— Pat Quinn: “I don’t think Madigan should be the chairman of the Democratic Party.” – John Dempsey (DIERSEN: In your precinct, what percent of the Republican voters know a) who their Republican Precinct Committeeman/Captain is, b) who the officers of their Republican township/ward party organization are, c) who the officers of their Republican county party organization are, d) who their representative on the Illinois Republican Party (IRP) State Central Committee (SCC) is, e) who the IRP offices are, f) who the IRP National Committeeman is, and g) and who the IRP National Committeewoman is? While Democrat voters elect their representative on the Democrat SCC, Republican voters elect Republican Precinct Committeemen (outside of Cook County), Republican Township Party Committeemen (in Cook County outside of Chicago), and Republican Ward Committeemen in Chicago who elect Republican SCC members. IRP SCC members then elect IRP Chairmen, appoint members of state convention committees, etc.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: “Well, I don’t think he should be the chairman of the Democratic Party”, said Quinn. “As a matter of fact I think the voters in the primary ought to have a chance to vote for the chairman of the Democratic Party. I believe in term limits. I’ve been passing petitions for that over the years. I think reasonable term limits are needed for everybody and that includes running for Governor and Attorney General.”)

March 5 Morning Edition

CHICAGO TRIBUNE
— FRONT PAGE WITH COLOR PICTURE: As Ives hits the road against Rauner, her firebrand reputation precedes her – Kim Geiger
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/politics/ct-met-jeanne-ives-republican-governor-campaign-trail-20180301-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: To a large extent, Ives is testing how the DuPage County brand of conservatism plays on the statewide stage. Still focused on abortion and immigration on the campaign trail, she’s dialed back the Alan Keyes-style bomb throwing, even if she’s still not exactly Henry Hyde, the late longtime congressman and abortion rights opponent from Wood Dale who was praised for his ability to disagree without being disagreeable. . .In Peoria, Ives’ digression from abortion to education was in part an attempt to illustrate she cares enough about policy matters to dig into the details, unlike Rauner, who she says has been a “disinterested” governor. Still, Ives’ reputation precedes her, and audiences expect to hear from an aggressive, intense politician. . .It’s that segment of the party that’s now backing Ives’ bid. Chief among them is Dan Proft, a morning radio talk show host and longtime political operative with ties to the Illinois Policy Institute, a libertarian think tank. Proft’s campaign funds have counted as top donors both Rauner, who he’s now opposing, and Lake Forest businessman Richard Uihlein, who jump-started Ives’ campaign with $2.5 million. Introducing Ives at a McHenry County fundraiser early last month, Proft recounted how he’d soured on the governor, who he said had shown a failure to understand “that elections are the means to policy ends.” “I was a supporter of Bruce Rauner’s, I’m a friend of Bruce Rauner’s, I like Bruce,” Proft said, noting that Rauner had donated $4.5 million over the years to Proft’s super political action committee. “But here’s the thing. If you’re going to betray the Republican Party, if you’re going to lie to people, if you’re going to advance the flag of the left, then I don’t need your money and neither does the Republican Party.” Proft called Ives a “once-in-a-generation candidate,” generating cheers from the more than 100 people who snacked on crudites and croissant sandwiches beneath the vaulted wooden rafters of a tony county club near Woodstock. . .Ives, whose turn to speak came after dinner was served and once the governor was long gone, gave a pointed pitch. “You have a choice. This is a governor who doesn’t understand what it means to be a Republican,” Ives said. “We have to take the fight to the Democrats, I do agree with him on that. But Gov. Rauner is the wrong vehicle for that.” Ives offered her usual critique of the governor, and contended that he’d be unable to win the general election without enthusiastic support from conservatives. “The truth is our caucus does not trust him,” Ives said. “And when you can’t trust a commander, then you’ve got to worry about going to battle for him because you’re not sure he has your back.”)
— Rep. Lipinski warns Democrats of ‘tea party of the left’ – Rick Pearson (DIERSEN: Democrats would say the Lipinski is a DINO (Democrat in Name Only). To be a Democrat is to be a morale relativist who believes that their end justifies their end. To be a Democrat is to be a disciple of Saul Alinsky. To be a Democrat is to promote dependency on government, dependency on charity, LGBTQ activity, abortion, mass/illegal immigration, booze, gambling, pot and other vices, abolition of the First and Second Amendments, patronage, political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, age discrimination, retaliation, and even worse things. To be a Democrat is to be anti-Trump, anti-Protestant, anti-conservative, anti-patriotic, anti-Republican, anti-American, anti-White, anti-male, anti-older people, anti-rich people, anti-gun owners, anti-German Americans, anti-draft avoiders (except Bill Clinton), and anti-those whose ancestors have been in America longer than their ancestors.)

— Ives ad compares Rauner to Obama: Republican state Rep. Jeanne Ives’ campaign said Sunday it is up with a new TV ad that compares Gov. Rauner to former Democratic President Barack Obama. “Bruce Rauner lies so much he reminds us of another Chicago politician,” a narrator says. The ad then cuts to a June 15, 2009, clip of Obama talking about a concept of the Affordable Care Act that didn’t happen. “If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor. Period,” Obama says. It’s unclear how widespread Ives’ ad will appear. No new advertising contracts for Ives have been posted by Chicago TV stations or cable since last month. – Rick Pearson

I should write a book about the biggest bullies and punishers in Wheaton, in Glen Ellyn, in Milton Township, in DuPage County, and in Illinois who have the most religious, government, political, and/or financial clout. — DIERSEN HEADLINE: What towns have you lived and worked in and for how long? Tom Teune of Wheaton demonizes, denigrates, and condemns Jeanne Ives’ South Dakota just like my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes demonize, denigrate, and condemn my hometown of Crete where I lived 1948-1972. They stress a) that none of my grade school and high school classmates were minorities, b) that back then, Crete was overwhelmingly German-American and Lutheran, and c) that back then, Crete had far less poverty and crime. In my defense, a) I bought a new town home in University Park in 1972 and b) I worked for the federal government for almost 30 years. During that time, virtually all of my superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates were Democrats and many of them were minorities. My current critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have little or no experience working for, working with, or supervising minorities or women. Few of my current critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have lived or worked outside of Wheaton, outside of Glen Ellyn, outside of Milton Township, or outside of DuPage County. I lived in Crete 1948-1972, in University Park 1972-1976, in Chicago 1976-1978, and in Wheaton since 1978. I worked in Chicago Heights 1964-1966 and 1970-1972, in Flossmoor in 1966, in Park Forest 1966-1969, in Chicago 1971 and 1973-1997, in Harvey 1972-1973, and in Joliet 1973-1974.)

DAILY NORTHWESTERN
— Rauner, Ives face off in Republican gubernatorial primary – Kristina Karisch (DIERSEN: What are your approval and disapproval ratings, and what reasons do raters give for those ratings? Those who disapprove of me parrot the nasty, if not vicious, if not slanderous things that my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes say about me. My critics/opponents in Wheaton, in Glen Ellyn, in Milton Township, in DuPage County, and in Illinois have lots of religious, government, political, and/or financial clout.)

A Morning Consult poll released in January found that Rauner held a 31 percent approval rating in the last quarter of 2017, and a disapproval rating of 55 percent for that same time period.)

I complain when activists, candidates, elected officials, party leaders, major donors, political consultants, etc. in Wheaton, Glen Ellyn, in Milton Township, in DuPage County, and in Illinois who claim that they are conservative and/or Republican say and/or do things against the Republican Party platform, against the Illinois Republican Party platform, and/or against the Milton Township Republican Central Committee resolution against video gambling. While I was a federal employee for almost 30 years, I complained about political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation.)

https://www.wsj.com/articles/a-new-business-takes-on-fake-news-1520189066
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The internet broke down barriers by enabling everyone to become a publisher. The unintended consequence was the fake-news epidemic. Teenagers in Macedonia discovered they could make a small fortune from online advertising by concocting outlandish clickbait stories. RT.com, one of the top news sources on YouTube, doesn’t disclose that it is funded by the Russian government, and in 2009 changed its name from Russia Today. One cause of the problem is the weakening of news brands, an effect of social media and search engines. A 2017 study by the Reuters Institute and Oxford, “I Saw the News on Facebook , ” found that most people couldn’t remember the news brand of stories they accessed through social media. That makes it easy for purveyors of knowingly false news or propaganda to fool users by looking like legitimate news publishers. A site called “Denver Guardian” was set up before the 2016 election to show how easy it is to publish knowingly false stories, according to its founder. Before the internet, displays of newspapers and magazines featured well-known brands. No one mistook the National Enquirer for the Philadelphia Inquirer. The internet often feels like a mass of pages ripped out of publications and scattered randomly on the floor.)

While I attended Crete-Monee High School 1962-1966, I took college preparatory courses notwithstanding the fact that many, if not most, if not virtually everyone at the time viewed me as NOT being “college material.” Neither of my parents had attended college. My father was the first of his ancestors to earn a high school diploma. My mother never attended high school. I spent my junior and senior years and the summer in between washing dishes for the minimum wage in the basement of the S.S. Kresges in Chicago Heights. I just barely made into the top 20% of my class, my ACT score was only 24, I was draft bait, my eyesight could not be corrected to 20/20, I had partial red/green color blindness, and I had Osgood-Schlatter disease (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osgood%E2%80%93Schlatter_disease). GOVERNING

There was even an Oscar salute to activism, via the Oscar nominated song “Stand Up for Something,” sung by Common and Andra Day and introduced by Dave Chappelle. “If you are a nominee tonight who isn’t making history, shame on you,” Kimmel said in his opening monologue, a nod to the anticipation of a more diverse set of nominees and the show’s hopes of social change ahead. WASHINGTON POST
— Wheaton gun show bans AR-15 sales, landing it at the center of a national gun-control debate – Mark Guarino
https://www.washingtonpost.com/national/an-illinois-gun-show-bans-ar-15-sales-landing-it-at-the-center-of-a-national-gun-control-debate/2018/03/04/12502e6a-1fec-11e8-94da-ebf9d112159c_story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The last place one might expect to hear pushback against the National Rifle Association would be at a gun show here, a western suburb of Chicago that reliably votes Republican every election cycle and is the proud home of the Billy Graham Center Museum. . .Organizers halted an advertised raffle that would have awarded an AR-15 to the winner, and vendors were told they would not be allowed to sell the weapon at the monthly show. Frank Cesare — of the Pioneer Valley Sportsman’s Association, which has hosted the show for more than 40 years — said the decision, followed complaints the group received after the Parkland shooting and as gun-control advocates planned to protest. “We did the ban to try to calm the situation down and show them we are willing to work with them,” he said, referring to the protesters. Cesare said that the ban on AR-15s also would remain in place for April’s show and that the club is “waiting to see” what the mood is like before deciding on shows later in the year. But the move has forced the club into the gun culture war that has gained new energy across the United States since Parkland. . .Clustered near the fairgrounds entrance were about 30 protesters who joined on Facebook as “Friends Who March,” a group that emerged from last year’s Women’s March. When organizer Jax West, 46, of Lisle, Ill., heard the AR-15 raffle and sales were canceled, she said she was “really appreciative” of the gesture but wanted to show up anyway to “keep them honest.” West said the protesters are not anti-gun; her partner is an NRA instructor and teaches concealed-carry classes. “We just need sensible gun laws,” West said, noting that the Parkland massacre has allowed both sides of the gun-control debate to have a conversation. “I don’t think that’s a discussion that could have happened. Now that is changing.” The conversation Sunday got a bit rowdy, when a group of counterprotesters assembled across the fairgrounds entrance. Many in NRA caps and holding Second Amendment signs confronted West’s group, arguing that any suggestion of further gun regulation “infringes on our rights,” said Mike Robleski, 64, of Lisle, Ill.)

Tolomei said he was happy the gun control advocates “respected the show floor,” and did not attempt to enter or disrupt the show, which was open to the public at a cost of $5. DAILY HERALD
— Minor says he could drop out of race before November – Robert Sanchez, Burt Constable, Katlyn Smith, and Marie Wilson
http://www.dailyherald.com/news/20180227/minor-says-he-could-drop-out-of-race-before-november
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Embattled legislative candidate Burt Minor says he won’t drop out of next month’s Republican primary but that he still could withdraw before the November general election. “Even if I win (the primary), it’s going to be tough to win in November,” Minor said Tuesday. “Would I step down and let someone else run? Maybe.” . . . Minor, the Winfield Township Republican chairman, entered the race with a long list of endorsements but has seen some of that support erode. On Tuesday, for example, a spokesman for U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren said the Plano Republican has withdrawn his support and urged Minor to drop out. State Rep. David Olsen, a Downers Grove Republican, said he is not taking a stance on Minor’s comments but is withdrawing his support from all three GOP candidates in the primary — including Amy Grant and Ryan Byrne. Olsen said voters need to determine the truth of what was said and choose to support or not support Minor accordingly. “Comments that are racist and racially charged — and some of this very homophobic and inappropriate language — that really should have no place in the Republican Party,” Olsen said. “It should have no place in politics in 2018.” Addison Township Republican Chairman Pat Durante said he will continue to support Minor “on a personal basis.” He wouldn’t comment, though, on whether he thought Minor was telling the truth. “She (Harold) may be telling the truth,” he said. “He may be telling the truth. It’s allegations. I’m not going to have an opinion on allegations … I think people ought to just back off until somebody finds out the truth.” But even some Winfield Township precinct committeemen are questioning Minor’s comments. Suzanne Heffner Hackenbruch, who has been a GOP committeeman for roughly 20 years, said she was “shocked and offended” when Minor told a group of fellow Republicans about his conversation with Harold. She said Minor recounted how he asked Harold a series of questions that culminated with asking whether she was a lesbian. “I couldn’t believe what I heard,” she said. “At no time did he indicate that Erika had invited him to ask her any tough questions … I don’t see how her personal life has anything to do with (issues in DuPage).” Minor said he understands why Hultgren, Olsen and others “called me and said they were pulling their support for me.” “They all want to win in November. They don’t need to be involved in this. It’s a Catch-22 for them, unfortunately,” Minor said. With the primary less than three weeks away, it’s too late for Minor to remove his name from the ballot. To leave the race now, Minor said, “means I lied.” If Minor steps down after the primary, a three-person selection committee formed by the GOP would chose a replacement candidate. Meanwhile, Minor said he’s “getting destroyed by everybody; a lot of negative comments.” He said typing his name into online searches brings up words such as “racist” and “homophobic.” “I didn’t see this coming,” Minor said. “Let’s be good Republicans and stop this. It’s not good for the Republican Party. It’s not good for the people of Illinois.”)
— Candidates disagree on lesbian comment, use of N-word – Robert Sanchez
http://www.dailyherald.com/news/20180226/candidates-disagree-on-lesbian-comment-use-of-n-word
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Minor now is accusing Breen — the Republican House floor leader who represents the 48th District — of organizing a political smear campaign against him. He said Breen is doing it for the benefit of DuPage County Board member Amy Grant, who, along with political newcomer Ryan Byrne, both of Wheaton, is running against Minor in the March 20 primary. Breen says that’s not what motivated him to speak out. “When I learned about his outrageous and offensive conduct, I resolved myself to ensure that he would not serve as a member of the House Republican caucus,” Breen said. Harold, meanwhile, said she’s “telling the truth because telling the truth is the right thing to do,” she said. Rauner and other Republicans, including Gary Grasso, Harold’s opponent in the attorney general race, have since called for Minor to withdraw from the race. However, Minor says no party leaders have called him directly to ask him to drop out. “I’m embarrassed by this,” Minor said. “I’m upset about this. I would love for this to go away. It’s not going to go away. If I dropped out of the race tomorrow, it wouldn’t make a difference. My name is still on the ballot.”)

Most commonly, their goals were a) to get the Illinois Republican Party to dump its traditional family, right to life, immigration, and other planks in the IRP platform, b) to promote booze, gambling, pot, and other vices, and/or c) to stop everyone from reading GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails. Most commonly, they are/were run by Democrats and/or Libertarians who falsely claim to be conservative and/or Republican.)
https://chicago.suntimes.com/news/ald-pawar-launches-news-outlet-to-promote-unity-and-disrupt-conservatives/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Nearly five months after dropping out of the race for governor, Chicago Ald. Ameya Pawar (47th) is jumping into a new challenge — launching his own non-profit news outlet meant to be the “progressive response” to the conservative think tank, the Illinois Policy Institute. . .But one of the group’s goals is “disruption,” according to a pitch provided by One Illinois that singles out the Illinois Policy Institute. “One Illinois has the opportunity to disrupt the marketplace of ideas by countering the IPI narrative with a contrary story line based on empathy and unity,” the group says. “One Illinois will disrupt the IPI market ownership by highlighting the human impact its policies have on voters and by putting a face on those who suffer the consequences.” The Illinois Policy Institute, led by John Tillman, is a conservative and free-market think tank, which at one point had close ties with Gov. Bruce Rauner. The group has spent years developing a presence on its website, and also in newspaper editorials and on the radio. Many of the pro-business, anti-union proposals that made up the governor’s “Turnaround Agenda” had been advocated for years by the institute. Pawar has a staff of six, and he’ll serve as president. Ted Cox, a former DNAInfo Chicago and Daily Herald reporter, is the group’s senior advisor and editor. And political fundraiser Katelynd Duncan — who helped to spearhead Illinois’ #metoo movement by both signing a letter and speaking out about harassment she’s endured — serves as senior adviser and co-founder. Pawar has freelancers, a documentarian and a podcaster on board, and he’ll be featured as an “on-camera personality.” Pawar said he’s also planning live events such as town halls. Content will be posted on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, but One Illinois will also utilize organized labor, progressive advocacy groups and national groups to push out its stories. There’s also plans to buy TV ads to increase viewership, with content also being offered to local newspapers, TV and radio stations. Pawar said he’s set up a partnership with the Illinois Economic Policy Institute and the New America Foundation. He’s also calling his own donors and talking to foundations about additional partnerships. He said he understands it’s hard to launch new media efforts: “Obviously everyone is trying to figure out how to make journalism sustainable. I think initially what we’re going to focus on is developing good content, building rapport and support and donors. Down the road we’d like a subscription model, but our goal is just to produce good content.” . . . “I think the Illinois Policy Institute and Breitbart [News Network], they profit off of disunity. They are not trying to bring people together or onto a common agenda or on moving the ball forward,” Pawar said. “They have a very hyper-partisan view of the world. They like to turn other communities into the other. But by turning people against one another, they get people angry. They divide people. It paves the way for the status quo, which is the type of politics that perpetuates income inequality where the working class are pitted against the working poor and the middle class are against the working class.” Reached for comment, the Illinois Policy Institute said it has a “track record of uniting people and parties to pass policy solutions that improve Illinoisans’ lives.” “For 15 years, the Illinois Policy Institute has been the state’s strongest voice for taxpayers. We’ve built an amazing policy, media and messaging organization that holds politicians of both parties accountable,” spokeswoman Hilary Gowins said in an email.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Republican governor candidate state Rep. Jeanne Ives says she needs to raise $10 million by primary day to get her message out in TV ads and for get-out-the-vote operations in her challenge to Gov. Rauner. In a red-meat-worded fundraising email to supporters, Ives refers to Rauner as a RINO: Republican in Name Only. “To liberal RINO’s, you are NOTHING but a vote,” Ives’ email begins. “But to me, the President, and your fellow patriots who make up our America First movement, you are the lifeblood of our country. You are what it means to be an American.” Ives continues: “To win, we will need to contact every voter in the state. We will need to get up on TV every single day. We will need to broadcast every single time Rauner has betrayed the people.” Ives has raised nearly $3.2 million since Nov. 1, with nearly 80 percent of the money coming from conservative mega-donor Richard Uihlein of Lake Forest. ILLINOIS FAMILY ACTION
— GOP Candidates for Attorney General: Gary Grasso and Erika Harold – John Biver and Dave Smith
https://illinoisfamilyaction.org/2018/02/gop-candidates-for-attorney-general-gary-grasso-and-erika-harold/#.Wo6t10V03nQ.facebook
(FROM THE ARTICLE: After doing research and speaking personally to both candidates, we highly recommend voting for Gary Grasso. His legal experience, independence and willingness to engage with conservative grassroots activists speaks volumes. Unfortunately, Harold has avoided publicly answering questions from conservative organizations, including failing to respond to candidate surveys from pro-life organizations in the state. It is frustrating to observe her answer questions from liberal media sources but refuse to answer questions (and questionnaires) from pro-life and pro-family groups. Their differences were dramatically different when they were asked about defending unconstitutional and tyrannical Illinois laws that force medical professionals to give abortion referrals (SB 1564) or ban professional therapists from helping minor children with unwanted same-sex attraction or gender confusion (HB 217). Even after pointing out that the next Attorney General will take an oath to defend the U.S. Constitution and Illinois State Constitution, Harold said she would defend the laws of the state whereas Grasso indicated that he did not think those laws were constitutional. Moreover, it is troubling to read or hear her interviews in the media (WBEZ for example) and listen to her give politically correct or even liberal responses to questions. The Chicago Sun-Times reported last month that Harold “believes Illinois should start ‘exploring’ [marijuana] legalization.” In the WBEZ interview, Harold waves the white flag of surrender, saying that she believes that recreational marijuana is “inevitable.” Finally, the fact that Harold has aligned herself with Bruce Rauner and his campaign apparatus is indicative of the establishment politics we’ve come to loathe in Illinois. We simply do not need another squishy establishment type in the Illinois GOP. Please make every effort to cast your ballot on or before March 20th to ensure that the best candidates are nominated. IFA-pac has a list of endorsed candidates for your consideration. If conservatives fail to vote in any election, we enable the Left to take the reins of government, which means bigger government and less individual freedom.)

http://www.dailyherald.com/news/20180226/candidate-denies-using-homosexual-slur-disputes-story-on-racial-slur
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Minor, 58, a candidate in the GOP primary for the 42nd Illinois House, says he’s willing to take a lie-detector test to support his version of what happened. “I’m probably destroyed on this campaign by this slanderous hitting,” Minor told the Daily Herald’s Editorial Board on Monday. “But I have integrity. And I’ve got to defend at least my integrity and tell folks this isn’t the way it happened. It isn’t the way it happened.” Minor, of Warrenville, says he won’t drop out of the race after Harold and Republican state Rep. Peter Breen of Lombard both said he made offensive remarks during an Oct. 12 meeting in Carol Stream when Harold, 37, was meeting with local Republicans individually to introduce herself and explain her campaign.)

— Organized labor case from Ill. goes in front of Supreme Court – AP (DIERSEN: Are/were you a member of a government union? I was a union member 1966-1969 while worked for the Post Office and 1971-1980 while I worked for IRS. GAO did not unionize until 2007. If GAO had been unionized in 1997, I might still be a GAO employee. Overwhelmingly, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes hate unions, hate former union members, hate current union members, and hate future union members.)
http://abc7chicago.com/politics/organized-labor-case-from-ill-goes-in-front-of-supreme-court/3141944/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Illinois government employee Mark Janus says he has a constitutional right not to contribute anything to a union with which he disagrees. Janus and the conservative interests that back him contend that everything unions representing public employees do is political, including contract negotiations. The Trump administration is supporting Janus in his effort to persuade the court to overturn its 1977 ruling allowing states to require fair share fees for government employees. The unions argue that so-called fair share fees pay for collective bargaining and other work the union does on behalf of all employees, not just its members. People can’t be compelled to contribute to unions’ political activities. The American Civil Liberties Union is on the unions’ side against an individual’s free speech claims. ACLU Legal Director David Cole said fair share fees do not violate nonunion workers’ rights. Labor leaders fear that not only would workers who don’t belong to a union stop paying fees, but that some union members might decide to stop paying dues if they could in essence get the union’s representation for free.)

Extremely few of my GAO superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates had gained any of job-related work experience before GAO hired them.)

From what I see, if Rauner wins the primary election, to win the general election, he will officially banish from the IRP those like me who support the traditional family, right to life, and immigration planks in the IRP platform. From what I see, if Rauner wins the primary election, he will use his money to elect IRP State Central Committee (SCC) members, IRP officers, county party officers, and township/ward party officers who reject the traditional family, right to life, and immigration planks in the IRP platform. From what I see, those IRP SCC members will appoint members to the 2020 IRP Platform and Resolutions Committee who will strike the traditional family, right to life, immigration, and other planks from the 2020 IRP platform. NEW YORK MAGAZINE
— The Wild Illinois Governors’ Race Shows Why the Midterms Remain Unpredictable – Ed Kilgore (DIERSEN: From what I see, if Ives loses the primary election, there is no hope for those in Illinois like me who support the traditional family, right to life, and immigration planks in the Illinois Republican Party (IRP) platform. From what I see, if Rauner wins the primary election, to win the general election, he will officially banish from the IRP those like me who support the traditional family, right to life, and immigration planks in the IRP platform. From what I see, if Rauner wins the primary election, he will use his money to elect IRP State Central Committee (SCC) members, IRP officers, country party officers, and township/ward party officers who reject the traditional family, right to life, and immigration planks in the IRP platform. From what I see, those IRP SCC members will appoint members to the 2020 IRP Platform and Resolutions Committee who will strike the traditional family, right to life, immigration, and other planks from the 2020 IRP platform. It is obvious that this is what Rauner’s wife wants to happen.)
http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2018/02/wild-il-governors-race-shows-midterms-remain-unpredictable.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Rauner was thought to be an even more overwhelming favorite for his party’s nomination than Pritzker. But he has taken several recent steps that have enraged conservatives, including a deal to fund teacher pensions in Chicago, restrictions on the power of police to detain undocumented immigrants, and most of all, a flip-flop in favor of a bill to expand public funding of abortions. By last December National Review was calling Rauner “The Worst Republican Governor in America,” and a conservative challenger, anti-abortion state legislator and West Point graduate Jeanne Ives, began looking more serious. Ives certainly isn’t pulling any punches. She’s already run one of the most obnoxious attack ads of this or any other cycle, accusing Rauner of being the candidate not only of baby-killers and union teachers and tax-hikers but of transgender people and “criminal” immigrants. There haven’t been any polls taken since this nastygram hit the airwaves, but Rauner has reason to worry his early big lead over Ives might have shrunk. The question is whether he should spend some of the money he’ll need for a tough general election to beat back this conservative revolt. The Illinois race definitely shows why early handicapping of gubernatorial races isn’t easy this year. A Biss/Rauner contest might look and feel a lot different than a Pritzker/Rauner contest, and if Ives somehow wins the GOP nomination, all bets are off. Check back on this one on March 21.)

CHICAGO TRIBUNE
— Pritzker rhetoric doesn’t match reality on promoting women at investment firm – David Heinzmann and Todd Lighty (DIERSEN: In 1971, Oldsmobile withdrew a job offer that I had accepted saying that it had just agreed to stop hiring Whites to settle an EEOC complaint. Financial industry employers have always been under tremendous pressure to hire, to retain, and to promote young minorities and young females. Since 1997, that, and my bad demographics (born in 1948, White, male, etc.), have frustrated my efforts to get a job in the financial industry appropriate for someone with my salary history, work experience, professional certifications, professional license, and education. I worked for GAO on audits of financial industry regulators 1990-1997 at the GS-13 Step 3-10 levels, currently $106,044-$125,325. I became a Forensic Accountant in 1997, Certified Financial Services Auditor in 1996, Certified Government Financial Manager in 1994, Certified Fraud Examiner in 1990, Licensed CPA in 1981, Certified Internal Auditor in 1981, and CPA in 1979. I earned a master’s degree in financial markets and trading from IIT in 1997, a master’s degree in accounting from DePaul in 1980, and an MBA from Loyola in 1976. Further, not only financial industry employers, but all employers view federal employees and federal retirees as being overpaid, lazy, stupid, and even worse things. Further, my former GAO superiors and their supporters continue to do everything that they can to frustrate my job search.)
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/politics/ct-met-jb-pritzker-women-hiring-20180222-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: In fact, Pritzker’s investment businesses have underperformed even according to the low diversity standards of the financial services industry, a Tribune review found. He has employed few women in senior positions at the Pritzker Group, a Chicago-based venture capital, private equity and asset management firm he co-founded with his brother. Excluding the Pritzker brothers, of the 55 employees currently listed on the firm’s online employee rosters, just eight are women. And of the 26 employees with a senior title of vice president or above, three are women. Pritzker said the lack of women in leadership positions is an industrywide problem for firms like his. “In each of those industries, I think you’re probably aware, there are — have been — significant challenges in senior positions,” he said in an interview with the Tribune last month. “There have not been enough women or minorities across every part of the industry — those three industries. That’s a problem that I’ve recognized and acknowledged, and tried to address over many years.” Pritzker stopped short of saying whether he believes the challenges are a result of a lack of qualified women and minorities in the workforce, or a historical reluctance of managers like him to promote women up the corporate ladder.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: When Congress overhauled the tax code last year, lawmakers capped deductions for state and local taxes, or SALT, at $10,000 per return for 2018 and after. Thus married couples get half the SALT write-off per person that singles do. But spouses can’t get two $10,000 deductions by filing separately. http://www.govexec.com/management/2018/02/watchdog-groups-create-guide-help-feds-protect-themselves-against-political-misconduct/146180/

(FROM THE ARTICLE: One key recommendation in the report is for federal employees to take contemporaneous notes, be it in meetings, on calls or as part of policy research or proposals. Those notes should be as detailed as possible, the groups said, and be dated and backed up to personal devices as long as the information is not classified. The groups issued the guide after hearing from their members and in the media about the Trump administration tightening restrictions on the federal scientific community. Agencies have reportedly instructed employees not to use certain words, disbanded scientific advisory commissions and reassigned employees who speak out about issues the administration is no longer prioritizing. “We’ve been hearing a lot of stories about people being told not to take notes, not to use certain words, not to have a paper trail,” said Andrew Rosenberg, a former regional director for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and current director of the Center for Science and Democracy at the Union of Concerned Scientists, which helped write the guide.)

CRAIN’S CHICAGO BUSINESS
— This Chicago law firm has the rights stuff – CLAIRE BUSHEY (DIERSEN: What if Stowell & Friedman had agreed to represent me in Diersen v. GAO? What is the law firm’s position on representing federal employees who are Republican, White, male, old, and/or non-veteran like me who like me allege political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation?)
http://www.chicagobusiness.com/article/20180216/ISSUE01/180219932
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Stowell & Friedman belongs to an elite class of plaintiffs law firms that have made money in the decidedly unglamorous world of civil rights law. The firm specializes in class-action lawsuits that attack systemic problems and has scored victories against Smith Barney, Merrill Lynch, MetLife, Wells Fargo and the city of Chicago. The firm has recovered more than $900 million in damages for victims of discrimination and harassment since its founding in 1989. (Typically, courts award attorneys working on contingency a fee equal to 25 percent of damages.) Ten lawyers work at its 26th-floor location in the Loop, and the glass walls of the offices are etched with handwritten letters of grateful clients. MANY CALLS, FEW LAWSUITS Stowell & Friedman files fewer than one lawsuit for every 250 requests for representation. Since the fall, the office has been fielding calls from women, many of whom work in low-wage industries, who mention the #MeToo movement and their own fatigue at the lack of progress in gender equality. The fight against racial discrimination continues, too: The firm sued Morgan Stanley on Feb. 1 in New York on behalf of a broker who said he received poor reviews, lower pay and an insulting nickname because he is black. (Morgan Stanley denies the allegations.)

https://illinoisfamilyaction.org/2018/02/whats-the-deal-with-your-lawmaker/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: If your Republican state rep. and/or senator has not endorsed Jeanne Ives, ask him or her why not. For example, ask U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam why he hasn’t endorsed her by sending an email to info@roskamforcongress.com. I’ll tell you what they likely won’t. They’re perpetually running for office, and the “social issues” unnerve them. Ives dared to touch the third rail of politics, and pusillanimous politicians fear touching her. Good thing these lawmakers weren’t around when slavery or civil rights legislation was the third rail. Timorous lawmakers rationalize their cowardice by saying it’s good strategy to avoid the “social issues,” because if they address them, they supposedly can’t get re-elected. And if they can’t get re-elected, then they can’t do all the AMAZING good work they do on other issues. (The truth is most Republicans are so ignorant of issues related to homosexuality and the “trans” ideology, they couldn’t sensibly talk about them even if they had the spine to do so.) And so it goes, with each election cycle ensuring that the critical social issues will not be addressed. The GOP is corroded from within by their self-fulfilling prophesies. Outstanding people like Ives will not choose to run, and the party will become a sickly, rotting shell composed of people who have no idea that the “social issues” are more critical to the health and welfare of society than are tax rates or that the “social issues” affect everything, including public education, social welfare costs, religious liberty, speech rights, and children’s rights. Now, go call your Republican lawmakers and ask them why they haven’t endorsed Ives.)

WASHINGTON FREE BEACON
— Security Officials Recommended Pruitt Fly First Class Media fail to mention high level of death threats against Pruitt and his family -Elizabeth Harrington (DIERSEN: Are you a Republican Precinct Committeeman/Captain who is well-known in your precinct? I am well-known in my gerrymandered DuPage County Milton Township Precinct 9 in Wheaton. From what I see, the more votes that Clinton got in your precinct than Trump got (Clinton got 211 votes and Trump got only 137 in my gerrymandered precinct), the more likely that anti-Trumps will harass/insult/threaten you when you deliver Republican literature in your precinct. Should I wear a body camera when I deliver Republican literature in my precinct? Anti-Trumps in my precinct know that if they attack me, no one will come to my defense. They know that those who dominate Wheaton, Milton Township, DuPage County, and Illinois who claim to be conservative and/or Republican have a strong history of not coming to my defense. My precinct was gerrymandered in 2015. The precinct’s polling place is now far away. I am no longer a TAPROOT Republicans of Illinois chairman, Wheaton Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee member, Milton Township Republican Central Committee webmaster, Illinois Center Right Coalition Steering Committee member, American Association of Political Consultants Midwest Chapter board member, etc.)

— Marine Corps Eases Requirement that Has Inhibited Female Infantry Officers – Natalie Johnson (DIERSEN: Since the 1960s, ever-increasingly, to help hire, retain, and promote minorities and females, the federal government has lowered its hiring, retention, and promotion standards and made its standards much more subjective. The federal government has eliminated the Federal Service Entrance Examination which I passed in 1970. IRS and GAO have eliminated passing the CPA examination to get promoted. I passed the CPA examination on my first attempt in 1979. I passed the Certified Internal Auditor examination on my first attempt in 1981. I became a licensed CPA in 1981, a Certified Fraud Examiner in 1990, a Certified Government Financial Manager in 1994, a Certified Financial Services Auditor in 1996, and a Forensic Accountant in 1997.)

— Trump endorses Romney for Senate bid in Utah (DIERSEN: Which candidates seek your endorsement and why? According to my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes, my endorsement is the kiss of death because I am “too conservative” and even worse things. My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes a) reject planks in the Republican Party platform and/or the Illinois Republican Party platform and work against those like me who support those planks, b) reject the Milton Township Republican Central Committee resolution against video gambling and work against those like me who support that resolution, c) focus on destroying those like me who they cannot manipulate/dominate, d) were defendants in lawsuits that I have filed, and/or e) are operatives or dupes for the aforesaid and/or are anti-Trump, anti-Protestant, anti-conservative, anti-patriotic, anti-Republican, anti-American, anti-White, anti-male, anti-older people, anti-rich people, anti-gun owners, anti-German Americans, anti-draft avoiders, and/or anti-those whose ancestors have been in America longer than their ancestors.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Asked Friday if he would seek or accept Trump’s endorsement, Romney demurred but said they had talked on the phone two or three times in recent months and had a cordial and respectful relationship. Within minutes of Trump’s tweet Monday night, Romney sent one of his own: “Thank you Mr. President for the support. I hope that over the course of the campaign I also earn the support and endorsement of the people of Utah.”)
