MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL
— With silence from Milwaukee officials, rumors have grown about the Molson Coors shooting. Here’s what we know. – Ashley Luthern and Gina Barton
https://www.jsonline.com/story/news/crime/2020/03/03/milwaukee-molson-coors-shooting-facts-behind-racism-noose-rumors/4934728002/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Company addresses harassment allegations In Milwaukee, a city known for its racial disparities, discussion on social media and elsewhere has increasingly turned to the shooter’s possible motive, with several former workers describing a hostile, and at times racist, work environment. The shooter’s family has declined all interview requests to discuss his background and any possible racism he experienced at work. However, on Tuesday, the company acknowledged that five years ago, a noose was placed on or in his locker. “The employee was not working that day, our HR team notified him of the incident, it was investigated fully,” Adam Collins, chief communications and corporate affairs officer for Molson Coors, said in a statement. In addition, reports have surfaced that the shooter had ongoing tensions with at least one co-worker. Company officials are not aware of any formal complaints by the shooter to management or human resources about racist harassment, nor are they aware of the shooter filing any Equal Employment Opportunity Commission or state agency complaints related to race discrimination or harassment, according to information Molson Coors provided Tuesday. In an email to employees Tuesday, Molson Coors CEO Gavin Hattersley acknowledged the rumors and commentary on the company’s culture. “Our emotions are running high and that’s compounded by what we see and hear in the press and across social media,” he wrote, later adding: “And with few facts available, it’s easy to resort to speculating about the reasons behind the shootings.” “In the meantime, I want to be absolutely clear on one thing: We do not tolerate any kind of harassment whatsoever,” Hattersley wrote. “We have investigated, and we will investigate, every complaint of harassment, intolerance or misconduct that is raised. And we have taken, and we will take, appropriate action in response to complaints.”)

https://www.wsj.com/articles/for-growing-numbers-of-struggling-u-s-cities-the-downturn-has-arrived-11583248603
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Few municipalities are in a deeper hole for their size than Harvey, a city of 24,641 that was founded in 1891 by a lumber tycoon. Harvey, located about 17 miles south of downtown Chicago, grew into an industrial center, producing car mufflers, farm and mining equipment and military airplane parts. When Mr. Clark, the new mayor, was born a half-century ago, the population was nearly 35,000. Roughly 46% of employed men over 16 worked in manufacturing, according to the 1970 census. “Everybody had a nice fenced-off yard,” Mr. Clark recalled of his boyhood neighborhood. “There was either a Cadillac or a Lincoln in front.” The local Dixie Square Mall had more than 50 stores, including Woolworth and Montgomery Ward. Mr. Clark drove a forklift before getting a scholarship to law school. He opened his law practice 10 years ago in a former jewelry store downtown. Factories closed in the 1980s, taking jobs with them. By 1990, nearly 15% of men ages 25 to 54 were unemployed, according to the census. Dixie Square Mall was demolished in 2012 after closing years earlier.)

According to my Democrat and Democrat plant, Libertarian and Libertarian plant, Green and Green plant, and RINO critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes in Wheaton, in Milton Township, in DuPage County, and in Illinois, no one should vote for any candidate that I might recommend because the candidates who I might recommend are “too conservative” to win in general elections.)

GOVERNMENT EXECUTIVE
— Civil Service Reform, Again – HOWARD RISHER (DIERSEN: Democrats run the federal government. They focus on hiring, retaining, and promoting young Democrat minorities and young Democrat females. That means wasting the careers of and getting rid of federal employees who are Republican, White, male, and/or non-veteran who do not make GS-13 (currently $101,176) by age 25, GS-14 (currently $119,559) by age 30, GS-15 (currently $140,634) by age 35, and Senior Executive Service (currently $170,800) by age 40. Extremely few make the aforesaid promotion deadlines.)
https://www.govexec.com/management/2020/03/civil-service-reform-again/163480/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: he recently released report from the Republican Study Committee’s Government Efficiency, Accountability and Reform Task Force identified civil service reform as one of three pillars to produce “a more efficient, effective, and accountable government.” The report correctly observes that without the “right people” meaningful reform cannot be implemented. However, the basic changes needed to attract the necessary talent—hiring reform, pay reform and benefits reform—have been proposed repeatedly in reports going back decades. At this point, no one would argue that the civil service system serves the needs of government or the country. The system impedes badly needed change. But it’s very likely this latest report will be quickly forgotten, just like all such previous reports.)

Neither the RNC, IRP, DCRCC, nor MTRO a) pay me anything, b) help me put the emails together or send them out, or c) encourage anyone to read the emails. I should write a book about those who paint themselves as being operatives or as dupes for the RNC, IRP, DCRCC, and/or MTRO who do everything that they can a) to stop me from putting the emails together and sending them out and b) to stop everyone from reading the emails.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The action comes on the heels of a State Department decision on Feb. 18 requiring five Chinese news organizations considered organs of the government to register as foreign missions and provide the names of employees. China responded by expelling three Beijing-based Wall Street Journal reporters, condemning as “racist” an essay that ran on the paper’s opinion page criticizing China’s response to the coronavirus outbreak. Senior State Department officials said the decision to cap the number of Chinese nationals working for the designated “propaganda outlets” in the United States at 100 overall, down from 160, reflected growing concern of a crackdown on press freedoms for both Chinese and foreign journalists. “For years the government of the PRC has imposed increasingly harsh surveillance, harassment and intimidation against American and other foreign journalists in China,” said one official, speaking on the condition of anonymity under State Department rules and using the acronym for the People’s Republic of China. “President Trump has made clear that Beijing’s restrictions on foreign journalists are misguided. He’s also made clear that the U.S. will establish long overdue reciprocity in our relations with China.”)

— Who Is Really Voting? Why you shouldn’t trust exit polls—and why the 2020 electorate is much older than you think. – Phil Keisling
https://washingtonmonthly.com/2020/02/25/who-is-really-voting/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: It’s a familiar lament: the Democratic electorates in the nation’s first presidential contests are quite different from those elsewhere in America. Far less known and much less discussed: how wildly un-representative those voting so far in Iowa, New Hampshire, and Nevada, are when compared to those states’ typical Democratic electorates. The caucus system itself is the most visible culprit. Just 30 percent of Iowa’s 600,000 registered Democrats participated in the February 3 caucus. Meanwhile, Democratic turnout in Nevada was closer to 15 percent. Former Senator Harry Reid is right: both caucuses need to go. But the largely ignored, more insidious problem involves caucus “entrance” and election “exit” polls—or more precisely, the political journalists, pundits, and analysts who can’t separate their reliable data from that which is highly suspect, if not downright wrong.)

— Whistleblower Protection Laws for Federal Employee Whistleblowers (DIERSEN: Whistleblower Protection Laws did not protect me. While I was a federal employee for almost 30 years, I blew the whistle on political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation for opposing the aforesaid. To punish me, my Democrat GAO superiors forced me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, gave me unfair performance expectations and appraisals, always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, did not promote me beyond GS-13, got rid of my mentor in 1987, kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and forced me to take a $20,157 (21%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980. My Democrat IRS superiors did not promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, got rid of my mentor in 1975, and disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974. My Democrat Post Office superiors forced me resign in 1969 and disallowed my sick leave requests in 1969 and 1968.)
https://www.whistleblowers.org/whistleblower-protection-laws-for-federal-employee-whistleblowers/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Strong whistleblower protections already exist for federal employees. However, specific reforms to these laws are needed to make whistleblowing safer and more effective for federal employees. Understanding Federal Employee Whistleblower Protection Laws Passed in 1989, the Whistleblower Protection Act (WPA) is one of the primary statutes that outlines public employees’ right to speak out about misconduct, aimed at ensuring that all government employees can safely disclose “violations of laws, rules, or regulations, or mismanagement, gross waste of funds, abuse of authority and or a substantial and specific danger to public health and safety.” Additionally, Executive Order 12731, issued in 1990, requires all federal employees to “disclose waste, fraud, abuse, and corruption to authorities.” This Executive Order makes such disclosures mandatory in order to ensure standards of ethical conduct for all executive branch employees.)

I would focus on those who paint themselves as being religious, conservative, and/or Republican.)
https://thriveglobal.com/stories/3-types-of-workplace-discrimination-that-often-happen-in-plain-sight/

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Age Discrimination In today’s economy, it’s generally believed that we’re about as close to full employment as we’ve ever been before. That reality is pushing more traditionally underrepresented groups into the labor force, changing its composition in ways that we have never seen before. A prime example of this is the fact that people aged 65 and over are now the fastest-growing segment of the US labor pool. That, in turn, is driving a sharp increase in the number of incidents of age discrimination in the workplace. According to a recent survey, two in three US workers aged 45 or older report seeing or experiencing such discrimination at work, and that number seems to be rising. As long as unemployment remains low and more older Americans are forced to keep working due to financial insecurity as they approach retirement, age discrimination is likely to remain an issue for some time to come.)

DAILY HERALD
— Endorsement: Almiron for Republicans in primary for DuPage County recorder
https://www.dailyherald.com/news/20200228/endorsement-almiron-for-republicans-in-primary-for-dupage-county-recorder
(FROM THE ENDORSEMENT: It’s easy to understand why both candidates for the Republican nomination for DuPage County recorder consider the position a perfect fit for their credentials. Ron Almiron, an attorney from Wheaton, has a long and deep history of service in local projects, service agencies, school and community boards and even more recently treasurer and CFO for the Wheaton Mosquito Abatement District. Babette Holder Youngberg, a communications professional from Wheaton, boasts a long history in real estate and property management that is specifically relevant to the duties of this office. Both candidates speak knowledgeably and think creatively about a role that demands a disciplined combination of attention to detail and customer service. Choosing between them is no simple matter for voters. The distinction for us comes down to depth of community involvement and level of detail in the vision for the office. Almiron’s diverse range of community, school and government activities gives him a slightly more refined sense for operating a government office, and he approaches the role with compelling intensity. Whoever ultimately wins the election in November, there is a possibility he or she will not serve long. If voters approve a consolidation measure in the General Election, the elected recorder’s position will be eliminated and the duties folded into other county offices. Youngberg and Almiron argue that the public is best served by an elected recorder but both agree to work cooperatively toward a smooth transition if voters decide to eliminate the office. Republican voters can’t go wrong with either candidate in this primary. Our choice is Almiron.)
— Endorsement: Grogan for Republicans for DuPage County auditor
https://www.dailyherald.com/news/20200228/endorsement-grogan-for-republicans-for-dupage-county-auditor
(FROM THE ENDORSEMENT: In nearly 12 years as DuPage County auditor, Bob Grogan has produced an impressive reputation for transparency, efficiency and competence. With justifiable pride, the Downers Grove Republican points to various state firsts he has implemented — including the first county checkbook online, the first transparency portal and the first auditor hotline. He has served as the president of the Association of Illinois County Auditors and notes that he knows how “to ask the awkward questions” that an auditor must raise when working with county officials to fix errors, find wrongdoing or just make things work better. His challenger for the party’s nomination in the March 17 primary is retired bank officer Jeffrey Mack, of Downers Grove. Mack has an appropriate financial background for auditor and a reasonable familiarity with the duties of the office. His strongest argument, however, is that he could bring a “fresh set of eyes” to the operation. That’s not an irrelevant point, but Mack doesn’t build on it by demonstrating why a new perspective alone would justify replacing an auditor with Grogan’s record and credentials. Grogan is Republicans’ strongest alternative for the November ballot, and he gets our endorsement.)

— Before he became ‘Mayor Pete,’ Buttigieg worked as NBC 5 investigative intern (DIERSEN: Were you an intern? GAO audits IRS. When I transferred from IRS to GAO in 1980 when I was 31 years old, my Democrat GAO superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinated did not want me to transfer, but failing that, they wanted me to transfer as a GS-4 Step 1 (currently $34,610/year) intern, that is, to suffer a $61,821/year (64%) pay cut in today’s dollars. They painted what GAO Analysts do as being a unique “trade or occupation.” They would not have done that if I had been a Democrat, minority, female, or veteran. They viciously demonized, denigrated, and condemned the fact a) that I had worked for IRS for almost 9 years, the last 5 1/2 years of which at the GS-12 Step 1-5 levels, currently $85,084-$96,431/year, b) that much of what IRS Revenue Officers do is similar to what GAO Analysts do, c) that I had passed the CPA examination on my first attempt in 1979, d) that I had earned an MBA from Loyola in 1976, and e) that I had almost completed the requirements for a master’s degree in accounting from DePaul. They were furious that I transferred with me almost 12 years of federal seniority, 30 days of unused vacation days, and 130 unused sick days.)

— Too poor to go anywhere for spring break? You have options – C.J. Moore (DIERSEN: Since the spring of 1969, to demonize me, denigrate me, and condemn me as being a filthy rich draft dodger, my critics/opponents have stressed that I drove from NIU to Florida for spring break in 1969 and 1970 in my 1969 Dodge Charger SE. I could afford to do that because of my job working part-time for the Park Forest Post Office.)

— Congresswoman asks Democratic presidential candidates to address federal workforce – Lia Russell (DIERSEN: In what ways have you been a minority? All during the almost 30 years that I worked for the federal government, I was a minority because I was a Republican. In addition, often, I was a minority because I was a non-veteran, Protestant, German American, and my ancestors have been in America for a long time.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Ahead of Virginia’s March 3 primary for the 2020 presidential race, Rep. Jennifer Wexton (D-Va.) published an open letter urging the Democratic hopefuls to consider how they would work to restore faith in the civil service. Job satisfaction across the federal government has flagged continuously every year under the Trump administration, according to the Partnership for Public Service, which puts out a “Best Places in Government To Work” report every year. In 2019, the public sector’s employee engagement score dipped to 61.7 points out of 100, compared to 77 in the private sector. “From its inception, Donald Trump’s administration has set out to inflict harm on our public servants and the vital role our federal agencies play in serving the American people,” Wexton wrote in the letter. “This administration has launched attack after attack on the nonpartisan civil service — severely undercutting workers’ rights, deliberately leaving agencies understaffed and key positions unfilled, and using employees as bargaining chips in budget negotiations.”)
