasure of the
voters of DeKalb. They do not have the right to overrule the will of the
people. Politicians and appointed officials believe they know instinctively

Schoenburg https://www.sj-r.com/x1782330063/Bernard-Schoenburg-A-bunch-of-political-info-daily (FROM THE ARTICLE: There
are lots of websites that compile political news, and I think it’s time I share
one that I find quite interesting. It’s at www.gopillinois.com,
and, as you can tell by its address, it has a Republican flavor. That is an
understatement reinforced with the comments added by the compiler himself —
DAVID DIERSEN of Wheaton. He introduced a recent UPI story about Republicans’
views on the drought and wildfires by saying: “Democrats blame everything bad,
including bad weather, on Republicans, especially on Republicans who are
conservative, White, male, older, non-poor and non-veteran.” And talking of a
New York Times article about a photographer arrested while on assignment in the
Bronx, Diersen wrote that since 2000, he has been thrown out of, barred from,
or not advised of news conferences “by Democrats, Democrat plants, RINOs
(Republicans in name only), their operatives, and their dupes.” Thus, if you
don’t want to read some very pointed comments, you may not want to go to www.gopillinois.com. But you would be missing a treasure of links
to the day’s news and opinion. Diersen, 63, is a retired federal employee who
became the Illinois editor of a national GOP website in 2000, and since 2004
has put out his own Illinois compilation every day. There’s usually about 50
articles daily, he says. He’s generally up by 3 a.m. He says he spends at least
10 hours a day on this passion of his, with no pay, and has put out links to
more than 117,000 articles. As his comments above hinted, party regulars don’t
always greet his work with relish. He includes dissident voices within the GOP
tent, and some whose credibility is questionable. But he puts it all out there.
He’s a GOP precinct committeeman, and he believes in people having information.
He also wants to help elect Republican candidates who “will defend and advance
the party’s platform.” The site makes available plenty of Diersen history, too,
including how his “liberal Democrat superiors,” in his view, forced him to take
early retirement at 49 from the U.S. General Accounting Office, “because of his
opposition to race and gender based preference and his participation in a class
action lawsuit” on that subject. He wouldn’t mind my telling you that he also
passed his CPA and Certified Internal Auditor exams on first attempts more than
three decades ago. Agree or disagree with him, but Diersen provides a bunch of
interesting information — every day.)

Traditionally, the two political days at the State Fair are reserved for
parties to enthuse the base with the message. Certainly, on Wednesday, when
U.S. House Speaker NANCY PELOSI spoke at the Crowne Plaza to the Illinois Democratic

hosted (and paid for personally) at the Director’s Lawn at the State Fair as a
bipartisan event, and said he invited all lawmakers, including Republicans.

he received the invitation, he probably would have attended.)

GOPUSA ILLINOIS
— Past and present candidates and elected officials who spoke at the Milton
Township Republican Central Committee (MTRCC) meeting Wednesday evening, August
14, 2019, at the Holiday Inn in Carol Stream included Almiron, Corrigan,
Diersen, Eckhoff, Fitch, Grant, Heidorn, Holder, Ives, Kachiroubas, Keller,
Kinzler, Krzyzewski, Larsen, McCluskey, McGowen, Monino, Seppelfrick, Walsh,
and Whelan. Meeting attendees included Baker, Bohn, Carlson, Caruso, Cooper,

Kachiroubas, Krzyzewski, Larsen, LeVan, Lofgren, Lollino, McCarthy, McNeily,
Muehlfelt, Nathwani, Rash, Ryan, Shaw, Smith, Tatro, Veenstra, and Zaruba.
Judge McCluskey announced his candidacy for the upcoming Judge George J.
Bakalis vacancy. Larsen reported on what DuPage County is doing concerning the
pot issue. Fitch reported on what Wheaton is doing concerning the West District
City Council vacancy and the pot issue. Sadly, its seems like the majority of
Republican Precinct Committeemen in Wheaton’s West District are not interested
in getting together and gathering information on the West District candidates,
hosting a candidate forum, or recommending any of the 10 candidates who have
applied to be appointed to fill the vacancy. Sadly, it seems like the majority
of Milton Township Republican Precinct Committeemen are not interested in
getting together and urging DuPage County, Wheaton, or Glen Ellyn to ban the
sale of pot. Sadly, it seems like the majority of Milton Township Republican
Precinct Committeemen side with my critics/opponents, their operatives, and

NEWS PRESS
— JUNE 22, 2018 FLASHBACK: The News-Press will vet candidates, dissect issues
but stop endorsing – Tom Hayden (DIERSEN: How deeply will the Daily Herald,
Suburban Life, Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, etc. vet (questionnaires,
background checks and interviews) the 10 candidates to be appointed to fill the
Wheaton City Council West District vacancy? Will the aforesaid newspapers a)
conduct candidate forums and/or b) endorse one of those 10 candidates? What
endorsement criteria will they use?) https://www.news-press.com/story/opinion/2018/06/22/news-press-vet-candidates-dissect-issues-but-stop-endorsing/722444002/ (FROM THE ARTICLE: Two
weeks ago, the News-Press asked the community to weigh in on our process of
endorsing political candidates. The question was: To endorse or not to endorse?
The feedback was voluminous and passionate. Thirty-eight people wrote to say we
should stop endorsing candidates in various city, county, state and federal
races and 35 said we should continue. A common theme in most of the responses
was an appreciation for our diligence in vetting the candidates through
questionnaires, background checks and interviews. They wanted the information
to help them decide on whom should get their vote. We agree the most important
part of what we do — and we do it better than most — is going in-depth with the
candidates on the issues. Getting specific answers to and solutions for some of
our most critical issues, like water quality and the environment, affordable
and attainable housing, the mental health and opioid crisis, how to improve
education and build new schools, mean the most to people. That same information
also was vital for us in endorsing candidates.)
