January 3 Morning Edition

GOPUSA ILLINOIS
— How did you respond or how will you respond the Illinois Republican Party (IRP) survey questions (https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LBGPSVC)? Initial questions concerning this survey include: Who is exactly paying for this survey? When did you first learn that this survey was going to be conducted and who did you learn that from? Who developed the survey? What input did you, your Republican Precinct Committeeman/Captain, the officers of your Republican township/ward/county party organizations, your representative on the Illinois Republican Party (IRP) State Central Committee, the IRP officers, the IRP National Committeeman, and the IRP National Committeewoman have in the development of this survey? Where is the document that details the methodology used for this survey? What has been done to publicize this survey? Of course, anti-conservatives want liberals and moderates to respond to the survey and NOT conservatives. What about liberal and moderate responders who falsely claim to be conservative? I responded to the survey as follows:

1. How often do you work and/ or interact with the Illinois Republican Party? – Extremely Frequently (Daily)

  1. What role do you play in the Republican Party? – Precinct Committeemen

  1. How active would you consider yourself within your GOP organization? – Extremely active (Daily)

  1. Is there anything specific the Illinois Republican Party can help you and/ or your organization with? – Other (please specify) Promoting the IRP platform.

  1. What could the Illinois Republican Party do better to increase your activity and interest within your local regular Republican organization? – Promote the IRP platform.

  1. How active would you say your GOP organization(s) is/are? – They meet monthly and regularly are represented at community events.

  1. Please check the answer that best describes your political philosophy on fiscal policy matters: Conservative

  1. Please check the box that best describes your political philosophy on social policy matters: Conservative

  1. The most important public policy issues facing our state are: Pro-Life, Same-sex marriage (oppose), Second Amendment issues (oppose gun control), Other (please specify) Enforce immigration laws (support)

  1. The most important public policy issues facing our country are: Pro-Life, Illegal immigration (concerned about), Second Amendment issues (oppose gun control), Other (please specify) Traditional marriage (support)

  1. Who did you vote for in the 2018 Illinois gubernatorial Republican primary election? – Jeanne Ives / Rich Morthland

  1. What are the biggest challenges to unity in the Illinois Republican Party? – Stopping anti-conservative IRP leaders from driving conservatives out of the IRP

  1. With respect to the Illinois Republican Party platform, the Illinois Republican Party at its next quadrennial Convention in 2020 should: Adopt the platform of the national Republican Party as the platform of the Illinois Republican Party

  1. Why do Illinois Republicans lose elections? – Illinois Republican candidates are not conservative enough and do not energize enough of the Republican base. Illinois Democrat candidates typically have more campaign funds than Illinois Republican candidates. Districts are too gerrymandered for Illinois Republicans to be competitive in areas where they otherwise should be.

  1. What do you think are the most important things the Illinois Republican Party can do to promote unity? – Promote the IRP platform.

  1. If you were to define or message what it means to be a Republican to the voters of Illinois; what would that message be? – Promote traditional marriage and the traditional family. Promote the right to life. Enforce immigration laws. Promote Second Amendment rights.
  2. What is your first and last name? – David Diersen

  1. What is your email address? – diersen@aol.com

POLITICO ILLINOIS
— Outgoing Illinois state Sen. Kyle McCarter was (finally) confirmed Wednesday on voice vote to be U.S. ambassador to the Republic of Kenya, according to a tweet by the U.S. Senate Republican Cloakroom staff. McCarter was nominated March 28. Over his lifetime, McCarter has served as a missionary to Kenya. The Republican from Collinsville has held the 54th state Senate seat since 2009. He ran unsuccessfully for U.S. Congress in 2016. McCarter announced last year he wouldn’t seek re-election and was succeeded by Jason Plummer, also a Republican. State Rep. Dave McSweeney cheered his McCarter’s news on Twitter. “Senator Kyle McCarter is a great conservative leader in Illinois and will be a great Ambassador to Kenya!” – Shia Kapos

http://chicagoargus.blogspot.com/2019/01/freshman-senator-already-declares.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: To me, the explanation is that she’s from Naperville – which once was a part of the great DuPage County Republican organization that was among the strengths of the GOP nationwide. There once would have been a time when Stava-Murray would have been a Republican aspirant for political office – except that the Republicans have gone so far overboard to become the political party of rural America that I suspect if she had tried to run in the Republican primary last year, she’d have lost. They wouldn’t want her. She’s a Democrat by default! It may well be that Stava-Murray is showing off her political ignorance and doesn’t fully realize “which side” she’s on. For her sake, she’s going to have to figure things out and “pick a side,” or else it could turn into a bloody two years for her.)

During my last 8 years at GAO, I worked at the GS-13 Step 4-10 levels, currently $106,044-$125,325/year, on audits that involved major surveys. Two of the GAO reports that I worked on are at http://www.gao.gov/assets/160/154342.pdf (FINANCIAL DERIVATIVES: Actions Needed to Protect the Financial System) and at http://www.gao.gov/assets/160/156011.pdf (OTC DERIVATIVES: Additional Oversight Could Reduce Costly Sales Practice Disputes).)
https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/government-shutdown-poll_us_5c2d4892e4b0407e9087dc6e
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The HuffPost/YouGov poll consisted of 1,000 completed interviews conducted Dec. 28-30 among U.S. adults, using a sample selected from YouGov’s opt-in online panel to match the demographics and other characteristics of the adult U.S. population. HuffPost has teamed up with YouGov to conduct daily opinion polls. You can learn more about this project and take part in YouGov’s nationally representative opinion polling. More details on the polls’ methodology are available here (http://data.huffingtonpost.com/yougov/methodology). Most surveys report a margin of error that represents some, but not all, potential survey errors. YouGov’s reports include a model-based margin of error, which rests on a specific set of statistical assumptions about the selected sample rather than the standard methodology for random probability sampling. If these assumptions are wrong, the model-based margin of error may also be inaccurate. Click here for a more detailed explanation of the model-based margin of error. NEW YORK TIMES
— Censoring China’s Internet, for Stability and Profit Thousands of low-wage workers in “censorship factories” trawl the online world for forbidden content, where even a photo of an empty chair could cause big trouble. – Li Yan (DIERSEN: Of course, I know exactly what articles my critics/opponents do NOT want me to include links to in GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails. Of course, I know exactly what comments my critics/opponents do NOT want me to make on those articles. My critics/opponents a) reject planks in the Republican Party platform and/or the Illinois Republican Party platform and work against those like me who support those planks, b) reject the Milton Township Republican Central Committee resolution against video gambling and work against those like me who support that resolution, c) focus on destroying those like me who they cannot manipulate/dominate, d) were defendants in lawsuits that I have filed, and/or e) are operatives or dupes for the aforesaid.)
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/02/business/china-internet-censor.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Li Chengzhi had a lot to learn when he first got a job as a professional censor. Like many young people in China, the 24-year-old recent college graduate knew little about the 1989 Tiananmen Square crackdown. He had never heard of China’s most famous dissident, Liu Xiaobo, the Nobel Peace Prize laureate who died in custody two years ago. Now, after training, he knows what to look for — and what to block. He spends his hours scanning online content on behalf of Chinese media companies looking for anything that will provoke the government’s wrath. He knows how to spot code words that obliquely refer to Chinese leaders and scandals, or the memes that touch on subjects the Chinese government doesn’t want people to read about. Mr. Li, who still has traces of youthful acne on his face, takes his job seriously. “It helps cleanse the online environment,” he said. For Chinese companies, staying on the safe side of government censors is a matter of life and death. Adding to the burden, the authorities demand that companies censor themselves, spurring them to hire thousands of people to police content.)

MARKETING LAND
— Do brand politics impact consumer purchases? It’s complicated Multiple variables may affect how consumers react to brands that take a stand. – Greg Sterling (DIERSEN: Ever-increasingly, companies talk and act like they are operatives or dupes for the Democrat Party. Ever-increasingly, companies talk and act like they want to get rid of individuals, organizations, companies, governments, and countries that are Trump supporters, Protestant, conservative, patriotic, Republican, American, White, male, older, rich, gun owners, draft avoiders, German American, and those whose ancestors have been in America for a long time.)
https://marketingland.com/do-brand-politics-impact-consumer-purchases-its-complicated-252772
(FROM THE ARTICLE: A majority of consumers (63 percent), according to a new survey from SAP, say they prefer to purchase holiday gifts from brands that support specific social causes. This echoes earlier surveys that argue consumers increasingly want brands to take public social and political positions. The emerging consensus among marketers is that in the current climate brands are no longer able to “remain on the sidelines” and are compelled to stake out positions on controversial social issues. The most recent, high-profile example of this was Nike’s Just Do It anniversary campaign featuring Colin Kaepernick, which was controversial but actually helped Nike financially and with key audiences.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: A federal employee labor union is suing the US government for requiring “essential” employees to work without pay during the partial government shutdown. The American Federation of Government Employees alleged Monday that the government is violating the Fair Labor Standards Act by forcing employees deemed essential to work without pay. About a quarter of the government has been affected by the shutdown, including correctional officers, Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, and transportation security officers. Across different government agencies, about 380,000 federal employees will be furloughed and 420,000 will work without pay due to the shutdown continuing into the new year.)

Should I sue my critics/opponents? According to my critics/opponents, all news and commentary is “false” or “fake,” except for the news and commentary that they put out or bless.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: In Saudi Arabia, the same campaign against dissent that led to Mr. Khashoggi’s murder left 16 journalists imprisoned in December, according to the CPJ account, including four women who reported on women’s rights. Egypt had the dishonorable distinction of imprisoning the most people — 19 — on charges of disseminating “false” or “fake” news. The growing number of journalists jailed or attacked on that pretext is one illustration of the deleterious influence that President Trump has had on press freedom globally. His labeling of the U.S. media as the “enemy of the people” and charges of “fake news” have been imitated by regimes around the world. At the same time, his refusal to hold Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman responsible for Mr. Khashoggi’s murder, despite a CIA finding that he likely ordered it, has, as CPJ put it, “signaled that countries that do enough business with the United States are free to murder journalists without consequence.” It won’t be a surprise if 2019 produces another large body count.)

— Here’s how much the federal minimum wage fell this year – Christopher Ingraham (DIERSEN: When did you work the federal minimum wage? I did 1964-1966.)
https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2018/12/26/heres-how-much-federal-minimum-wage-fell-this-year/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: This is a problem for workers at the low end of the wage scale, because inflation — the tendency of the price of just about everything to rise over time — steadily gnaws away at the value of the minimum wage as time passes. The federal minimum was last increased in July 2009, when it was set to $7.25 an hour. It remains nominally at that level today, but in real terms inflation has chipped more than a dollar away from its value: $7.25 in 2009 works out to about $6.19 today. In the past year alone, the minimum wage has lost 14 cents of value, relative to 2009. While that’s bad news for low-end workers, it’s good news for the companies that employ them: an hour of minimum wage labor now costs less, relative to the price of everything else, than it did back in 2009. Employers get to decide what to do with that $1.06 in savings. They could pass it on to consumers, for instance, or they could simply pocket it as profit for themselves and their shareholders. Given that corporate profits are near record levels, it’s safe to assume there’s a considerable amount of the latter going on. Zooming out, all the way back to the inception of the federal minimum wage in 1938, we can see that there’s been a steady decline in the inflation-adjusted value of the wage going back to about 1968, when it peaked at about $11.39 in 2018 dollars.)

FREEDOM’S JOURNAL
— DISPARITIES GALORE – Walter E. Williams (DIERSEN: According to Democrats, all disparities are caused by Republicans, and especially by Republicans who are Trump supporters, Protestant, conservative, patriotic, White, male, older, rich, gun owners, draft avoiders, German American, and/or those whose ancestors have been in America for a long time.)
https://freedomsjournalinstitute.org/latest-news/opinion/disparities-galore/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Much is made about observed differences between sexes and among races. The nation’s academic and legal elite try to sell us on the notion that men and women and people of all races should be proportionally represented in socio-economic characteristics. They make statements such as “Though African Americans and Hispanics make up approximately 32 percent of the US population, they (constituted) 56 percent of all incarcerated people in 2015” and “20 percent of Congress is women. Only 5 percent of CEOs are.” These differences are frequently referred to as disparities. Legal professionals, judges, politicians, academics and others often operate under the assumption that we are all equal. Therefore, inequalities and disparities are seen as probative of injustice. Thus, government must intervene, find the cause and engineer a policy or law to eliminate the injustice. Such a vision borders on lunacy. There’s no evidence anywhere or at any time in human history that shows that but for some kind of social injustice, people would be proportionally represented across a range of socio-economic attributes by race and sex.)

Going forward, an individual can only claim up $10,000 for all state and local sales, income, and property taxes together. For example, a small house in New Jersey may pay just property taxes of $25,000. But with the $10,000 cap, taxpayers are going to be shelling out a lot more to the tax man.)

BUSINESS 2 COMMUNITY
— Is Your Content Hated or Anticipated? – Kelly MicKey (DIERSEN: If you asked my critics/opponents, their operatives, and/or their dupes about the content of GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails, what would they say?)
https://www.business2community.com/content-marketing/is-your-content-hated-or-anticipated-02150825
(FROM THE ARTICLE: I’m going to ask you an embarrassing question. Is your content, that stuff you’re putting out there for potential clients, is it hated or is it anticipated? Which is it? Well, here’s a few ways to find out. Let’s start with “who is it about?” If you find, look at your content, if you find it’s mostly about you, about your firm, about what you do, about who had joined the firm, about the services you offer, eh, there’s a likelihood it’s not going to be anticipated as much. You’re trying to sell something and if it’s not helping the client, it’s probably more likely on the hated side. The second question to ask is “what’s the value I’m adding?” What is the value of this content. Again, if it’s only about you and your services, the only value is they learn a little bit about what you offer. But I don’t think most people are going to see that as “boy, that’s a great value.” Think, instead, of what can you instruct the person on, how can you educate them about something, how can you make them a better consumer of services or more knowledgeable about what issues that might impact that. If you’re doing those kinds of things, it’s more likely to be anticipated. The third question, and the third place to look is, “is it missed?” Do people express appreciation to you? “Wow, I follow your content- it’s really helpful!” Do they open emails regularly? Do they express that kind of appreciation? If you miss a time or they miss something, they’re asking you about it.)
