DUPAGE POLICY JOURNAL
— Wheaton mayoral candidate Suess focusing on fiscal responsibility – Glenn Minnis
https://dupagepolicyjournal.com/stories/511779250-mayoral-candidate-suess-focusing-on-fiscal-responsibility
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Wheaton City Council member Phil Suess is being saluted by his supporters as the antithesis of fellow council member John Prendiville in their run to replace Mayor Michael Gresk, who is not seeking re-election. At a Feb. 17 fundraiser to formally kick off his campaign held at the DuPage County Historical Museum, Suess’ “experience, background and principles” were touted as what Wheaton now needs most. A longtime local businessman who has served on the council since 2005, the 61-year-old Seuss is credited in the campaign flyer with often being the voice of reason on the panel, especially when it came to matters such as keeping property tax rates in order. “Phil has led the city financially and focused on paying down debt and making reasonable affordable investments in core infrastructure (sewers, water, roads, sidewalks, and trees) without taking on risky projects,” detailed the invite to his Feb. 17 event. “He has literally saved the residents millions of dollars by being prudent and demanding better bids on projects. He voted against unnecessary property tax increases.“ In contrast, Prendiville is tagged in the flyer as a “big taxes and big government” legislator who has “voted for every tax increase.” The flyer adss, “As a city councilman, Prendiville advocated against Wheaton’s families and businesses and wanted the city to take on debt and incur annual subsidies to operate a private theater that was not (and is still not) able to attract sufficient private investment. Prendiville argued against private development of Mariano’s which brings in $700,000 worth of sales tax a year. Prendiville argued against the development of DuPage Medical Group… Prendiville’s tendency is always to suggest more government and higher taxes and government overreach on private property.” Finally, Seuss supporters in the advertisement urged voters to know exactly who they are casting their ballot in favor of. ”Your City Council has enormous power over your property,” the flyer added.)

    — JANUARY 23, 2019 FLASHBACK: Stress Over Shutdown Hits Veterans Who Work For The Federal Government Hard – CHAD DAVIS (DIERSEN: Overwhelmingly, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes demonize, denigrate, and condemn a) the federal government as being “the employer of last resort,” b) the work experience that federal employees gain as being worthless, and c) past, present, and future federal employees as being disgusting lazy stupid losers who should be gotten rid of.)

https://www.illinoisreview.com/illinoisreview/2019/02/nevins-to-il-gop-leadership-embrace-party-platform-or-step-down-.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: On February 9th, the Illinois Republican Central Committee held an open-to the public meeting. If you are not aware of this, cut yourself some slack: most of the precinct committeemen I know were also unaware of it-which logically means that their committees weren’t aware of it either. Nevertheless, approximately sixty concerned observers attended the meeting; the public portion lasted three hours after which the committee adjourned to do their sausage making in private. After a bit of jocular banter by Chairman Tim Schneider, a discussion ensued over precisely how much time to allot to non-member statements. In a move that illustrates the leadership’s reluctance to actually listen to its base, the committee members voted to allow sixty seconds per speaker and the microphone was passed around to those interested. Twelve individuals took the opportunity to speak their minds. I was one of them-and – owing to a kind soul who donated his moment in the sun- I took a little more than my allotment.)

ILLINOIS FAMILY ACTION
— IL GOP Chairman Tim Schneider Needs To Resign
https://illinoisfamilyaction.org/2019/02/il-gop-chairman-tim-schneider-needs-to-resign/

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The current IL GOP chairman, Tim Schneider, has divided the Party and for the following reasons should be asked to step down:

  • Tim Schneider tolerated years of lying by Bruce Rauner. When Rauner announced his candidacy for Governor, Tim Schneider was recruited to lead the IL GOP. He was Rauner’s faithful supporter from the beginning. Schneider stood behind Rauner as he lied about his support for HB 40 and then lied daily about the record of Jeanne Ives during the primary election. Finally, Schneider knew Rauner did not want to run for a second term, but remained silent about this during the fall election season while countless volunteers and donors were working their precincts.

  • Tim Schneider has done nothing to defend the IL GOP Platform. He remained supportive of Rauner while Rauner supported government funding of abortion, an income tax hike without pension reform, transgender birth certificates and a sanctuary state bill, just to name a few.

  • Tim Schneider doesn’t learn from his mistakes. At the December meeting of the Republican Party, Tim thanked Rauner for his contributions to the IL GOP, especially his financial contributions which have not left the Party more financially sound. No mention was made of the division Rauner created in the Party by his blatant lies and deception, or his disloyalty to our platform causing distrust and disrespect among Republican voters. Tim offered no solutions for uniting the Party other than surveying Republicans on issues of concern to them.)

(THE RESPONSE: Thank you for sending to me the below e-mail. I appreciate being on your mailing list and all you do to advance conservative causes in Illinois.

To borrow a phrase often used by Mark Levin, I am not a, “special pleader,” for Illinois Republican Party Chairman Tim Schneider, but I do believe in fairness. In that spirit, I make the following observations about your three reasons Chairman Schneider should step down:

1. On September 28, 2017, Chairman Schneider issued a press release expressing his disappointment with then-Governor Rauner’s decision to sign HB 40.

https://illinois.gop/ilgop-chairman-tim-schneider-statement-hb40/

Also, you state Chairman Schneider, “knew,” Rauner did not want to run for a second term. When the story became public, I personally asked the Chairman if he knew Rauner had asked people – including Illinois National Committeeman Richard Porter – to replace Rauner as our candidate for Illinois Governor. Chairman Schneider told me he did not know about these requests or Rauner’s lack of enthusiasm for re-election. I take Chairman Schneider at his word, because – to the best of my knowledge – he has always been truthful with me.

2. Chairman Schneider’s press release to which I linked above references, without mentioning the word, “platform,” the Illinois Republican Party’s opposition to taxpayer-funded abortion.

Also, I think you are being a little unfair to Governor Rauner when you wrote he supported, “an income tax hike without pension reform.” Recall Governor Rauner ultimately vetoed the income tax hike, but had his veto over-ridden with some Republican votes.

3. I have no problem with Chairman Schneider’s thanking Governor Rauner at our last meeting. The man was our Governor for four years and he did spend a LOT of time, money and energy trying to reform our state. Could Rauner have done better? Of course, but it would have been the epitome of ungratefulness – if not rudeness – not to publically thank Bruce Rauner for his efforts and contributions to our Party and the state at the first Republican State Central Committee meeting after the election.

Nowhere did you mention Chairman Schneider’s unwavering support of President Trump, which support may well have cost Schneider his seat on the Cook, “County Board.” I was at the Cleveland Convention with Chairman Schneider and can report he did everything he could to support then-candidate Trump. I have never heard Chairman Schneider speak ill of the President. Schneider was in an almost impossible position, trying to get Bruce Rauner re-elected while being faithful to the President.

Finally, assuming Chairman Schneider does not voluntarily resign, you should know that by the Illinois Republican Party By-Laws, removing the State Party Chairman requires 60% of the weighted vote of the State Central Committee. Unless something has drastically changed recently, I do not think there is anywhere near that sentiment among the 18 members of the Republican State Central Committee.

Having said the above, I have no problem with you raising the issue or with you publishing my home e-mail address and office phone number. I am always willing to hear from Republicans, especially from those who live in my Congressional District. It has been an honor to serve as the Republican State Central Committeeman from the 13th CD these past years.

Thank you.)

ILLINOIS REVIEW
— ONCE REPUBLICAN, IL CD #6 NOW REPRESENTED BY SOCIAL LEFTIST SEAN CASTEN (DIERSEN: Since 2000, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes who state that they are religious, conservative, and/or Republican have blamed me for all the losses that Republicans suffered in Wheaton, in Milton Township, in DuPage County, and in Illinois notwithstanding the fact that I have never been a) a chairman of a Milton Township Republican Central Committee (MTRCC) committee, b) a MTRCC officer, c) a MTRCC chairman, d) a DuPage County Republican Central Committee (DCRCC) officer, e) a DCRCC chairman, or f) an Illinois Republican Party (IRP) State Central Committee member. Further, I have not been a TAPROOT Republicans of Illinois chairman since 2012, a Wheaton Chamber of Commerce (WCC) Government Affairs Committee member since 2011, a MTRCC webmaster since 2010, an Illinois Center Right Coalition (ICRC) Steering Committee member since 2007, and an American Association of Political Consultants (AAPC) Midwest Chapter board member since 2004. I should write a book about past and present MTRCC, DCRCC, IRP, TAPROOT, WCC, ICRC, and AAPC members, employees, officers, and chairmen who have worked the hardest to blame me for all the losses that Republicans suffered in Wheaton, in Milton Township, in DuPage County, and in Illinois since 2000.)
https://www.illinoisreview.com/illinoisreview/2019/01/once-republican-il-cd-6-now-represented-by-social-leftist-sean-casten.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Wheaton Illinois, once nicknamed “Evangelicals’ Mecca” as home to the renowned Wheaton College where evangelist Billy Graham studied, is no longer conservative politically or religiously. The once-powerful DuPage County Republican organization lost State House and Senate representation in 2018, along with its place in the U.S. Congress. Republicans state reps. David Olsen, Peter Breen, Senators Chris Nybo, Mike Connelly are no longer representing the area in the Illinois legislature. The DuPage County Board now has eight (7?) Democrats on its 18-member board, after having only one Democrat for years. DuPage County Board Chairman Dan Cronin was challenged and nearly defeated by a Democrat. In addition, the far western suburbs’ adjoining IL Congressional District 14 is now represented by Democrat Lauren Underwood – who is portraying herself as a close colleague to the freshman New York Congress member Alexandira Ocasio-Cortez – a self-proclaimed socialist and influential Democrat.)

— Pension Buyout Participation Rate Higher Than Expected, Early Numbers Show – SAM DUNKLAU (DIERSEN: My Democrat GAO superiors’ success in forcing me to take their early retirement “offer” in 1997 when I was 49 years old forced my Civil Service Retirement System pension to be reduced by 12%. Instead of $60,586/year, it is only $53,316/year, or $7,270/year less. SEE: http://www.opm.gov/retirement-services/csrs-information/computation/)
http://www.nprillinois.org/post/pension-buyout-participation-rate-higher-expected-early-numbers-show#stream/0
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Public employees hired before 2011–and who have worked for at least eight years–get an annual three percent boost when they collect their pensions. That adds to what the retirees bring in, but also the cost of Illinois’ pension debt. So, state lawmakers introduced the option as part of last year’s budget. State retirees can now choose to swap the three percent annual adjustment on their pensions for a lump sum payment–70 percent of what they would have gotten. They also get to keep their base pension and 1.5 percent adjustment each year. Tim Blair is the Executive Secretary for Illinois’ State Employees Retirement System. He says the deal isn’t a panacea.)
