— CASTEN RESPONDS (DIERSEN: Will Casten call for Roskam to increase the $10,000 SALT cap to $20,000 for married filing jointly? Government should encourage marriage and homeownership.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Sean Casten, Democratic nominee for Congress challenging incumbent Peter Roskam in the 6th District, refuses to define Roskam’s claims this week involving a property tax deduction as “a success.” Roskam’s office received word from the U.S. Treasury Department that suggested Illinois taxpayer who filed before Jan. 1 can deduct their property taxes. Casten called a foul, asking, “Does Roskam think we’re going to forget that he was largely responsible for hitting us with this unfair tax hike in the first place?” He writes: “Hard-working homeowners throughout our district were counting on that property tax deduction, and Roskam sold them out in favor of the wealthy special interests that fund his campaign. Instead of writing self-serving letters to the Treasury Department, Roskam should try doing the job he was elected to do — working on behalf of the people who live right here in the 6th District.”)
— ROSKAM HITS BACK
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Also on Thursday, Roskam released a statement that blasted Casten for not saying whether he agrees or not with a tax plan proposed by Congressional Democrats if they win the majority in the midterm elections. Democrats are proposing a repeal of major pieces of President Trump’s tax reform legislation. Their plan would raise taxes on corporations and high-income households in order to pay for a $1 trillion infrastructure package. “The thousands of families who have received meaningful tax relief this year deserve to know whether Sean Casten fully supports his party’s efforts to raise tax rates and fully reinstate the Alternative Minimum Tax,” said Roskam for Congress spokesman Veronica Vera. “Now that his party has committed to increasing taxes on families and small businesses, Sean Casten has a responsibility to Sixth District voters to be honest about his intentions to raise their taxes.”)

— Ingraham apologizes; Hogg says not enough (DIERSEN: What applications have you made that were rejected? After 1974, my Democrat IRS superiors rejected all my applications for GS-13 positions. Between 1980 and 1985 and after 1988, my Democrat GAO superiors rejected all my applications to be assigned to audits of IRS. After 1986, my Democrat GAO superiors rejected all my applications for GS-14 positions.)
http://www.gopusa.com/?p=42614
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The backlash began earlier in the week, when Ingraham made fun of Hogg, who has been a vocal activist after the Feb. 14 shooting that claimed 17 lives, for being rejected from four universities in the University of California school system. She tweeted a story by the Daily Wire addressing the rejections, adding on Twitter, “David Hogg Rejected By Four Colleges To Which He Applied and whines about it. (Dinged by UCLA with a 4.1 GPA…totally predictable given acceptance rates.)” Hogg, who has a 4.2 GPA, was accepted by Florida Atlantic University, Cal Poly and Cal State San Marcos. The Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School senior was in the school when shooter Nikolas Cruz opened fire, killing 14 students and three faculty members.)

IMMIGRATION REFORM
— California Sheriff Rejects “Sanctuary” Law, Makes Information on Illegals Public – JOE GOMEZ (DIERSEN: Needless-to-say, DuPage County Sheriff John Zaruba should do this immediately. Federal law trumps state law.)
https://immigrationreform.com/2018/03/27/california-sheriff-rejects-sanctuary-law-makes-information-illegals-public/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The Orange County Sheriff’s Department has announced that it will begin publishing a list of criminal aliens who are inmates in the county jail, as part of its existing “Who’s in Jail,” online database. The information made public will also include when criminal aliens are released from jail, a move that comes in direct retaliation to the state’s “sanctuary” laws which prohibit cooperation between police and federal immigration officials. “This is in response to SB-54 limiting our ability to communicate with federal authorities and our concern that criminals are being released to the street when there’s another avenue to safeguard the community by handing them over (to ICE for potential deportation),” Orange County Undersheriff Don Barnes said. California’s “sanctuary law” has recently encountered resistance to this dangerous policy from multiple communities in California. Most notably, the City Council in Los Alamitos voted last week on an ordinance to exempt the city from state law over concerns that it is unconstitutional. The Yorba Linda City Council agreed to file an amicus brief to a lawsuit filed by the Department of Justice against California. The Orange County Board of Supervisors are also expected to consider a range of possible actions against the state law as well. Open borders groups like the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) have been actively working to prevent cities in California from opposing the states “sanctuary” laws.)

POLITICO
— Federal workers spill on life in Trump’s Washington From marital strife to high anxiety, civil servants reveal how the Trump administration has changed agency life. – ANDREW RESTUCCIA (DIERSEN: Do you know anyone who is or was a federal employee? I should write a book about the a) almost 3 years that I worked for the Democrats who ran the Park Forest Post office 1966-1969, b) almost 9 years that I worked for the Democrats who ran IRS in Chicago 1971-1980, and c) the almost 18 years that I worked for the Democrats who ran GAO in Chicago 1980-1997. When Republicans got elected, my Democrat superiors worked even harder to get rid of me.)
https://www.politico.com/story/2018/03/30/trump-washington-civil-servants-492347
(FROM THE ARTICLE: One Health and Human Services employee swore off online dating after potential suitors repeatedly got upset that he worked for the Trump administration. An Education Department fellow eagerly returned to teaching after listening to Betsy DeVos bash public schools. And one Environmental Protection Agency official said staffers are distraught at having to personally dismantle regulations they spent years crafting. This is Donald Trump’s government 14 months into his presidency. Interviews with nearly three dozen current and recently departed workers across the ideological spectrum and across the federal bureaucracy — from the State Department to the Interior Department — show that Trump’s presidency has fundamentally altered the lives of government workers in ways big and small. Trump’s frequent attacks on the “deep state” have engendered deep distrust between career and political employees, pushing many long-time civil servants toward the exits and raising the possibility of a government-wide brain drain. And while some workers, such as Border Patrol agents, are feeling newly empowered under Trump, morale at other agencies is so low that some employees said they were suffering from increased anxiety and depression that has complicated their personal relationships and even led to heavier drinking. Several career employees said they were keeping their heads down and ignoring possible avenues for promotions because they have little interest in being subjected to the political infighting that has taken hold in many agencies. “It’s the worst administration and I’ve dealt with all of them from Ronald Reagan all the way forward,” said Jeffrey David Cox, the national president of the American Federation of Government Employees, the country’s largest federal employee union. “The worst with morale of employees. The worst with constantly wanting to take away rights and benefits. And the worst in trying to starve the agencies of resources.”)

I did not major in accounting because I thought I could never pass the CPA examination. However, almost 9 years after I graduated with a degree in management, I passed the CPA examination on my first attempt. WASHINGTON POST
— Trump’s pick to head veterans department faces skepticism over his experience – Lisa Rein, Seung Min Kim, Emily Wax-Thibodeaux and Josh Dawsey (DIERSEN: What work experience do you have? I worked for the federal government 1966-1969 and 1971-1997. My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have always viciously demonized, viciously denigrated, and viciously condemned the work experience that I gained working for the Post Office 1966-1969, for IRS 1971-1980, the last 5 1/2 years of which at the GS-12 Step 1-5 levels, currently $81,071-$91,880, and for GAO 1980-1997, the last 11 years of which at the GS-13 Step 1-10 levels, currently $96,403-$125,325. What opinion do those who dominate your municipality, your township/ward, your county, and Illinois have of the work experience that you have? http://eastcountytoday.net/john-cox-praises-orange-county-supervisors-for-courageously-standing-up-to-attorney-general-xavier-becerra/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: California – Republican gubernatorial candidate John Cox praised the Orange County Board of Supervisors’ for supporting the rule of law and opposing Governor Jerry Brown and Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom’s devastating Sanctuary State policy. “I applaud the Orange County Supervisors who have courageously stood up to California Attorney General Xavier Becerra illegal actions,” said Cox. “They have made clear their intent to obey federal immigration law and uphold their oaths to the Constitution”. “I am thrilled to see communities like Escondido in my home county of San Diego and our San Diego County Board of Supervisors potentially following suit,” Cox said.)

GOVERNING
— Can Democrats Flip Crucial Governors’ Seats? In the 36 gubernatorial races this fall, all but 10 of the states are currently led by Republicans. – LOUIS JACOBSON
http://www.governing.com/topics/politics/gov-2018-governors-races-republicans-election.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner (R) Even before the March 20 primary, Rauner was vulnerable, thanks in part to an ongoing battle with the Democratic-controlled legislature, which kept the state without a full budget for more than two years, as well as from a conservative backlash over his decision to sign a bill providing state funding for abortions for low-income women. On primary day, he barely edged out socially conservative challenger Jeanne Ives. Meanwhile, J.B. Pritzker, a multibillionaire and the brother of the former Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker, easily defeated Chris Kennedy, a businessman and the son of Robert F. Kennedy, and progressive state Sen. Daniel Biss. The contest between Rauner and Pritzker is expected to get ugly, as Rauner has already been spending money on TV ads attacking Pritzker, linking him to impeached and jailed former Gov. Rod Blagojevich. But in a Democratic state in a Democratic year and with an unpopular Republican governor who has lost faith on the right, this is Pritzker’s race to lose.)

GOPUSA ILLINOIS
— The Illinois Republican Party (IRP) State Central Committee (SCC) governs the IRP. Every 4 years, at IRP county party conventions, one IRP SCC member for each of Illinois’ 18 congressional districts is elected for 4 year terms. All votes taken by the IRP SCC are by weighted vote. Weighted vote is determined by the number of Republican primary ballots that were cast statewide divided by the number of Republican primary ballots that were cast in each of the 18 congressional districts. Who are the applicants for each of the 18 IRP SCC positions? What are their backgrounds and qualifications? Why are they running? Exactly what do they promise to do if elected? Applications were due by 5:00 PM, Monday, March 26, 2018. SEE: https://illinois.gop/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/2018-SCC-Application.pdf IRP SCC members will be elected at April 18, 2018 IRP county party conventions. What weighted vote will each of those IRP SCC members have? Every 4 years, each IRP SCC member appoints a member of the IRP State Convention Platform and Resolutions Committee. I have already asked Bob Grogan, an announced candidate for the IRP SCC 6th Congressional District position, to appoint me to the 2020 IRP State Convention Platform and Resolutions Committee, like Ron Smith appointed me in 2008. – Dave Diersen

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The Indiana Republican Party is seeking suggestions about what it should stand for and what it should oppose, as GOP leaders work to craft a platform for delegates to consider adopting in June at the party’s biennial state convention. The Indiana GOP Platform Committee next month is holding three public hearings for Hoosier Republicans to recommend positions, policies and programs for the 2018 party platform. The hearing happening closest to Northwest Indiana is set for 6 p.m., Eastern time, April 12 at the St. Joseph County Republican Headquarters, 4133 S. Main St., South Bend. Additional hearings are scheduled for the same time April 4 at Greenwood City Hall and April 16 at Jeffersonville Township Public Library. Individuals can reserve a spot to testify during a hearing, or submit written platform suggestions without appearing by emailing platform@indiana.gop. “We’re the party of proven leadership and the party that’s delivering real solutions to Indiana’s biggest challenges,” said Kyle Hupfer, Indiana GOP chairman. “Our party platform and these hearings unite us as Republicans, bringing us all together under a set of people-focused principles that are making life better for all Hoosiers.” In addition to adopting a platform, Republican delegates to this year’s state convention in Evansville will nominate the party’s general election candidates for secretary of state, state auditor and state treasurer.)

Step increases recognize the work experience that you gain. Based on their words and their actions, Rauner and his supporters have an extremely low opinion of the work experience that I have.)

http://www.fwbusiness.com/columns/technology/article_9f542775-5d7f-5bfc-9056-1642e597596a.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: A professor at Indiana University’s School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering co-authored an essay for the journal “Science” calling for a coordinated investigation into the forces behind fake news. Filippo Menczer is a member of IU’s Center for Complex Networks and Systems Research. His co-authors for the paper included researchers at high-profile organizations such as Microsoft, Harvard, MIT and Yale. They said companies with platforms used by massive audiences to produce and consume information, such as Facebook, Google and Twitter, have an “ethical and social responsibility transcending market forces” to contribute to scientific research on fake news. The paper was published in the academic journal a little more than a week after 13 Russians were indicted for involvement in a “troll farm” operation that spread false information connected with the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Menczer is founder of the IU Observatory on Social Media, which provides tools for identifying automated social media accounts and analyzing how misinformation spreads across social networks. Estimates in the paper put the number of automated “bots” at 60 million on Facebook and up to 48 million on Twitter. The Twitter estimate was based on a study Menczer and colleagues had conducted recently. “The spreaders of fake news are using increasingly sophisticated methods,” Menczer said in a statement about the essay. “If we don’t have enough quantifiable information about the problem, we’ll never be able to design interventions that work. This paper is really a call to groups across the globe – academics, journalists and private industry – to work together to attack this problem.” The paper proposes changes to algorithms the authors say increasingly control online access to information as well as high school courses designed to help students recognize illegitimate news sources. “The challenge is there are so many vulnerabilities we don’t yet understand and so many different pieces that can break or be gamed or manipulated when it comes to fake news,” Menczer said. “It’s such a complex problem that it must be attacked from every angle.” “What we want to convey most is that fake news is a real problem, it’s a tough problem, and it’s a problem that requires serious research to solve.”)

CHRON
— Qualifications for Political Strategists – Michael Mageean
http://work.chron.com/qualifications-political-strategists-23250.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: A political strategist, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, is a senior political consultant who designs and directs election campaigns for politicians. Most employers require a bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English or business or even a master’s degree. But at a strategist’s level you’ll need qualifications gained from at least 10 years delivering results in the field in areas like managing the media and fundraising during campaigns. Strategic Thinker A senior consultant needs to be a strategic thinker to effectively solve problems based on past experience using analogical reasoning. Other approaches like deductive reasoning or simple trial and error might not be possible in a fast-moving electoral contest where the story is changing by the hour. This is why a strategist needs a voluminous knowledge of previous elections. Media Master A political strategist will have to be a master at handling the media in order to get his message out to the electorate. Using the media is about timing and presentation. He needs to know how journalists think and how a newsroom schedule works. An election strategist must also be proficient in organizing events like fundraising dinners. These provide campaign funds and are also media events where the candidate delivers speeches and sound bites for broadcast. Master of the Political Message A political strategist has to have a whole communications package to electrify voters. The strategist needs to create a persona and media image for his client that appeals to as many voters as possible. Once he’s crafted the image he’ll have to stage photo opportunities and media events so he can display it to the electorate. A strategist needs to work with the candidate on speeches and answers to questions so the right message will be communicated on the campaign trail and in front of the TV cameras. Extensive and High-Quality Contacts Success comes and goes for a senior political consultant, but what he has to consistently maintain is a high-quality network of contacts. If he has these he will always be in demand because he can secure funding for his clients and introductions to powerful patrons and backers. He is a gatekeeper to powerful supporters and must also act as a cogent persuader to convince them to get behind his client.)

STUDY
— Become a Political Consultant: Step-by-Step Career Guide
https://study.com/articles/Become_a_Political_Consultant_Step-by-Step_Career_Guide.html

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Political consultants work on election campaigns for political candidates. They may help candidates develop media strategies, explain their platforms to the public, create advertisements, respond to opponents or engage in fundraising. Other consultants may work in research or polling. In the former type of job, they investigate the major issues in a campaign or a candidate’s opponent, while in the latter they ask the public how they feel about a candidate. This information can then be used to develop a candidate’s election campaign strategy. Some of these consultants’ job tasks overlap with those of political scientists, who are similar to consultants. Political consultants work full-time, though they often put in overtime hours to meet deadlines or deal with crises. The job can be stressful, but it pays a salary that is much higher than the national average. Though there is strong competition for these jobs, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts the field will grow at a faster-than-average rate over the coming decade.)

https://www.kitsapsun.com/story/news/local/2018/03/27/kilmer-bill-federal-retirement/447341002/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: But when he started to plan for retirement, he learned the years that he worked as a temporary employee didn’t count toward it because of a change in the federal system that went into effect the year he was hired at the shipyard. Under the new system, employees who transitioned into full-time positions could no longer retroactively contribute to their retirements for the time they worked as temporary employees, although they had been able to do so under the previous system. As a result, Hodge is now witnessing other employees retire who were hired at the shipyard as permanent employees after he started there. He must either work longer or retire early by the government’s standards with penalties to his benefits. “It’s hard to keep a good attitude, but as a manager I do it,” Hodge said. “We’re starting to see more people leave and it’s very frustrating.” After seeking out other avenues for assistance without result, Hodge and a few other shipyard workers sought help from U.S. Rep. Derek Kilmer. After learning about the complexities of Hodge’s case, Kilmer said he saw an opportunity to right what he says is a wrong.)

GOVERNMENT EXECUTIVE
— Prospects Unclear for Trump’s $1 Billion Performance Fund – Erich Wagner (DIERSEN: Democrats run the federal government. Democrats use budget cuts to get rid of their employees who are Republican, White, male, and/or non-veteran who Democrats did not promote to GS-13 (currently $96,403) by age 25, GS-14 (currently $113,920) by age 30, GS-15 (currently $134,000) by age 35, and Senior Executive Service (currently $164,200) by age 40.)
http://www.govexec.com/pay-benefits/2018/03/prospects-unclear-trumps-1-billion-performance-fund/147008/

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The omission of one White House management proposal from the $1.3 trillion omnibus spending bill for fiscal 2018, approved by Congress and signed by President Trump last week, could serve as a bellwether for the administration’s plans to transform the federal workforce. The spending package includes a number of provisions that specifically prohibit agency leaders from enacting plans to downsize or reshape their organizations without consulting Congress. And totally absent from the more-than 2,000-page document was the White House’s proposed $1 billion inter-agency performance fund, which the White House wanted to enact this fiscal year. That fund would be used by agencies for designing programs like performance-based pay and to pay bonuses for individual high performers across government.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Over just a few days last week, the essence of Trumpism was on global display: The president ignored his advisers by congratulating Vladimir Putin, took the first steps toward imposing tariffs on billions of dollars in Chinese goods and signed a huge $1.3 trillion spending bill that will balloon the federal deficit. In each case, President Donald Trump cast aside years of Republican orthodoxy – and most of the party followed right along. The raw, undefined brand of populism that Trump rode into office is now hardening into a clearer set of policies in his second year, remaking the Republican Party and the country on issues ranging from trade and immigration to spending and entitlement programs.)

http://www.sj-r.com/opinion/20180324/bernard-schoenburg-rauner-says-he-remembers-but-wont-yet-name-computerless-office
(FROM THE ARTICLE: While Democrats elected members of their state central committee in the primary, members of the GOP’s state committee will be elected by precinct committeemen at county conventions on April 18. And a race is shaping up in the 13th Congressional District. DUSTIN PETERSON, 37, of Clinton, an independent insurance agent who has been DeWitt County GOP chairman since 2014, is taking on incumbent member FRED FLORETH of Springfield, a lawyer finishing his first four-year term in the party post. “I’m not running against Fred, I’m running more just to try to expand my role with the Republican Party, and try to learn more and be more involved and try to, for lack of a better word … get a little more of a youth movement in there,” Peterson said. Peterson said he was neutral in the governor’s primary, has supported Rauner in the past and supports him in the general election. “Hopefully we can all come together as a party,” he said. Floreth, who turns 62 this weekend, put on an impressive campaign back in 2014 when he defeated an incumbent on the central committee, JERRY CLARKE. The 13th includes all or parts of 14 counties. Floreth, who supported Rauner in the primary, also says the party must come together after last week’s primary. He said he knows there some profound disagreements in the party, as illustrated by the showing of Rauner’s primary opponent, state Rep. JEANNE IVES. But he said all in the party “would have to conclude Governor Rauner is by far the better option” to run the state than Democratic candidate J.B. PRITZKER. Floreth says he thinks he has accomplished goals he set when he ran four years ago, including improving the experience of precinct committeemen at the state convention through allowing more say in policy and helping keep information flowing between the central committee and local party officials. He noted that he sends out a newsletter at least every other week, and helped improve training for precinct committeemen.)

— Rauner Still Claims No Social Agenda – Greg Bishop (DIERSEN: If that is true, than Rauner should happily sign a “Contract with Illinois Republicans” in which he would agree to take no actions against the traditional family, right to life, immigration, and the rest of the planks in the Illinois Republican Party platform.)
http://altondailynews.com/news/details.cfm?clientid=17&id=262334#.WrdmJcuKSM8
(FROM THE ARTICLE: In starting his post-primary re-election campaign, Gov. Bruce Rauner said Thursday he still doesn’t have a social agenda, but critics disagree. During a campaign stop in Springfield two days after narrowly winning the Republican nomination, Rauner said he has no social agenda, something the wealthy political newcomer maintained before being elected as a Republican in 2014. “You’ve never ever seen me or heard me or watched me advocate on social issues. I’ve never done it,” Rauner said. “I advocate on lower taxes, more jobs and ending corruption.” State Rep. David McSweeney, who has called Rauner a failed governor, said Rauner approved more abortions to be paid for by taxpayers and a measure that prohibits law enforcement from detaining someone based solely on that person’s immigration status. “He does have a social agenda,” McSweeney, R-Barrington Hills, said. “He signed [House Bill] 40. He signed [Senate Bill] 31, which definitely is a sanctuary state bill.” McSweeney said SB31, also known as the TRUST Act, prohibits law enforcement from detaining someone based solely on that person’s immigration status. “It’s been a very big issue up in my area, in Lake County and McHenry County, where there are real examples of people who are being let out of jail even though the federal government wants them detained,” he said.)

How many voters in your precinct asked you about the candidates on the March 20, 2018 Republican ballot in your precinct? None of the 504 registered voters in my precinct asked me about the candidates on the March 20, 2018 Republican ballot in my precinct. Sadly, disgustingly, and outrageously, that is not surprising. Since 1999, those who dominate the Milton Township Republican Central Committee, the DuPage County Republican Central Committee, and the Illinois Republican Party have done everything that they can to discredit me with the voters in my precinct. Officially, they hint/imply/argue/shout that I am “too conservative,” and because of that, candidates that I might promote in primaries are “too conservative” to win general elections. But from what I see, having lived in my precinct since 1984, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes hint/imply/argue/shout behind my back, under the table, and below the belt at the voters in my precinct and at everyone else that I am a White supremacist, Nazi, KKK member, hater, racist, sexist, bigot, and even worse things. (FROM THE ARTICLE: It wasn’t democracy’s finest hour. On Election Day, the sole Republican candidate for the U.S. House in Illinois’ 3rd Congressional District was a Holocaust denier and neo-Nazi. And he got more than 20,000 votes. Ugh. Ideally, Arthur Jones would have received no votes because he deserves no support. But even one vote – his own – would have been enough to win Tuesday’s primary because he ran unopposed. Instead he got 20,458. The Cook County Clerk’s Office reports that 70 percent of suburban voters in the district pulling a Republican ballot checked his name. We blame a lack of situational awareness. Republicans didn’t bother to recruit a legitimate candidate because the district is gerrymandered to elect a Democrat. So Jones waltzed in and now is set to run on their ticket in November against incumbent Rep. Dan Lipinski. This embarrassment is on Republicans. Let both parties stay awake during future filing periods to prevent unsavory characters from hijacking their good names. Most voters didn’t intend to support Jones, we’re certain. They voted the party line and automatically filled in the box next to his name. Why research an unopposed candidate? We wish they had paid more attention to news reports. If they feel a little chagrined, they ought to. The lesson here is democracy is imperfect. But it’s also self-correcting, 3rd District residents. This November: Vote Lipinski. All of you.)

CHICAGO SUN-TIMES
— Next thing you know, cemeteries will be voting in DuPage – Editorial (DIERSEN: Since 2015, there have been two cemeteries in my DuPage County Milton Township Precinct 9 in Wheaton – Wheaton Cemetery (http://wheatoncemetery.org/) and St. Michael’s Cemetery (https://www.parishesonline.com/find/st-michaels-cemetery). Of my precinct’s 504 registered voters, according to the DuPage County Election Commission (DCEC), 105 (21%) cast Republican Ballots, 98 (19%) cast Democrat ballots, and 301 (60%) did not vote. Beyond outrageously, beyond unacceptably, in 2015, the DCEC let my critics/opponents unethically gerrymander my precinct to punish me and Jeanne Ives. The DCEC let my critics/opponents a) take away about 100 residences on the west side of my precinct and b) give me about 100 residences out Ives’ precinct to the east. The DCEC let my critics/opponents draw Ives into my precinct. But then, my critics/opponents drew her out of my new precinct and into Precinct 65 because she asked them to.)
https://chicago.suntimes.com/opinion/next-thing-you-know-cemeteries-will-be-voting-in-dupage/
(FROM THE EDITORIAL: Oh, DuPage County, have you forgotten who you are? Generations of Chicagoans fled to you, DuPage, to escape the political corruption of the big bad city. In Chicago, the rule of thumb was to “vote early and often.” In DuPage, a single honorable vote, almost always for a Republican, sufficed. In Chicago, the quiet residents of cemeteries voted. In DuPage, only the living, if sometimes barely. In Chicago, vote returns from the “river wards” could be held up for hours, allowing for a little late-night skullduggery to put a Machine favorite in a tight race over the top. In DuPage, goodness no. But on Tuesday in DuPage, the election process looked about as squared away as in Chicago circa 1947. Final voting results were not released until roughly eight hours after the polls closed, about 3 a.m. A skeptic might wonder if everything was on the up and up. We’re told it was a hardware problem. Elections judges were unable to get results from scanning machines, which are used to read paper ballots, and the judges had to lug 268 of the machines to the election commission office in Wheaton to tally the results. Now, on Tuesday, election officials will be on the hot seat. The DuPage County Board has asked them to attend a board meeting to explain what went wrong and how to fix it. “I promise you, there’s going to be changes,” County Board President Dan Cronin told the Daily Herald. “I am not done with this.” But there’s little mystery about what should be done — it was right on the ballot. An advisory referendum question asked voters whether the DuPage County Election Commission should be dissolved and its responsibilities taken over by the office of the county clerk. Fifty-six percent of the voters said that was a good idea. After Tuesday’s show of incompetence by the election commission, you can bet that even more voters now would say that’s a good idea. Cronin, who has been a leader in Illinois in trying to eliminate unnecessary units of government, is pushing the merger, which he says would make the election process more accountable and save DuPage taxpayers $300,000 a year. But the change requires a change in state law, and the Legislature has been slow to go along. Why? Because the Legislature is always slow to go along when it comes to eliminating unnecessary units of government. It’s about jobs and political turf. For the same reason, the Legislature has been insufficiently aggressive in eliminating township governments. Cronin is right. The DuPage Election Commission bungled it badly on Tuesday. And we were feeling the ghosts of those old Chicago ward heelers.)

CHICAGO TRIBUNE
— Stakes are high for Raoul, Harold in race to succeed Attorney General Lisa Madigan – Bill Lukitsch
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/politics/ct-met-kwame-raoul-erika-harold-attorney-general-20180322-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: On the other is Harold, a conservative who has never held elected office and calls herself a “political outsider.” She is opposed to abortion and same-sex marriage but has vowed to uphold all of the state’s laws. Harold has accused Madigan of failing to take an interest in public corruption during her tenure, noting that her father is Democratic House Speaker Michael Madigan. And she’s backed by his chief political nemesis, Gov. Bruce Rauner. . .Harold disputes the suggestion she would be beholden to Rauner, noting that she has split with him over his decision to sign legislation expanding access to abortion. Even so, she says she will uphold that law and others she may personally disagree with. “The job of the attorney general is to enforce the law,” Harold said. “It’s not to impose your own agenda. It is to make sure that the laws are enforced uniformly and fairly, and I’m committed to doing that.” Rauner’s campaign gave Harold $305,000, and the governor has said he “personally recruited” her in part to “prosecute corruption against the Madigan clan and their network.” Harold first became well-known as the 2003 winner of the Miss America pageant. She says her “priorities are not partisan in nature” and will resonate with voters regardless of political affiliation. Still, Harold mirrors Rauner in promising to fight corruption within state government. She said she wants the legislature to provide additional powers for the attorney general, including the ability to convene a grand jury and issue subpoenas. “I think the priority of public corruption will be an issue where we may differ, and I think it’s important to emphasize fighting public corruption because both parties should be held accountable,” Harold said of Raoul. Harold works for a Champaign-based firm where she specializes in business law. She first sought public office in 2014, losing a Republican primary for Congress to U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis of Taylorville. She ran on a conservative social platform and since has been accused by her unsuccessful primary opponent of softening her position on conservative ideas to comport with the governor’s socially centrist agenda. Harold’s stance against same-sex marriage has served as a flashpoint in her primary bid. According to the book “Being Miss America: Behind the Rhinestone Curtain” by former Miss America Kate Shindle, Harold’s “ultra-conservative views” had kept her from winning the Miss Illinois pageant for several years. Shindle writes that Harold was asked in a pageant interview about adoption by same-sex couples. “Harold reportedly stated that she would choose to place a child in an abusive heterosexual home rather than with a loving gay couple,” the book says. Harold said she did not remember that exchange, saying she supports same-sex adoption and foster parenting, and “if I said what they alleged, it’s absolutely wrong.”)

Jeanne Ives predicts Rauner will lose and that many of her 342,000 supporters feel betrayed by him. — Democrats, like Republican, also at odds – Editorial (DIERSEN: If the majority of Republican Precinct Committeemen/Captains in Illinois were conservative, the conservative Ives would have defeated the anti-social conservative Rauner. The Republican Party exists to help elect candidates who are conservative. The Democrat Party exists to help elect candidates who are liberal. The Libertarian Party exists to help elect candidates who are libertarian. The Green Party exists to help elect candidates who are green. http://www.news-gazette.com/opinion/editorials/2018-03-24/editorial-dems-gop-also-odds.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Rauner has shown that you can’t be fiscally conservative and say you are not socially conservative.” This was at the core of Ives’ campaign — Rauner isn’t a Republican, we are. She said as much during a campaign stop in February during the Williamson County Republican Women’s Lincoln Day Luncheon. “He’s not part of the ‘we,’” she said in an interview after her speech, referring to the Republican party. During her address in February, Ives thrashed Rauner’s dealings with Democrats, particularly on a controversial piece of legislation last year that loosened regulations allowing state medical dollars to be used for abortions. She said reaching across the aisle on party issues this way was a sign of weakness — she said “capitulating” to the opposition showed vulnerability and this was not quality in a leader.)

DEMOCRATIC GOVERNORS ASSOCIATION
— FOX News: Bruce Rauner is “Friendless” (DIERSEN: Of course, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes hint/imply/argue/shout that if anyone else had been the Republican Precinct Committeeman in DuPage County Milton Township Precinct 9 since 1999, a) far more than just 105 of its 504 registered voters would have cast Republican ballots in the March 20, 2018 primary election, b) far fewer than 98 would have cast Democrat ballots, and c) many, if not most, if not virtually all of the 301 who did not vote would have cast Republican ballots. In my defense, as I have reported to the DuPage County Election Commission, 20 of the 504, including Chris Hage and his wife, no longer live in the precinct. Further, since 1999, those who dominate the Milton Township Republican Central Committee, the DuPage County Republican Central Committee, and the Illinois Republican Party have done everything that they can to discredit me with the voters in my precinct. Officially, they hint/imply/argue/shout that I am “too conservative” and because of that, candidates that I might promote in primaries are “too conservative” to win general elections. But from what see, having lived in my precinct since 1984, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes hint/imply/argue/shout under the table and below the belt at the voters in my precinct and at everyone else that I am a White supremacist, Nazi, KKK member, hater, racist, sexist, bigot, and even worse things. I should write a book about a) those who badmouth me and my GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails to Roskam, b) those who badmouthed me and my GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails to Hyde, and c) those who since 1989 have badmouthed me to both Roskam and Hyde.)
http://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/naperville-sun/news/ct-nvs-roskam-casten-6th-race-st-0323-20180322-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Roskam didn’t face a primary challenger, but suburban Democrats see November’s general election as a potential chance to take the seat in November because Democrat Hillary Clinton won the 6th District over Republican President Donald Trump by 7 percentage points in the 2016 election. Roskam prevailed in his race that year by more than 18 points. Roskam has faced tough campaigns before. He has held the 6th Congressional District seat since 2006, when he narrowly defeated Democrat Tammy Duckworth in a nationally watched race. The district’s boundaries have changed since then, and it now includes parts of Naperville, Elgin, Wheaton and portions of DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Cook counties.)
— Republicans blame Democrats for allowing Holocaust denier Art Jones with Nazi affiliations to get 20K GOP votes – Ted Slowik (DIERSEN: Why should anyone listen to the Illinois Republican Party (IRP) concerning Jones? Rauner rejects the traditional family, right to life, immigration, and other planks in the IRP planform. Because the IRP promotes Rauner, the IRP rejects the traditional family, right to life, immigration, and other planks in the IRP platform.)
http://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/daily-southtown/opinion/ct-sta-slowik-primary-election-recap-st-0322-20180321-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Maybe some of the 13,158 suburban Cook County residents who voted for Jones strongly believe in freedom of speech and Jones’ right to express his views. Perhaps some of the 3,023 voters in Chicago who punched his ticket agree with his positions on immigration (“no more sanctuary cities!”) or his support of 2nd Amendment rights (“concealed carry for personal protection!”). I suppose it’s possible some of the 4,093 people in Will County who cast ballots for Jones did so knowing about his anti-Semitic views but supported him anyway because of his stances against abortion and same-sex marriage. More likely, the 65 DuPage County residents who voted for Jones, 70, didn’t know about his former membership in the American Nazi Party or that he ran for mayor of Milwaukee as a member of the National Socialist White People’s Party in 1976. Jones, however, told me Wednesday he believes the votes for him were no accident. “The people who voted for me knew exactly who I was,” Jones said. “They liked what I had to say.” Jones said the Republican Party sent mailers and made robocalls telling people about his views, so voters must have known. “That might have gotten me a lot of votes,” he said of the party’s efforts. I think it’s more likely the vast majority of Jones voters simply supported whatever GOP candidate happened to be on the ballot. “Yes, I think your surmise is spot on,” said Sean Morrison of Orland Park, chair of the Cook County Republican Party, state committeeman for the 3rd District and Cook County Board member. “Look, the overwhelming majority of most folks in the district have absolutely no idea who the Nazi Art Jones is,” Morrison told me Wednesday. “I feel that they very likely pulled their Republican ballot and voted down the line.” Jones has previously run for the seat, but Republicans either successfully knocked him off the ballot by challenging his petitions or ran legitimate candidates whose totals dwarfed the few votes cast for Jones. This year was different. I asked Morrison why Republicans failed to field a “serious” candidate to challenge seven-term incumbent Democrat Dan Lipinski, a conservative who narrowly withstood a primary challenge from progressive Marie Newman. “Well, it was certainly not for lack of trying to draw in candidates,” Morrison said. “The 3rd Congressional district has historically voted very high for Congressman Lipinski. Even many Republicans vote for him due to his strong family values positions, so he receives a great deal of crossover voters. “He typically wins his general races in 70 percent to 30 percent margins. Most prospects see the seemingly futile attempt in running against him.” In other words, the problem isn’t so much that 20,000 Republicans may have just voted for a Nazi. It’s the partisan political system where the party in power gets to redraw district maps every 10 years to maximize odds of retaining power by keeping races noncompetitive. “The seat is mathematically drawn like the majority of districts as a Democrat district seat,” Morrison said. “This is the larger issue citizens should recognize and be concerned about in Illinois. “The Democrats have controlled the district remap drawings for several decades now. The Democrat-controlled gerrymandering is unabashed and (is the reason) why we have a real one-party system throughout Illinois.” I accept Morrison’s explanation as based in fact and admire his skill at spinning this as the fault of Democrats. Still, I think the candidacy of Jones harms the Republican brand more than it does the Democrats.
On a national scale Wednesday, reaction to Jones’ win ranged from shock and disbelief to outrage across traditional and social media channels. “Arthur Jones is a Nazi, not a Republican. It is a disgrace that he has won the Republican nomination,” Norman Coleman, chair of the Republican Jewish Coalition, said in a statement. “The GOP didn’t invite Jones into the party,” Coleman said. “The only mistake was not running a candidate in an uncompetitive, safe-Democrat district.” The Illinois GOP continues to denounce Jones. A state party spokesman told The New York Times the party would devote resources to supporting a Republican to run as an independent against Lipinski in November. “Arthur Jones is not a real Republican; he is a Nazi whose disgusting, bigoted views have no place in our nation’s discourse,” Tim Schneider, the Illinois Republican Party chairman, said in a statement. The National Republican Congressional Committee issued a statement that did not mention Jones by name. . .”There is no gerrymandering in Illinois,” Brown said. “Their whining about that is not factual.” There was ample publicity prior to the election about Jones’ Nazi affiliations, he added. “How anybody could vote for this individual is mind-boggling,” Brown said. “It was a conscious effort to cast those votes.” I think the number of votes cast for Jones is another statement about the perils of uneducated voters. Despite record early-voting numbers, turnout ended up at just 28.5 percent of suburban Cook County’s 1.5 million registered voters. Turnout among younger voters was notably low — at 3.4 percent — despite heightened interest in the Lipinski-Newman race and a nonbinding referendum asking whether Cook County should legalize marijuana for recreational use. The measure passed by a nearly two-to-one margin. Millennials ages 18-27 cast just 16,780 ballots, Clerk David Orr reported. That was the lowest of any age group and compares to 76,696 for ages 58-67, 67,302 for ages 48-57 and 48,225 for ages 68-77.)

St. Eve — nominated by Trump to the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals — appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday morning. When U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin asked her what she made of Trump’s tweets crowing about his victory in a trial St. Eve presided over, the judge replied with magisterial hauteur. “I have heard that, but I do not follow tweets!” she told the committee. The hearing was plain sailing for St. Eve and fellow nominee Michael Scudder, who have the backing of both Durbin and U.S. Sen. Tammy Duckworth.)

https://www.cnn.com/2018/03/21/politics/democrat-high-turnout-illinois/index.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The primaries in Illinois on Tuesday night were, for the most part melodramatic — some big names got scares but there were no major upsets. There was, however, some good news for Democrats: In the second of two statewide primaries this year (Texas being the other), turnout was significantly higher for Democrats than in either 2010 or 2014. There were just under 1.3 million votes cast in the Illinois Democratic primary Tuesday to just over 700,000 in the Republican primary. Put another way, 64% of the votes cast were on the Democratic line, compared with only 36% on the Republican line. Now, Illinois is a blue state, but even taking that into account, it was an impressive performance for Democrats. Dating back to 1998, there has never been a midterm year in which there was a higher percentage of two-party votes cast in the Illinois Democratic primary compared with 2018. Importantly, this includes 2010, when both the Democrats and Republicans had competitive gubernatorial primaries, like this year. In 2010, just 54% of all primary votes were cast in the Democratic primary when Republicans gained over 60 seats across the country and control of the US House.)

The occasion was an event at the home of Naperville Mayor Steve Chirico and his wife, Julie Cole Chirico, chief fundraiser for embattled, but Rauner-financed House GOP Leader Jim Durkin (R-Western Springs). Diana Rauner’s Italy remark was a response to a question she received about Illinois’ stunning rate of outmigration. An attendee noted that several of her neighbors had left the state, asking Diana Rauner what her husband planned to do to encourage people to stay. “She made a vague comment about stopping Madigan and then said that, if Bruce lost and they couldn’t stop Madigan, they were moving to Italy,” the source told DuPage Policy Journal. “It was awkward.” In addition to employing his wife, Durkin and his campaign chief, David Walsh, are a longtime backers of Mayor Chirico, a moderate Republican who supports Rauner but actively opposed President Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election. The Rauners have traveled to Italy on official business during his administration. In Nov. 2016, Gov. Rauner and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel traveled to Rome along with State Sen. John Cullerton (D-Chicago) Chicago Ald. Ed Burke (D-14th), former social secretary to President Barack Obama, Desiree Rogers and U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) to see then-Chicago Archbishop Blase Cupich be elevated to cardinal. At a co-press conference with Emanuel in Vatican City, Rauner said “this time reminds us that the good lord did not make us Republicans or Democrats.” Seven months later, Rauner would break his promise to Cardinal Cupich that he would not sign a bill that would force Illinois taxpayers to pay for abortions.)

CHICAGO SUN-TIMES
— Trump a power player in Illinois 2018 primary – Lynn Sweet
https://chicago.suntimes.com/columnists/trump-a-power-player-in-illinois-2018-primary/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: President Donald Trump is a big player in Tuesday’s Illinois primary with Trump-fueled voting expected to boost 2018 turnout compared to 2010 and 2012, the most recent nonpresidential years. Who does that help the most? On the GOP side, it’s pro-Trump governor candidate Jeanne Ives, taking on Gov. Bruce Rauner, who has been running from Trump. As for Democrats, the Trump factor benefits most the contenders who are able to seize the support of angry, newly energized voters. In the bigger primary races, that would include governor hopeful state Sen. Daniel Biss; House contender Marie Newman and Cook County Assessor challenger Fritz Kaegi. Here’s what I’ve learned about the Illinois Trump factors based on interviews with strategists, and my analysis of TV ads, direct mail and other political communications: Democrats furious over Trump’s 2016 victory, who usually don’t vote in nonpresidential years, are in this time. Those voters — younger, people of color and women — are likely more progressive, strategists tell me. Far fewer Republicans vote in Illinois primaries, so a candidate with a committed, animated base — that would be Ives — has an advantage. Rauner is wobbly on Trump. He’s loath to associate with Trump for fear of alienating Democratic and crossover GOP voters he will need in November. That is, should he be renominated since pro-Trump Ives, a state representative from Wheaton, has mustered a strong challenge from the right. The Democratic Governor’s Association is trying to throw the primary to Ives because she will be easier to beat in November. The DGA is running an ad praising her for being in “lockstep” with Trump — a pitch, wicked as it is from Democrats, to appeal to Trump primary voters turned off by Rauner.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Democrats and many Republicans in Illinois were horrified by the ad: a 60-second spot released by Gov. Bruce Rauner’s GOP primary challenger, Jeanne Ives, featuring a parade of politically incorrect takes on thorny cultural issues. A deep-voiced man portraying a transgender woman tells Rauner, “Thank you for signing legislation that lets me use the girls bathroom.” Then a young woman thanks Rauner for “making all Illinois families pay for my abortions.” But equally shocking to the content was the person who had made the ad possible: Richard Uihlein, a little-known Republican donor who had until recently been one of Rauner’s biggest supporters. After a fallout out with the governor over abortion policy, Uihlien gave $2.5 million to Ives in a single week this past January — essentially bankrolling her campaign to defeat Rauner in a Republican primary on Tuesday.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: It’s well-known that nearly everyone in Donald Trump’s orbit has to sign a nondisclosure agreement, from business associates, to campaign employees, to women he may or may not have had an affair with. Therefore it is simultaneously galling and non-at-all surprising that Trump may have pressured senior White House staffers into signing NDAs, though they are members of the federal government, not his personal employees. Trump actually told the Washington Post in April 2016 that he intended to use NDAs in the White House, saying “when people are chosen by a man to go into government at high levels and then they leave government and they write a book about a man and say a lot of things that were really guarded and personal, I don’t like that.” He allowed that “there could be some kind of a law that you can’t do this,” and experts say he was on to something: ACLU: Public employees can’t be gagged by private agreements. These so-called NDAs are unconstitutional and unenforceable.)

— My predictions for Tuesday’s primary election – Bernard Schoenburg
http://www.sj-r.com/opinion/20180317/bernard-schoenburg-my-predictions-for-tuesdays-primary-election
(FROM THE ARTICLE: A year ago, it would have been hard to imagine a serious Republican challenge to first-term Gov. BRUCE RAUNER. But state Rep. JEANNE IVES of Wheaton is waging just that type of fight. A key reason Ives got into the race is that Rauner signed a bill he said he would veto — which in part expands taxpayer-paid abortions to Medicaid recipients. Rauner has said Ives is too far to the right to get elected in Illinois. Ives says Rauner lied about the abortion bill and is lying about her in ads that accuse her of being linked to House Speaker MICHAEL MADIGAN, D-Chicago. She also says Rauner doesn’t deserve another term after his first one. Ives got a lot of attention by running an ad, roundly criticized, that showed actors (including a man in a dress) seen by critics as stereotypical negative views of groups including transgender people. Some newspapers have cited that ad as divisive and the reason they can’t endorse Ives. It did get attention, but also gave people pause. I think Rauner gets the nomination — but Ives could well be close. And if she even overcomes him, it won’t be a shock. . .On the GOP side, Rauner backs Urbana attorney ERIKA HAROLD, and she beats DuPage County Board member GARY GRASSO.)

My doing the aforesaid frustrated their efforts to waste my career and to get rid of me.)

QUAD CITIES ONLINE
— Don’t lose chance to frame debate; vote Tuesday – Editorial (DIERSEN: What do you say to candidates who run as Republicans in Illinois, in DuPage County, in Milton Township, in Glen Ellyn, and in Wheaton, but who talk and act like they will not defend or advance the traditional family, right to life, immigration, Second Amendment, and other planks in the Illinois Republican Party platform? At a minimum, Republican candidates should a) pledge to make E-Verify mandatory and b) pledge to stop the legalization of pot for recreational use. Political parties exist to help elect candidates who can and will defend and advance their platform.)

TOWNHALL
— California Continues to Steamroll Its Citizens’ Rights by Appointing an Illegal Alien to a Statewide Post – Donna Carol Voss (DIERSEN: In Illinois, to curry favor with Hispanic voters, Democrats and RINOs would love to appoint an illegal Hispanic to a statewide post.)

— Trump the Turnaround Manager – Bruce Bialosky (DIERSEN: Democrats continue to run the federal government. I am sure that under Trump, overwhelmingly, a) those who have left the federal government are Republican, White, male, older, and/or non-veteran and b) those who have not been hired for entry-level federal jobs have been Republican, White, male, older, and/or non-veteran.)
https://townhall.com/columnists/brucebialosky/2018/03/18/trump-the-turnaround-manager-n2461290
(FROM THE ARTICLE: President Trump has gotten flack for not filling a significant number of political appointee positions in his first year. His answer to that is “You don’t need them.” He has cut positions across departments by eliminating people who probably don’t like the guy anyway. In his first six months, the federal employee count went down 10,700. It is not just what he cut, but likewise what he has not added. In their first six months, President Bush (the younger) added 36,000 and President Obama added 60,000. While 10,700 may be a small dent in the total number of federal workers (2.8 million), it is still headed in the right direction.)

— Despite mainstream media narrative, Andrew McCabe wasn’t fired for political reasons — here’s the truth – Chris Enloe (DIERSEN: Of course, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes a) side with my Democrat superiors in the federal government and b) hint/imply/argue/shout that all the adverse actions that they took against me were justified. But they know full-well that neither the official record nor anything else supports any of the adverse actions that they took against me.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Despite the mainstream media narrative surrounding Andrew McCabe’s Friday termination, the now-former deputy FBI director wasn’t fired for political reasons. Instead, it was an internal Department of Justice investigation lead by inspector general Michael Horowitz that led to McCabe’s dismissal.)
— Democrats rally to help former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe still get $1.8 million pension – Teri Webster (DIERSEN: My critics/opponents stress that after my Democrat GAO superiors succeeded in forcing me to take their early retirement “offer” in 1997 when I was 49 years old, that neither they, nor anyone else offered me a federal job. They hint/imply/argue/shout that if I was any good, Henry Hyde, Peter Fitzgerald, Dennis Hastert, Peter Roskam, etc. would have offered me jobs.)

NEW YORK TIMES
— How Mike Pompeo Could Save the State Department – SAMANTHA POWER (DIERSEN: Did you “start at the bottom?” I started at the bottom a) at the Post Office in 1966 when I was 18 as a GS-4, currently $15.85/hour in today’s dollars, b) at IRS in 1971 as a GS-7 Revenue Officer, currently $45,703/year in today’s dollars, and c) at GAO in 1980 as a GS-9 Step 10 Analyst, currently $72,677/year in today’s dollars. If I had been a Democrat, a minority, a female, or a veteran, GAO would not have forced me to “start at the bottom” and suffer a $19,203/year pay cut in today’s dollars. To justify forcing me to “start at the bottom,” GAO dismissed the fact a) that GAO audits IRS, b) that much of what IRS Revenue Officers do is similar to what GAO Analysts do, c) that I had almost 9 years of experience working for IRS, the last 5 1/2 years of which at the GS-12 Step 1-5 levels, currently $81,071-$91,880, d) that I had earned an MBA from Loyola in 1976, e) that I had almost completed the requirements for a master’s degree in accounting from DePaul, and f) that I had passed the CPA examination on my first attempt in 1979.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: We also need to attract new Foreign Service officers. Hiring declined by more than a third from 2016 to 2017, and the number of young people seeking to take the Foreign Service exam has dropped significantly from the rates seen during the previous two administrations. Attracting the right personnel will require Mr. Pompeo to work with Congress and take other steps to change obsolete rules that, for instance, discourage former State Department employees from returning, and require even experienced people to start at the bottom if they have not previously worked in government — denying our diplomatic corps the ability to draw on specialized expertise.)
— Stanford History Event Was ‘Too White and Too Male,’ Organizer Admits – MAYA SALAM (DIERSEN: Ever-increasingly, to get elected/reelected, Democrats and RINOs stress that they want individuals, organizations, companies, governments, and countries to get rid of individuals, organizations, companies, governments, and countries that are Trump supporters, Protestant, conservative, patriotic, Republican, American, White, male, older, rich, gun owners, draft avoiders, German American, and those whose ancestors have been in America for a long time.)

— Distinguished federal employee of the week: This is what you do when asked to lie – Jennifer Rubin (DIERSEN: If you are a non-veteran White male federal employee, to keep your job, you have to falsely say that there is no political affiliation discrimination, no reverse discrimination, no age discrimination, and no retaliation in the federal government. Ironically, one could argue that political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation encourages Democrats, minorities, females, and younger people to become federal employees and remain federal employees.)
