I think the whole point is to create some type of controversy for the day. And this is old school. It comes out of the old playbook. We’ll deal with it,” Durkin said. Durkin said Republican House legislators typically attend a luncheon on Governor’s Day, with some taking on speaking roles. But he said he’ll be on the House floor. . .Rauner is expected to speak at a Governor’s Day breakfast, as well as attend State Fair events in the afternoon during a rally.)

http://www.chicagotribune.com/bluesky/originals/ct-james-damore-fired-googler-20170808-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: But unlike government employees, who have some free speech protections, private employees in the U.S. have little legal recourse if companies choose to retaliate for things they say at work or at home. In fact, most non-union private sector employees can be fired for almost any reason — or no reason at all. “Any claim that [Damore] brings will have only a negligible chance at success,” said law professor Paul Secunda, who directs the labor and employment law program at Marquette University. What’s more, firing Damore may have kept Google on the right side of the law, if the company or its employees felt that the memo had created a work environment that was hostile to women. Adam Galinsky, chair of management at Columbia Business School, said companies may have a legitimate reason for firing someone for expressing views that disrupt the professional environment. “I think that the firing was the appropriate response here,” Galinsky said. “I think if they didn’t fire the employee it would have created a lot of internal unrest among the women who work at Google.” In his defense, Damore could claim under the Civil Rights Act that he was fired for being male or for speaking out against anti-male discrimination, but Google could counter that it actually fired him for the attitudes he expressed about women, which aren’t protected. “He would have to show that if a woman had made similar comments about women’s superiority for jobs, that woman in a similar situation would not have been terminated,” , said Shannon Farmer, a partner at Ballard Spahr who represents employers. “That’s probably a hard thing to prove.” On Monday, Google CEO Sundar Pichai sent a note to employees that said portions of Damore’s memo “violate our Code of Conduct and cross the line by advancing harmful gender stereotypes in our workplace.” He didn’t say if the company was taking action against the employee. A Google representative, asked about the dismissal, referred to Pichai’s memo.)

From working for the federal government for almost 30 years, I learned that the Democrats who run the federal government will waste your career and get rid of you if you are not a Democrat, and especially if you are a Republican, White, male, older, and/or non-veteran. Because I have always been a Republican, were it not for federal civil service protections, a) the Post Office would NOT have hired me in 1966 or let me work there for almost 3 years, b) IRS would NOT have hired me in 1971 or let me work there for almost 9 years, c) IRS would NOT have promoted me in 1972, 1973, or 1974, d) GAO would NOT have hired me in 1980 or let me work there for almost 18 years, and e) GAO would NOT have promoted me in 1986. Further, non-veteran White males who are seeking a job with the federal government should be advised that with only rare exceptions, a) the longer that you are a federal employee, the less likely that private sector employers will hire you, b) your career will be wasted and you will be gotten rid of if you do not make GS-13 ($94,610) by age 25, GS-14 ($111,801) by age 30, GS-15 ($131,508) by age 35, and Senior Executive Service ($161,900) by age 40, c) you will be expected to help your superiors and supervisors get rid of their employees who are Republican, White, male, older, and/or non-veteran, and d) virtually everyone despises if not hates federal employees, former federal employees, and federal retirees.)

ILLINOIS FAMILY INSTITUTE
— Chicago Trib Demagogue Who “Identifies” as Reporter, Goes After State Rep. Ives – Laurie Higgins  (DIERSEN: Ever-increasingly, the Chicago Tribune promotes gender confusion and LGBTQ activity.)
https://illinoisfamily.org/education/chicago-trib-demagogue-identifies-reporter-goes-state-rep-ives/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: I thought my view of the Chicago Tribune couldn’t get lower and then I read a piece by Mr. Kim Janssen on State Representative Jeanne Ives (R-Wheaton), one of the most courageous, ethical lawmakers in Springfield. Last week, Rep. Ives posted a link to my article titled “Christians Must Exit Government Schools” on her Facebook page. Subsequently, Janssen wrote an article titled “Lawmaker compares teachers who support transgender rights to ‘dirty old men,” ostensibly about Rep. Ives, which was published online Friday night. As I predicted, the Trib waited to publish it in their Sunday print edition rather than publishing it in the slim and little-read Saturday edition. It seems that the Trib powers-that-be want to use my politically incorrect writing to do as much political damage to Rep. Ives as possible. Clarification for the Trib: Lawmaker Ives did not compare teachers who support alleged “transgender rights” to dirty old men. I compared teachers who expose children to obscene material to dirty old men. Further clarification: Gender-dysphoric persons have no ethical or moral “right” to use opposite sex restrooms and locker rooms. In an email to Rep. Ives after his article was published, Janssen doubled-down on the absurd claim that objectively male and objectively female persons have a “right” to access opposite-sex private spaces, accusing Rep. Ives of having a “history of opposition to transgender rights.” Janssen’s assertion reveals his ideological bias. “Trans”-identifying persons have no more ethical “right” to use opposite-sex facilities than do I or Mr. Janssen. The current manifestation of the sexual revolution is not a fight for equal rights or a fight to gain rights that have been denied to some group. Artificially feminized men and artificially virilized women are declaring that they deserve special, a-historical privileges. They have decided that while all other humans must use private spaces that correspond to their objective, immutable biological sex, they—that is, “trans”-identifying persons—may use private spaces that do not correspond to their objective, immutable biological sex. They are demanding to be treated differently from most humans. Perhaps a better way to define what gender-pretenders are doing is to say they have arrogated the unilateral authority to declare that all spaces in which humans undress or engage in bodily functions will no longer correspond to objective, immutable sex but, rather, will correspond to subjective, internal feelings about one’s sex. “Trans”-identifying persons, however, have no authority or right to decide that feelings trump objective sex when it comes to accessing private spaces. In his “news” article about Rep. Ives—really an article about my article—Janssen cites the ethically impoverished Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), which labels IFI a “hate group” based on our views of volitional homoerotic activity, marriage, and the “trans” ideology, views with which the SPLC disagrees. The only way IFI, which holds orthodox theological views, can be deemed a “hate group” is by redefining hatred.)

FEDERAL NEWS RADIO
— Draining the swamp: Now what? – Mike Causey  (DIERSEN: Just kidding, but Trump should nominate me to head OPM.  My bachelor’s degree from NIU in personnel management.  Personnel management was my area of concentration for my MBA.  I have almost 30 years experience working for the federal government, almost 3 years experience working for the Post Office, almost 9 years experience working for IRS, the last 5 1/2 years of which as a GS-12 Step 1-5, currently $79,563-$90,173, almost 18 years working for GAO, the last 11 years of which at the GS-13 Step 1-10, currently $94,610-$122,991. Since 1989, GAO has used Nesterczuk’s “banding” to get rid of its employees who were Republican, White, male, older, and/or non-veteran.)
https://federalnewsradio.com/federal-report/2017/08/draining-the-swamp-now-what/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The surprise decision of George Nesterczuk to withdraw as a candidate to head the Office of Personnel Management cheered federal unions and some, maybe many, feds who remember the Reagan years as a nervous time to be a fed. But his withdrawal from consideration can also be viewed as a blow to the administration’s promise/threat to shake, rattle and roll the federal bureaucracy, making it skinnier and more responsive. And less fireproof. Or not. It is equally possible that the next OPM director, when nominated and confirmed, could come in with an even tougher agenda, but with less knowledge of how the civil service systems function. Nesterczuk’s departure — five months after he was nominated — is also an example of the problems many agencies are facing because so many key political jobs are either vacant or held by appointees from the Obama administration. The rudderless OPM has been without a confirmed director since 2015. Although the agency is little known outside of government and outside of Washington, it plays a critical role in the work lives of civil servants and retirees. Nesterczuk’s first federal job was as an astrophysicist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center. After leaving government, he was active in Republican politics in Maryland and ran Ronald Reagan’s campaign in the state. He was later appointed as associate director for executive personnel at OPM under its controversial director Donald Devine. During the Reagan years, many federal workers — and especially federal and postal unions — felt unloved, at best, and under attack at worst. Nesterczuk drew additional union fire for helping set up a Bush administration initiative called the National Security Personnel System. It was a Defense Department program the administration hoped to expand to other agencies. Under it, managers would have the ability to set employee pay within bands (rather than the traditional 15 grades) based on their performance. Unions balked at it, and complained that they had little input. As a result, the 200,000 workers put under the NSPS were all from outside union bargaining units. Pay raises for many exceeded the regular annual federal pay raises. This being Washington, each side had a conspiracy theory with each claiming both success and the moral high ground. The Bush administration said it was proof that when motivated and given more opportunities, workers rose to the challenge. Unions said the same thing, in reverse. They claimed that political appointees at the Pentagon gave NSPS workers bigger raises to prove that the new system worked, And possibly stick it to unions too. In any case, the Democratic Congress unraveled it and the 200,000 feds who had been under the NSPS were blended back into their previous grades, but often at higher pay. For critics of the Reagan administration’s approach to the federal workforce, Nesterczuk is credited/blamed for working under and closely with Devine during what some people refer to as the “Devine Years.” One former congressional staffer-turned lobbyist who followed the federal-postal beat said: “Remembering that the demise of the CSRS retirement plan occurred as a result of the bipartisan agreement between Democrat Tip O’Neill and Republican Ronald Reagan to bail out Social Security by forcing new federal employees into that program, Mr. Nesterczuk’s previous tenure at OPM was marked by no significant lasting cuts in employee benefits, the congressional establishment of the successful Federal Employees Retirement System (over the objections of Nesterczuk and his old boss [Devine] who wanted only a “super IRA” for feds), and the start of significant membership growth by at least two civil service unions that have sustained their efforts to this very day. The unions may cheer Nesterczuk’s withdrawal, but it is useful to remember that his past record is one of ineffectiveness. Now President Trump has a chance to nominate someone who can really do some damage.”)

Think of it as a new tool; it has the benefit of providing perspectives that most linear thinkers would normally not consider. RA is not new or even unique as a general concept. It is likely many have used it without giving it much thought, let alone a name. In our everyday lives, we have problems occur that require we take an opposite and sometimes uncomfortable point of view to resolve. That is the essence of RA.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Loyola University Chicago was Blanca Rodriguez’s dream school. The Jesuit institution’s $21,000 tuition was out of the question for her family, but Rodriguez soon will be a Loyola graduate anyway thanks to a program for low-income students designed to get them halfway to a bachelor’s degree with little or no debt. Established in 2015, Arrupe offers three types of associate degrees, mostly fulfilling general education requirements that will enable students to segue into bachelor’s programs at other schools. Arrupe’s students are among the city’s most vulnerable — and not just because they often cannot afford tuition. Many students or their parents are living in the U.S. illegally and face a threat of deportation. Some experience homelessness or food insecurity. Others are young parents. Many live in crime-plagued neighborhoods, have lost close relatives to gun violence and avoid taking late-day classes because they are scared to use public transportation at night.)
— DIERSEN HEADLINE: QUESTION: Which individuals, organizations, companies, governments, and countries promote Maxine Waters?  ANSWER: Those that are anti-Trump, anti-Protestant, anti-conservative, anti-Republican, anti-American, anti-White, anti-male, anti-older people, anti-rich people, anti-gun owners, anti-German Americans, anti-draft avoiders (except Bill Clinton), and/or anti-those whose ancestors have been in America longer than their ancestors.

— Why some employers are becoming more generous with retirement savings plans – Gail MarksJarvis  (DIERSEN: From the beginning of time, government employees and government retirees have been viciously demonized, viciously denigrated, and viciously condemned. Because of that, to hire and to retain employees, governments have had to pay higher salaries and offer better retirement and other benefits. Many millions have not and will not seek a job with the federal government a) because the pay and benefits are terrible, b) because the advancement opportunities are terrible, c) because they lack required education, work experience, professional certifications, and/or professional licenses, d) because they cannot pass an employment examination, e) because they cannot pass a background investigation, f) because they cannot pass a physical examination, g) because they cannot take the demonization, denigration, and condemnation that comes with being a federal employee or federal retiree, and/or h) because they are Republican, White, male, older, and/or non-veteran and they know that the federal government discriminates against the aforesaid.)
http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/columnists/ct-companies-give-employees-more-401k-money-marksjarvis-column-0807-biz-20170803-column.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: In an effort to recruit employees in competitive fields and help motivate older workers to leave the workplace when they hit retirement age, companies are becoming more generous with their retirement savings plans. After pulling back on the extras during the recession, companies are devoting more to 401(k) matches, the free money they give employees who participate in company retirement savings plans.)

— Rauner Names New Lead for DC Team – Mary Ann Ahern  (DIERSEN: If you taught a course, how would your critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes anonymously rate you?  What do you base your knowledge of the federal government on?  I worked for the federal government for almost 30 years. While I worked for GAO for almost 18 years, the last 11 years of which at the GS-13 Step 1-10 levels, currently, $94,610-$122,991, I worked on audits of federal financial industry regulators for almost 9 years, audits of many other federal agencies for almost 6 years, and audits of IRS for 3 years. I worked for IRS for almost 9 years, the last 5 1/2 years of which at the GS-12 Step 1-5 levels, currently, $79,563-$90,173.  The aforesaid experience helped me become a Certified Government Financial Manager.)
http://www.nbcchicago.com/blogs/ward-room/Rauner-Names-New-Lead-for-DC-Team-438623933.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Gov. Bruce Rauner announced Friday he’s chosen Sam Pfister to lead his Washington DC team. Pfister replaces Kathy Lydon, who had served Illinois in DC for years dating back to Sen. Charles Percy. Lydon quit three weeks ago as the governor overhauled his staff and more than two dozen of his inner circle were either fired or quit in protest. Pfister will be paid $75,000. Pfister’ most event job is four years as the associate director of state outreach for the Mercatus Center at George Mason University. The think tank was founded by Richard Fink, who heads the Koch Industries lobbying group in Washington, DC. Charles Koch is also a board member of the Center. The Wall Street Journal has called the Mercatus Center “the most important think tank you’ve never head of.” The Koch brothers have given more than 100 million to conservative and libertarian policy and advocacy groups. Rauner has also hired a deputy director of communications Beth Tomev. She started earlier this week, but no announcement was made. She will be paid $117,000. Tomev has been a public affairs consultant, worked at Fox News Chicago, as Walter Jacobson’s producer, and taught communications and journalism classes at Columbia College and Loyola University. “I did not know what I was getting into when I took Tomev’s class,” according to a review of Tomev on Rate My Professor. “Her lectures are nonsensical, she takes up class time with irrelevant stories, grades unreasonably tough without providing clear expectations for assignments, and has purposely ambiguous exam questions that can tank your grade. All for an intro course. Would not recommend to anyone.”)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Illinois conservatives are plentiful, but they’re just not well-organized, and the Leftist media so rarely includes conservative perspectives that many are misled to believe conservatives are extinct in the Land of Lincoln. But conservatives are really not that rare in Illinois, they just need to know who each other are and meet up to encourage one another, says Carol Davis – the co-founder of West Suburban Patriots. That’s why she and Janet Shaw started the ball rolling on a long overdue gathering of Illinois conservatives. The event, “Strategy 2017: From Outrage to Action,” will be held August 18 and 19th at the Diplomat West Banquet Hall in Elmhurst, IL. The forum starts Friday afternoon with American Majority doing Candidate/Campaign Team Training. The afternoon sessions will be social media training and a session entitled “Lightning Round: SOLUTIONS” will feature short, fast-paced presentations from organizations with REAL solutions conservatives to learn and support. Dinner will be sponsored by FreedomWorks, with keynote speaker C.L. Bryant. He is a reverend and a black conservative activist with the TEA Party since the beginning.)

CAPITOL FAX
— RICH MILLER: Sen. Chris Nybo (R-Elmhurst) told me earlier that the Sun-Times story above doesn’t make any sense, so I asked him to send me a quick statement… “It stuns me that people would say Ms. Rasmussen is attempting to ‘indoctrinate’ Republican legislators. Just the opposite. In my meetings with her, I feel she does more listening than talking, and her focus has mostly been on operational (not ideological) issues. In fact, I’ve rarely been so impressed in such a short timeframe with what has been said and how it has been said. She’s a clear, concise, and capable communicator.”

https://www.stripes.com/news/va-whistleblower-gets-job-in-trump-s-new-accountability-office-1.481509#.WYS7DhFSRZI
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Two years ago, Brandon Coleman was placed on paid leave from his job with the Department of Veterans Affairs as an addiction therapist after he reported poor care for mental-health patients at the Phoenix VA hospital — the epicenter of the agency’s wait-time scandal. After reporting his concerns, managers opened internal investigations into Coleman and accused him of misconduct, he said. Coleman claimed it was retaliation and he spent 18 months on leave while settling the dispute with the VA. Now, Coleman, 42, is about to take a new position with the VA in which he can influence how whistleblowers are treated within the agency. He’s been assigned to VA headquarters to work on behalf of whistleblowers who still face deterrents to speak out, like he did. Coleman reports to Washington, D.C. in mid-August, where he’ll be part of the new VA Office of Accountability and Whistleblower Protection, which is led by Navy and Air Force veteran Peter O’Rourke. The office was established with the intention of making VA officials more aggressive in finding and removing bad workers and protecting the whistleblowers who help them do it.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Leslie Heffez’s current annual pension is $581,227. Leslie paid in $768,611, and can expect to get out $21,945,104 in lifetime benefits based upon life expectancy averages. Das Gupta’s current annual pension is $494,773. It took only one year for Das to recoup everything he paid into the system, which was $475,331. He could receive $5,290,301 before the grim reaper comes calling. Herand Acarian gets $392,682 every year. Not bad for having paid in only $628,987, and with a good long life, Herand could get back $6,843,239 or more. Eddie Williams wins the $200k column, bringing in six times the annual average Illinois household income (which is approximately $50k) at $299,991. Eddie coughed up a whole $277,792 to invest into the system, and has already received $842,452 in benefits.  (Please read those numbers again.) If he stays healthy, he could cash in for as much as $5,527,649 over his lifetime. After flipping through over four full pages of pensions exceeding $200,000, Rick Taylor tops off the $100-k’ers at an annual pension of $199,909. For the record, Ricky paid in $229,400, has already received $1,162,854 (he retired at age 56), and life expectancy charts could gift him $7,267,441 or more if he eats right and gets enough exercise.)

Much of what IRS Revenue Officers do is similar to what GAO Analysts do including interviewing, data gathering, data summary, data analysis, developing recommendations, and report writing.  In 1980, my Democrat GAO superiors showed their complete and utter disdain for what I had a) learned by working for IRS’s Collection Division for almost 9 years 1971-1980, the last 5 1/2 years of which at the GS-12 Step 1-5 levels, currently $79,563-$90,173, b) learned by passing the CPA examination on my first attempt in 1979, c) learned by earning a masters degree in accounting from DePaul in 1980, d) learned by earning an MBA from Loyola in 1976, and e) learned by earning a bachelor’s degree from NIU in 1970 a) by forcing me to take an $18,847 (21%) pay cut to transfer, that is, a downgrade from GS-12 Step 5, currently $90,173, to GS-9 Step 10, currently $71,326, b) by keeping me off audits of IRS 1980-1995, c) by forcing the GAO manager who had hired me, gotten me assigned to audits of IRS in 1996, and gotten me promoted to GS-13, currently $94,610, in 1986, and d) by keeping me off audits of IRS 1989 until they succeeded in forcing me to take their early retirement “offer” in 1997.)
