— DIERSEN HEADLINE: Those who hate “traditional gas-powered” cars promote “electric” cars. Overwhelmingly, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes a) hate cars, and especially cars made by General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler, b) hate those who own/owned cars made by General Motors, Ford, or Chrysler, and c) hate unions and past, present, and future union members.  I was a union member for almost 12 years. I worked for Chrysler for a short time in 1970.  I own a 1972 Chevy Corvette, 1996 Ford Thunderbird LX, 2003 Chevy Cavalier LS, 2005 Chevy Corvette, 2013 Dodge Charger R/T Max, and 2016 Ford Mustang.  I have owned a 1958 Chevy BelAir, 1962 Chevy BelAir, 1962 Chevy Impala SS, 1966 Pontiac Tempest Sprint, 1968 Oldsmobile 442, 1968 Dodge Charger R/T, 1969 Dodge Charger SE, 1974 Dodge Dart, 1978 Chevy Chevette, 1978 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale, 1990 Ford Thunderbird LX, 1993 Ford Thunderbird, and 1997 Chevy Cavalier.)

They especially oppose the Milton Township Republican Central Committee, the DuPage County Republican Central Committee, and the Illinois Republican Party from developing budgets and following budgets.  If you want to destroy an organization, you discourage it from developing budgets and following budgets.)

DUPAGE POLICY JOURNAL
— Who are the City of West Chicago’s highest-paid employees?  (DIERSEN: It would be great if DuPage Policy Journal would do this for GAO’s Chicago office.  My ending GAO salary of $122,991 in today’s dollars was significantly lower because of adverse actions that my Democrat GAO, IRS, and Post Office superiors took against me.  My Democrat GAO superiors forced me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, did not promote me beyond GS-13, kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and forced me to take an $18,847 pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980.  My Democrat IRS superiors did not promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, and disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974.  My Democrat Post Office superiors forced me resign in 1969 and disallowed my sick leave requests in 1969 and 1968.)

ILLINOIS LEAKS
— Wheeling Trustee Mary Krueger claims First Amendment doesn’t protect offending speech – JOHN KRAFT  (DIERSEN: If you say, do, or write something that my critics/opponents disapprove of, my critics/opponents have their operatives and their dupes destroy you.  Should I write a book about my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes?  They have lots of religious, government, political, and/or financial clout in Wheaton, in Glen Ellyn, in Milton Township, in DuPage County, and in Illinois. They disapprove of everything that I say, do, and write, but so far, they have not been able to completely destroy me. They crow that I am no longer a TAPROOT Republicans of Illinois chairman, a Wheaton Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee member, the Milton Township Republican Central Committee webmaster, an Illinois Center Right Coalition Steering Committee member, an American Association of Political Consultants Midwest Chapter board member, GAO employee, etc.)

ILLINOIS FAMILY INSTITUTE
— When Transparency Really Means Tyranny – Joel Erickson  (DIERSEN: Democrats want you to donate, but only to organizations that promote the Democrat Party platform.)
https://illinoisfamily.org/federal/transparency-really-means-tyranny/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: In his recent video for PragerU, National Review senior fellow David French illuminates the political buzzword of “transparency” and the Left’s illicit application of the concept to the private citizen. While the government possesses an obligation to be transparent in its exercise of your tax dollars, privacy is an individual right, and no government is entitled to know whether or not you donate to a nonprofit like IFI.)

They a) reject planks in the Republican Party platform and/or the Illinois Republican Party platform and work against those like me who support those planks, b) reject the Milton Township Republican Central Committee resolution against video gambling and work against those like me who support that resolution, c) focus on destroying those like me who they cannot manipulate/dominate, d) were defendants in lawsuits that I have filed, and/or e) are operatives or dupes for the aforesaid and/or they are anti-Trump, anti-Protestant, anti-conservative, anti-Republican, anti-American, anti-White, anti-male, anti-older people, anti-rich people, anti-gun owners, anti-German Americans, anti-draft avoiders (except Bill Clinton), and/or anti-those whose ancestors have been in America longer than their ancestors.)

— Racism Is Everywhere, So Why Not Move South? – RENIQUA ALLENJULY  (DIERSEN: One reason why I accepted IRS’s job offer in 1971 when I was 22 years old was that I had just witnessed the power that EEOC had over the private sector to destroy those who share my demographics. Just before I accepted IRS’s job offer, Oldsmobile had withdrawn a job offer that I had accepted saying that it had just agreed to stop hiring Whites to settle an EEOC complaint.  EEOC promotes reverse discrimination, and therefore, it also promotes age discrimination.)

— All the President’s Lawyers  Donald Trump’s life and career have been defined by his legal battles. But do the attorneys who guided him through the courtrooms of New York and New Jersey know how to navigate Washington? – JONATHAN MAHLER  (DIERSEN: If I sought a government office or a political office, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes would call me litigious. I should write a book about all the lawsuits that I have filed including the judges, the defendants, the charges I made, the defenses that the defendants made, the lawyers who represented me, the lawyers who represented the defendants, the outcomes of the lawsuits, and the retaliation against me by the defendants.)

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/07/08/opinion/sunday/can-conservatives-find-their-way.html
— Who Do We Think Of as Poor? – TRACIE McMILLAN  (DIERSEN: Many, if not most, if not virtually all of my Democrat coworkers and subordinates in the federal government painted themselves as being poor. They hinted/implied/argued/shouted a) that instead of me, the Post Office should have hired a poor person in 1966, b) that the Post Office should gotten rid of me much sooner than it did so that a poor person could have my job, c) that instead of me, IRS should have hired a poor person in 1971, d) that instead of me, IRS should have promoted poor people in 1972, 1973, and 1974, e) that instead of me, GAO should have hired a poor person in 1980, f) that instead of me, GAO should have promoted a poor person in 1986, and g) that GAO should have gotten rid of me much sooner than it did so that a poor person could have my job and my preferred corner office.)

In my defense, I stressed a) that all my ancestors immigrated to northeast Illinois during the 1840s and 1850s, b) that my grandfather on my father’s side fought the Germans in WWI, c) that my uncles on my mother’s side fought the Germans in WWII, and d) my father would have fought the Germans in WWII if he had not been 4-F.)

WASHINGTON POST
— An inside look at One America News, the insurgent TV network taking ‘pro-Trump’ to new heights – Marc Fisher  (DIERSEN: Just kidding, but one could compare what Robert Herring Sr. and his “One America News” (
http://www.oann.com/) does for America with Dave Diersen and what his “GOPUSA ILLINOIS” emails (www.gopillinois.com) does for Illinois.)
https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/style/an-inside-look-at-one-america-news-the-insurgent-tv-network-taking-pro-trump-to-new-heights/2017/07/05/7475f0a4-4fa2-11e7-91eb-9611861a988f_story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: One America News is an obscure TV channel struggling to emerge from the cellar of the cable ratings, but it is nonetheless one of President Trump’s favorite media outlets. It’s not hard to see why: On One America newscasts, the Trump administration is a juggernaut of progress, a shining success with a daily drumbeat of achievements. One America — a tiny father-and-sons operation that often delivers four times as many stories per hour as its competitors — promises “straight news, no opinion,” promoting itself as the antidote to the Big Three cable news networks’ focus on punditry and the one big story of the moment. But since its inception in 2013, and especially since Trump began his march to the White House, One America’s owner, Robert Herring Sr., a millionaire who made his money printing circuit boards, has directed his channel to push Trump’s candidacy, scuttle stories about police shootings, encourage antiabortion stories, minimize coverage of Russian aggression, and steer away from the new president’s troubles, according to more than a dozen current and former producers, writers and anchors, as well as internal emails from Herring and his top news executives.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Those 15 Republicans who voted for the tax hike gave Madigan enough votes to pass the tax and to give ample political cover to eight House Democrats, some in suburban districts, to vote against it. In effect, the 15 Republicans protected the Madigan Democrats, so Madigan didn’t have to expose his pet minions. And now they can send out direct mail advertising — approved by Boss Madigan — to tell voters in their districts that they’re Democrats independent of Madigan, that they care for middle-class suburban taxpayers, that they haven’t lost touch. Of course that’s nonsense. If Boss Madigan told them to lick the white powder off the Capitol Building floor, they’d do it. There were 10 Democrats who voted against the tax increase: Mike Halpin; Marty Moylan; Michelle Mussman; Jerry Costello II; Natalie Manley; Sue Scherer; Katie Stuart; Sam Yingling; John Connor; Rita Mayfield. Eight of these, all but Connor and Mayfield, were expected to have been targeted by Republicans.)

BLOOMBERG
— A “Safe Harbor” Plan For Hiring Older Workers – Samuel Estreicher  (DIERSEN: Virtually all my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes promote age discrimination.)
https://www.bloombergquint.com/view/2017/07/07/a-safe-harbor-plan-for-hiring-older-workers
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Nearly every day, hundreds of Americans over the age of 50 lose their jobs due to corporate downsizing. These workers remain unemployed for longer periods than do younger workers and are more likely to leave the workforce entirely. The rise of long-term joblessness among middle-aged Americans is straining public resources, contributing to drug use and harming economic growth. What can be done? Paradoxically, federal laws against age discrimination also discourage companies from taking a chance on older job applicants. That’s why the key to helping older workers find jobs is to reduce the costs of letting them go. The United States has been a global leader in protecting workers from employment discrimination on the basis of age. The federal Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) and similar state laws bar employers from treating older workers differently than their younger counterparts with respect to wages, benefits, and other working conditions. These laws have had a largely beneficial effect for older people who already have jobs. But they make it harder for the unemployed to find work. Companies tend to assume that older job applicants will be problematic employees. Older workers often must adjust to lower salaries than they’re accustomed to and may bristle at working for younger supervisors. Because older workers belong to a protected class under age-bias laws, employers face potential legal action if they attempt to fire disgruntled or unproductive employees. The easier route is to avoid the problem altogether — and not consider job applicants over the age of 50. There are essentially two ways to deal with this problem: sticks and carrots. The most readily available sticks are lawsuits filed by job applicants who believe they’ve been victimized by age bias. But such an approach can only go so far. The law gives employers considerable latitude when it comes to hiring decisions, and effective challenges to hiring bias are extremely rare. Job seekers are not told why their applications are unsuccessful; even when employers adopt across-the-board rules against hiring older workers, such discriminatory policies are rarely written down and thus difficult to prove. Carrots are more effective. Specifically, the government should allow for wider use of “safe harbors” – essentially administrative rules that give employers a risk-free opportunity to hire older workers and then evaluate whether the perceived drawbacks actually materialize. The agency responsible for enforcing the federal statute barring age discrimination is the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The EEOC has the authority to grant exemptions, also termed safe harbors, from the ADEA. Early on in the agency’s history, the EEOC promulgated safe-harbor-type guidelines to encourage affirmative action programs and careful use of aptitude tests. The U.S. Supreme Court itself announced a kind of safe harbor in its 1998 rulings telling companies when they will be held liable for sexual harassment committed by supervisors (and when they likely will not). The safe-harbor approach could be used to experiment with ways to overcome hiring barriers confronting older workers. For example, the EEOC could declare that job applicants may be hired for a two-year probationary period. Workers employed under the safe-harbor authority would be protected by all other laws, including laws against harassment and unequal benefits. But if an employer chose to terminate them during the probationary period, the employees would not be permitted to challenge the decision in court. If this safe-harbor approach proved effective in helping older workers find jobs, the EEOC could consider extending it to other groups who face obstacles in the hiring process. These might include people with certain physical disabilities, such as blindness, that are costly to accommodate, or workers with criminal or credit records. Use of the safe-harbor provision provides a way to promote anti-discrimination objectives without any serious downside. It would give older Americans left out of the labor market a chance to persuade employers they can be productive contributors to the new workplace.)

http://www.chicagobusiness.com/article/20170705/BLOGS02/170709989/illinois-balks-at-vote-fraud-panels-data-request
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Add Illinois to the list of states that are balking at turning over massive amounts of voter data that is normally kept private to a commission chaired by Vice President Mike Pence. In an interview, Ken Menzel, general counsel to the Illinois State Board of Elections, said the board this morning finally received a written request from the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity. The commission says it’s trying to prevent voter fraud; Democrats say it is attempting to drive down voter turnout among progressive voters. The request was mistakenly sent to Secretary of State Jesse White, whose office passed it on to the board. Menzel said the matter will be researched and referred to the board for possible action. But the board doesn’t meet until Aug. 22, Menzel added, so nothing is going to be happening soon. And it’s clear that at least some requested data will not be going to the feds. “They’re certainly not going to get the last four numbers of (each registrant’s) Social Security number,” he said. “We don’t give that out to anybody.” Some other information—the commission asked for past military records, felony convictions and other data—may be possible, Menzel indicated. But even that’s not sure. “This (request) doesn’t fit neatly into what our laws provide.” I’d look for Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan to jump into this fray.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: What motivates you? We know that your work to get paid and meet your needs, but what makes you take extra time and effort to do a job well? Why do people work for the government and why do some contribute so much more than others? As a former HR specialist these are questions that I am motivated to examine. Clearly, there are carrots and sticks to consider when looking at what makes Feds go. This article focuses on the most commonly considered carrot – money. Memories and motivation  There is ample reason to believe that the General Schedule will be abolished over the next few years and replaced by a pay-for-performance (PFP) system. It will likely be shaped by “pay bands” in which new hires are placed when hired. After that, annual salaries will only be increased based on performance reviews.)

Parade entries include Peter Roskam for U.S. Congress (#17); Jeanne Ives for Illinois House and Mike Connelly for Illinois Senate (#16); Peter Breen for Illinois House (#18); Bob Berlin for DuPage State’s Attorney (#19); Grant Eckhoff, Tim Elliott, Amy Grant, and Tim Whelan for DuPage District 4 (#21); James Mendrick for DuPage Sheriff (#23); Karen Wilson for DuPage Judge (#20); Milton Township Republican Central Committee (#22), and Bibbianno for DuPage Sheriff (#27) have entries. The parade lineup is at https://wheatonparkdistrict.com/wp-content/uploads/July_4_2017_Parade_Lineup.pdf. This year, for the 12th year in a row, “DuPage Republicans” will help sponsor the parade.  They will be one of the two $2,500 “Star” sponsors and again sponsor the Wheaton high school bands (#25) and the Tunes of Glory Pipes and Drums (#15) parade entries and again have a booth at the July 3 fireworks. Outstandingly, again this year Tim Whelan will coordinate Republican use of the booth at the fireworks. This year again, I have delivered flyers to the residences and businesses on the parade route. The flyers list the Republican entries in the parade and the Republicans who helped sponsor entries. Outstandingly, the flyers were printed courtesy of Alpha Graphics. This year, outstandingly, Roger Claar is a $500 contributor, Chris Nybo is a $250 contributor, Phil Suess is a $150 contributor, and Bob Berlin, Peter Breen, Mike Connelly, Grant Eckhoff, Tim Elliott, Amy Grant, Gwen Henry, Paul Hinds, Jeanne Ives, Marty Keller, Deanne Mazzochi, Paula McGowen, James Mendrick, Peter Roskam, Darlene Ruscitti, and Tim Whelan are $100 contributors. Please plan on watching the 22-minute fireworks Monday evening July 3 at Graf Park, and stopping by the DuPage Republicans booth.  Please plan on watching the parade on Tuesday morning July 4 or walking in the parade with one of the Republican entries. If you want to walk with one of the Republican entries, I suggest being at the staging area at Fifth Third Bank on north Main Street at 9:00 AM. This year is the 10th anniversary of an elephant walking behind Roskam in the parade.  I had the honor of raising $2,000 on short notice from DuPage Republicans to sponsor that elephant.  – Dave Diersen

(FROM THE EDITORIAL: Economic inequality: The Chicago area has yet to make much headway bridging the chasm between haves and have-nots. Disinvestment continues to ravage the city’s South and West sides and many south suburbs, perpetuating a cycle of violence and outmigration that destroys neighborhoods. In the meantime, downtown and the North Side flourish, recharged by a steady influx of millennials. It’s an imbalance that robs residents in struggling neighborhoods of access to parity in education, jobs, housing and transportation. “These residents are not well connected to opportunities provided by the region’s economy,” CMAP states in preview report to “On To 2050,” the regional comprehensive plan that the agency will release next year. “As a result, a substantial portion of the region’s human capital — embodied in the talents and skills of these residents — is being wasted.”)

CHICAGO SUN-TIMES
— Illinois Senate GOP Leader Christine Radogno will resign Saturday – Tina Sfondeles
http://chicago.suntimes.com/politics/illinois-senate-gop-leader-christine-radogno-will-resign-saturday/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Illinois Senate Republican Leader Christine Radogno on Thursday announced she’s resigning. Radogno — the first female caucus leader in Illinois General Assembly history — will resign as leader and also as a senator on Saturday, the first day of a new fiscal year, and the looming deadline for a budget deal to be reached. “I have done everything I can do to resolve the state’s budget crisis. I will continue to do so for the coming days. But if the solution will not come on my watch, I hope and pray that the Governor, other legislative leaders, Democrats and Republicans in the Senate and House can find a path to solve the state’s problems,” Radogno said in a statement. Radogno and Illinois Senate President John Cullerton last December came together to craft the “grand bargain” package to try to end the impasse. While the plan fell apart at times, all measures within the package passed the Illinois Senate. It was Radogno, R-Lemont, who came to Cullerton to try to come up with a plan to try to solve the budget crisis. In her statement, Radogno thanked Cullerton for his “friendship and working relationship.” “Though I leave political office with a sense of sadness and some disappointment, I leave with no regrets. I did my best – that’s all I could do. It has been a privilege to serve. But now I am looking forward to returning to private life and spending time with my family, especially my five grandchildren.” Radogno began her third term as leader in 2013. She has served in the Illinois Senate since 1997 and represents the 41st District in DuPage, Will and Cook counties.)

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/politics/ct-christine-radogono-retirement-illinois-senate-met-0630-20170629-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: State Sen. Christine Radogno, the first female legislative leader in Illinois history, said Thursday that she will resign from office effective Saturday. The resignation of the top Illinois Senate Republican comes a couple months after she and Democratic Senate President John Cullerton tried to negotiate an end to the record budget impasse. Those talks fell apart, and Democrats blamed Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner, who had been shut out of the talks. “I believe it’s time for a new Senate Republican leader. I have done everything I can do to resolve the state’s budget crisis. I will continue to do so for the coming days,” Radogno said in a statement. “But if the solution will not come on my watch, I hope and pray that the governor, other legislative leaders, Democrats and Republicans in the Senate and House can find a path to solve the state’s problems. Radogno, 64, of southwest suburban Lemont, said she is leaving office “with a sense of sadness and some disappointment” but “with no regrets.” “I did my best — that’s all I could do. It has been a privilege to serve. But now I am looking forward to returning to private life and spending time with my family, especially my five grandchildren,” she said. Even before her announcement, behind-the-scenes efforts to replace Radogno were being made by state Sen. Bill Brady of Bloomington, who served as her top deputy in the Senate GOP caucus, and by state Sen. Karen McConnaughay, the former Kane County Board chairwoman from St. Charles, legislative sources said. Talk of Radogno’s decision had begun spreading privately during the closing days of June in the aftermath of months of contentiousness with a Democratic legislative majority and a demanding Republican governor who has extensively used his personal wealth to command loyalty among GOP lawmakers. Radogno found her members’ loyalty to Rauner sometimes created problems with loyalty to her leadership, some GOP lawmakers said privately. That surfaced in attempts with Democrat Cullerton to negotiate an end to the state’s historic budget impasse known as the “grand bargain.” Rauner contended the so-called bargain did not go far enough and Democrats accused him of stripping away votes from a version of the package. Though Radogno has been in the General Assembly for 20 years, a decision to step down had been expected as the grind of legislative sessions, particularly serving in the minority, began to take its toll. Besides the political battles, Radogno also had some personal tragedies during her tenure, including the June 2014 death of her 31-year-old daughter, Lisa. In 2009, Radogno became the first woman to lead one of the four legislative caucuses. She succeeded Frank Watson of Downstate Greenville, who had suffered a stroke. Before running for the Senate, she was a La Grange trustee for seven years. Prior to that, she was a social worker at Mercy Center for Health Care Services. She holds a master’s degree in social work from Loyola University.)

http://www.chicagobusiness.com/article/20170629/BLOGS02/170629827/radogno-quits-as-state-budget-war-deepens
(FROM THE ARTICLE: It’s a sign of just how bad the state’s budget war has become: One of the few officials widely considered to be someone who could and would compromise has announced her resignation, effective July 1. In a stunning—but not wholly unexpected—development, Sen. Christine Radogno of Lemont said she will step down as a senator and the Senate GOP leader on the same day the state’s new fiscal year will begin, quite likely without a budget in hand. “I have done everything I can do to resolve the state’s budget crisis,” Radogno said in a statement after meeting with her caucus. “I will continue to do so for the coming days. But if the solution will not come on my watch, I hope and pray that the governor, other legislative leaders, Democrats and Republicans in the Senate and House can find a path to solve the state’s problems.” She added: “Though I leave political office with a sense of sadness and some disappointment, I leave with no regrets. I did my best; that’s all I could do.” There was no immediate word on a replacement. Her departure clearly will not help resolve a heavily bitter and personal fight between two strong-willed men at the center of the budget battle: Gov. Bruce Rauner and House Speaker Mike Madigan. Along with Senate Democratic Leader John Cullerton, who has denied rumors about his impending resignation, Radogno crafted a “grand bargain” package that represented the only forward movement in years on a budget. While it never did come to a vote, it formed the basis of the budget and tax-hike plan that Cullerton sent to the Senate, and which now is pending in the House. Perhaps Radogno’s announcement will kick something into high gear in the hours that remain before July 1. But the signs at the moment aren’t great.)

It’s a tax cut for the wealthiest Americans, paid for by a dramatic reduction in healthcare funding for approximately 23 million poor, disabled and working middle class Americans. America’s wealthiest taxpayers (earning more than $200,000 a year, $250,000 for couples) would get a tax cut totaling $346 billion over 10 years, representing what they save from no longer financing healthcare for lower-income Americans.)

http://thehill.com/policy/finance/339159-gao-could-lose-200-staff-under-proposed-spending-levels-say-dems
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The flat level of funding proposed for the Government Accountability Office in an appropriations subcommittee markup would lead to a staff reduction of 200 employees by the end of 2018, Democrats warned on Friday. “Frankly this bill’s funding level for the Government Accountability Office, I feel, is irresponsible,” said Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio), the ranking member of the Appropriations Subcommittee on the Legislative Branch, which sent the bill to the full committee on Friday. That level of staff cuts would leave GAO with its lowest level of staff since the 1930s, Ryan added. The GAO is responsible for auditing government programs for Congress and recommending ways to ferret out inefficiencies. “With the Trump administration refusing legitimate oversight requests just because they come from Democrats, GAO’s efforts to root out waste, fraud and abuse are more important than ever,” Ryan said, referring to a legal opinion from the Trump administration advising agencies that they could ignore oversight requests from Democrats. The bill would leave the GAO’s funding flat at 2017 levels of $568 million, $46.2 million below its appropriation request for the year. Because the GAO expected $27.5 million in reimbursements from program and financial audits and rental income, however, the figure is only $22.7 million below its net appropriations request. Earlier in the week, GAO Director-General Gene Dodaro testified that the agency’s work identifying waste, fraud and abuse in the government led to $112 in savings for every dollar invested in the agency. “Last fiscal year alone, our work generated over $63 billion in financial benefits and 1,234 program and operational improvements across government,” Dodaro said.)
