(FROM THE ARTICLE: New polling released by Casten’s campaign on Wednesday indicated that the race appears to be a dead heat, with Roskam polling at 45 percent to Casten’s 44. And when it comes to Casten’s finances, Republicans are already on the attack. “Sean Casten using his daddy’s money to ensure that a qualified female candidate has no shot to make it out of a primary is both unoriginal and deeply concerning,” National Republican Congressional Committee spokeswoman Maddie Anderson said in a statement. “In the so-called ‘year of the woman’ – it’s a shame that Casten resorted to attacking Kelly Maseski using dark money once he realized his own message wasn’t enough to carry him across the finish line,” she added.)

WASHINGTON POST
— Bernie Sanders wants you to have a good job. But there’s a catch. – Megan McArdle (DIERSEN: Do you have a “good” job? Were the jobs that you have had “good” jobs? What do you say to my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes who have always demonized, denigrated, and condemned all the jobs that I have had as being bad, but nevertheless, that I was grossly overpaid? I did yard work and delivered newspapers 1962-1964; washed dishes 1964-1966; cleaned golf shoes, chipped slag, and pumped gasoline in 1966; delivered mail 1966-1969; worked on an automobile assembly line and as a security guard in 1970; sold tires, automotive services, and major appliances 1970-1971; pumped gasoline 1971-1972; collected delinquent taxes 1971-1980; and audited federal agencies 1980-1997. I should a book about my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes who hint/imply/argue/shout that because they are FAR SUPERIOR TO ME, they never would have had to take the bad jobs that I took.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) wants you to have a good job. He wants everyone to have a good job. In fact, he wants to guarantee it, and he’s followed Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand (N.Y.) and Cory Booker (N.J.), two other potential Democratic presidential hopefuls, in proposing some sort of program to provide a highly paid job with the federal government to every American who wants one. Unlike other ideas gaining vogue on the left, this actually seems vaguely centrist in its premise, despite its venerable socialist history. Democrats, after all, are the party of big entitlement spending, and Republicans are the party that says “Get a job!” If you smash those two things together, you get something that sounds kind of . . . moderate. At least until you get into the details. Those details, unfortunately, are a devil. Sanders wants the government to provide guaranteed jobs at $15 an hour, plus benefits. His office did not, a representative demurely told Post reporter Jeff Stein, yet have cost estimates for this proposal.)

I am one of the extremely few Republicans who has worked for GAO on audits of IRS. I worked IRS for almost 9 years, the last 5 1/2 years at the GS-12 Step 1-5 levels, currently $81,071-$91,880. I worked GAO on audits of IRS for 3 years at the GS-13 Step 1-3 levels, currently $96,403-$102,830.)

BLOOMBERG
— To Save Democracy, This Economist Wants to Kill Its Core Principle Dambisa Moyo’s Edge of Chaos makes an argument for weighted voting—giving more voting power to the educated, and taking it away for others. – PETER COY (DIERSEN: How informed are the voters in your precinct, in your municipality, in your township/ward, in your county, in Illinois, and in America? Why do they vote? To vote for Democrats is to vote to get rid of individuals, organizations, companies, governments, and countries that are Trump supporters, Protestant, conservative, patriotic, Republican, American, White, male, older, rich, gun owners, German American, draft avoiders, and/or those whose ancestors have been in America for a long time.)
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-04-19/dambisa-moyo-edge-of-chaos-review
(FROM THE ARTICLE: As is often the case, though, Moyo’s solutions aren’t as persuasive as her diagnosis. If you think about it, even devoted democrats draw the line somewhere on ballot box access: The right to vote is generally denied to prisoners, children, noncitizens, and people judged mentally incompetent. But imagine the envy and anger that would be unleashed if voting power were based on profession or education. Who would decide how to divide the public into first-, second-, and third-class citizens? Would biology professors be certified as “highly qualified” but high school history teachers ranked “standard qualified”? What about journalists vs. carpenters vs. actors vs. the unemployed? And how much of the public would be consigned to the lowest tier of “unqualified” voters—would it be 1 percent or 10 percent or more? A civics test seems a more defensible way to implement weighted voting, but not really. It implicitly equates knowledge with good judgment, which experience tells us isn’t a sound equation. As the conservative writer William F. Buckley Jr. once said, “I’d rather entrust the government of the United States to the first 400 people listed in the Boston telephone directory than to the faculty of Harvard University.” In the end, Moyo comes across as a well-meaning meritocrat. Democracy has its flaws, all right, but elitism isn’t the way to cure them.)

INDIANA GAZETTE
— Another election problem: no tax return – Harry Shirley, Brush Valley (DIERSEN: One could argue that if candidates should disclose their tax returns, than voters should too. What percent of voters vote for a candidate because that candidate promises to use government to give preference to those who share that voter’s demographics? What percent of voters vote for a candidate because that candidate promises to use government to get rid of those individuals, organizations, companies, governments, and countries that are Trump supporters, Protestant, conservative, patriotic, Republican, American, White, male, older, rich, gun owners, German American, draft avoiders, and/or those whose ancestors have been in America for a long time?)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: These tax returns disclose all income and who pays them so the voter can tell if the governor or presidential candidate was later making decisions that would benefit the voter or increase the candidate’s income.)

GEEK WIRE
— Certifying online journalists: A bad idea whose time has come? – FRANK CATALANO (DIERSEN: I should write a book about my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes in Wheaton, in Glen Ellyn, in DuPage County, and in Illinois who have since 2000 hinted/implied/argued/shouted that I am NOT a journalist. They dismiss/belittle/badmouth/demonize/denigrate/condemn the fact a) that much of what GAO Analysts do is very similar to what journalists do, and that I worked for GAO for almost 18 years, the last 11 years of which at the GS-13 Step 1-10 levels, currently $96,403-$125,325 and b) that I have been the GOPUSA Illinois Editor since 2000. Instead, they stress a) that I do not have a degree in journalism, b) that no one pays me for what I do as your GOPUSA Illinois Editor, c) that GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails are free and do not contain any advertising or pictures, and d) that certain people who have lots of religious, government, political, and/or financial clout in Wheaton, in Glen Ellyn, in DuPage County, and in Illinois shout that I am NOT a journalist. Inconsistently, outrageously, many of the aforesaid at the same time hint/imply/argue/shout that I AM A JOURNALIST, AND THEREFORE, I SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO: a) be a Republican Precinct Committeeman, b) be a Milton Township Republican Central Committee (MTRCC), DuPage County Republican Central Committee (DCRCC), or Illinois Republican Party (IRP) officer, and c) attend MTRCC, DCRCC, or IRP events that are closed to journalists.)
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Part of the difficulty in any kind of certification is the notoriously independent nature of many attracted to the craft of journalism. Another is that even professional journalism organizations may be hard-pressed to agree on specifics of any credential, or be able to manage it when their membership ranks are in decline due to deep staffing cuts within traditional media organizations. “Professional journalists do, at nearly unanimous numbers, adhere to the professional standards of organizations like SPJ (Society of Professional Journalists ) and NPPA (National Press Photographers Association) and RTDNA (Radio Television Digital News Association), whether they have a certification that says so or not,” said Caley Cook, journalism lecturer at the University of Washington and an investigative and feature reporter. “I don’t think it hurts, really, to get a journalistic certification, but I don’t think an average news consumer is going to take one look at that and say, well I trust you now.” Those doubts are shared by SPJ Washington board member Daniel Person. “When you look at the sites/pages/accounts that are disseminating false information, there are all sorts of red flags suggesting that it’s not a reputable source: goofy URLs, lack of citation, bad grammar, etc.,” Person, a former Seattle Weekly editor, said. “Yet people seem willing to blow past these caution signs so long as the ‘news’ they are reporting confirms their worldview … If people are willing to share a story from SpicyAmericaNewz.Ru, what’s to say they’ll check the reporter’s credentials beforehand?” While there may be a place for some kind of voluntary certification for journalism newbies or freelancers who don’t belong to a professional media organization, Cook thinks a better solution lies beyond the outflow end of the story pipe. “When normal people truly don’t consider the source of their information or how it was gathered, we have a greater problem than certification of journalists could solve,” Cook said. Instead, she points to the oft-cited need for better media literacy, “what makes information reliable, how to question the source of information, media industrialization and consolidation, etc,” she said “I think you’d find this would have a far greater impact on the perception of ‘fake news’ than if you put that onus on the journalists.”)

Of course, the aforesaid attackers continue to do everything that they can to destroy me.)

https://www.smh.com.au/national/the-more-you-have-the-more-you-think-you-need-20180420-p4zatb.html

(FROM THE ARTICLE: In fact, the opposite is true – those on higher incomes felt they needed much more to alleviate their cost pressures than those on low incomes. Respondents who earned less than $35,000 a year (a little less than Australia’s full-time minimum wage) said they needed an extra $183 a week to alleviate cost of living pressures. But for those in the $75,000-100,000 income bracket that figure rose to $220 a week. And people taking home $100,000 or more a year required even more. That well-paid cohort said they needed $239 extra each week to ease the pressure, more than any other income group. But the responses to NAB’s “how much extra money do you need” question shows that for those on higher incomes the problem is a desire for a certain standard of living rather than a cost of living crisis.)

SOUTHEAST ILLINOIS NEWS
— Ballot hijinks lead Southern Illinois Republicans to challenge party leadership vote – W.J. Kennedy
https://seillinoisnews.com/stories/511395529-ballot-hijinks-lead-southern-illinois-republicans-to-challenge-party-leadership-vote
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Governor Rauner and his hand-picked state GOP Chairman Timothy Schneider are declaring victory in Southern Illinois. But did they actually win? State party officials claim Southern Illinois Republicans voted for a new state central committeeman yesterday, replacing longtime incumbent, former legislator Bob Winchester of Rosiclare with State Sen. Chapin Rose (R-Mahomet). Rose supports Schneider for another four year term; Winchester does not. But county chairmen say an examination of the vote count shows Rose didn’t win and that the fix was in. They’re promising to challenge what they say are manipulated results. “Rauner’s people showed their true colors yesterday,” a source told SE Illinois News. “They’re glad to cheat to win.” “This has made us even more bitter” In the balance is one of 18 spots on the State Republican Party Central Committee, which governs the party and exerts influence up and down the ballot. On Wednesday, GOP precinct committeemen voted to elect their county chairmen and the state central committee members, who will convene in May to choose a party chairman. Schneider recruited Rose to challenge Winchester, a Rauner critic representing Southern IIlinois’ 15 Congressional District, which includes 33 counties. Winchester supported State Rep. Jeanne Ives (R-Wheaton) in the March primary. “Many of us were already bitter and this has made us even more bitter,” Rhonda Belford, Hardin County GOP Chair, told SE Illinois News. “Bob Winchester stood tall for southern Illinois and all of Illinois, and this is how they treat him.” Belford said that some of her fellow county chairmen were offered financial rewards by Schneider. Others were threatened with retribution if they didn’t support Rose over Winchester. “They know not what they do,” she said. “This is all about money, but it’s the wrong kind of money, and in the end it’s probably not going to win them the race anyway.” Winner takes all? Mark Shaw, State Central Committeeman from Lake County’s 10th congressional district, said that he is concerned that some counties may have voted by acclamation, a procedural move that would have given Rose 100 percent of the vote when he may have received just over 50 percent. Shaw, who grew up in Mt. Carmel in Wabash County, said that voting by acclamation could be a violation of state law and some legal action may be in order. Results do show that Winchester received zero votes in nine of 33 counties, including four of the ten most populated, a result that Shaw and others said would be an impossibility. Several counties, sources tell SE Illinois News, didn’t even offer Winchester as a candidate for consideration. In Fayette County, home to Rauner Downstate Director Randy Pollard, Winchester was not presented as an option, sources say. “Pollard asked for a voice vote by acclamation for Chapin (Rose) and just moved on,” a source said. “He didn’t even mention Winchester was a candidate, much less the incumbent.” Rose also received zero votes in 13 counties carried 100 percent by Winchester. In all, 22 of 33 counties voted by acclamation, representing 63 percent of Rose’s vote and 59 percent of Winchester’s. County votes are weighted based on their respective turn-out in the March primary. “There are a lot of irregularities here,” Shaw said. “We want to see the raw data on a precinct level presented to the party.” The Shimkus Machine Aides to U.S. Rep. John Shimkus (R-Collinsville) actively recruited Rose to challenge Winchester, offering to help him replace Shimkus in Congress when the opportunity presents itself, sources say. Sources in Madison County, Shimkus’ home which carries the second-largest weighted vote in the district, say that when they, too, voted by acclamation for Winchester, a lawyer volunteer for Shimkus present protested and said acclamation votes were not legal. Shimkus’ District Director, Deb Detmers Fansler, then threatened Madison County precinct committee members by phone. Madison County submitted each candidate’s vote totals to the state GOP, sources say, along with the caveat that they voted by acclamation to deliver all of them to Winchester, who won 59 percent of the actual vote. State GOP officials didn’t include Madison County’s acclamation vote in their official totals; it would have meant Winchester won re-election by 644 votes. Chicago GOP Chairman Chris Cleveland said he would push to see the actual vote data as well. “This was a very contentious election, and it’s important that we have full transparency in the results,” Cleveland said. “That means complete, precinct-level reporting that we can verify.”)

https://chicago.suntimes.com/cannabis/pols-high-on-marijuana-legalization-hope-to-clear-the-air-on-4-20-pot-holiday/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: On Thursday, Healthy & Productive Illinois, a “marijuana policy group” that has argued against legalization, released its own study. The group argues it would cost the state $670.5 million a year to legalize pot, outweighing annual estimated tax revenue projections of about $566 million. They’re not the only ones not joining the party. Gov. Bruce Rauner told a Downstate TV station in December that it would be a “mistake” to legalize marijuana in Illinois. The Republican governor has, in the past, said he wants more studies on the “ramifications” in states that have legalized the drug. “I do not support legalizing marijuana. I think that’s a mistake. You know there’s a massive, human experiment going on in Colorado, and California, other places. We should see how that’s impacted lives and addiction and hurt young people before we make any decision about it here,” Rauner said in an interview on WSIL in Marion. “I do not support legalizing marijuana.” Still, Rauner instituted a medical marijuana pilot program that started doling out weed to patients in 2015. And Rauner last year signed a bill that decriminalized the possession of 10 grams or less of marijuana, making it a ticketable offense subject to fines of $100 to $200.)

The Democrats who ran IRS would NOT have failed/refused to promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, gotten rid of my mentor in 1975, or disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974. The Democrats who ran the Post Office would NOT have forced me resign in 1969 or disallowed my sick leave requests in 1969 and 1968.)

Have you filed complaints? I have. My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have always done more than just side with those who I have filed complaints against; they have helped those who I have filed complaints against destroy me. I should write a book about all the complaints, grievances, lawsuits, etc. that I have filed including when they were filed, who they were filed against, who I filed the complaints with, what I complained about, who represented me, who issued a ruling, what their ruling was, reasons they gave for their ruling, appeals that I filed, etc.) http://altondailynews.com/news/details.cfm?clientid=17&id=263495#.WtMe4IyKSM8
(FROM THE ARTICLE: A state representative says people complaining to inspectors general for Illinois state offices don’t have rights and that’s why her bill is so important, but the measure died in committee Friday. If someone feels wronged by a lawmaker, or by a state agency, or if an employee of a state operation feels they were harassed or discriminated against by a supervisor or fellow employee, they have the right to file a complaint with an inspector general who oversees their agency, or oversees lawmakers, to investigate. But State Rep. Jeanne Ives said that’s where their rights end. Ives filed House Bill 4840, a bill to give the complainants certain rights. “Right now, complainants have no rights,” Ives said. “They don’t even have the right to know that their complaint was in receipt. That’s why we need this legislation. We need it now.” The measure would have given complainants the right to get an explanation of the process, rules and procedures, to be notified the complaint was received, to be informed of decisions made and actions taken by the IG, to have an attorney, to get a summary, to make an impact statement, to attend a hearing and testify, to receive a report of the findings and recommendations, and to file a complaint with the IG for any alleged violation of the complainant’s rights that are laid out in the measure.)

Who represents the IRP’s base in your precinct, in your municipality, in your township/ward, in your county, and in Illinois? It should be your Republican Precinct Committeeman/Captain, the officers of your Republican township/ward party organization, the officers of your Republican county party organization, your representative on the IRP State Central Committee, and the IRP officers. My father did. My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have always used that against me. They have always painted my parents as being undeservedly filthy rich. In my outstanding father’s defense, he fought type 1 diabetes from age 14, he was the first of his ancestors to earn a high school diploma, he never attended college, he worked in the office of a nasty chemical plant, he almost always worked second jobs to pay the family’s bills, he did not buy a new car until he was 45 and it was a bottom of the line 2-door Chevy, and he died suddenly of heart failure in 1969 when he was 47 and I was 21. — Republicans’ grand hypocrisy on partisan hiring – Jennifer Rubin (DIERSEN: For different reasons, each and every one of my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have always a) promoted patronage, b) promoted political affiliation discrimination, and c) promoted the spoils system.) SEE: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spoils_system)
https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/right-turn/wp/2018/04/11/republicans-grand-hypocrisy-on-partisan-hiring/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: So here’s the question for Republicans: Should the FBI (or any government agency) or even any private employer be in the business of investigating employees’ political views and making employment decisions based upon which candidate or party they support? If that’s the rule, then we are going to need to sweep away a hundred years of civil service reform. “Our democracy depends on a well-functioning government and a well-functioning government depends upon a merit-based, nonpartisan career workforce,” explains Max Stier, head of the nonprofit, nonpartisan Partnership for Public Service. “It is useful to remember some history and recall that we had a president assassinated by a disgruntled spoils-system job seeker, which is what finally led to the professionalization of our government workforce over 100 years ago.” He adds, “This is particularly true for law enforcement.” Former director of the Office of Government Ethics Walter Shaub concurs. “Federal managers are prohibited from considering party affiliation when making personnel decisions for career employees,” he tells me. “This safeguard dates back 135 years and is based on the ethical principle that most of the work of government should be carried out by officials who are loyal to the Constitution, the laws and the American people instead of partisan political patrons.” He continues, “Targeting career officials based on party affiliation would jeopardize the integrity of the government’s operations and, in a case like this, open us up to corrupt political influence on the law enforcement apparatus of the state.” He observes, “The depressing irony is that, in pressing their groundless claims of political bias in the investigation, these members of Congress are literally advocating for political bias by demanding the Justice Department ensure that the president is investigated only by ardent supporters — a view they definitely have not held for his political rival.” As Cruz managed to highlight, the notion that an employer would probe employees’ political beliefs is a noxious one. The GOP should knock off its — what’s the phrase? — political witch hunt designed to ensure that Democrats do not populate sensitive law enforcement roles.)

CHICAGO TRIBUNE
— How is Gov. Rauner in trouble? Let me count the days – Eric Zorn (DIERSEN: What if Rauner promised to take no action that would be against the Illinois Republican Party (IRP) platform? What if Rauner promised that he would defend and advance the IRP platform?)
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opinion/zorn/ct-perspec-zorn-rauner-ives-disunity-0406-20180405-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The Democratic Governors Association sent another mass email Thursday morning, updating the length of the era of post-primary strife among Illinois Republicans. “Day 16,” began the subject header. That email marked 16 days in which there had been no unity breakfast or other meeting of the minds between the winner of the gubernatorial primary, incumbent Bruce Rauner, and his barely vanquished firebrand conservative opponent, state Rep. Jeanne Ives of Wheaton. Sixteen days in which the two have reportedly not spoken. Sixteen days in which Rauner has not given in to Ives’ demand that he take out an ad admitting that he lied about her during the campaign. Sixteen days in which Ives has declined to retract or soften her blistering attacks on Rauner from the campaign, attacks that included: “Nobody can trust Bruce Rauner, he’s lied to everybody about everything.” He “has failed the integrity test in many ways.” “He basically got nothing done.” And “What the hell is wrong with this governor?” The daily count-up emails from the Democrats are likely to end soon — they’re already starting to feel a little spammy — but DGA spokesman Sal Salustro directed me to a running tally of the days at Medium.com that will continue. “We’re going to keep a focus on it,” he said. “There is no path to victory for Rauner without Ives and her supporters.” Rauner seemed to acknowledge as much during his televised victory speech March 20 after the primary election. “For those of you around Illinois who wanted to send me a message, let me be clear,” he said. “I have heard you.” In fact, however, “I have heard you” was anything but clear under the circumstances. Literally, yes, obviously, Rauner had heard the outraged howls of social conservatives who’d voted for Ives in large part to express their displeasure at his signing a bill expanding abortion rights and his several other deviations from right-wing orthodoxy. “I’ve come to expect politicians to shade the truth, but what’s clear today is that Rauner’s promises were just flat-out lies,” said House GOP floor leader Peter Breen of Lombard after the governor signed the abortion bill. “In the face of overwhelming evidence of Rauner’s inability to competently administer the Illinois government, inability to stand up to Mike Madigan effectively and inability to keep his word and his commitments, I can no longer support him.” Those howls translated into votes — enough that the wealthy incumbent was able to squeak by a scrappy state legislator by fewer than 3 percentage points. But hearing is not heeding, as anyone who has ever deftly deployed the expression “I have heard you” in an argument knows well. What did Rauner mean? That he planned to adopt some of the views of those who had opposed him? Or that these views had registered with him, but he planned to ignore them? Both meanings are politically perilous. If Rauner lurches to the right to placate social conservatives, he risks alienating the moderate voters who provided his narrow margin of victory in 2014, when, as a first-time candidate, he proudly ran with “no social agenda.” And if he fails to apologize or correct course, a significant number of dispirited GOP base voters may well stay home on Election Day in November. So I put the question to Rauner spokesman Justin Giorgio: “What is the message that he heard? What is the message that he believes 48 percent of primary voters are trying to give him? And how will he act upon that message?” Giorgio’s reply: “The governor understands that we all have to work harder to find common ground on the issues we disagree on. He understands the need to engage all Illinoisans to continue making progress on the issues that unite us: cutting taxes, creating jobs and rooting out corruption.” Translation: Pound sand, wing nuts. When it comes down to a choice between me and Democratic nominee J.B. Pritzker, you’ll discover your inner Peter Breen. Rep. Breen, who had been all in for Ives, announced after the primary that “Gov. Rauner stated in the media that he’s heard the message, and I believe he has. (He) is our party’s nominee, and I support him 100 percent.” I wanted to know what message Breen believes Rauner heard, but he did not respond to requests for comment. Sure, primaries are bruising, the rhetoric is heated and pragmatism generally ends up superseding principle when it comes time to vote. Even Ives has said she’ll vote for Rauner (though she’s said her husband will not). Unity breakfasts, like the gathering the Democratic gubernatorial rivals had the Saturday morning after the March 20 primary, are polite agreements to ignore the preceding ugliness and pretend the ideological differences are minor. But that rhetorical salve is important. Parties with open, infected wounds have a hard time getting healthy by the time voters go to the polls. Every day that goes by with Rauner refusing to apologize and Ives refusing to offer a single nice word about him is a day for the Democrats to celebrate. Seventeen days on Friday. And counting.)

The first thing we must do is not let the Illinois House and Senate override the Governor’s veto of HB1657. Please contact you legislators immediately. This is a gun ban movement, pure and simple. (FROM THE ARTICLE: In election season, some Illinois politicians are looking for ways to promise more revenue without inciting the rage of voters, who just saw the largest permanent income tax hike in state history last summer. Enter the progressive income tax. Instead of addressing the things that make state and local governments cost so much, Illinois can solve all its problems by “making the rich pay their fair share,” supporters of a progressive tax argue. This idea has become a key pillar of J.B. Pritzker’s gubernatorial campaign after swirling around the Statehouse air for the past decade or so.)

The filing deadline was March 26th. Dave Diersen posted a list of contested races. I’ve added incumbent (i) designations… . . . That’s a lot of challenges. I asked Dan Proft if he was behind any of these candidates in an attempt to take over the party. Chris Cleveland was a big Jeanne Ives supporter, for example, as was David Smith, Patrick Harlan and others on that list. Proft’s texted response… Think you’ve got it reversed. It reads to me as if Rauner and his big government apparatchiks are working to continue their purge of conservatives from the party per their backing candidates against McGlasson, Floreth and Winchester. Message to Ives and her supporters: leave the party. (FROM THE ARTICLE: The leader of the board that oversees the DuPage Election Commission offered to resign after the blunder that delayed the release of election results for hours during last month’s primary. Cathy Ficker Terrill, chairwoman of the election commission board, said Wednesday a vendor “made a terrible mistake” when it provided faulty ballot-like cards needed to close DuPage’s optical scan voting machines. . .While the commission is considering possible legal action against the vendor, Ficker Terrill said she takes personal responsibility for what happened. “The election commission failed the public,” Ficker Terrill said. “I take ownership of that. I willingly accept the blame for the error.” She said she offered her resignation to the man who appointed her to the three-person panel, county board Chairman Dan Cronin. So far, Cronin hasn’t responded. Ficker Terrill also read a formal apology during an election commission meeting on Tuesday.)
