DAILY HERALD
— DuPage County may seek referendum to dissolve election commission – Robert Sanchez
http://www.dailyherald.com/news/20170605/dupage-county-may-seek-referendum-to-dissolve-election-commission
(FROM THE ARTICLE: County officials have been told the election commission could be dissolved with a binding referendum. But the county can’t form a bipartisan election commission board without a state law change. One of the obstacles facing the proposed state law is that Democratic leaders in DuPage have criticized it. For example, they didn’t like the proposed process to appoint election commissioners. They’ve also voiced concern about the suggested salaries of the commissioners. Cronin, meanwhile, said he wants a consolidation of the election commission and the clerk’s office because it’s expected to save taxpayers at least $300,000 a year. The savings would be achieved by combining staff and finding efficiencies. “My priority is — and always has been — savings for the taxpayers,” Cronin said. “If we can do the same quality service more efficiently and save taxpayers money, that’s the direction we should take.” Before taking any steps to dissolve the election commission, Cronin said he first would have a “robust discussion” with county board members.)

More is expected of non-veteran White males a) because they were born with silver spoons in their mouths, b) because they have always been privileged, and c) because they benefited from their parents’, their grandparents’, their great grandparents’, and the rest of their ancestors’ racism and sexism. Non-veteran Whites males are expected to pay the price of Affirmative Action, Diversity, and Inclusion.)

INSTITUTE OF INTERNAL AUDITORS
— Under Siege Public sector auditors can face intimidation, isolation, retaliation, suspension — even termination — just for doing their job. – Russell A. Jackson  (DIERSEN: I have always been a Republican. I worked for GAO for almost 18 years 1980-1997.  Overwhelmingly, all during that time, my superiors, my supervisors, my coworkers, and my subordinates were Democrats.)
https://iaonline.theiia.org/2017/Pages/Under-Siege.aspx
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The sad reality is that public sector auditors can face retaliation – isolation, smear campaigns, diminution of duties, even suspension and termination – just for doing their jobs. If the fruits of the audit function’s labors conflict with an agency head’s political agenda, too often the political agenda wins and the auditor loses. The threat is so real, and the stakes so high, that many practitioners embroiled in sticky political situations have to inform their colleagues anonymously – or with the approval of a lawyer. That’s why Patton’s tale is attributed directly to him; all his comments have been approved by counsel so they don’t impact the ongoing litigation. Solutions are few, but they do exist. If other practitioners know what to watch for and how to prepare for the worst, some may avoid the untenable situations their colleagues deal with. As an internal auditor under fire at a mid-level school district says, “Exposure of these issues may help someone else.” Ultimately, of course, some public sector auditors caught up in politics will simply have to fall on their swords. At the end of the day, the public servant trying to suppress the truth likely won an election or received an appointment from someone in office, so the auditor trying to tell the truth may be pressured to get on board or get out. But in many cases, targeted relationship-building and a firm grasp of the agency’s governance structure will go a long way toward avoiding catastrophe. The political motivation to punish an auditor often involves information that’s incriminating to the person who ordered the audit in the first place – sometimes under a law or regulation. In one case, an audit investigation found evidence that a school board CEO had been less than honest about his credentials; in another, a culture audit – which, in law enforcement is often going to be politically sensitive – contained pretty damning results; and another uncovered fraud in a university’s program accepting bodies of people willed to science. Often, it’s a more mundane reason, like auditors looking into contracts or programs that executive directors don’t want exposed or, as in Patton’s case, assisting outside agencies in their investigations. Sometimes it’s as simple as an executive director who insists that the audit function in general has a “gotcha” mentality. In fact, one anonymous practitioner facing retaliation at a local school district says she has come to believe that “any audit that falls under the chief operating officer or chief financial officer’s (CFO’s) jurisdiction or any audit that makes a board look like it isn’t providing governance and oversight will be political.” The means of punishing auditors vary as well, within fairly defined limits.)

FED SMITH
— How Do Federal Employees Rate President Trump? – Ralph R. Smith  (DIERSEN: If I was still working for GAO, my Democrat superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates would have killed me figuratively, if not literally by now.  Members of the following groups have always blamed me for all problems : anti-Trump, anti-Protestant, anti-conservative, anti-Republican, anti-American, anti-White, anti-male, anti-older people, anti-rich people, anti-gun owners, anti-German Americans, anti-draft avoiders (except Bill Clinton), and/or anti-those whose ancestors have been in America longer than their ancestors.)
https://www.fedsmith.com/2017/06/05/federal-employees-rate-president-trump/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: According to this survey, 67.8% of those responding are current federal employees and 28.5% are retired federal employees. There were small percentages of those who were military or retired military, contractors, union staffers or no federal affiliation. The most common rating for the President’s performance was “Unsatisfactory.” 53.07% of those responding selected this option. A total of about 62% selected unsatisfactory of “Below Expectations.” 13.58% selected “Outstanding.” 38.3% selected categories from “Outstanding” to “Meets Expectations.” . . . Among Republicans, 73.4% rate President Trump at “Meets Expectations” or higher. 85.5% of Democrats gave the president an “unsatisfactory” rating. . .About 37% of respondents indicated they agreed with the priorities of the Trump administration. That is close to the same percentage that have a favorable opinion of the President’s performance so far. 58.5% indicated they disagreed with the priorities of the administration. . .Among Democrats, 85.5% of those taking the survey disagree with the priorities of the administration. Among Republicans, 73.8% agree with the administration’s priorities. And, among Independents, 34.3% agree and 61.4% disagree. . .44.5% of those responding to the survey identified themselves as Independent voters. Republicans were 24.2% of respondents and Democrats 23.5%. The remaining selected the “other” option. . .46.6% of those responding to this survey indicated they voted for Hillary Clinton in the presidential election. 38% indicated they voted for Donald Trump—roughly as the overall percentage of people who indicated they voted for him in the presidential election and the percentage that provides “meets expectations” or higher in this survey. Among Republicans, 78.4% voted for Donald Trump in the election. 10.8% voted for Hillary Clinton and 10.7 voted for another candidate. 89% of those who identified as Democrats voted for Hillary Clinton; 5.7% voted for Donald Trump; and 5.2% voted for another candidate. . .25% of those responding indicated they were more optimistic and more favorable about their federal career. 57% were less optimistic and 17.9% are still undecided.)

— Poking the retiree beehive – Mike Causey  (DIERSEN: I am one of the 70,215 federal retirees in Illinois. Needless-to-say, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes would be overjoyed if Trump would cut if not end my Civil Service Retirement System pension, my Social Security, and/or my COLAs.)
https://federalnewsradio.com/mike-causey-federal-report/2017/06/poking-the-retiree-beehive/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Currently there are 2,625, 261 federal retirees or their survivors.  Right now, as you read this, another 300,000 active duty federal workers are eligible to retire and will, sooner or later, do so.  That’s a lot of people. Go into any McDonald’s, from Scottsville, Ky., to Pismo Beach, Calif., at any time of the day and you will likely see a former fed, or six, chowing down and talking.  The same for your local grocery store whether it is in Washington, D.C., to Washington Court House, Pa.  Or on Guam or American Samoa.  Former feds, and their wallets, purses or credit cards, are just about everywhere. Years ago a very sophisticated federal retiree — my mother — who lived near Fort Myers, Fla., explained that lots of people continue to eat out after retirement “we just do it earlier.”  So we may not see them, but they are definitely there.  According to data from the Office of Personnel Management just over 17 percent of all federal retirees have monthly annuities of $4,000 or more.  Another 22 percent get between $3,000 and $2,999 while 14 percent get $1,000 to $1,999.  Fewer than 9 percent get $1,000 or less per month from their civil service retirement benefit.   Most of the current retirees are under the older CSRS system which fully indexes their annuities to inflation regardless of age.   Workers retiring under the FERS system get cost of living adjustments (starting at age 62) that are partially indexed to inflation.  At least since the Reagan administration. But life-after-retirement (for current feds too) could change drastically if Congress goes along with the Trump administration plan to charge current workers 6 percent more for their retirement benefits, to reduce COLAs for CSRS retirees by giving them 0.5 percent less than the actual increase in inflation each year, by eliminating COLAs completely for FERS retirees (9 out of every 10 current workers is under FERS and would become part of the Zero Diet COLA group), and to eliminate an annual “gap” payment that now goes to FERS retirees until they reach age 62 and become eligible for Social Security. Although they too retire under an enhanced version of the civil service retirement program, many politicians at the House, Senate and now White House level view federal workers either as clowns, drones or creatures from the swamp.  They lap up studies — usually from conservative think tanks —showing federal workers are overpaid and ignore those that show feds, particularly at higher grade and skill levels, are dramatically underpaid compared to their private sector counterparts in Washington, Houston, San Francisco and New York City. Reducing the buying power of federal workers (by making them pay more for their pensions) and retirees, by reducing or eliminating COLAs in the future, could hurt many communities that depend on the federal pay or pension dollar to stay afloat.  So how big a deal is the federal-postal retiree dollar.  Check out this chart from the OPM.  It shows the number of retirees (and their survivor annuitants in each state, and the value of their annuity payments.  The chart does not include the value of Thrift Savings Plan accounts the retirees have or any Social Security payments they received for covered work before or after they were in government:)

WASHINGTON POST
— Trump’s budget calls for hits on federal employee retirement programs – Joe Davidson  (DIERSEN: COLAs are far less than inflation, especially for retirees.  I should write a book a) about all the reasons why my $50,856 Civil Service is not higher than it is and b) about my Democrat Post Office, IRS, and GAO superiors who took the lead in wasting my federal career and forcing me to take their early retirement “offer” in 1997 when I was 49 years old.  Of course, they would all say that they simply did what Democrat politicians wanted them to do.)
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpost/wp/2017/05/18/trumps-budget-calls-for-hits-on-federal-employee-retirement-programs/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: But in real terms, the civilian increase would be less than it looks if proposed hits on retirement benefits are adopted. Trump’s fiscal 2018 budget would: . . . Cut the COLA for Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) employees by 0.5 percent from what the formula would allowed . . . The thought of Trump’s assault on federal retirement programs becoming law enrages federal employee leaders.  National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association President Richard Thissen called Trump’s plan “beyond insulting. It is downright mean. Simultaneously promoting tax cuts and forcing a tax on just federal employees, through in an increase in retirement contributions, is the height of hypocrisy.”)

He is a former state attorney general, but those jobs are much more political than their federal counterparts and don’t generally involve a lot of criminal prosecution.)

FEDERALIST
— 12 Ways The Southern Poverty Law Center Is A Scam To Profit From Hate-Mongering  The Southern Poverty Law Center’s ‘Hate List’ has all the authority of a mean girl’s burn book. Yet it is dangerously provocative. – Stella Morabito  (DIERSEN: Many individuals, organizations, companies, and governments blacklist me because I refuse to carry out their blacklist orders.  Should I write a book about a) those individuals, organizations, companies, and governments that blacklist me and b) those individuals, organizations, companies, and governments that they want me to blacklist?  The book would be extremely lengthy.)
https://thefederalist.com/2017/05/17/12-ways-southern-poverty-law-center-scam-profit-hate-mongering/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: What makes the hate list of the Southern Poverty Law Center different from the “burn book” a high school queen bee keeps in the 2004 movie “Mean Girls”? Answer: not much. The burn book was a compilation of insults, gossip, and rumors intended to repel the diva’s “enemies,” label everybody, and keep herself on top of the heap. The SPLC uses its list of designated hate groups in much the same way: to manipulate the lives of others, smear reputations, control personal relationships, and reap the spoils. The dynamic is the same, whether played on the adolescent scene or in the political arena. Both lists serve mostly as power-mongering tools. In civilized societies, we supposedly grow out of that sort of tribalism. But look around and you’ll see such behaviors proliferating in every sphere: politics, journalism, education. A recent headline in the Washington Examiner nailed it: “The Bret Stephens Freak Out is a Reminder that the Media Is Basically a Massive High School Clique.” Why do so many folks treat the SPLC with undeserved reverence, the way too many high school kids treat a self-appointed nasty queen bee? Why do they accept the Southern Poverty Law Center as the nation’s Grand Inquisitor dictating who may speak and who must shut up? And why are its smears and caricatures so often blindly accepted at face value? What qualifies the SPLC to act as judge, jury, and social executioner of any human being who is not their blind supporter? Those questions have been hanging in the air for decades. As with all vilification campaigns, the SPLC plays a dangerous and cruel game under the guise of defending victims. So let’s take a closer look at some of the SPLC’s history and behavior. Let’s count some ways it’s a con game.)

LUTHERAN CHURCH CHARITIES
— Unity – Working Together – Tim Hetzner  (DIERSEN: I should write a book about those in Wheaton, in Glen Ellyn, in Milton Township, and in Illinois who work the hardest to unify those who are anti-Trump, anti-Protestant, anti-conservative, anti-Republican, anti-American, anti-White, anti-male, anti-older people, anti-rich people, anti-gun owners, anti-German Americans, anti-draft avoiders (except Bill Clinton), and/or anti-those whose ancestors have been in America longer than their ancestors AGAINST THOSE WHO ARE Trump supporters, Protestant, conservative, Republican, American, White, male, older, rich, gun owners, German Americans, draft avoiders (except Bill Clinton), and/or those whose ancestors have been in America for a long time.)

CNN
— What is obstruction of justice?  Claim has been used in Nixon, Clinton cases (DIERSEN: My Democrat superiors in the federal government were smart enough to not put in writing things that would get them in trouble. My Democrat GAO superiors did not put in writing their real reasons why they forced me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, did not promote me beyond GS-13, kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO 1980-1997, and forced me to take an $18,847 pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980.  My Democrat IRS superiors did not put in writing their real reasons why they did not promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, and disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974.  My Democrat Post Office superiors did not put in writing their real reasons why they forced me resign in 1969 and disallowed my sick leave requests in 1969 and 1968.)

— Comey Memo Says Trump Asked Him to End Flynn Investigation – MICHAEL S. SCHMIDT  (DIERSEN: My Democrat superiors in the federal government were smart enough to not put in writing things that would get them in trouble. — The Gender Pay Gap Is Largely Because of Motherhood – Claire Cain Miller  (DIERSEN: I should write a book about those in Wheaton, in Glen Ellyn, in Milton Township, in DuPage County, and in Illinois who have focused on demonizing, denigrating, and condemning my wife and I for our giving up trying to have children, for our not adopting, and for our not becoming foster parents.)

— Highway Robbery Targets the Poor – PETER FUNT  (DIERSEN: One reason why my wife and I have more money is that we have always used public transportation to get to and from work. Many, if not most, if not virtually all of my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes would never stoop to use public transportation.  They are “above it all.”)

— A Remote Pacific Island Awash in Tons of Trash – AUSTIN RAMZY  (DIERSEN: Trash has not washed onto the Cove Court subdivision in Wheaton, but many tons of storm water and silt have washed onto the Cove Court subdivision in Wheaton.  Both the Cove Court subdivision in Wheaton and the Prairie Path Park in Wheaton are watershed areas.)

— BEYOND TRAGIC: More American Workers Are Testing Positive for Drugs  More than one in 25 U.S. workers fail their employer’s drug tests; marijuana is on the rise, according to Quest Diagnostics – Lauren Weber  (DIERSEN. Many, if not most of my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes talk and act a) like they drink lots of booze, b) like they sell and/or smoke pot, and/or c) like they want to sell and/or smoke pot legally.)

— Why Northwestern President Morton Schapiro Favors Safe Spaces  It isn’t about coddling students. It’s about creating an environment for learning – Douglas Belkin  (DIERSEN: Ever-increasing, colleges focus on cranking out “good little Democrats” who are anti-Trump, anti-Protestant, anti-conservative, anti-Republican, anti-American, anti-White, anti-male, anti-older people, anti-rich people, anti-gun owners, anti-German Americans, anti-draft avoiders (except Bill Clinton), and/or anti-those whose ancestors have been in America longer than their ancestors.)

— HARDCOPY ARTICLE TITLE: Nine Survey Questions for People Who create Survey Questions – Alexandra Samuel  (DIERSEN: What do you know about surveys?  During the last 8 years that I worked for GAO, I worked on major reports that were based on major surveys.  SEE: http://www.gao.gov/assets/160/154342.pdf (FINANCIAL DERIVATIVES: Actions Needed to Protect the Financial System) and at http://www.gao.gov/assets/160/156011.pdf (OTC DERIVATIVES: Additional Oversight Could Reduce Costly Sales Practice Disputes)

USA TODAY
— Work and politics: What rights do employees have? – Charisse Jones and Michael Izzo  (DIERSEN: From what I see, employers in America are either anti-Trump or scared to death of anti-Trumps.  Because of the aforesaid, soon, if not already, employers in America will stop hiring members of the following groups and will get rid of their employees who are members of the following groups: Trump supporters, Protestant, conservative, Republican, American, White, male, older, rich, gun owners, German Americans, draft avoiders (except Bill Clinton), and/or those whose ancestors have been in America for a long time.)
https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2017/05/16/work-and-politics-what-rights-do-employees-have/101753060/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Should your politics outside of work affect your status in the office? A congressman’s letter that helped push a New Jersey attorney to resign after her boss was told she was a grassroots “ringleader,’’ has sparked questions about how much an employer can clamp down on an employee’s activism. The Office of Congressional Ethics has been asked to investigate whether U.S. Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-New Jersey) interfered with the workplace standing of Saily Avelenda, a former senior vice president at Lakeland Bank, when he called out her political activities in a letter to a member of the bank’s board. In an era of heightened political tensions, when football players have knelt in protest during the national anthem and many Americans are marching and boycotting for perhaps the first time, the case is showing how politics and the workplace can collide.)

LAS VEGAS SUN

FED WEEK
— House Takes Step toward Long-Sought Changes in Pay, Benefits (DIERSEN: Are/were you accused of being overpaid?  My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have always accused me of being overpaid. In my defense, I earned a) a job-related bachelor’s degree when I was 21 and job-related master’s degrees when I was 27, 31, and 48, b) job-related professional certifications when I was 30, 32, 41, 45, 47, and 48, and c) a job-related professional license when I was 33.)
http://www.fedweek.com/fedweek/house-takes-step-toward-long-sought-changes-pay-benefits/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: One focus will be a recent CBO report finding that on average federal employees are slightly ahead in pay, and well ahead in terms of benefits, compared with private sector employees of similar education levels. However, that report also showed that those differences vary greatly by educational level, with federal workers having the lowest levels the farthest ahead by both measures, while the most-educated employees are slightly behind in benefits and well behind in salary–again, on average.)

THINK PROGRESS
— Top Trump official says we shouldn’t take care of someone who ‘eats poorly and gets diabetes’  So much for compassionate conservatism. – Jack Jenkins  (DIERSEN: If I sought a government office or a political office, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes would a) crow that they spend many hours exercising each and every day and b) viciously demonize me, viciously denigrate me, and viciously condemn me for coming down with type 2 diabetes.  My father fought type 1 diabetes from age 14 and died suddenly from heart failure in 1969 when he was 47 and I was 21.)
