(FROM THE ARTICLE: Police in Rockford, Illinois announced charges Saturday for 17 people arrested during protests over two straight days. On Friday, 11 protesters were arrested after a small protest blocking East State Street, according to WTVO. Then Saturday, an additional six protesters were arrested during a counterprotest at a “Back the Blue” rally in support of police. Rockford Police Chief Dan O’Shea, Winnebago County Sheriff Gary Caruana, and State’s Attorney Marilyn Hite Ross held a press conference Saturday afternoon announcing the charges. Six of the protesters were charged with mob action alone, while three more were charged with mob action and resisting arrest. Other charges included aggravated battery to a police officer, disorderly conduct, obstruction of police officers, damage to property and resisting a police officer. “The First Amendment is very clear. It does not give unbridled freedom to infringe on the rights of others,” Ross said. Former Democratic State Rep. Litesa Wallace shared a video in which she said she raised about $2,000 from her supporters to pay the bond for six of those arrested on Friday. “I am exhausted—which doesn’t say a lot because I didn’t do a lot today. I can only imagine how tired and exhausted the individuals who were arrested are. And I can only imagine how tired and exhausted people who are older than me are, who have been in this fight and wanting justice and equality for decades upon decades,” she said. . .The Friday protest was over the treatment of protesters during a May 30 demonstration in Rockford responding to the police-involved death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Protesters alleged that the Rockford Police used excessive force. An internal investigation by police announced Wednesday that it had found no evidence of wrongdoing by the officers. About 20 protesters announced several demands on Friday, including that the city drop all charges against demonstrators involved in the May 30 protest, and that the police hire an outside investigator to determine whether excessive force was used.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: There’s a new Jim Crow afoot in America. Once again, it’s coming from the Democrats, but this time, instead of pitting whites against blacks, it’s pitting blacks against whites. Beleaguered white people technically have the Civil Rights Act of 1964 at their back but, in the witch hunt atmosphere currently prevailing in America, it’s unclear whether they’ll have the courage to use it. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 doesn’t mince words. It exists to outlaw discrimination based upon a person’s race, color, religion, sex, or country of national origin. It explicitly expands these protections to employment programs. Under Title VII, “It shall be an unlawful employment practice for any employer, labor organization, or joint labor-management committee controlling apprenticeship or other training or retraining, including on-the-job training programs to discriminate against any individual because of his race, color, religion, sex, or national origin in admission to, or employment in, any program established to provide apprenticeship or other training. (42 U.S. Code §2000e-2(d).)” The City of Seattle has put a program in place for its 10,000 employees. There are special whites-only aspects of the program. In the “white only” portions of the program, whites must admit that they are racist (and, presumably, any refusal is more proof of racism), and then they must have that racism trained out of them. Christopher Rufo has obtained the materials for the segregated “whites only” training. Trying to summarize the material falls far short of showing the immensity of this Title VII violation, so I’ve embedded all of the tweets below.)

Jim Sacia (R-89th) are among the speakers expected at an “Illinois Back the Blue” rally in Rockford today. Cabello was a former Rockford Police Detective; Sacia served 28 years as a FBI special agent in Rockford before serving 11 years as an Illinois State Representative. The groups Concerned Citizens for America of Northern Illinois and the Illinois Family Institute plan to hold the rally from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Winnebago County Justice Center, at 650 W. State Street. In a press release, the organization said it will hold the rally, “To support all men and women in law enforcement and the amazing, vital, and dangerous work they do to protect our communities and country from lawlessness and evil.” This comes following several demonstrations by anti-police protest groups in Rockford, the most recent of which was Friday night. There were some tense moments as drivers attempted to make their way through the area. Rockford Police and Winnebago County Sheriff’s deputies moved in to help drivers get past. Nine protesters, five women and four men, were eventually taken into custody. In response, the group Rockford Youth Abolitionists announced they would be demonstrating at the “Back the Blue” rally. “We are standing in solidarity with protesters arrested yesterday at a nonviolent protest and against the fascist police state. RYA condemns the actions of law enforcement as well as the white supremacist rally happening,” the group said in a statement.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Since the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, nationwide protests, which quickly turned to riots, have been hijacked by the neo-Marxist left, morphing into an all-out assault on American cities and institutions. This assault is underpinned by an audacious attempt to rewrite history that turns specific past events into weapons not only to overpower political opponents but also to recast all of American history as a litany of racial transgressions. The radicals have turned race into a lens through which to view the country’s history, and not simply because they are obsessed with race. Authoritarian regimes leave largely untouched the private civic sphere of human activity; totalitarians destroy traditional value systems and reorder the culture. That is why they are harder to overthrow. The ill-named progressivism that has inspired shrill demands to dismantle police forces and destroy statues is only a small manifestation of a massive project aimed at the re-education of the American population. The goal of this project is to negate the story of the American republic and replace it with a tale anchored exclusively in race categories and narratives of oppression. (FROM THE ARTICLE: The most devastating problem is the very weak black family structure. Less than a third of black children live in two-parent households and illegitimacy stands at 75%. The “legacy of slavery” is often blamed. Such an explanation turns out to be sheer nonsense when one examines black history. Even during slavery, where marriage was forbidden, most black children lived in biological two-parent families. Professor Herbert G. Gutman’s research in “The Black Family in Slavery and Freedom 1750-1925” found that in three-fourths of 19th-century slave families, all the children had the same mother and father. In New York City, in 1925, 85% of black households were two-parent. In fact, “Five in six children under the age of six lived with both parents.” During slavery and as late as 1920, a black teenage girl raising a child without a man present was a rarity. An 1880 study of family structure in Philadelphia shows that three-quarters of all black families were nuclear families. There were only slight differences in family structure between racial groups. The percentages of nuclear families were: black (75.2%), Irish (82.2%), German (84.5%), and native white Americans (73.1%). Only one-quarter of black families were female-headed. Female-headed families among Irish, German, and native white Americans averaged 11%. According to the 1938 Encyclopaedia of the Social Sciences, only 11% of black children and 3% of white children were born to unwed mothers. As Thomas Sowell reported: “Going back a hundred years, when blacks were just one generation out of slavery, we find that census data of that era showed that a slightly higher percentage of black adults had married than white adults. This fact remained true in every census from 1890 to 1940.” The absence of a father in the home predisposes children, especially boys, to academic failure, criminal behavior, and economic hardship, not to mention an intergenerational repeating of handicaps. If today’s weak family structure is a legacy of slavery, then the people who make such a claim must tell us how it has managed to skip nearly five generations to have an effect.)

Wheaton lies in the heart of one of the most GOP counties in the country, a suburban Republican bastion that is crucial to his hopes of unseating President Clinton in November. The enthusiastic reception at the end of a week in which Dole had once again stumbled on the tobacco issue seemed to boost his spirits and buoy his confidence in the race to overtake Clinton. “We’re going to make it,” Dole crowed as he stopped to greet some of the well-wishers. “Wipe him out.” Later at a rally at Memorial Park, Dole recalled the spirit of 1776 as he extolled American virtues and recounted the nation’s triumph over Nazi Germany in World War II and the Soviet Union during the Cold War. “Look around the world this beautiful summer day and ask yourself what has endured,” Dole said. “All those empires have passed away. They were built on raw power and heartless ideology. After more sacrifice and suffering that can never be measured, they are gone.” What has endured, Dole said, are places that symbolize the strength of heartland America, like his home town of Russell, Kan., or like Wheaton. He added, “As long as we hold to the values of the way we began on July 4, 1776, the United States of America will always endure.” But Dole said the United States must never allow its defenses to be weakened, and pointed to the truck bombing in Saudi Arabia that killed 19 Americans as evidence of the terrorist threats and anti-American forces that exist around the world. “We don’t know exactly who’s responsible for this latest outrage,” he said. “The long list of suspects makes clear there is no shortage of those willing to attack innocent people. But together as a nation we resolve that the murderers will be captured and brought to justice — and they should be — and the punishment ought to be death.” Dole also offered his audience this bit of patriotic rhetoric: “I would tell this audience here today, there’s no place like America. There’s no place on Earth like America. This is America. Right today is America. The Fourth of July is America. This is America.” Wheaton is the county seat of DuPage County, the biggest Republican county in Illinois, which has regularly supplied enough votes to help Republican candidates offset Democratic Chicago. Clinton captured only 31 percent of the vote in DuPage four years ago, but President George Bush received just 47 percent, far below the normal level of support for Republicans. Gov. Jim Edgar (R), who accompanied Dole today, said the Republican candidate needs a big victory in suburban Chicago and still has some ways to go. “He’ll do very well downstate,” Edgar said, referring to the counties outside the Chicago metropolitan area. “In the suburbs, the key is to carry it by as big a margin as possible. . . . He needs to be here more. They just don’t know him as well as they should.” Gayle Franzen, the county executive and a Republican, agreed that Dole needs to spend more time in the suburbs but said by November the Republican candidate will be in strong shape here. “The whole integrity issue is sticking {on Clinton},” he said. “In this county {integrity} means everything. Dole is going to set the tone for this.” Walking the parade route this morning, Dole often set a brisk pace, but he paused along the way to shake hands and pose for photographs with those who had come to see him. Local residents said this year’s crowd was larger than usual because of Dole’s participation. “Even a 100-year-old woman at the nursing home knew Dole was coming to town,” said Susan Whelton, who watched Dole pass by. The parade was filled with fire trucks and old cars and floats and the parade route was lined with families with small children. “Go citizen Bob!” yelled one man as the candidate walked by. Jon and Leigh Ann Vock said they had reserved their places along the parade route by putting down chairs at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, 12 hours earlier than usual. The driver is fearful after his Kia ended up getting each and every window busted out – all by a group of teens who were getting ushered by police from Millennium Park on July 4th weekend. “I knew they were coming I said, ‘Oh f***, and so they came and jumped on the car and started dancing around on the hood,” he said. But the driver said some in the crowd turned violent and tried opening the doors. What happened next had the driver and his two passengers in disbelief. “And then they broke in the driver window, and that’s where I knew we were in big trouble, because they were trying to grab me, and I heard the back rear window shatter as well,” he said. A pitchfork crashed through the rear window, coming within inches of his Uber passengers. “Who knows what would have happened if they were able to pull us out of the vehicle? It seem like they wanted blood,” he said. “It’s terrifying just to think that there’s just basically a school a piranhas just roaming the streets of Chicago, and we don’t know where they’re going to show up.” CBS 2 first exposed how these groups of 300 to 400 have roamed the Loop and downtown for consecutive Saturdays. The peaceful pro-police event was underway at Civic Center Park when BLM activists and others wearing black-bloc and armed with collapsible batons — Malkin identified them online as Antifa — crashed the stage. Malkin can be heard in video of the attack screaming at the violent mob to get back. Not mincing words, she called the woman attacking them “b*tches” in a tweet, and said she was sprayed in the face with aerosol string and another man was beaten with a longboard. Video of the incident shows aggressive antagonists being allowed to walk right up to the very edge of the stage. Malkin shared a photo of the man she said was beaten by the mob. Malkin noted that police sat idly by doing nothing as the chaos ensued. According to the Denver Post, police “attempted to form a line around the two groups, but could not completely separate them.” The newspaper also said Denver Police Chief Paul Pazen asked the group “to reschedule or move the pro-police rally.” Malkin tweeted: “Denver Police Chief Pazen, who marched with BLM last month, let pro-police patriots get beaten and silenced.” In addition to BLM, the counter-demonstrators included the Party for Socialism and Liberation and the Afro-Liberation Front, according to KMGH-TV. The ABC affiliate reported the mob was “armed with pots and pans, whistles, hand-held sirens and other noise making gear,” and that they “crashed the Pro-Police rally and drowned out those trying to speak.” Almost reluctantly, KMGH-TV acknowledged that there were “a few scuffles between members of the two groups.” “There’s not much else to say other than every cop here is a terrorist by association,” Black Lives Matter supporter Hale Rardin told the station. Malkin took exception to how the local reporter she responded to above, KUSA-TV reporter Kyle Clark, tried to painted a “moral equivalency” between the peaceful pro-police group and the violent BLM mob attacking them. Pepper balls and a can of pepper spray were later deployed to disperse BLM activists, after police say some people “made aggressive moves” toward officers. In a somewhat foreboding wrap up, Malkin tweeted: “I’m ok. America is not.” An assessment that has merit, given the radical lawlessness seen from the left today, who intend to shut down all speech not in line with their hard-left views and are more than willing to use violence to do so, if necessary.
