ABC7
— THE OFFICER MANAGER WHO WORE A WIRE AGAINST EX-CONGRESSMAN SCHOCK – Chuck Goudie
http://abc7chicago.com/news/the-officer-manager-who-wore-a-wire-against-schock-/1826860/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The I-Team looked into who it was that worked as an FBI informant inside the ranks of former Illinois Congressman Aaron Schock. Aaron Schock’s attorneys say the staffer who was wired for sound was his Peoria district office manager. Although not named in this week’s new Schock court filing, the only district manager during that time period was Bryan Rudolph, a political science and government degree-holder from Wheaton College. Prosecutors are likely to make Rudolph a key component of the government’s corruption case against former Schock, unless Schock’s lawyers can stop it. It was obvious from the time Schock was charged that federal agents had help from inside. His lawyers now claim in a new filing this week that Schock’s Peoria district manager “covertly record private conversations with and between Mr. Schock and his staff;” claiming the manager “stole” thousands of email messages and illegally took congressional office records. The manager then, whom the I-Team identified as 32-year-old Bryan Rudolph, consented to be an informant only after Schock had announced his resignation in March 2015, according to the defense filing. Rudolph, whose resume states that he began working for the federal government’s Social Security Administration in 2007, did not return messages or answer emails on Thursday concerning the undercover work or claims that evidence he gathered had been illegally obtained. Schock’s attorneys rip the government’s use of the staffer-turned-informant; in the court record they say that he broke the law by stealing information from the Illinois Republican’s files. They call it a trail of improper – if not outright illegal – acts. Schock is accused of numerous federal corruption charges including wire and mail fraud, theft of government funds and falsifying federal election filings. Prosecutors say he pocketed thousands in improper vehicle reimbursements, camera equipment and proceeds from selling tickets to the World Series and Super Bowl. Attorneys for Schock plan to ask that the case be thrown out because of how the informant evidence was gathered – or at least that the evidence collected by the office manager be barred from trial.)

— Democrat Mendoza: Illinois Republican Party ‘Creepily Stalking’ Her – Derrick Blakley
http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2017/03/30/democrat-mendoza-illinois-republican-party-creepily-stalking-her/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: An increasingly bitter political battle between two top Illinois officials has entered a new phase: car wars. As Democrat Susana Mendoza left the state capital Thursday and entered her state-purchased vehicle, she was followed by an Illinois GOP operative who shot video of her. Republicans later tweeted about Mendoza’s “loaded,” luxurious ride. The implication is that state government may be broke, but Mendoza’s living large on the taxpayer’s dime. Mendoza was furious, saying in a counter-tweet that the Illinois Republican Party was “creepily stalking me.” It’s the latest flap between Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner and Mendoza over who’s doing the most to look out for taxpayers. But does the GOP’s charge really hold up? Mendoza’s ride is a 2016 Ford Explorer, purchased used in January, with 16,431 miles. Total cost was $32,279. An invoice provided to CBS 2 shows Gov. Rauner’s main ride is newer, larger and more expensive. It’s a Ford Expedition XLT with extended length. It was purchased new, last December, by state police, at a cost $54,000. That is 67 percent more than Mendoza’s car. A Rauner spokesperson points out state police purchased the new vehicle – not Rauner’s office – even though the governor uses it. State police, of course, report directly to the governor.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Nearly three years after the start of what was then called “The Great War,” the United States entered World War I with a congressional declaration of war against Germany on April 6, 1917. Until then, President Woodrow Wilson had maintained a policy of non-intervention, and a strong antiwar sentiment had swept the U.S. as casualties mounted on the battlefields across Europe and beyond. But the growing threat of a powerful German navy and its fleet of submarines attacking American shipping, plus evidence that Germany was trying to draw Mexico to its side, persuaded Wilson to join forces with Great Britain and France.)

While such backing was strongest among Democrats, young people and Chicagoans, the plan gets support from 52 percent of Republicans surveyed, 54 percent of downstaters and 51 percent of those aged 66 and up, the institute said. Just 31 percent of voters overall indicated they oppose or strongly oppose such an action.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The bare-knuckled conservative news organization has moved its office out of the house where former chief Steve Bannon lived, has begun to reluctantly disclose its ownership, and, in its quest for official recognition, may even go so far as to publicly declare who runs the place. Breitbart has for the past several years operated, basically, out of Bannon’s house. Bannon was the executive chairman of Breitbart News and the ideological engine behind the site’s bareknuckled anti-immigration, anti-government ideology. He and the site both operated out of a townhouse on Capitol Hill a couple of blocks behind the Supreme Court. (FROM THE LETTER:  Do state Sen. Heather Steans and state Rep. Kelly Cassidy have no shame? The thought of legalizing marijuana for the purpose of raising revenue from the manufacture and sale of marijuana is yet one more example of stealing from the futures of our children to pay for lawmakers’ pet projects today. I have two children in high school and one in middle school. They are good kids, get good grades, and are active in scouts and the community. I hear stories from them of what some of the other students are up to at Downers Grove North. I read about the heroin epidemic and grieve for the families that have recently lost children. My children tell me they just say no, and I believe them. But I also know what I was up to when I was in high school, and there but by the grace of God go I. I know that Illinois has a budget problem and have been told by Democrats for many years that there is literally nowhere to cut. I have also seen with my own eyes much of the graft in city and state contracting. The Democrats’ positioning is that there are no options but to raise taxes. These lawmakers want to raise taxes through drug use, and I find that despicable. For whatever reason, there has been no grand bargain on expanded gambling for expanded revenue, and that’s got to hurt. Prostitution is still illegal in Illinois, however not rare. My heart goes out to the young ladies and their families whose revenue potentials will be eyed next. Democratic leadership has already spent more money for today than our kids and grandkids could possibly pay back in their lifetimes, so that must make the politicians proud. Their idea of promoting and taxing drug use is a good one to keep money flowing in, but bodes poorly for future generations. By the time the bill comes due these two legislators will be living on their fat, taxpayer-provided pensions, so what do they care? What if there are no public taxpayers left in Illinois to pay it? Steans and Cassidy must think carefully about what they’re doing. And in the meantime, try not to string out the kids for their comfort.)

— DISGUSTING: Colorado weighs strategy for guarding against pot crackdown – AP  (DIERSEN: If you promote pot, you are NOT a Republican. If you got elected to or appointed to a government or to a political position as a Republican, and you promote pot, you should immediately resign so that you can be replaced with a Republican.  If you promote pot, you are a Democrat, a Libertarian, or a Green.  You are anti-Republican, anti-conservative, anti-religious, and anti-American.)
http://www.wsiltv.com/story/34995922/colorado-weighs-strategy-for-guarding-against-pot-crackdown
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Colorado is considering an unusual strategy to protect its nascent marijuana industry from a potential federal crackdown, even at the expense of hundreds of millions of dollars in tax collections. A bill pending in the Legislature would allow pot growers and retailers to reclassify their recreational pot as medical pot if a change in federal law or enforcement occurs. It’s the boldest attempt yet by a U.S. marijuana state to avoid federal intervention in its weed market. The bill would allow Colorado’s 500 or so licensed recreational pot growers to instantly reclassify their weed. A switch would cost the state more than $100 million a year because Colorado taxes medical pot much more lightly than recreational weed – 2.9 percent versus 17.9 percent. The measure says licensed growers could immediately become medical licensees “based on a business need due to a change in local, state or federal law or enforcement policy.” The change wouldn’t take recreational marijuana off the books, but it wouldn’t entirely safeguard it either. What it could do is help growers protect their inventory in case federal authorities start seizing recreational pot. The provision is getting a lot of attention in the marijuana industry following recent comments from members of President Donald Trump’s administration. White House spokesman Sean Spicer has said there’s a “big difference” between medical and recreational pot. Sponsors of the bill call it a possible exit strategy for the new pot industry. It’s hard to say how many businesses would be affected, or if medical pot would flood the market, because some businesses hold licenses to both grow and sell marijuana in Colorado. The state had about 827,000 marijuana plants growing in the retail system in June, the latest available data. More than half were for the recreational market. “If there is a change in federal law, then I think all of our businesses want to stay in business somehow. They’ve made major investments,” said Sen. Tim Neville, a suburban Denver Republican who sponsored the bill. If federal authorities start seizing recreational pot, Colorado’s recreational marijuana entrepreneurs “need to be able to convert that product into the medical side so they can sell it,” Neville said. His bill passed a committee in the Republican Senate 4-1 last week.)

My father had died suddenly in October of 1969 and I had applied for and I eventually got a financial hardship draft deferment.  I was able to buy a new town home in University Park when I was 24 in 1972.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: A new report has found that millennials don’t consider themselves adults until they reach the age of 30. Yes, you read that correctly. According to The Wrap, research compiled by David Poltrack, CBS’ chief research officer and their ratings expert, as well as Nielsen Catalina Solutions, found that millennials consider themselves adults at age 30 because that’s when they typically are completely responsible for themselves – they no longer reside with their parents and pay entirely for their own bills.)

Prejudice, yes, but not racist. Racism describes a system of disadvantage based on race. Black people can’t be racist since we don’t stand to benefit from such a system.” Another sign peddled white stereotypes while insinuating all white people place black people in a box: “Dear white people, are you tired of your hum drum, Wonderbread existence of accidental racism and wishing you could sip on Henny out yo crunk cup without a bitch giving you the side-eye? Course you are.”)

http://rockrivertimes.com/2017/03/23/differences-apparent-in-pot-legalization-debate/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Anita Bedell, executive director of Illinois Church Action on Alcohol & Addiction Problems, said, “Just because something brings in revenue doesn’t mean it’s a good idea. They’re not considering the harm, they’re not considering costs.” Proponents also say it will spur on jobs. “So has gambling, so has other things …,” Bedell said. “There’s always going to be money in some things, but this is not a good way to have money for Illinois, and it would just cause more harm and cause more damage.” . . . Illinois Family Institute’s David Smith opposes legalization and said there would still be a black market. “The guy on the street that’s selling the pot doesn’t have to have the brick and mortar and the overhead and the employees and the insurance, and the workman’s comp,” Smith said. Smith also dismissed proponents who say illegal marijuana is a criminal justice issue because, he said, there are a very small number of inmates in the system for drug possession only. The Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police said they oppose the bill because of the traffic safety concerns.) . . . Rauner’s office said Thursday the governor is currently reviewing the legalization measure.)

NATIONAL REVIEW
— Entitlements: The Most Dangerous Addiction – DENNIS PRAGER
http://www.nationalreview.com/article/445940/entitlements-american-addiction
(FROM THE ARTICLE: All addictions – whether drug, alcohol, gambling, sexual, or cigarettes – are very hard to escape. There is one addiction, however, that might be more difficult than any other to escape – in part because it is not even regarded as an addiction. It is Entitlements Addiction, an addiction to getting something for nothing. One indication as to the power of Entitlements Addiction is that, while great numbers of people have voluntarily given up – almost always at great pain – drugs, alcohol, gambling, etc., few give up an addiction to entitlements. For the majority of able-bodied people who get cash payments, food stamps, subsidized housing, free or subsidized health insurance, and other welfare benefits, the thought of giving up any one of those and beginning to pay for them with their own earned money is as hard as giving up alcohol is to an alcoholic. Politicians know this, which is why it is close to impossible to ever reduce entitlements. And, of course, the Left knows this, which is why the Left almost always wins any debate over entitlements. Every American who is the beneficiary of an entitlement backs entitlements, and many who are not beneficiaries of entitlements would like to be. This, aside from ideology, is why the Left constantly seeks to increase entitlements: The more people receive government benefits, the more people vote left.)

CHICAGO TRIBUNE
— Emails to Emanuel raise questions about dozens of possible lobbying violations – Bill Ruthhart and Hal Dardick  (DIERSEN: Who/what do you lobby for?  I lobby for the Republican Party platform, the Illinois Republican Party platform, and the Milton Township Republican Central Committee resolution against video gambling.  My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes lobby against some, most, or all of the aforesaid.)

— The Democrats’ immigration problem – Henry Olsen  (DIERSEN: Ever-increasingly, anti-Trumps viciously demonize, viciously denigrate, and viciously condemn Trump supporters as being haters, racists, sexists, bigots, and even worse things, and especially Trump supporters who are Protestant, conservative, Republican, American, White, male, older, rich, gun owners, German American, draft avoiders, and/or those whose ancestors have been in America for a long time.)
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opinion/commentary/ct-democrats-immigration-trump-muslim-ban-20170320-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: If Democrats want to win again, they must do one of two things: Attract back the Obama-Trump voter or win over the Romney-non-Trump voter. Their protestations against border security and the travel ban are not likely to do either. Surveys show that Obama-Trump blue-collar voters like Trump’s anti-immigration stance. These voters are likely to have felt competition from immigrants legal and illegal, and they want that competition to stop. Even though many of these voters agree with Democrats on traditional economic issues like taxes and entitlement spending, their primary concern now is to protect their livelihoods and standard of living by reducing competition from foreigners living at home and abroad. . .Democrats are either unwilling to see the truth or unable to acknowledge it: They cannot win back the presidency without attracting people who disagree with some of their views. Doing that does not mean singing the same old songs louder and more clearly.)

— FRONT PAGE TOP OF FOLD: How a 1970s Arlington Heights case is affecting Trump’s travel ban – Burt Constable  (DIERSEN: Based in this, the statements made by advocates of “Welcoming Cities” can be used against those advocates. Overwhelmingly, those advocates have made statements that show that they are anti-Trump, anti-Protestant, anti-conservative, anti-Republican, anti-American, anti-White, anti-male, anti-older people, anti-rich people, anti-gun owners, anti-German Americans, anti-draft avoiders (except Bill Clinton), and/or anti-those whose ancestors have been in America longer than their ancestors and that they want to get rid of those who are Trump supporters, Protestant, conservative, Republican, American, White, male, older, rich, gun owners, German American, draft avoiders (except Bill Clinton), and/or those whose ancestors have been in America longer than their ancestors.)
http://www.dailyherald.com/article/20170321/news/170329828/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: According to a landmark U.S. Supreme Court ruling involving a 1970s housing lawsuit in Arlington Heights, judges are free to consider Donald Trump’s statements while ruling on the legality of his revised travel ban.)
— White House tries to distance Trump from campaign aides – AP  (DIERSEN: Who distances themselves from you?  Members of the following groups distance themselves from me: anti-Trump, anti-Protestant, anti-conservative, anti-Republican, anti-American, anti-White, anti-male, anti-older people, anti-rich people, anti-gun owners, anti-German Americans, anti-draft avoiders (except Bill Clinton), and anti-those whose ancestors have been in America for a long time.  In addition, members of the following groups distance themselves from me: those who a) reject planks in the Republican Party platform and work against those like me who support those planks, b) reject planks in the Illinois Republican Party platform and work against those like me who support those planks, c) reject the Milton Township Republican Central Committee resolution against video gambling and work against those like me who support that resolution, d) focus on destroying those like me who they cannot manipulate/dominate, e) were defendants in lawsuits that I have filed, f) are operatives for the aforesaid, and/or g) are dupes for the aforesaid.)
