To this day, my critics/opponents a) are terrified of, b) glorify and praise, c) pander to, d) are operatives for, and/or d) are dupes for the home’s builder. CAPITOL FAX
— Gov. Rauner and JB Pritzker both attended Equality Illinois’ Pride Parade reception on Sunday. (DIERSEN: Ever-increasingly, the future looks bleak for those who support the traditional family, right to life, and immigration planks in the Illinois Republican Party (IRP) platform. To promote LGBTQ activity is to dump those voters who support the traditional family plank in the IRP platform. To promote abortion is to dump those voters who support the right to life plank in the IRP platform. To promote illegal immigration is to dump those voters who support the immigration plank in the IRP platform. Ever-increasingly, Rauner seems to promise that if he is reelected, he will drive those who support the aforesaid planks out of the IRP once and for all, that is, that he will destroy the IRP once and for all. If Rauner is reelected, he will dump those who support the aforesaid planks. If Rauner is not reelected, he will blame those who support the aforesaid planks.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Rep. Maxine Waters addressed a rally in Los Angeles on Saturday, June 23, telling a crowd: “If you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them! And you tell them that they are not welcome, anymore, anywhere.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1Fu3g1MGHY In today’s letter to the Office of Congressional Ethics co-chairman, Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton writes: “In encouraging individuals to create “crowds” who will “push back” on President Trump’s Cabinet members at private business establishments and in seemingly trying to prevent these Cabinet officials from obtaining basic necessities without fear of assault and violence, Rep. Waters seems to be violation of House rules, specifically: “A Member, Delegate, Resident Commissioner, officer, or employee of the House shall conduct himself at all times in a manner that shall reflect creditably on the House. [House Rule 23, clause 1.]” We hereby request that the Office of Congressional Ethics conduct a preliminary investigation into whether Rep. Maxine Waters violated House Rules in encouraging attacks on Cabinet officials. “Rep. Maxine Waters incited violence and assault against members of President Trump’s Cabinet,” stated Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “It is urgent that the House ethics quickly act to hold her accountable for this dangerous incitement.”)

I should write a book about a) my GAO superiors who forced me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, gave me unfair performance expectations and appraisals, always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, did not promote me beyond GS-13, got rid of my mentor in 1987, kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and forced me to take an $19,203 pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980; my Democrat IRS superiors who did not promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, got rid of my mentor in 1975, and disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974; and c) my Democrat Post Office superiors who forced me resign in 1969 and disallowed my sick leave requests in 1969 and 1968. http://www.windycitymediagroup.com/lgbt/Mother-Nature-shines-on-49th-Pride-Parade-/63312.html

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Hundreds of thousands of Chicagoans and out-of-towners lined the streets of Lakeview and Uptown for the 49th annual Chicago Pride Parade the afternoon of June 24. Police officials did not yet have attendance figures at the time of publication, but estimates have suggested the crowd measured about one million spectators for the last several years. Those spectators could not have asked for better weather on June 24; after several days of rain and clouds in Chicago, sunny skies returned for Pride weekend and temperatures remained in the 70s for the afternoon of the parade. Community organizations, city agencies, educational and religious institutions, labor unions and LGBT groups from major corporations were among those taking part. Organizers were limited to 150 parade entries, and kicked off from the corner of Broadway and Montrose Avenue shortly after noon. The final float crossed the starting point at about 2:45 p.m. The parade was headed up by members of Scouts for Equality, an organization working to ensure that precepts of equality are carried out within the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), which, at least in units not affiliated with non-affirming faith-based organizations, no longer discriminates against LGBT adults. Cate Readling, vice-president of membership of the BSA’s Pathway to Adventure Council, noted that BSA had recently begun admitting girls as well. “We’re all official now,” Readling said. The Scouts were followed up by Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who briefly spoke alongside Alds. Tom Tunny (44th Ward) and James Cappleman (46th). In his remarks, Emanuel spoke of the city’s “inclusivity” and “belief in equality and tolerance.” With both federal midterm and state gubernatorial elections in November, and a city election in early 2019, politicians were out in full force. J.B. Pritzker (D), who is challenging incumbent Gov. Bruce Rauner (R) in November, said, “We’re [at] a time when Donald Trump has put rights at risk. He has stood up against trans rights and LGBTQ rights, and he stood against children by putting them in detention, children who are here emigrating with their families, separating them. At a time when it feels like government has become an instrument of immorality, I think we need a governor who will stand up for the LGBTQ community and the immigrant community and not be silent in the face of Donald Trump’s attacks.” “We’ve got to stand together so we can all stand for the planet,” said Cameron Davis, formerly President Barack Obama’s “Great Lakes czar,” who is running for a commissioner’s post for the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (MWRD). “It doesn’t get any simpler than that.” Sean Casten, a Democrat who is running against incumbent Peter Roskam (R) in the 6th Congressional District, added, “We are going to come through this horrible time, because there is more love in the world than there is hate, and today we can stay focused on that.” Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle said, “I think it’s important in these times that those of us who are despised minorities in our own country stick together. So I always try to come to this parade and I’m encouraged by the warm reception that I get.” Ald. Raymond Lopez (15th Ward) said that the parade is “not just a celebration but our annual call to arms to defend all required acceptances in our own communities. So I’m glad to be here with our brothers and sisters, making that call for acceptance one more time.” State Rep. Greg Harris (D-Chicago) said, “LGBT people got their rights when we stood up and fought up and fought back against oppression at Stonewall. This country, under Trump, is seeing oppression unlike what we’ve seen before, not only for LGBT people, but for our immigrant communities and people of color [as well]. We need to stand together in solidarity.” Other politicians who either attended and/or sent delegations included U.S. Reps. Mike Quigley (D-6th), Robin Kelly (D-2nd) and Jan Schakowsky (D-9th); Illinois Treasurer Mike Frerichs; state Comptroller Susana Mendoza; Democratic state Reps. Kelly Cassidy, Sara Feigenholtz and Juliana Stratton (running with Pritzker); City Clerk Anna Valencia; and Deb Mell was among several other aldermen marching. Mayoral candidates included Lori Lightfoot (marching with her wife), Paul Vallas, Dorothy Brown, Gary McCarthy and Ja’Mal Green. MWRD Board President Maryana Spyropulos and MWRD Commissioners Debra Shore and Kari Steele also attended, as did Cook County Commission candidate Kevin Morrison and Berwyn School Board Member Julia McAleer-Forte. Orlando “El Fenomeno” Cruz, the first openly gay active professional boxer, was grand marshal. Educational institutions participating included Nettelhorst School; Chicago Waldorf School; Francis W. Parker School & Catherine Cook School; Elmhurst College; Rush University; Truman College and other City Colleges; University of Illinois at Chicago; University of Chicago; and Northwestern University. Among local consulates participating were Australia (for the first time), Ireland, Great Britain, Canada and Israel. Advocacy organizations and agencies included American Veterans for Equal Rights (carrying their large American flag), ACLU of Illinois, Asians and Friends Chicago, La Casa Norte, Chicago Black Gay Men’s Caucus, PFLAG, Night Ministry, Lambda Legal, Equality Illinois, Planned Parenthood, Chicago Gender Society (marching with Heels & Hardhats), The Legacy Project, LGBT Chamber of Commerce of Illinois, Howard Brown Health, TPAN, Project VIDA; Thresholds, About Face Theatre, Windy City Performing Arts, Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus, Center on Halsted, ForeskinPride.org, AARP of Illinois, the National Gay Pilots Association, Human Rights Campaign, Mercy for Animals and the Obama Foundation. Lakeside Pride had dozens of its members performing during the parade. Also working hard were ROTC, Chicago Spirit Brigade and the Second City Outlaws dancing cowboys. There were three motorcycle groups this year, but not Dykes on Bikes: Bikes & Mics, Chicago Gay Bikers and Organized Chaos all powered through the route. Gay Liberation Network’s large contingent was largely focused on Palestinian rights for their entry. Both professional and amateur sports teams and organizations were represented, among them Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bulls, Chicago Blackhawks, Chicago Fire, Chicago Dragons, Chicago Smelts, Chicago Gay Hockey Association and Chicago Metropolitan Sports Association. Local businesses included Sidetrack, Roscoe’s, Balloons by Tommy, Evanston Subaru in Skokie, Broadway in Chicago, GRAB and Goose Island Beer. Dozens of area churches took part in Chicago Welcoming Churches’ entry, shouting, “God is love” as they traversed the parade route. Persons from Chicago-area synagogues also marched together. Labor Unions and trade organizations included Chicago Women in Trades, Local 881 United Food and Commercial Workers, Chicago Teachers Union, United Here Local 1 and SEIU Illinois. Among corporations represented by their LGBT groups were MB Financial Bank, Discover Financial Services, Bank of America, ComEd, Anheuser-Busch, Gap, Bloomingdales, Salesforce, Macy’s, Boeing, American Airlines, United Airlines, Hyatt Hotels, Hilton Hotels, Facebook, Google, Johnson & Johnson, Chipotle, WGN, Fox 32, ABC 7, NBC 5, Univision, Deloite, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, AT&T, Comcast, T-Mobile and Pepsico. MWRD Commisioner Debra Shore, shortly before the parade started, commented on how the LGBT community cuts across every sector of society, especially in terms of “race, class and gender,” adding, “That’s why it’s so important for us to stand up for others and for them to see us stand together in all our diversity.”)

— Activists ask board to make Sangamon ‘gun sanctuary’ county – John Reynolds
http://www.sj-r.com/news/20180612/activists-ask-board-to-make-sangamon-gun-sanctuary-county
(FROM THE ARTICLE: “Tonight, I ask you to please consider protecting your constituents and the voters and the taxpayers of Sangamon County,” said Springfield resident Rosanna Pulido. “Please pass a resolution to make Sangamon County a sanctuary for gun owners.” Other Illinois counties, including nearby Christian County, have adopted gun sanctuary resolutions. The terminology comes from so-called sanctuary cities, such as Chicago, that don’t cooperate with aspects of federal immigration enforcement. Speaking before the meeting, Sangamon County Administrator Brian McFadden said the county has an informal policy that it does not weigh in on symbolic measures that are outside its regulatory authority. Even if the county were to pass a gun sanctuary resolution, it would not affect the enforcement of federal, state or local gun laws. . .“This is not a symbolic resolution. It is a defense of the Constitutional principle. It is incumbent on our local elected officials to make sure their constituents’ voices are heard by the state in regards to protecting the Constitution. You took an oath of office to that effect,” Pulido said. Pulido, as well as Springfield residents Tom Shafer and Lynn Wilson, spoke at the end of the county board meeting. Board members did not comment or ask them any questions.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Harris said the auditor’s position by statute can be filled by anybody off the street, and the county wants more experience. “I’m not saying we’ve got bad people, but we want more stability in the job,” said Harris. “We want to know that we have an accounting professional in the job. “We know some of our audits haven’t been completed. The main job is compliance, and some audits just haven’t been completed over the years. It’s not against the person that’s on the job, it’s the knowledge to do the audit. We can’t guarantee consistent qualifications in the job through the process that we have. We would like to bring in talent that can do it, can see it. Anybody can come on the job and learn it, but we want our auditor to have a CIA, Certified Internal Auditor.” The county is not seeking professionals in other elected posts. Hranka said under statute, the sheriff, coroner and others are not required to have experience in the field pertaining to the position they are running for. She said the board allows her only $2,000 for continuing education even though she is required to do 20 hours per year.)

http://www.telegraphherald.com/ap/national/article_2a180d26-6abd-5e63-801b-595d374b1ec0.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Lamanta Reese lived much of his gang life in virtual reality, posting videos on YouTube of him and others taunting rivals. He died at age 19 in the real world, bleeding from his head onto a porch on Chicago’s South Side after one of those gang rivals, prosecutors say, shot him 11 times. Another possible factor in his slaying: A smiley-face emoji Reese posted that the suspected gunman may have interpreted as a slight about his mom. Gangs’ embrace of social media to goad foes or conceal drug dealing in emoji-laden text is the biggest change in how gangs operate compared with 10 years ago, according to new law enforcement data provided exclusively to The Associated Press ahead of its release Tuesday by the Chicago Crime Commission. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other sites have radically altered gang culture in Chicago. They are having a similar influence on gangs nationwide. These days, there is nearly always a link between an outbreak of gang violence and something online, said Rodney Phillips, a gang-conflict mediator working in the low-income Englewood neighborhood where Reese lived and died. When he learns simmering tensions have spilled into violence, he no longer goes first to the streets. “I Google it,” Phillips said. “I look on YouTube and Facebook. Today, that’s how you follow the trail of a conflict.”)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The Pritzker campaign wasted no time hanging President Donald Trump around Gov. Bruce Rauner’s neck on Tuesday, just hours after the governor made a rare positive statement about the Trump White House. He did it, of course, without saying the president’s name. “I am very proud of what’s been going on in the federal government, Congress, and the White House,” Rauner said at a Downstate stop. Rauner is well aware that if he hopes to have any chance in November, he needs to reach out to the Republican base in southern Illinois, which is solid Trump country. Look no further than Rep. Mark Sanford’s loss last night, after Trump tweeted support for Sanford’s opponent, state Rep. Katie Arrington, as evidence of what can happen to Republicans who dump on Trump.)

DAILY SIGNAL
— Trump Executive Orders Are Surprisingly Popular With Federal Employees – John York (DIERSEN: The Democrats who run the federal government use Affirmative Action, Diversity, and Inclusion to get rid of their employees who are Republican, White, male, older, and/or non-veteran. My Democrat superiors in the federal government acted like their employees who were Democrat, minority, female, younger, and/or veteran wanted them to get rid of their employees who were Republican, White, male, older, and/or non-veteran. Assessing job performance is extremely subjective. The Democrats who run the federal government use that subjectivity to get rid of federal employee who are Republican, White, male, and/or non-veteran who they did not promote to GS-13 (currently $96,403) by age 25, GS-14 (currently $113,920) by age 30, GS-15 (currently $134,000) by age 35, and Senior Executive Service (currently $164,200) by age 40.)
https://www.dailysignal.com/2018/06/12/trump-executive-orders-are-surprisingly-popular-with-federal-employees/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: When President Donald Trump recently issued three executive orders that made it easier to fire poorly performing government employees, the backlash from public-sector unions was fierce. Union leaders did not like it—one called it an “assault on federal employees.” But a recent poll shows a slight majority of government workers—51 percent—supports the administration’s efforts. Moreover, only 24 percent of federal employees oppose the recent executive orders and another quarter are unsure. The level of support among federal workers for executive orders that will make it easier to fire them is surprising, but only at first glance. In fact, Trump’s executive orders represent modest reforms that will not affect the vast majority of employees and, in fact, likely will improve their working conditions. For instance, one of the new executive orders imposes a 30-day limit on the time an agency can give an employee to improve his poor performance before being fired. When a federal manager determines that an employee is not up to the job, he must present that employee with a performance improvement plan as a last-ditch effort to turn his performance around. Prior to the president’s executive order, agencies set the length of this grace period, which stretched to 120 days in some cases. The new executive order also gives managers more freedom to decide how to punish misconduct. Prior to Trump’s executive orders, managers were ordinarily bound to progress through lesser disciplinary steps from verbal warning and written notices to suspensions, demotions, and removal from the civil service. Now, managers are free to choose a punishment that fits the crime. Some federal employees no doubt take advantage of their insulation from accountability, but most civil servants are hard-working and dedicated—a fact attested to by the 70 percent customer satisfaction rate among those who receive some federal service. These diligent workers must pick up the slack for those who do not do their share, then are sometimes denied opportunities for advancement by the dead weight above them. And, as anyone who has worked in an office environment knows, unmotivated and unruly co-workers can take a heavy toll on morale. So, although a few bad apples may prefer to keep the status quo, it is not surprising most federal employees welcome these provisions of the president’s executive orders.)

https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/personalfinance/retirement/2018/06/12/these-retirement-cuts-threaten-millions-of-workers/35914843/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: There’s a lot of debate about the differences in working conditions that public-sector and private-sector workers face. Some private-sector workers who have seen many of their employee benefits deteriorate or disappear entirely over the years believe their public-sector counterparts get benefit packages that are too expensive for taxpayers to maintain. Public-sector employees can point to base salaries that have historically often been lower than what they could make in the private sector as a justification for additional benefits to make up the difference.)

https://communityjournal.net/3-surprises-to-watch-out-for-when-paying-for-long-term-care/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: More than 70 percent of Americans over the age of 65 will need long-term health care services, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Yet, according to the Employee Benefit Research Institute, only 13 percent of those who received professional home health care had long-term insurance policies, which can protect seniors from high out-of-pocket costs. “There is a wide gap of people without long-term care insurance (LTCI), and some of the alternatives carry little-known laws and legal liabilities that can pose a problem to the care recipient and their family, says CHRIS ORESTIS, Executive Vice President of GWG Life (www.gwglife.com ) and author of the books Help on the Way and A Survival Guide to Aging. “The growing long-term care funding crisis has brought lawsuits and mandated claw-back actions against families in attempts to recover monies spent on long-term care,” Orestis says. “There is a growing need for consumers to consider all their available financial options to fund long-term care, and that can include selling a life insurance policy.” “Often the weight for long-term care falls on the family, and they need to avoid a financial surprise that can come late in life for their loved ones.”)

Of course, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes side with my Democrat superiors in the federal government against me: My Democrat GAO superiors forced me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, gave me unfair performance expectations and appraisals, always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, did not promote me beyond GS-13, got rid of my mentor in 1987, kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and forced me to take an $19,203 pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980. My Democrat IRS superiors did not promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, got rid of my mentor in 1975, and disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974. My Democrat Post Office superiors forced me resign in 1969 and disallowed my sick leave requests in 1969 and 1968.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Our next guest is Republican Congressman Peter Roskam, who represents an Illinois district near Chicago. Welcome to the program. PETER ROSKAM: Thank you for having me on. SHAPIRO: You’ve supported targeted measures on some steel imports like those from China. What makes these different? ROSKAM: What makes these different is these are going after our allies with whom we really have no conflict. And I think that this will have an adverse impact on small manufacturers in my constituency that I’ve heard directly from – and not just the manufacturers but obviously their employees and clearly American consumers. I think the smarter move is for us to focus our time and energy on China, which – there’s all kinds of trade infractions. And this is not well-placed resources in a fight that we really shouldn’t be having right now. SHAPIRO: President Trump doesn’t appear to be backing down. Do you think it’s now the role of Congress to stop him through legislation? ROSKAM: So the challenge with stopping the president through legislation obviously is the president would have to sign the bill. So said another way, these original trade structures were put in place to give presidents authorities to ease up on trade tariffs and to make it easier for commerce to pass between countries. It was not necessarily contemplated that you’d have a president that was tougher on a country than Congress was. So I think we’re very much in the persuasion mode. I had a meeting today along with some others with Secretary Ross. I’m heading into a meeting with Ambassador Lighthizer, giving voice to these concerns. And I think when push comes to shove, one of the voices that’s going to have a disproportionately significant impact is American agriculture because they’re ashen-faced at the idea of getting into a trade war.)

They stressed the new cars, real estate, vacations, collector cars, etc. that I bought. They stressed the money that I spent on tuition and books to earn job-related master’s degrees and job-related professional certifications. They painted themselves as being hardworking employees who had financial problems and who needed promotions.)
https://www.wthr.com/article/iowa-gop-zero-in-on-wealth-of-democratic-governor-candidate

(FROM THE ARTICLE: For a Republican Party that celebrates capitalism and the American dream of building wealth, the GOP’s initial line of attack against the new Iowa Democratic nominee for governor appears a bit out of character. Fred Hubbell, a former life insurance executive whose family wealth dates back to the mid-1800s, won the Democratic nomination Tuesday and will face Gov. Kim Reynolds in November. Almost immediately, Reynolds and party leaders questioned how voters could trust a candidate who was born rich and later served in leadership roles at several companies. Hubbell’s family businesses in Des Moines include ties to real estate and insurance. “The issue isn’t that Fred Hubbell has been rich his entire life, it’s that he has no idea what it’s like not to be,” said Reynolds during her election night speech. “He has no idea what it’s like to balance a family checkbook or to make the tough decisions most of us make each and every day when we’re trying to make ends meet.” Republican Party of Iowa Chairman Jeff Kaufmann has chimed in by repeatedly referring to Hubbell, 67, as “Prince Frederick.” On election night, the party posted a photo-shopped image of Hubbell on its Facebook page as the Monopoly board game mascot, with a top hat, monocle and bags of money surrounding him. Never mind that Reynolds and Iowa GOP party leaders are big supporters of President Donald Trump, a rich businessman who surrounds himself with conspicuous wealth at his lavish properties such as Mar-a-Lago. In the Iowa governor’s race between a woman of modest means and a man who donated nearly $3 million of his own money toward his primary race, the GOP so far is zeroing in on personal wealth. It’s a strategy tried before as more rich candidates run for office from both parties, many of them also funneling millions of dollars to fund their own campaigns. In neighboring Illinois, for example, Democrat J.B. Pritzker, a billionaire member of the family that founded Hyatt hotels, has put more than $100 million of his own money into his bid to unseat Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner, a wealthy former private equity investor. When he won in 2014, Rauner was accused of trying to buy the election.)

http://www.dailyherald.com/news/20180607/comedy-central-show-pokes-fun-at-libertarian-governor-candidate-kash-jackson
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Klepper poked fun at Jackson during a May 30 segment called “Fringewatch: 2018.” In the segment, Klepper ribbed Jackson for changing his name from Benjamin Winderweedle in 2017, accusations made by the ex-wife regarding the way Jackson punished his children, and the size of Jackson’s belt buckle. . .On May 31, Lake County Judge Joseph Salvi ruled Jackson is in contempt of court for not paying money he owes his ex-wife for child support, education, and other related expenses. Jackson has until Aug. 6 to pay his ex-wife more than $3,000 or face incarceration for up to six months, court records show. Jackson has repeatedly said he’s a victim of a rigged legal system that forces him to pay excessive amounts to see his children. He has said he is unemployed and living exclusively on disability and pension payments from serving 20 years in the Navy. He’s said in court he takes home about $4,500 a month from those benefits. Payments for his children total about $2,500 per month, an amount Jackson said in court that he can’t afford. Parental rights is a key campaign issue for Jackson, who was named the Libertarian gubernatorial candidate in March.)

Very few accept job offers from IRS because IRS employees are viciously demonized, viciously denigrated, and viciously condemned. Factors that encouraged me to accept IRS’s offer included a) I was unemployed because Firestone had fired me because I had accepted a job offer from Oldsmobile, but Oldsmobile had withdrawn that offer saying that it had just agreed to stop hiring Whites to settle an EEOC complaint, b) I had been granted a financial hardship draft deferment to help support my mother and brother, and c) I would start with almost 3 years of federal seniority and lots of sick leave because I had worked for the Post Office 1966-1969 and had used virtually none of the sick leave that I had earned.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Under President Donald Trump, cable television is rapidly becoming the government’s new pardons office. On Thursday, former CIA officer John Kiriakou became the latest person to take to the talk-show circuit, making a direct appeal to the president to wipe clean his conviction for leaking the identity of a fellow CIA officer. “I would be forever indebted to him for a pardon,” Kiriakou said during an interview on “Fox & Friends” on Fox News, a program that Trump often watches as part of his morning routine. Kiriakou was charged in 2012 with leaking classified information about the CIA waterboarding of an al-Qaida suspect at a secret site in Thailand. He argued Thursday that he was unfairly targeted by former CIA director John Brennan, who has since become a vocal critic of Trump’s actions related to the Russian investigation and other matters.)

My Democrat IRS superiors did not promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, got rid of my mentor in 1975, and disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974. https://chicago.suntimes.com/news/chance-the-rapper-joining-st-sabina-peace-rally/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Wow! Sneed was surprised not to see a mention of legendary conservative maven Phyllis Schlafly when Illinois permitted ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment last week. In all due respect, Schlafly must have been turning over in her grave. Who was Schlafly? Dubbed the first lady of the conservative movement, Schlafly was credited by some historians as the reason the ERA failed to pass in Illinois! The ERA Amendment lost steam in the late 1970s because of the work of Schlafly’s “volunteer brigades,” who were known to cajole legislators with apple pies. As the nation’s most famous anti-feminist during the rebirth of the Women’s Liberation Movement decades — she was also the president of the Illinois Federation of Republican Women from 1956 to 1964. She wore her hair up, she did not burn her bra, and you just knew she wore a girdle. For a journalist in the late ’60s and ’70s, Schlafly’s name was in your Rolodex. When Schlafly died in 2016, at the age of 92, her New York Times obit described her as being one of the most polarizing figures in American public life, a self-described housewife with “a moral ferocity reminiscent of the ax-wielding prohibitionist Carry Nation.” She was a remarkable woman who, thank goodness, did not get the last word in the ongoing fight for a woman’s equal rights.)

— Never Mind the News Media: Politicians Test Direct-to-Voter Messaging – Sydney Ember (DIERSEN: Should I write a book about politicians who do NOT want you to first learn of anything by reading GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails? They want you to known only want they tell you, no more and no less. They do NOT want me to know about their events or their other activities. They do NOT want me to promote their events or their other activities. They do NOT want me to attend their events. They do not want me to report on their events or their other activities.)
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/05/31/us/politics/bernie-sanders-town-hall.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: These media methods have obvious appeal: Politicians can appear accessible but remain insulated from the press. They are also not altogether new. President Trump eschewed traditional television advertising during the 2016 campaign and can now overshadow even his own party’s message at the drop of a tweet. And many politicians have long made a practice of ducking reporters. Yet several factors have converged to elevate the practice: Fake news and false information about politics have proliferated; the public’s trust in the mainstream media is low; and social media platforms make unfiltered messaging easier than ever. As a result, there is a new urgency among politicians to deliver talking points directly. Some two-thirds of Americans get at least some of their news on social media, according to a recent Pew Research Center report. “Bernie and others are trying to find other ways that they can more directly connect with people,” said Guy Cecil, the chairman of Priorities USA, a Democratic “super PAC.” Many politicians blame the news media for the shift, claiming dishonest coverage has left them no other choice.)
— DIERSEN HEADLINE: Did your mother stay home and raise you. My mother did. According to my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes, a) that gave me a tremendous unfair advantage in life and b) that proved that my parents were undeservedly filthy rich. In my defense, my outstanding parents never attended college. My mother never attended high school. My father fought type 1 diabetes from age 14, was the first of his ancestors to earn a high school diploma, worked in the office of a nasty chemical plant, almost always worked second jobs to pay the family’s bills, and did not buy a new car until he was 45, and it was a bottom of the line 2-door Chevy.

What if I had NOT taken their early retirement “offer?” I would NOT have again been eligible to retire for 6 years, that is, until I was 55 years old in 2003. If I had NOT taken their early retirement “offer,” my Democrat GAO superiors had promised to make my next 6 years a living hell. Who would have come to my defense? Based on how they and their staffs have treated me since 1997, no Illinois Republican U.S. Senator and no Illinois U.S. Representative would have come to my defense. Of course, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes hint/imply/argue/shout that if Illinois Republican U.S. Senators and Illinois U.S. Representatives or their staffs had come to my defense, I would still be a TAPROOT Republicans of Illinois chairman, Wheaton Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee member, Milton Township Republican Central Committee webmaster, Illinois Center Right Coalition Steering Committee member, American Association of Political Consultants Midwest Chapter board member, etc. My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes hint/imply/argue/shout that my Illinois Republican U.S. Senators and my Illinois U.S. Representatives and their staffs a) have dumped me, b) have thrown me under the bus, and c) have flushed me down the toilet.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The Republican Evans would have Democratic Rep. Mike Halpin in November should he remain on the ballot. But Mielke and several party officials this week sought the suspension of Evans’ campaign after a background check uncovered a raft of charges related to domestic violence stretching back decades. While most were dropped, an Indiana judge issued a warrant for Evans arrest after he failed to appear for a probation hearing. In 2009, Evans’ wife filed an emergency order of protection. (FROM THE ARTICLE: The New Hampshire Republican Party continues to support marriage as only between one man and one woman in its platform, despite the efforts of a former chairman. Jennifer Horn, former state party chairman, was excluded from participating in the state party convention over the weekend on a technicality. She had sought to amend the party’s platform plank on marriage, which states that party members: “Recognize marriage as the legal and sacred union between one man and one woman as ordained by God, encouraged by the state and traditional to humankind, and the core of the family.” Horn also wanted to change the party’ support for “traditional families” to “nurturing families,” according to The Union Leader. https://www.theknifemedia.com/world-news/elon-musk-plans-media-credibility-site-medias-response-may-support-argument/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Elon Musk tweets about media, creating a site to rate journalists On Wednesday, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk tweeted, “The holier-than-thou hypocrisy of big media companies who lay claim to the truth, but publish only enough to sugarcoat the lie, is why the public no longer respects them.” Musk later tweeted, “Going to create a site where the public can rate the core truth of any article & track the credibility score over time of each journalist, editor & publication. Thinking of calling it Pravda ….” . . . The media’s response to Elon Musk’s comments may have done more to support his argument than to refute it. In many cases, news outlets distorted their coverage with sensational language, one-sided reporting and faulty reasoning. This is reflected in The Knife’s objectivity ratings, which found The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post and USA Today scored between 35 and 42 percent out of 100. These low scores may highlight the importance of applying standards that can hold news outlets accountable for distorted reporting. There are four parts to The Knife’s ratings — spin (the amount of subjective and dramatic language in an article), slant (how much an article supports a single viewpoint), logic (the amount of faulty reasoning in an article), and data (inaccuracies and missing information). Below we’ll examine how spin, slant and faulty reasoning contributed to the overall objectivity ratings for these outlets.)

But what about those who falsely state that they are religious, conservative, and/or Republican who read the emails to get information to:

– Dump the traditional family plank in the Republican Party platform,
– Dump the right to life plank in the platform,
– Dump the immigration plank in the platform,

– Dump the equal opportunity (no race or gender based preference giving) plank in the platform,

May 25 Morning Edition

GOPUSA ILLINOIS
— He who pays the piper calls the tunes. Political parties exist to help elect candidates who can and will defend and advance their platform. What percent of money given to Republican activists, to Republican candidates, to Republican elected officials, and to Republican party leaders is given to get the aforesaid to:

– Dump the right to life plank in the platform,
– Dump the immigration plank in the platform,
– Dump the illegal drugs plank in the platform,
– Dump the Second Amendment plank in the platform,

– Promote legislation that promotes their personal financial and other interests, and
– Dump those individuals, organizations, companies, governments, etc. that fail/refuse to promote the aforesaid?

Needless-to-say, Republican activists, Republican candidates, Republican elected officials, and Republican party leaders should not seek or accept money from individuals, organizations, companies, etc. that want to dump planks in the Republican Party platform or to promote anything that is anti-Republican. – Dave Diersen

POLITICO
— VERY SAD: Trump donor to cut off GOP contributions over DACA – NATASHA KORECKI (DIERSEN: Overwhelmingly, those who support DACA are anti-Trump, anti-Protestant, anti-conservative, anti-patriotic, anti-Republican, anti-American, anti-White, anti-male, anti-older people, anti-rich people, anti-gun owners, anti-German Americans, and/or anti-those whose ancestors have been in America for a long time.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: A Chicago-area businessman who has donated more than $1 million to President Donald Trump is threatening to deny contributions to Republican candidates unless they act on an immigration bill before Congress. David MacNeil, who employs 1,600 people through his Bolingbrook-based WeatherTech automotive company, told POLITICO in an interview that the issue has grown deeply personal, given that a top employee in his company could face deportation if a deal isn’t reached for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. MacNeil is the second prominent Chicago-area businessman and GOP donor in a week to cut off or threaten to withhold campaign contributions over the immigration debate. On Wednesday, former Exelon CEO John Rowe told POLITICO he would cut off resources to Republicans who refuse to sign onto a discharge petition that would force a vote on legislation related to so-called “Dreamers,” while rewarding those who did with contributions and fundraising events. Both Rowe and MacNeil belong to the Illinois Business Immigration Coalition, which is calling on GOP lawmakers to sign the DACA discharge petition. “I’m saying this as a political donor who’s donated seven figures in the last couple of years: I will not donate any more money to anyone who doesn’t support DACA, period,” MacNeil said in a phone call while traveling in Italy. “I’m putting my money where my mouth is.” MacNeil is among the CEOs who backed Trump before the 2016 election, inspired by the campaign’s “Make America Great Again,” mantra. A Canadian emigrant who is now a U.S. citizen, MacNeil has long touted that his own products are made in America. He underwrote a Trump fundraiser in Bolingbrook just before the 2016 election, then gave $1 million to Trump’s inaugural committee. MacNeil said that a top-performing employee who has been with him for more than 10 years will represent the WeatherTech at the Governor’s Export Awards reception Thursday night, in which the company is a finalist. The employee was brought to the country as a toddler.)

CHICAGO TRIBUNE
— Ives backer Uihlein tells magazine he’ll vote for Rauner over Pritzker – Rick Pearson (DIERSEN: Obviously, Rauner’s political consultants tell him a) that Republicans will vote for him no matter what because Pritzker rejects more planks in the Illinois Republican Party (IRP) platform than he does, b) that Rauner should focus on getting votes from those who reject planks in the IRP platform, and c) that means dumping voters, dumping organizations, dumping companies, dumping etc. that support the traditional family, right to life, immigration, Second Amendment, and other planks in IRP platform. Further, obviously, Rauner’s political consultants tell him that more anti-Trumps than pro-Trumps will vote in the November 6, 2018 election, so he should dump voters, dump organizations, dump companies, dump etc. that support Trump. Needless-to-say, no political consultant who is a Republican would give Rauner the aforesaid advice.)
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/politics/ct-met-richard-uihlein-bruce-rauner-20180524-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: But Uihlein broke from Rauner after his signature on legislation expanding taxpayer-subsidized abortions and backed Ives, the three-term Wheaton Republican who narrowly lost to Rauner in March. Uihlein gave her $2.5 million. “Jeanne proved that people are hungry for change,” Uihlein says in the article. Author John J. Miller writes that Uihlein is “now skeptical about Rauner’s ability to deliver (change) but says that the Democratic gubernatorial candidate, J.B. Pritzker, would be a disaster for Illinois: ‘I will vote for Rauner over Pritzker.’ ” State Sen. Sam McCann, a Republican from Downstate Plainview, is also mounting a third-party bid. The article also recounts how Uihlein met John Tillman, chairman and CEO of the Illinois Policy Institute. Last decade, Tillman was looking for work after selling his used sporting goods store. “I’d been getting the Uline catalog for a while,” Tillman said. “So I wrote a letter to the owner.” The article says Tillman and Uihlein met, but their conversation turned to what was described as “Tillman’s real passion: creating a network of freedom-minded organizations in Illinois.” “Dick became my anchor donor,” Tillman says in the article, adding that Uihlein gave him $50,000 in seed money to start the institute. Millions more from Uihlein have flowed since. In February, Rauner said he wouldn’t give the institute “another nickel.”)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Not mentioned in the article is Uihlein’s relationship with conservative talk show host and political operative Dan Proft, who played a leading role in Ives’ campaign for governor. Uihlein gave $95,000 to Proft’s failed bid for the GOP governor nomination in 2010, then gave him an additional $500,000 later to help seed Proft’s political operation. Since then, Uihlein has given Proft’s Liberty Principles political action committee $12.1 million, including $3 million in January. And Uihlein has become a prolific donor to federal candidates, including giving $100,000 to a super PAC backing Republican Roy Moore in a special Senate election in Alabama. Moore was accused of sexually molesting or assaulting teens ages 14 and 16 while he was in his 30s. Moore denied the allegations but lost the election to Democrat Doug Jones.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The Illinois Republican Party did not respond to a request for comment. Another Illinois Republican nominee for a House seat, neo-Nazi Arthur Jones, has been rejected by national Republicans and the state party for denying the Holocaust. In a 2014 post, Fawell speculated that New York City was going to be destroyed in a false flag attack by the deep state in either the year 2016 or 2017. New York City is going to be destroyed in the biggest, baddest false flag attack ever made by any organization upon the American People in a Pearl Harbor redux,” Fawell wrote. (False flag attacks are acts designed by perpetrators to look like they were carried out by other individuals or groups.) He said that the attack would be made in an attempt to drag America into war, and that financial institutions were already withdrawing money from New York in preparation for the supposed attack. In another post in 2014, he wrote that then-President Barack Obama created false flag attacks to shore up support for his foreign policy intervention against ISIS. In addition to alleging conspiracies, Fawell used sexist and racist slurs against politicians.)

http://www.sacbee.com/news/article211891489.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Military veterans who were discharged for relatively minor offenses say they often can’t get jobs, and they hope a recent warning to employers by the state of Connecticut will change that. The state’s human rights commission told employers last month they could be breaking the law if they discriminate against veterans with some types of less-than-honorable discharges. Blanket policies against hiring such veterans could be discriminatory, the commission said, because the military has issued them disproportionately to black, Latino, gay and disabled veterans. At least one other state, Illinois, already prohibits hiring discrimination based on a veteran’s discharge status, advocates say, but Connecticut appears to be the first to base its decision on what it deems discrimination by the military. Regardless of the state’s reasons, veterans say, the attention there could at least educate employers.)

https://capitolfax.com/2018/05/24/live-session-coverage-350/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Ives Calls for Party Leadership to Resign, Party Leaders Fight About Unity in First 2 Days This week was supposed to be a celebration of unity for Governor Bruce Rauner after he surrendered full control of the Illinois Republican Party, but it quickly fell apart for the nation’s most vulnerable incumbent. On Monday, state Representative Jeanne Ives called on the entire Republican Party leadership to resign. Then, local Republican leaders Pat Brady and Dan Proft fought in a panel titled “The Future of the Republican Party in Illinois” yesterday, even though Rauner is a sitting governor up for re-election. At one point, Proft sarcastically stated: “Right, but we can expect to unify the party and present an attractive offer when Pat is running around saying John Tillman, Dan Proft, everyone that disagrees with me is a hater, and just dismissing all the policy concerns of the conservative base of the party and telling everyone to get out. I mean, if we’re all unified, Pat, I’m sorry I guess this lunch is dismissed because we have nothing to talk about…We are on our way to super majorities and Republican Governors as far as the eye can see, and anyone who believes that please feel free to leave and get on with your day.” It did not appear that anyone left. “Bruce Rauner’s party cannot even last a day pretending like they’re unified without falling into chaos,” said DGA Illinois Communications Director Sam Salustro. “After 48% of Republicans voted to kick Rauner out, it’s not surprising that the nation’s most vulnerable incumbent is finding it impossible to put his party back together.”)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Chicago Public Schools’ inspector general is calling on the school district to stop offering a free full-day Montessori preschool to students from the richest neighborhood in the school district. Preschool in Chicago is typically only free for low-income students. But the tuition-free preschool at Oscar Mayer Elementary School in Lincoln Park almost exclusively serves students who live in a neighborhood of mostly upper-income homes. CPS spends about $700,000 a year on the preschool, according to a report released Wednesday. A comparable private preschool could charge parents as much as $15,000 a year. CPS Inspector General Nicholas Schuler said he was “incredulous” that there would be “this perk, for one neighborhood school, as opposed to all other schools.” The average median family income in Mayer’s attendance area — nearly $178,000 a year — is the highest of any attendance area in CPS, an analysis by the IG’s office determined.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: “The message is very clear. Speak out against the Speaker and people loyal to him will come after you.” Those words, spoken Tuesday by Democratic state Rep. Kelly Cassidy, sadly sum up Michael Madigan’s despot-like reign over Illinois politics for more than three decades. Madigan, of course, is the “Speaker” in Cassidy’s comment. He has been Illinois’ House speaker for all but two years since 1983. He’s also been the chairman of the state Democratic Party since 1998, a position Democrats re-elected him to just last month despite a #MeToo harassment scandal swirling within his political organization. As the longest-serving legislative leader in American history and the longest-serving head of a major political party in Illinois history, Madigan wields more power than any other elected state official in the country and more than any single individual should be allowed to have. He controls the party’s campaign war chest, so he decides which Democratic candidates to fund in primary elections. He controls the rules for moving legislation through his chamber, so he decides which bills get to be voted on and which do not. He controls the legislative redistricting process, so he manipulates general elections. And because of all that, he controls the members of his Democratic caucus. Gessy Toussaint’s attorney described Wednesday’s verdict against Brigham and Women’s Hospital as “monumental.” The Boston Globe reports that Toussaint also had accused the hospital of racial discrimination, but the jury didn’t find proof of that claim. Toussaint says the retaliation started after she defended another Haitian-American nurse, Nirva Berthold, who also is suing the hospital. Berthold says she was denied a promotion because she’s black. That claim is still pending. The hospital says it plans to appeal the retaliation ruling but is pleased with the decision on Toussaint’s discrimination claim.)

— State central committeeman Winchester sues state GOP; case removed to federal court
https://madisonrecord.com/stories/511424774-state-central-committeeman-winchester-sues-state-gop-case-removed-to-federal-court
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Bob Winchester, central committeeman of the Illinois Republican Party since 1992, claims in U.S. district court that the party rigged an election against him. His lawyer, Stephen Boulton of Chicago, alleges that the party improperly favored State Sen. Chapin Rose of Champaign for committeeman in an election on April 18. According to Boulton’s complaint, irregularities occurred at county conventions across the 15th Congressional district. He wrote that irregularities changed the vote “from the true result, a majority in favor of Winchester, to a false result, an alleged majority in favor of Rose.” In an interview on May 21, Boulton said that he had “a number” of affidavits from Madison County which demonstrate that Bob Winchester won the election. Last month, the Record reported that precinct committee men and women in Madison County chose Winchester over Rose by a margin of approximately 60 to 40 percent, and then as a sign of unity voted by acclamation to place 100 percent of the county’s vote in favor of Winchester. Winchester filed the suit in Hardin County, against state central committee members and State Board of Elections members who certified Rose’s election. The party removed the action to federal court on May 18. Boulton’s complaint described a county convention where, “only Rose was presented as a candidate for whom votes could be cast.” “Rose alone was nominated, and by the chairman of the convention,” the complaint states. He wrote that the chairman reported a unanimous vote for Rose to party staff. Boulton said it happened in Fayette County, where Randy Pollard serves as county GOP chairman. “It was over in 45 seconds,” Boulton said. “No understood what happened.” In the complaint, he wrote that several county chairmen reported incorrect results to staff, favoring Rose and that county chairmen and staff acted as agents of the state party. He wrote that the party, through staff, participated in the election by recruiting candidates and directing candidates to withdraw. He wrote that staff opposed Winchester due to “a strong likelihood of losing their positions if the present chairman is not re-elected.” The central committee re-elected its chairman, Tim Schneider, on May 19. Boulton said the committee seated Rose over an objection. “We expected that,” he said. “If Winchester was sitting there rather than Rose, the outcome might have been different.” The court clerk assigned the action to District Judge Staci Yandle.)

PRAIRIE STATE WIRE
— Sen. Rose ‘railroaded’ over incumbent by GOP in State Central Committeeman race, affidavit says – Karen Kidd
https://prairiestatewire.com/stories/511425048-sen-rose-railroaded-over-incumbent-by-gop-in-state-central-committeeman-race-affidavit-says
(FROM THE ARTICLE: A Fayette County Precinct committeeman said he was “confused” by a “nomination process” in April that somehow led to a win for state Sen. Chapin Rose (R-Mahomet) over Robert Winchester, the longtime incumbent in the race for Republican State Central Committeeman in the 15th Congressional District, according to an affidavit obtained by Prairie State Wire. “After this sequence of rapid nomination and voice vote on closing nominations, which in my best estimate took much less than a minute, I turned to a colleague and asked, ‘What just happened?’,” Fayette County Precinct Committeeman Glen Mills said in the affidavit filed with the Illinois Board of Elections. Mills, a Brownstown resident, said in his affidavit that he “later learned” Randy Pollard, Rauner’s downstate director who acted as chair during the convention when the election took place, “reported the vote for Fayette County as unanimous in favor of Chapin Rose.” Mills claims in his affidavit that draft minutes from the convention back up his own memories about how Rose came to win the seat on the Republican State Central Committee that had been held by Winchester since 1992. “The only word I can use to describe the election proceeding on a subjective level is that the election of Mr. Rose was intentionally ‘railroaded’ through the convention at high speed while this precinct committeeman (Mills) was confused by the process,” Mills said in his affidavit. “I do not believe I was given a fair chance to vote for Mr. Winchester in the election for State Central Committeeman for the 15th District conducted on April 18, 2018, or even the opportunity to vote ‘present’ or otherwise not have my precinct’s weighted vote be counted for Mr. Rose.” In April, sources informed Prairie State Wire that Winchester had retained counsel to launch a challenge to voting procedures in his Republican State Central Committee re-election bid. Rose, an assistant Republican caucus leader, has represented the 51st district since 2013, having previously been a member of the state House for about a decade. The Illinois state Senate’s 51st District encompasses all of Dewitt, Piatt, Moultrie, Douglas and Shelby counties and parts of McLean, Champaign, Vermilion, Edgar and Macon counties. Sources told Prairie State Wire in April that the state GOP had run Rose against the incumbent Winchester to punish Winchester for backing Rep. Jeanne Ives (R-Wheaton) in her strong but unsuccessful March primary bid against Gov. Bruce Rauner. Earlier this month, Winchester’s attorney, Steve Boulton of Peraica & Associates in Chicago, said in a letter to state GOP General Counsel John Fogarty that the race results had been determined by a “group of unelected and merely appointed staff members” with “personal and financial interests” in the re-election of current state GOP Chairman Tim Schneider. “The procedure may have well have been employed before, but it is not properly authorized and stands in contravention of the plain language of the Election Code,” Boulton wrote in his letter. “Repetition of an unlawful practice does not make it legal. If such were true bank robbery would be legal today.” In his complaint filed in federal court, Winchester alleged the Illinois Republican party rigged the April 18 election against him. In an interview published this week in the Madison-St. Clair Record, Boulton claimed to have “a number” of affidavits that prove Winchester actually won the election. A source told the Prairie State Wire that Winchester was not even mentioned as an option by Pollard and that he’d called for a voice vote during the April 18 election. “Pollard asked for a voice vote by acclamation for Chapin (Rose) and just moved on,” a source said. “He didn’t even mention Winchester was a candidate, much less the incumbent.” Mills, in his affidavit, described what happened as slightly different from what the source described. Pollard, “very politically powerful in Fayette County,” supported Rose before the convention, “which was confirmed when Mr. Pollard had papers distributed to the Convention supporting Mr. Chapin (Rose), including to me, an action which I considered improper,” Mills said in his affidavit. “At the commencement of the election Mr. Pollard announced that there were two candidates for State Central Committeeman, Chapin Rose and Robert Winchester,” the affidavit said. “After announcing the candidates, Mr. Pollard immediately called for ‘nominations’ which caused me great confusion since he had just announced the two candidates. I did not know what the nominations were for, or what purpose they served, given that the candidates had just been announced.” Pollard then nominated Rose, who “received an immediate second,” the affidavit said. “I remained confused by this procedure, since the candidates were already announced by Mr. Pollard and I was trying to grasp why a nomination process was being conducted at all. In very short order, a voice vote to close nominations occurred, and Mr. Pollard declared the election over. I do not recall any actual vote for Mr. Chapin (Rose) at all.” Mills said in his affidavit that he reviewed draft minutes from the convention, a copy of which was attached to his affidavit, and found they “comport with my recollection that no election vote was actually taken.” “Further, the minutes reflect that Mr. Pollard nominated Mr. Rose only after asking for nominations three times,” the affidavit said. “This comports with my recollection that the actual sequence of from [sic] nomination of Mr. Rose to closing of nominations was very quick.” Pollard, Mills and Rose did not immediately respond to Prairie State Wire requests for comment.)

CHICAGO TRIBUNE
— Drama continues in state GOP ranks – Rick Pearson
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/politics/ct-met-chicago-fop-protest-20180521-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The Illinois Republican Party held its organizational meeting Saturday and re-elected Gov. Rauner’s handpicked chairman as part of a compromise with insurgent conservatives. But despite that attempt to show unity, the battle is continuing and may end up in a federal courtroom. Bob Winchester, a former state representative from Rosiclare, had been the longest-serving member of the Republican State Central Committee, serving since 1992. Winchester is an opponent of Rauner and party Chairman Tim Schneider, and he was challenged for re-election by state Sen. Chapin Rose of Mahomet. The State Board of Elections certified Rose as the winner at a special May 10 meeting and said it didn’t have the authority to investigate what Winchester alleges were misdeeds that made Rose the victor to represent the 15th Congressional District GOP. Winchester’s attorney, Stephen Boulton, said he filed suit a week ago in Downstate Hardin County to try to stop Rose from being seated, but his office said the case was not electronically recorded as being filed until late last week, too late to prevent Rose from being seated. The lawsuit contends both the state GOP and the State Board of Elections violated Winchester’s federally constitutionally protected due process rights and that county vote totals were changed to a “false result” in favor of Rose. The Illinois GOP has filed notice to move the case to the U.S. District Court in Benton. “The Illinois Republican Party is confident that the State Central Committee elections were conducted in accordance with state law, our party bylaws, and in an open and transparent manner,” Illinois Republican Party Executive Director Andrew Collins said in a statement. “We are also confident that the results reported to the party by the county Republican central committees were accurate, that the State Board (of Elections) certification of those results was proper and that the results are now final,” Collins said.)
