Who are the officers of the Republican township parties in the townships in which Jones gathered petition signatures? Do the Republican Precinct Committeemen/Captains in those townships keep the officers of their Republican township parties posted on what is going on in their precincts? I have been gathering petition signatures in my DuPage County Milton Township Precinct 9 in Wheaton since 1999 for myself and for all the Republican candidates who seek to be on Republican primary ballots in my precinct. I would hope that if a Jones-type candidate sought petition signatures from Republicans in my precinct, they would let me know. I would certainly let the Milton Township Republican Central Committee officers know.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: On an unusually warm afternoon last fall, residents in Bridgeview opened their doors to a stranger. Arthur Jones was going house to house in the southwest suburb on Oct. 5, rounding up signatures for his primary election petition for Congress. Voters signed it after Jones told them he was hoping to run as a Republican against Democrat Rep. Dan Lipinski in the 3rd Congressional District. What Jones didn’t say is that he’s an avowed anti-Semite, Holocaust denier and the former leader of the New American Nazi Party. “He seemed like a nice guy,” said Michal Bodyziak, whose wife, Anna, signed her name to the petition. Now Jones is the sole GOP candidate in the 3rd District on the primary ballot March 20, which means he is on track to be the Republican Party nominee in the November general election. On a 10-degree evening last week, residents in Bridgeview opened their doors once again to tell a Chicago Sun-Times reporter how Jones went about collecting some of the 603 signatures he needed. Of the six people who agreed to be interviewed, none had heard of Jones until he rang their doorbells. Jones, 70, of Lyons, is now the subject of national and international news after the Sun-Times reported on Feb. 4 that the he was poised to clinch the nomination. In an interview with the Sun-Times, Jones has said he’s in charge of an organization called the American First Committee, whose membership is limited to “any white American citizen of European, non-Jewish descent.” But while he was collecting signatures, Jones didn’t mention any of that. “He just told us he was all about the people,” Michal Bodyziak said. Bodyziak said he and his wife are immigrants from Poland. Jones didn’t say that he denies there was a Holocaust in which 6 million Jews died, many of them in Poland. “No, he said none of that,” Anna Bodyziak said. According to her husband, Jones said he “wanted to help the state make everything better, lower taxes and that. Yes, it was very positive.” When a reporter showed the couple video snippets of Jones’ controversial statements on Jews, they winced. They said they could never support Jones for Congress after seeing that. A neighbor down the block also gave Jones his signature. The man said he’d never heard of Jones, either, but he agreed to sign the petition “because I want people to run for office. If I knew he stood for any of that, I wouldn’t have signed.” About a mile away, Medardo Elizalde was sitting on his couch when his son opened the door to a reporter. The son said his father mostly speaks Spanish and translated for him. He asked his dad if he remembered signing Jones’ petition. Jones had said people wanted to keep him off the ballot, Elizalde recalled. Elizalde said he gave his signature so Jones would go away. Jones managed to collect 834 signatures in Bedford Park, Bridgeview, Chicago Ridge, Countryside, Hickory Hills, Homer Glen, Justice, La Grange, Oak Lawn, Orland Park, Palos Hills, Stickney, Summit and Worth — but none in Chicago. “I waited on the last day, Dec. 4, to file my signatures. I turned them in, fully expecting for an objection or that there would be a candidate that they’re putting up against me,” he has told the Sun-Times. Though GOP officials in his own party have now repudiated Jones and his candidacy, he still thinks he’s got a shot even though the district is overwhelmingly Democratic. Lipinski, of Western Springs, faces Marie Newman, of LaGrange, in the Democratic primary. Said Jones, “Listen, I don’t go to all this damn trouble if I didn’t believe I had a chance to win.”)

(THE REPORT: Last night’s fundraiser was a great success with just over 80 people in attendance and the contributions still coming in. Lieutenant Governor Evelyn Sanguinetti discussed how devastating it would be for Illinois with J.B. Pritzker as Governor, John Cullerton as the Senate President, and Mike Madigan as the House Majority leader. Erika Harold highlighted the state of corruption that exist in Springfield and made the case for how important it is to have a real Attorney General in office. Both speakers talked about how important it is to have elected leaders like Kevin Wiley in officer. Kevin has been serving us locally as a Fire District Board Trustee and now as you DuPage County Board Member. He has also been serving us for over 34-years in the United States Army and is now a Colonel in the 9th Mission Support Command in the Pacific. His family has chosen to serve as well. His daughter now sits on the Wheaton Chamber of Commerce, his eldest son is serving with the 82nd Airborne, and his youngest son is an ROTC cadet at Wheaton College. Standing by their side making it all possible is Laura Wiley. Bob Larsen and Jim Zay talked about the County Boards accomplishments and emphasized how we have kept the property tax levy flat. Then to wrap the night up, Kevin Wiley thanked all in attendance and shared a quote from the Super Bowl Champions Head Coach Doug Pederson. “An individual can make a difference, a team can make a miracle”. Hughes also holds positions at the Liberty Justice Center and Illinois Policy Institute. In 2014, Think Freely Media reported paying $64,000 to Dan Proft as a consultant. Proft, another founder of the Illinois Opportunity Project, was a senior fellow at the institute until taking a leave to focus on political work, which includes running the political action committee Liberty Principles. During 2015 and 2016, Think Freely also paid $211,500 to Starfish Consulting LLC, which lists Proft as its president in its state registration . . .In 2013, Tillman held leadership positions at all five nonprofits, which reported to the IRS that he worked a total of 51 hours a week for $485,411 in total pay. The following year, he reported working 75 hours a week at the organizations, though his pay fell to $398,414. The reported numbers show that Tillman collected pay that was often well above how comparable organizations in other states compensated their leaders. His reported compensation dropped again in 2015, to $366,631. But that still exceeded the pay of top executives at other, similar organizations, including the Michigan-based Mackinac Center and the Texas Public Policy Foundation, tax records show. Those pay figures don’t include money that Tillman received from Crowdskout or other for-profit entities. Tillman said his pay was fair. “We compare my compensation to a variety of organizations of similar size, impact and growth, state-based and national, including ProPublica,” Tillman wrote.)

Among them, in Macoupin County, is CHRISTOPHER HICKS. Hicks was removed from the ballot as a GOP candidate in the 48th Senate District for lack of adequate signatures. He was also questioned by police after a visit to State Rep. AVERY BOURNE’s office in Litchfield, where he told an aide there would be “political blood and vengeance” if the representative did not co-sponsor a bill. No charges resulted, and Hicks said his comment was political and not a threat. Meanwhile, in Sangamon County, the Ives contact list includes STEVEN WESTERFIELD. Westerfield also was removed from the ballot for the 99th House District GOP race. He and Hicks are both running as write-in candidates in the March 20 primary. Also listed for Ives in Sangamon County is LIZ EILERS BRON, whose political involvement has included being 2012 state director for the HERMAN CAIN presidential campaign; and ARI SHROYER, a government affairs associate with the Illinois Policy Institute. In Lake County, the campaign contact is DENISE ROTHEIMER, who was recently in the news as she accused state Sen. IRA SILVERSTEIN, D-Chicago, of harassment. The legislative inspector general said Silverstein made inappropriate comments to her, but did not sexually harass her. “I am happy to help Ives any way I can,” Rotheimer said. Bourne, by the way, was among lawmakers who took to social media to criticize the planned speaker for an Ives fundraiser in McHenry County last week. Ives ended up canceling a speech by BILL WHITTLE, who had, among other things, called the Democratic Party “the largest slaveholder in the history of the world,” and, the Chicago Tribune reported, has said blacks are inferior to whites. “Whittle’s racially-charged comments are embarrassing and reprehensible,” Bourne had tweeted. “Rep.
