For me, it is the candidate’s failure/refusal to defend/advance a) the traditional family, right to life, immigration, Second Amendment, and the rest of the planks in the Illinois Republican Party (IRP) platform and/or b) the illegal drugs, equal opportunity (no race or gender based preference giving), and the rest of the planks in the Republican Party platform. For me, it is the candidate’s failure/refusal to oppose the promotion of dependency on government, dependency on charity, LGBTQ activity, abortion, mass/illegal immigration, diminishment of Second Amendment rights, booze, gambling, pot, and other vices, patronage, political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation. In Illinois, the more actions that “Republican” activists, candidates, elected officials, party leaders, major donors, political consultants, etc. take against the IRP platform, the more that they shout that they are really Democrats, Libertarians, Greens, or RINOs. To get votes from Democrats, from Libertarians, and from Greens, “Republican” candidates who run as RINOs, that is, who run as anti-Republicans, want Republicans to oppose them. Which candidates on the November 6, 2018 ballot in your precinct are you going to help elect? Which of those candidates really do not want you to help elect them? If we get something wrong we correct it, though I’m proud to say we’ve published nothing with a material error I know of in the five years we’ve been around, despite the complexity of what we cover. As for us being political, all of us at Wirepoints forego any campaign activity and political support, but if being fiscal realists is political, so be it. We wear that on our sleeves. Rauner campaigned as a social moderate, and has said he has no social agenda. But he’s been forced to address several key issues during his first-term — signing a controversial measure that expanded taxpayer-funding of abortion and worked to protect abortions in Illinois should the Supreme Court overturn Roe. v. Wade. He also signed a measure that allowed transgender people to change the sex listed on their birth certificates. Those were among some of the issues that led state Rep. Jeanne Ives, R-Wheaton, to run against Rauner in the March primary, with the governor winning by just 3 points. Many conservative Republicans called the signing of the abortion bill a betrayal. But Rauner denied the claim that earned him the nickname of “Benedict Rauner” and the label of RINO — Republican in name only. Illinois Review, a news source for conservatives, first reported on Rauner at the wedding and the potential conservative backlash. The governor’s office declined comment on the wedding. Less than four years ago, Equality Illinois accused Rauner of ducking social issues that turned some voters off. Just months before the 2014 election, Rauner sent former Illinois GOP Party Chairman Pat Brady to the Pride Parade in Chicago in his place. Gay rights activists supported Democrat Pat Quinn in the race. They campaigned against Rauner, hanging a banner along the parade route, bearing Rauner’s face and his quote on marriage quality: “If I were governor, I would veto it.” Brady stepped down from his post after angering social conservatives when he took a stand in favor of same sex marriage. During the campaign Rauner declined to say whether he supported it. And while he said he had no plans to overturn the same-sex law, he also said if it had landed on his desk as governor he would have vetoed it because voters should have decided the issue. They stressed that I was a draft-avoiding non-veteran conservative Republican who opposed patronage, political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation. They stressed that I was 100% German national origin, a Missouri Synod Lutheran, and someone whose ancestors had been in America since the 1840s. They hinted/implied/argued that IRS should NOT have a) hired me in 1971, b) promoted me in 1972, 1973, or 1974, or c) let me work there for almost 9 years. They hinted/implied/argued that the Post Office should NOT have a) hired me in 1966 or b) let me work there for almost 3 years. They were disgusted, outraged, and beyond furious that I transferred in with almost 12 years of federal seniority, 30 unused vacation days, and more than 100 unused sick days. They hinted/implied/argued/shouted that legislative branch employees were far superior to executive branch employees. They stressed that I had been a union member while I worked for the Post Office and for IRS and that I had filed grievances. They dismissed, belittled, badmouthed, demonized, denigrated, and condemned what I had learn by a) passing the CPA examination on my first attempt in 1979, b) almost completing the requirements for a master’s degree in accounting from DePaul, c) earning an MBA from Loyola in 1976, and d) earning a bachelor’s degree in management from NIU in 1970. They painted me and my wife as being undeservedly filthy rich DINKs (dual income, no kids). They stressed that we owned 1017 East Harrison in Wheaton, owned and rented out 774-5 Sunset Court in University Park, and owned a 1972 Corvette, a 1978 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale, and a 1978 Chevy Chevette. They stressed my wife’s salary and her frequent business trips to luxury resorts that could and did accompany her on. They hinted/implied/argued/shouted that my parents were undeservedly filthy rich because they sent me to Trinity Lutheran Grade School in Crete 1953-1961 and then to Hope Lutheran Grade School in Park Forest 1961-1962 to stay with the Missouri Synod. They stressed that I had lived in Crete 1948-1972 and in Wheaton since 1978 and hinted/implied/argued/shouted that Crete and Wheaton were full of people who were White supremacists, Nazis, KKK members, haters, racists, sexists, bigots, and even worse things. They talked and acted like they had read and memorized every word in Money Magazine’s nasty February 1978 4-page article on me.)

They have resisted President Trump’s border enforcement, and many others are now calling for the abolishment of ICE (Immigration Custom Enforcement). One only has to look at crime statistics committed by illegals to see a glimpse of what a borderless United States holds for us. The Daily Wire reported that 92 percent of confirmed aliens in Federal Bureau of Prisons custody are illegals and that 97 percent of confirmed aliens in the U.S. Marshal Service custody are illegals. Furthermore, 21 percent of those convicted of non-immigration crimes were non-citizens and 2.5 times their share of the population. The Government Accountability Office reported in 2011 that there were 251,000 criminal aliens in federal, state, and local prisons. Those aliens represented nearly three million criminal offenses, which ranged from homicide and kidnappings to drugs, burglary, and larceny. These criminal offenses would not have occurred here had these criminals been prevented from gaining a foothold into our home and thousands of lives would not have been lost.)
