http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/success/inc/tca-my-boss-seems-to-be-trying-to-push-me-out-20170403-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: I recently hosted a party at my house and invited some co-workers. My boss overheard us talking and I felt bad, so I invited her to come over, too. When she arrived, she was taken aback by my house. My wife and I inherited some money and have invested wisely. Thus, we are pretty financially successful. Since the event, she has made comments daily at work about my wealth and how I don’t need my job. It’s embarrassing and annoying. She also excluded me from a new project meeting. When I asked why, she said she was putting some other people on it to gain experience. I’m starting to think she is jealous and trying to push me out. I like this job and my co-workers. It’s true, I don’t need this job, but I like working. Why is she acting like this? It’s as though I broke an unwritten rule.)
— HARDCOPY ARTICLE TITLE: FBI mulls easing entry to draw top talent – Eric Tucker  (DIERSEN: To help it hire, retain, and promote Democrats, minorities, females, and young people, all during the almost 30 years that I worked for the federal government (1966-1969 and 1971-1997), the federal government lowered its hiring, retention, and promotion standards. GAO hired me in 1980 because it could not find a qualified Democrat, minority, female, younger person, or veteran who would take the job.  IRS hired me in 1971 because it could not find a qualified Democrat, minority, female, or veteran who would take the job.  The Post Office hired me in 1966 because it could not find a qualified Democrat, minority, female, or veteran who would take the job.)

— Project competence and confidence  Women inadvertently undermine their leadership by not doing both. – Minda Zetlin  (DIERSEN: In 1997, when I was 49 years old, my Democrat GAO superiors forced my GS-15 (currently $131,508-$161,900) female supervisor to take the lead in forcing me to take their early retirement “offer.” She reluctantly did what they forced her to do. They stressed to her a) that since 1988, I had been an active member in a class action lawsuit that charged GAO with reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation, b) that I had always complained about patronage, political affiliation discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation, c) that I had not helped GAO get rid of its employees who were Republican, White, male, older, and/or non-veteran, d) that I had not made GS-13 (currently $94,610) by age 25, GS-14 (currently $111,801) by age 30, GS-15 (currently $131,508) by age 35, or Senior Executive Service (currently $161,900) by age 40, e) that she was younger than me, f) that she was a female and that I was a male, g) that she Jewish and I was Missouri Synod Lutheran, h) that she was 100% Russian-American and that I was 100% German American, I) that my ancestor had been in America much longer than her ancestors, J) that she had a degree from an Ivy League university and that I did not, k) that she was a liberal Democrat and that I was a conservative Republican, l) that my wife and I could “afford” to lose in today’s dollars $72,135/year income ($122,991 salary minus $50,856 pension), and m) that my subordinates who were Democrat, minority, female, and/or younger than me talked and acted like they would leave GAO if GAO did not get rid of me.)

http://www.dailyherald.com/article/20170410/news/170419973/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: DuPage County Democrats Chairman Bob Peickert says he expects more than 800 attendees at the party’s annual gala April 23 in Lombard, twice the usual number. The event will feature Democratic National Committee Deputy Chair Keith Ellison and Illinois gubernatorial candidates Chris Kennedy of Kenilworth, Ameya Pawar of Chicago and J.B. Pritzker of Chicago, along with more than two dozen other state and congressional officials. Peickert, of Elmhurst, sees it as one of several signs the formerly rock-ribbed Republican territory is changing. In January, the county party held an informal meeting for local voters and 550 people showed up — 400 of them new to the organization. In November, Hillary Clinton won the county by 14 points over President Donald Trump. Gala tickets are at dupagedemocratsgala.com.)
— Big money in Bolingbrook – Kerry Lester
http://www.dailyherald.com/article/20170410/news/170419973/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Major political donors swept in to help candidates in the Bolingbrook mayor’s race in the final weeks of the campaign, filings with the Illinois State Board of Elections show. Republican businessman Ron Gidwitz’ super PAC, the Economic Freedom Alliance, spent more than $36,512 to support 31-year Bolingbrook Mayor Roger Claar. He also spent more than $61,024 opposing challenger Jackie Traynere’s campaign. Traynere got some help from big name Democrats, including Democratic candidate Pritzker, who wrote her a $2,500 check. AFSME gave her campaign $5,000 and the American Federation of Teachers contributed $1,500. Claar had hosted a Trump fundraiser, angering some and sparking the high-profile battle.)

https://patch.com/illinois/downersgrove/rauner-s-anti-hate-crime-bill-endorsed-downers-grove-representative
(FROM THE ARTICLE: State Representative David S. Olsen (R, Downers Grove) for Bruce Rauner’s anti-hate crime bill recently filed in Springfield. The anti-hate crime bill, HB 2390, aims to change sentencing for those who commit hate crimes in Illinois. Rauner announced his plans for the new hate crime legislation in early March in response to the anti-Semitic crimes that have increased both locally and nationally. In a March 8 press release, he said, “We cannot stay silent on hate. We cannot stay silent when families in our community are in danger. The promise of ‘Never Again’ requires us to take action.” Rep. Olsen recently echoed those words in a statement of his own, “Those who would attack others, verbally or physically, based on their race, color, creed, religion or other perceived classification, need to know their behavior will not be tolerated and that the consequences for such actions will be severe.”)

SPRINGFIELD STARTE JOURNAL REGISTER
— Will ‘Real GOP of Illinois’ stand up? Unlikely – Bernard Schoenburg  (DIERSEN: According to this article, the anonymous website calls itself a “free speech zone” and says “Republicans are afraid to criticize (Rauner) because of the money he can spend attacking people.”  My critics/opponents, their operatives, their dupes read all my GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails very closely.  They look for anything in the emails that they can use against me.  It is called opposition research.  They immediately bring to the attention of the following people anything in the emails that is critical of them: Congressmen Bost, Davis, Hultgren, Kinzinger, LaHood, Roskam, Shimkus; Governor Rauner; Lt. Governor Sanguinetti; Radogno, Connelly, Nybo, and the rest of the Republican State Senators; Durkin, Ives, Breen, and the rest of the Republican State Representatives; DuPage County elected officials including Berlin, Kachiroubas, Grogan, Cronin, Zaruba, Hinds, Jorgensen, Bucholz, Henry, Ruscitti, Cantore, Larsen, Zay, Wiley, Eckhoff, Grant, Elliott, Murphy, and Whelan; Township elected officials including Heidorn, Hinkle, LeVan, Muehlfelt, Falbo, Nathwani, Molitor, and Keller; Wheaton elected officials including Gresk, Suess, Fitch, Scalzo, Rutledge, and Saline; Illinois Republican Party leaders including Schneider, DeMonte, Porter, Colgan, Dorgan, Higgins, Claar, and Bond; DuPage County Republican Party leaders including Krajewski, Hinds, Kachiroubas, Murphy, Keller, Minor, Marchese, Schultz, Czernek, Fisher, Cuzzone, Durante, Grogan; and Milton Township Republican leaders Keller, LeVan, Austin, and Nathwani.  My critic/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes hint/imply/argue/shout that if I was a “good Republican,” I would not include in GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails links to any articles that are critical of the aforesaid people; that if I was a “good Republican,” I would only include links in GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails that glorify and praise the aforesaid people.)
http://www.sj-r.com/opinion/20170408/bernard-schoenburg-will-real-gop-of-illinois-stand-up-unlikely
(FROM THE ARTICLE: A mystery website, realgopillinois.com, is billing itself as “the official news site for real Republicans.” But welcome to campaign season, where things are not always as they seem. The site is professional-looking, with items presented as news stories and a solicitation for tips. AARON DeGROOT, a spokesman for the state GOP, said the site has no connection to the party and he has “no idea who these folks are.” Its creators aren’t making it easy to find out, either. A computer expert at my newspaper tells me there’s no easy way to track the origin of the site because its domain was registered anonymously. An address listed at the bottom of the group’s email is in Champaign, but turned out to be a UPS store. An employee there said they do rent mailboxes. The group name doesn’t turn up in the Illinois State Board of Elections, but it appears to have started a Facebook page recently. I emailed to find out more. The response came with no name attached. “We are just a group of everyday citizens who are upset with the Democrat Party and how they’ve ruined this state,” the response stated. “We are also upset with the Illinois GOP and Gov. (BRUCE) RAUNER. We all voted for Bruce Rauner in 2014 even though some of us were very unsure about him because of his history. Two years in, we’re disappointed in Gov. Rauner and the Illinois GOP. … With the debt mounting, taxpayers will probably be on the hook for even more and the politicians won’t care. … Gov. Rauner spends millions making sure his own people win GOP primaries and destroying other Republican candidates just because he can. Isn’t that what (House Speaker MICHAEL) MADIGAN does?”  The response also called the website a “free speech zone” and said “Republicans are afraid to criticize (Rauner) because of the money he can spend attacking people. Illinois won’t survive Mike Madigan or Bruce Rauner if we don’t stand up and speak out (about) what both political parties and their henchmen are doing now.” The site doesn’t just go after Rauner — it also has taken a swipe at CORY JOBE, the state tourism director, for contributing $1,000 to new Springfield City Council member KRISTIN DiCENSO, a Democrat, and even at the late JUDY BAAR TOPINKA, “who routinely headlined gay marriage rallies with the low-life likes of Democrats Sen. DICK DURBIN, Attorney General LISA MADIGAN, and former Gov. PAT QUINN.” STEVE BROWN, spokesman for Mike Madigan, who is also chairman of the Democratic Party of Illinois, said Friday he had never heard of the site. “You’re the first to mention it,” he said.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Woodrow Wilson imposed and incited extraordinary repressions: “There are citizens of the United States … born under other flags … who have poured the poison of disloyalty into the very arteries of our national life. … Such creatures of passion, disloyalty and anarchy must be crushed out. … They are infinitely malignant, and the hand of our power should close over them.” His Committee on Public Information churned out domestic propaganda instructing the public how to detect pro-German sympathies. A 22-year-old Justice Department official named J. Edgar Hoover administered a program that photographed, fingerprinted and interrogated 500,000 suspects. Local newspapers published the names of people who were not buying war bonds or otherwise supporting the war. People were fired or ostracized for insufficient enthusiasm. The Espionage Act of 1917 made it a crime to “collect, record, publish or communicate” information useful to the enemy. In Illinois, Robert Prager, a German-American coal miner suspected of spying, was stripped, marched through the streets and hanged. The Washington Post deplored such “excesses” but applauded the “healthful and wholesome awakening in the interior part of the country.” Josef Hofer and his two brothers were South Dakota Hutterites whose faith forbade any involvement in war, including wearing a military uniform. They were arrested in March 1918, and a week after the armistice they were sent to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Arriving at the military prison around midnight, they stood naked for hours in a 17-degree November night. Then they were suspended naked from the bars of their cells, their feet barely touching the ground, refusing to wear the uniforms left in their cells. Fed only bread and water, after two weeks David Hofer was allowed to telegraph Josef’s wife, telling her that her husband was dying. He died the morning after she arrived. Prison guards mocked his corpse by dressing it in a uniform. The U.S. military was the world’s 17th largest in April 1917, smaller (less than 250,000) than Romania’s, and smaller than Britain’s casualties in one battle. America’s military became a melting pot for a nation in which one-third of the population had been born abroad or whose parents had been. Forty-three languages were spoken in one Army division raised in New York. One group was ineligible for melting: Printed at the bottom of draft registration cards were these words: “If person is of African descent, tear off this corner.”)

CHICAGO TRIBUNE
— Google expands fact checking in news searches – AP  (DIERSEN: What about slant-check?  Virtually everything on the internet is slanted to promote the Democrat (D) Party platform, the Libertarian (L) Party platform, the Green (G) platform, or the Republican (R) Party platform. If I had more time, I would designate all articles linked in GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails as being D, L, G, and/or R.)
http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/sns-bc-us-tec–google-news-fact-check-20170407-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Google will expand the use of “fact check” tags in its search results — the tech industry’s latest effort to combat false and misleading news stories. People who search for a topic in Google’s main search engine or the Google News section will see a conclusion such as “mostly true” or “false” next to stories that have been fact checked. Google has been working with more than 100 news organizations and fact-checking groups , including The Associated Press, the BBC and NPR. Their conclusions will appear in search results as long as they meet certain formatting criteria for automation. Google said only a few of those organizations, including PolitiFact and Snopes.com, have already met those requirements; The Washington Post also says it complies. Google said it expects the ranks of compliant organizations to grow following Friday’s announcement. Not all news stories will be fact checked. Multiple organizations may reach different conclusions; Google will show those separately. Still unanswered is whether these fact-check analyses will sway people who are already prone to believe false reports because they confirm preconceived notions. Glenn Kessler, who writes “The Fact Checker” column at The Washington Post, said in an email that Google’s efforts should at least “make it easier for people around the world to obtain information that counters the spin by politicians and political advocacy groups, as well as purveyors of ‘fake news.'” He added that “over time, I expect that people increasingly will want to read a fact-check on a controversial issue or statement, even if the report conflicts with their political leanings.” Google started offering fact check tags in the U.S. and the U.K. in October and expanded the program to a handful of other countries in the subsequent months. Now the program is open to the rest of the world and to all languages. False news and misinformation, often masquerading as trustworthy news that spreads on social media, has gained attention since the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Google’s announcement comes a day after Facebook launched a resource to help users spot false news and misleading information that spreads on its service. The resource is basically a notification that pops up for a few days. Clicking on it takes people to tips and other information on how to spot false news and what to do about it.)

ALTON DAILY NEWS
— Revenue Estimate Not Expected This Year – Greg Bishop  (DIERSEN: What revenue estimates for 2017 do the following have: your Republican township/ward party organization, your Republican county party organization, and the Illinois Republican Party? On what do the aforesaid organizations plan to spend that money?)
http://altondailynews.com/news/details.cfm?clientid=17&id=241023#.WOi5WYjyuM8
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Republican state Rep. Keith Wheeler disagreed and said a revenue estimate is the “first step” to budgeting. “You can always amend a revenue estimate, so if we see changes in revenue from whatever stream it may come, or not, we can adjust it as we go along. It’s happened in the past. I checked the records,” Wheeler said. “It’s something we should start with. It’s an easy first step and it shows the taxpayers we actually care about how we spend their money.” Republican state Rep. Avery Bourne said to not have some kind of plan is irresponsible. “Just like you would in your household if you’re expecting to bring in a certain amount, you budget for that. If that changes, you can change your plan but to say that it’s uncertain at the beginning and so we just shouldn’t plan for it is exactly what we should expect out of this General Assembly maybe, but not the right way to do it.” The Illinois state constitution says in Article VIII, Section 2, paragraph (b) the General Assembly “by law shall make appropriations for all expenditures of public funds by the State. Appropriations for a fiscal year shall not exceed funds estimated by the General Assembly to be available during that year.” A state government forecasting group estimates Illinois will bring in just over $31 billion for the coming fiscal year that starts July 1.)

http://abc7chicago.com/news/trump-tower-among-chicagos-most-desirable-refugee-employers/1840201/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Refugees displaced by war, terrorism or persecution are moving to Chicago. One of the most desirable places for them to work? Trump Tower. Officially known as the Trump International Hotel and Tower, the 98-story skyscraper on Chicago’s riverfront has become so popular with refugees because they are paid up to $18.00 per hour for entry-level jobs. That’s according to a Chicago-based organization that helps refugees who are “fleeing war, terror and persecution.” Illinois is currently ranked 10th nationally in the number of refugees resettled, with 3,125 permitted residency here in 2016. Besides the Trump Tower, refugee aid officials told the I-Team that other Chicago-area employers popular with refugees are Tyson Foods, Five Star Laundry, Rivers Casino, Lettuce Entertain You and Eli’s Cheesecake. Since September 2015 the United States has admitted more than 117,000 refugees, including more than 1,000 since Trump became president on January 20. But the inflow took a hit under a Trump executive order signed in January that banned citizens from seven Muslim-majority nations from entering the U.S. for 90 days. Last year according to state department data Muslims accounted for nearly half of all refugee admissions into the country. The Trump executive order will reduce the number of refugees annually admitted into the U.S. from 110,000 to a mere 50,000 people-the lowest ceiling in 35 years. It is currently estimated that more than 23 million refugees-half of them children-are fleeing war and repression around the world. Officials at the Trump Tower in Chicago have not responded to messages left by the I-Team. Eli’s Cheesecake officials said they currently employ 10 refugees and many other new immigrants. Others couldn’t put a number on their refugee work force.)

My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have always downplayed, dismissed, and belittled the fact that I passed the CPA examination on my first attempt in 1979 when I was 30 years old.  They also downplay, dismiss, and belittle the fact that I became a licensed CPA in 1981, that I passed the Certified Internal Auditor examination on my first attempt in 1981, and that I became a Certified Fraud Examiner in 1990, a Certified Government Financial Manager in 1994, a Certified Financial Services Auditor in 1996, and a Forensic Accountant in 1997. They also downplay, dismiss, and belittle the fact that I earned a bachelor’s degree in management from NIU in 1970, an MBA from Loyola in 1976, a master’s degree in accounting from DePaul in 1980, and a master’s degree in financial markets and trading from IIT in 1997.  They also downplay, dismiss, and belittle the fact that I worked for GAO 1980-1997, the last 11 years of which at the GS-13 Step 1-10 levels, currently $94,610-$122,991 and that I worked for IRS 1971-1980, the last 5 1/2 years of which at the GS-12 Step 1-5 levels, currently $79,563-$90,173.)
https://www.dallasnews.com/news/politics/2017/04/06/texas-rep-mike-conaway-take-house-probe-russian-meddling
(FROM THE ARTICLE: “It is responsibility I take with the utmost seriousness. My profession as a CPA and auditor has taught me to be objective and methodical, and that is how I intend to help lead this investigation,” Conaway said in a written statement expressing confidence that he can conduct an “effective, bipartisan investigation” with the panel’s top Democrat, Rep. Adam Schiff of California – an outspoken critic of Nunes in recent weeks. Rep. Andre Carson, a Democrat on the Intelligence panel, called Conaway “solid.” Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson, a Dallas Democrat, said she has “great respect for Conaway so I hope he’ll do a great job. Texas Republicans had nothing but praise. “He’s smart, he’s got great integrity, he’s honest. He’ll do a great job,” said Arlington Rep. Joe Barton, a Republican. He refrained from weighing in on Nunes’ decision to step down but said, “Conaway will do it right.” Conaway is one of the few CPAs in Congress. Before his election in 2004, one of his clients was the oil firm owned by future president George W. Bush. When House Republicans needed to clean up a fund-raising scandal in 2008, they turned to Conaway. Corpus Christi Rep. Blake Farenthold, a Republican, called him “immensely qualified” and an “honorable human being….I can’t think of anybody better to do it.” Austin Rep. Roger Williams, a Republican, called him a friend who will do a “great job.”)

FED SMITH
— New Administrative Leave Categories Established By Congress – Wayne Coleman  (DIERSEN: Constructively, my Democrat GAO superiors have had me on reduced pay administrative leave since September 30, 1997.  So far, in today’s dollars, that has cost me $1,406,808 ($10,250/mo. salary minus $4,238 pension times 234 months equals $1,406,808).)
https://www.fedsmith.com/2017/04/05/new-administrative-leave-categories-established-congress/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The second addition to Chapter 63 establishes investigative leave and notice leave by adding Section 6329b. The investigative leave is for use when an employee is under investigation. The notice leave is for use when an employee has been placed on notice of an impending adverse action. These two forms can be used independently or notice leave can follow a period of investigative leave if an adverse action is proposed at the conclusion of an investigation. To use these forms of leave, the agency must determine that the employee’s continued presence may: Pose a threat to the employee or others; Result in the destruction of evidence relevant to an investigation; Result in loss of or damage to Government property; or Otherwise jeopardize legitimate Government interests. The agency also must consider the following alternatives before using either investigative leave or notice leave: Assigning the employee to duties in which the employee no longer poses a threat described in the preceding paragraph; Allowing the employee to take another form of leave for which the employee is eligible, e.g., annual leave; Carrying the employee in absence without leave status (AWOL) if the employee is absent from duty without approved leave; and Curtailing the notice period for an employee subject to one if there is reasonable cause to believe the employee has committed a crime for which a sentence of imprisonment may be imposed; and find that none of these options is appropriate. Generally, investigative leave may be granted for a period of 30 days, but extensions for up to 90 days are possible when approved by the agency’s Chief Human Capital Officer or his designee. Extensions, in 30 day increments, beyond the 90 day total are possible if the agency submits a report to the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs of the Senate and the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform of the House of Representatives, along with any other committees of jurisdiction. Notice leave will be granted only for the duration of the prescribed notice period. Here, too, OPM will issue regulations to guide agencies in utilizing investigative and notice leave by the September date mentioned above.)
