Ever-increasingly, old White males lack “jury appeal” because ever increasingly, to curry favor with those who are younger, minority, and/or female, Democrats demonize, denigrate, and condemn old White males as being White supremacists, Nazis, KKK members, haters, racists, sexists, and bigots. To hint/imply/argue/shout that I am disgraced federal employee, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes stress a) that my Democrat GAO superiors forced me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, gave me unfair performance expectations and appraisals, always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, did not promote me beyond GS-13, got rid of my mentor in 1987, kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and forced me to take an $19,203 pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980; b) that my Democrat IRS superiors did not promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, got rid of my mentor in 1975, and disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974; and c) that my Democrat Post Office superiors forced me resign in 1969 and disallowed my sick leave requests in 1969 and 1968.)
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/ct-met-loizon-evans-lawsuit-20180418-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: A white supervisor in the Cook County Adult Probation Department has filed a federal lawsuit claiming he was wrongly dismissed last year, while numerous black employees in the department have received little or no discipline for alleged misconduct. Philippe Loizon, a former deputy chief who made about $115,000 a year, on Tuesday sued Chief Judge Timothy Evans, alleging that Evans, the county’s first African-American chief judge, had discriminated against him because of his race. Evans fired Loizon in May 2017 following a series of Tribune investigations into accusations that a rogue unit of officers under Loizon’s command had improperly teamed up with Chicago police and the FBI to conduct warrantless searches of homes, and coerced probationers to work as police informants. The county paid $110,000 to two Chicago men who alleged in federal civil rights lawsuits that probation officers, joined by the FBI and city police, conducted illegal searches of homes. And a series of gun cases fell apart following accusations of those questionable searches. Loizon, who was assigned to desk duty for two years before he was dismissed, said the Tribune’s accusations were false and were “based primarily on information provided to the reporters by convicted felons.” He said he had a “clean personnel record” and received outstanding job reviews during his 29 years with the probation department. He alleged Evans treated him differently because he is white. “Evans imposed discipline against Loizon in a manner and at a level he had never imposed on an African-American employee of the (department), despite conduct of an egregious nature by some of the African-American employees,” according to the suit. Evans’ spokesman, Pat Milhizer, declined to comment, citing a state Supreme Court rule that he said forbids judges and court personnel from commenting on pending court matters. One of Loizon’s lawyers, Gregory Friedman, declined to comment Wednesday, referring the Tribune to a statement he issued last June. In that statement, Friedman said Loizon was an exemplary employee who was wrongly fired, and that the Tribune had “done a great disservice to a good man. “Throughout his employment, Mr. Loizon performed his duties in an outstanding manner and in conformity with Departmental polices,” Friedman wrote then. “Philippe Loizon was a diligent and dedicated probation officer and Deputy Chief.” In his suit, Loizon identified 12 current and former probation officers, all of whom are black, who allegedly committed misconduct or violated department policy, yet received little or no punishment at all. The suit cited a probation officer who frequently worked to turn probationers into police informants; an officer who falsely claimed to meet with probationers who actually turned out to be in jail or dead; and an officer who shot and wounded a 14-year-old boy. Loizon said that none of those employees were disciplined. Loizon is seeking reinstatement as deputy chief, back pay with interest, compensatory and punitive damages, and his lawyers’ fees and expenses.)

NPR ILLINOIS
— Gubernatorial Candidates Have Fence-Mending Ahead – DAISY CONTRERAS (DIERSEN: What does Rauner say to his advisors who tell him that the harder that he works against the Illinois Republican Party platform, the more votes that he will get from Democrats and from Independents?)
http://nprillinois.org/post/gubernatorial-candidates-have-fence-mending-ahead#stream/0
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Last month, the state’s voters decided on the Republican and Democratic nominees for governor. But the primaries behind them, the winners still have to convince those who wanted someone else at the top of the ticket. Incumbent Gov. Bruce Rauner probably thought he didn’t need to worry about his only Republican opponent, state Rep. Jeanne Ives, during the primary campaign. In the past, he’d called her a “fringe candidate” and decided to forgo campaigning against her until just a few weeks before election day. When the votes were tallied election night, Rauner had snuck past Ives by just 3 percentage points. It was closer than most expected, and the governor acknowledged that in his victory speech by saying he had heard the message those dissatisfied voters were sending him. “I have traveled the state and I have listened to you,” he said in his election night speech. . .Rauner, on the other hand, must try to get more than the 50 percent of Republicans who voted to renew their trust in him and get them out to the polls in November. Chris Mooney, a political science professor at the University of Illinois Chicago, said the governor has the more difficult task of restoring trust with a large segment of his party’s base. “And so the question is can Rauner look to them – he doesn’t have to worry about them voting for Pritzker, I think that’s pretty clear. What he has to do is get them to come out to vote in November.” . . . Rauner has done his best to separate himself from President Trump, but there are similarities in their backgrounds. Both tout success in business and very wealthy. Rauner’s wealth has been a key rallying point for Democrats, who view him as out of touch with the working class and spotlight his attacks on organized labor to make their point. . .Rauner has been traveling the state campaigning, it appears he has yet to bring Ives’ backers into the fold. This may not be an easy feat to accomplish – even for the wealthy governor. Ives was heavily outspent, but she was able to easily tap into the dissatisfaction among conservatives who felt Rauner had broken his promise on key legislation, including a measure to allow public funding for abortions. Despite a push from conservative groups – and even Chicago Cardinal Blaise Cupich – to hold the governor to his word, Rauner signed the legislation into law. Ives herself makes that point, saying many of her supporters feel betrayed. “There are supporter voters of mine, they are saying we are not going to vote for him regardless of what he says.” While the circumstances might be different, the insurgent campaign Ives ran harkens to Donald Trump defeating establishment Republicans on his way to the White House. Those who felt left out, or maybe taken for granted, went for Trump and sent a message. In Illinois, Rauner doesn’t deny there is still work for him to do. Soon after election night, Rauner hit the campaign trail to acknowledge there were some divisive issues. “And I know now, as I’ve known for a while that we need to find common ground to bridge the divides.” As for Ives, she has said she will vote for Rauner but made it clear she has no plans to campaign for him. While both Pritzker and Rauner will spend the next several months telling all voters why they should be elected, they’ll also be busy mending fences – in their own political backyards.)

HOT AIR
— You Won’t Believe What Tax Reform Will Cost Wealthy Californians In 2019 – ED MORRISSEY (DIERSEN: Roskam should increase the $10,000 SALT cap to $20,000 for married filing jointly.)
https://hotair.com/archives/2018/04/18/wont-believe-tax-reform-will-cost-wealthy-californians-2019/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: President Donald Trump’s tax cuts will be anything but for about 1 million California taxpayers who will owe Uncle Sam more money a year from now. They’re the Californians who will lose a collective $12 billion because the new law caps a deduction they have been able to take for paying their state and local taxes, according to a new analysis by the Franchise Tax Board. Very wealthy Californians earning more than $1 million a year will pay the lion’s share of that money, with 43,000 of them paying a combined $9 billion. It’s not all coming from the wealthy. Another $1.1 billion will come from households earning less than $250,000, hiking their tax liability $4400 on average. That’s not peanuts, but it’s a far cry from the average $209,302 per family that will be owed by those households earning more than a million dollars a year. Put this another way. That represents the federal tax liabilities that everyone else in the country subsidized through SALT. The “progressive” income tax used taxes paid by people in low-tax states to repay the wealthy for their taxes in places like California. The SALT deduction really only comes into play for people who can itemize enough to outstrip the standard deductions, so its benefit plays mostly to the wealthy anyway. It also plays mostly to the benefit of a very few states. California and New York taxpayers soak up almost third of all benefits from SALT deductions; add in New Jersey, Illinois, Texas, and Pennsylvania, and they account for more than half of its benefits.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Ford also took the opportunity to announce that the Mustang is the world’s bestselling sports car for its third year in a row. Ford sold 125,809 Mustangs in 146 countries in 2017, with sales of 81,866 in the U.S., and 7,125 in China. Ford says it has sold 418,000 globally since the Mustang went international again in 2015, and despite the cost of gasoline elsewhere, the GT with its 5.0-liter V-8 is the most popular model. — How did Ives spend her money?
https://capitolfax.com/2018/04/16/how-did-ives-spend-her-money/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: I took a quick look at her expenditures and found a few interesting items. For instance, that book her campaign published and mailed to voters about Gov. Rauner cost her $385,680 via Jameson Books Inc., which is based in Ottawa. Ives spent $2,748,284.85 on advertising, including $64,660 to run spots on the Illinois News Network, which used to be run by the Illinois Policy Institute. She reported spending $257K on media production and just $3,759.65 on polls. Her spokesperson Kathleen Murphy was paid a mere $1,000, which is really odd. Pundit and PR person Dennis Byrne was paid $20,000 for contractual services. Trump Tower got $1,294 for lodging and an event, while Uline Ship was paid $352.68. And, finally, a company called Union Signs and Printing received $4,200 for yard signs out of a total of $35K spent on the signs. A look at her in-kind contributions show Proft’s Illinois Opportunity Project paid for a plane ride the day before the election.)

NBC5
— 16th District Letter Suggests Divide in Illinois GOP – Mary Ann Ahern
https://www.nbcchicago.com/blogs/ward-room/mcglasson-16th-district-letter-479917943.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: A letter mailed to Republicans in one Illinois district shows just how divided the state party is after the contentious primary. The message is directed to 16th District Committeeman John McGlasson — who did not support Gov. Bruce Rauner, but rather Jeanne Ives. McGlasson also did not support Congressman Adam Kinzinger. The letter, signed by four current lawmakers, asks McGlasson not to run for committeeman again. The same letter was also mailed to all of the newly elected precinct committeemen in the 16th District. (THE LETTER) McGlasson tells NBC 5 he will not be deterred and is going to run for the committeeman post again and expects to win. He sees the letter from the lawmakers as a way to silence his voice. McGlasson says he will “certainly support Rauner over JB Pritzker, even if I would have preferred Ives.” The letter in question is signed by state representatives David Welter and Jerry Long, as well as state senators Chuck Weaver and Dave Syerson. Weaver tells NBC 5 “The letter focused far more on the congressional race” than McGlasson’s support for Ives. Welter says the letter was not just sent to McGlasson but also “every newly elected precinct committeeman in the 16th district”. He adds “myself and several leaders feel that it would be in the best interest of the party and to achieve unity moving forward if McGlasson were to not run again and allow new leadership.”)
— ‘Roseanne’ Hasn’t Changed Much, But the City That Inspired It Has “It is crazy to me that she’s a Trump supporter because that is so divisive and he is so divisive” (DIERSEN: What percent of those who have moved into Elgin in recent decades are anti-Trump, anti-Protestant, anti-conservative, anti-patriotic, anti-Republican, anti-American, anti-White, anti-male, anti-older people, anti-rich people, anti-gun owners, anti-German Americans, anti-draft avoiders, and/or anti-those whose ancestors have been in America for a long time?)
https://www.nbcchicago.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/Changes-in-Elgin-City-That-Inspired-Roseanne-479880063.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: When “Roseanne” was first on TV from 1988 to 1997, the Chicago suburb of Elgin that inspired the show’s setting was predominantly white and Republican, with a rusted out economy. Not anymore, NBC News reports. In the years when “Roseanne” was off the air, it became majority Hispanic and voted for Obama and Hillary Clinton. Its economy is on the rebound, too, featuring a huge riverboat casino. At the Dutch Inn West, a dusty bar where Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump voters of various ethnic backgrounds watched the latest episode over $2 beers, some residents said they love “Roseanne,” even if it doesn’t get the city’s diversity right.)

CHICAGO TRIBUNE
— Democrats had strong showing in DuPage County Board primary – Kimberly Fornek (DIERSEN: What about your precinct? According to final results that I received today, of the 504 registered voters in my precinct, 219 voted, 112 cast Republican ballots, 107 cast Democrat ballots, 68 voted for Ives, and 43 voted for Rauner.)
http://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/hinsdale/news/ct-dhd-dupage-county-board-elect-tl-0419-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: More Democratic ballots, 15,740, were cast in the District 3 primary than Republican, 13,934 ballots, according to the DuPage County Election Commission. Greg Hart of Hinsdale, with 8,427 votes, and Downers Grove Mayor Martin T. Tully, with 6,924 votes, won the Republican primary for District 3, defeating Woodridge Village Board member Greg Abbott, who received 5,793 votes. Democratic voters also outnumbered Republican voters in the primaries for County Board seats in Districts 1 and 2. Peickert suspects that may be due to more independent voters going to the polls than traditional Republican voters pulling Democratic ballots. In District 1, Democratic ballots totaled 10,326 compared to the 9,936 Republican ballots cast. The difference was even greater in District 2, where 16,614 Democratic ballots were cast compared to 13,141 Republican ones. In District 2, where two seats will be up for election in November, incumbent Democrat Elizabeth (Liz) Chaplin of Downers Grove was the top vote-getter among both parties. She received 10,203 votes, followed by Arlene Kendorski, also of Downers Grove, who received 5,429, to win the Democratic primary. Coming in third was Claire Goldenberg of Lisle with 5,232 votes. Incumbent Peter DiCianni of Elmhurst and Steve Nero ran uncontested in the Republican primary and received 8,189 and 7,621 votes respectively. District 2 includes all or parts of Oak Brook, Oakbrook Terrace, Hinsdale, Clarendon Hills, Elmhurst, Lombard, Westmont, Downers Grove and Naperville. The Democratic primary in District 1, where two seats also were up election, was uncontested. Ashley J. Selmon received 6,417 votes and Zahra Suratwala received 5,431. In a three-way Republican primary for District 1, incumbent Sam Tornatore of Roselle was the top vote-getter with 6,819 votes, followed by Dino Gavanes of Itasca with 4,226 votes. They bested Paul DeMichele of unincorporated Bensenville, who received 4,079 votes. District 1 includes at least portions of portions of Elmhurst, Bensenville, Bloomingdale, Itasca, Lombard, Roselle, Villa Park and Wood Dale.)

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opinion/commentary/ct-perspec-deductions-0417-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: For many upper-middle-class residents of high-tax states, Tuesday will be the last time we can file to receive a full tax deduction for our state and local income and property taxes. Many Democratic voters in high-tax states cried foul when the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act capped these deductions at $10,000 from 2018 onward, and some are trying to fight back. “We’re attempting to come up with ways to negate and blunt the harsh and unfair Republican tax policy,” Kevin de Leon, the Democratic leader of the California Senate, told CNBC. Several states are devising schemes to allow residents to pay some of their state tax liability as a gift to a charitable fund rather than directly to the state government, restoring its deductibility. Such efforts are misguided. The overall tax bill may be a disaster, but nixing those deductions was the progressive thing to do. Liberals should train their ire elsewhere.)

https://www.onenewsnow.com/church/2018/04/16/pro-trump-evangelicals-personae-non-gratae
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Several dozen anti-Trump evangelical leaders are meeting today and tomorrow at Wheaton College to discuss how to rescue the movement they contend has become tainted by its association with President Trump. Doug Birdsall of the Lausanne Movement and Darrell Bock of Dallas Theological Seminary have arranged the invitation-only meeting of likeminded pastors, authors, and seminary staff together. According to The Christian Post, they want to refocus the movement away from politics but fully expect Trump to be the “elephant in the room.” Attendees reportedly include Pastor Tim Keller, Wheaton College’s Ed Stetzer, Fuller Seminary President Mark Labberton, NYC megachurch pastor A.R. Bernard, and many others who have publicly expressed their displeasure with President Trump. Other high-profile individuals in evangelicalism – like Franklin Graham of Samaritan’s Purse, Jerry Falwell Jr. of Liberty University, Dr. Robert Jeffress of First Baptist-Dallas, and a host of other evangelicals who support President Trump – are “not involved in [the] discussions yet,” Birdsall responded when asked. “I have been in touch with two of their offices with a desire to engage in a meaningful conversation,” CP quotes Birdsall saying. “I don’t think they are globally perceived as evangelical thought leaders by virtue of what they have written or by virtue of the values that are reflected in their public statements.” Dr. Richard Land of Southern Evangelical Seminary says a look at who’s invited – and who’s not – betrays their real purpose: marginalizing evangelicals who support President Trump. “Any definition of ‘thought leaders’ and any definition of evangelicalism that excludes the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Franklin Graham is a pale imitation – anemic and incomplete,” says Land. The organizers’ complaint is that supporting Trump excuses his past indiscretions and taints the evangelical movement. Robert Jeffress – who is among Trump’s evangelical advisors – says the president’s past and very public failings are immoral and offensive, but still better than the alternative in 2016.)

http://abc7chicago.com/politics/weekend-watch-public-officials-facing-less-scrutiny-by-journalists/3338139/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: There is a lack of transparency, efficiency, service or accountability. The job of journalists and watchdogs is to hold government officials and politicians accountable. But with fewer and fewer professional reporters on the case, as print and broadcast media keep shedding staff to cut costs, such as the Chicago Tribune cutbacks last month, public officials face less scrutiny. The BGA believes that the Riverdale library’s transgressions should be investigated by the Illinois attorney general. However, there aren’t enough watchdogs left to shine a light on every Riverdale and hold all their officials accountable, and that should alarm every taxpayer in Illinois. — LGBT courses will be added to Illinois public schools’ curriculum if lawmakers approve pending bill – Teri Webster (DIERSEN: Ever-increasingly, those who run Illinois make it clear that if you do not promote LGBTQ activity, they want you to leave Illinois, like the Nazis made it increasingly clear that they wanted Jews to leave Germany.)
https://www.theblaze.com/news/2018/04/14/lgbt-courses-will-be-added-to-illinois-public-schools-curriculum-if-lawmakers-approve-pending-bill
(FROM THE ARTICLE: What have opponents said? But this is different, opponents said, because it goes against the religious beliefs of other students. Adding LGBT beliefs to public school curriculums would force some students to hear about personal values counter to what they believe, said Ralph Rivera, a lobbyist with the conservative Illinois Family Institute. “Where’s the protection for students and parents who have a religious belief?” Rivera told the Chicago Tribune. “Which has always been the case, this is not a new, avant-garde thing that they find this behavior to be against their religious beliefs and their churches’ or synagogues’ beliefs. No one seems to be mindful of that. They don’t care.” The Illinois Association of School Boards is also leery of the proposal. The board typically opposes most state requirements for schools because they believe districts, not lawmakers, should make such decisions, the Chicago Tribune reported. . .Illinois has a history of supporting LGBT issues. For example: The state approved same-sex marriage before the U.S. Supreme Court allowed it nationwide. Last year, lawmakers approved a measure to allow transgenders in the state to change the sex listed on their birth certificates. A new law plans the “gay panic defense,” which allowed criminals charged with first degree murder to maintain they “acted out of passion after learning their victim was gay or transgender.”)

https://www.opensecrets.org/news/2018/04/whats-next-for-paul-ryan/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: When Paul Ryan retires from Congress this year, he will become the youngest speaker of the House to willingly surrender his seat since Theodore Pomeroy, who served for just a few hours in 1869. Ryan told reporters Wednesday that he’s leaving to spend more time with his three children, but at just 48 years old, he has little experience in the private sector. Fresh out of college, Ryan worked as a personal trainer, later waiting tables at a Tex-Mex restaurant in his early days as an aide on Capitol Hill. Before winning his seat at age 28, he spent a year as a marketing consultant for his family’s construction company.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: It’s been three-weeks since the Republican primary election, and Governor Bruce Rauner’s failure to bury the hatchet with state Representative Jeanne Ives is taking its toll on the Governor’s reelection. On Monday, Rauner wanted to talk about his legislative agenda, but he was instead bombarded with question after question about Ives and Republican disunity. (VIDEO) “Bruce Rauner could have reached out to Jeanne Ives three weeks ago, but he decided to ignore Ives and the 48% of Republicans who supported her” said DGA Illinois Communications Sam Salustro. “Now, questions about Ives and Republican disunity are threating to sink the most vulnerable incumbent’s reelection campaign.”)

http://www.wbiw.com/state/archive/2018/04/new-e-verifygov-website-a-user-friendly-source-to-verify-employment-eligibility.php
(FROM THE ARTICLE: U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) today announced the launch of their new website, E-Verify.gov. This is the authoritative source for information on electronic employment eligibility verification. E-Verify.gov is for employers, employees and the general public.
The user-friendly website provides information about E-Verify and Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, including employee rights and employer responsibilities in the employment verification process. E-Verify.gov allows employers to enroll in E-Verify directly and permits current users to access their accounts. Individuals with myE-Verify accounts can also access their accounts through E-Verify.gov. “For the past decade, E-Verify has been the cornerstone of our continued commitment to helping employers maintain a legal workforce,” said USCIS Director L. Francis Cissna. “E-Verify.gov now allows users to better understand and navigate through the employment verification process.” E-Verify is a free, easy-to-use internet-based system. Employers can access E-Verify anytime, anywhere directly from a web browser. Nearly all employees are confirmed as work-authorized instantly or within 24 hours. The system, which has nearly 800,000 enrolled employers, compares information from an employee’s Form I-9 to records available to the Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration to verify authorization to work in the U.S. On April 18, 2017, President Trump signed the Buy American and Hire American executive order to help reduce illegal immigration and preserve jobs for U.S. workers. To support these objectives, USCIS encourages all U.S. employers to verify all new hires through E-Verify.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Over just a few days last week, the essence of Trumpism was on global display: The president ignored his advisers by congratulating Vladimir Putin, took the first steps toward imposing tariffs on billions of dollars in Chinese goods and signed a huge $1.3 trillion spending bill that will balloon the federal deficit. In each case, President Donald Trump cast aside years of Republican orthodoxy – and most of the party followed right along. The raw, undefined brand of populism that Trump rode into office is now hardening into a clearer set of policies in his second year, remaking the Republican Party and the country on issues ranging from trade and immigration to spending and entitlement programs.)

http://www.sj-r.com/opinion/20180324/bernard-schoenburg-rauner-says-he-remembers-but-wont-yet-name-computerless-office
(FROM THE ARTICLE: While Democrats elected members of their state central committee in the primary, members of the GOP’s state committee will be elected by precinct committeemen at county conventions on April 18. And a race is shaping up in the 13th Congressional District. DUSTIN PETERSON, 37, of Clinton, an independent insurance agent who has been DeWitt County GOP chairman since 2014, is taking on incumbent member FRED FLORETH of Springfield, a lawyer finishing his first four-year term in the party post. “I’m not running against Fred, I’m running more just to try to expand my role with the Republican Party, and try to learn more and be more involved and try to, for lack of a better word … get a little more of a youth movement in there,” Peterson said. Peterson said he was neutral in the governor’s primary, has supported Rauner in the past and supports him in the general election. “Hopefully we can all come together as a party,” he said. Floreth, who turns 62 this weekend, put on an impressive campaign back in 2014 when he defeated an incumbent on the central committee, JERRY CLARKE. The 13th includes all or parts of 14 counties. Floreth, who supported Rauner in the primary, also says the party must come together after last week’s primary. He said he knows there some profound disagreements in the party, as illustrated by the showing of Rauner’s primary opponent, state Rep. JEANNE IVES. But he said all in the party “would have to conclude Governor Rauner is by far the better option” to run the state than Democratic candidate J.B. PRITZKER. Floreth says he thinks he has accomplished goals he set when he ran four years ago, including improving the experience of precinct committeemen at the state convention through allowing more say in policy and helping keep information flowing between the central committee and local party officials. He noted that he sends out a newsletter at least every other week, and helped improve training for precinct committeemen.)

— Rauner Still Claims No Social Agenda – Greg Bishop (DIERSEN: If that is true, than Rauner should happily sign a “Contract with Illinois Republicans” in which he would agree to take no actions against the traditional family, right to life, immigration, and the rest of the planks in the Illinois Republican Party platform.)
http://altondailynews.com/news/details.cfm?clientid=17&id=262334#.WrdmJcuKSM8
(FROM THE ARTICLE: In starting his post-primary re-election campaign, Gov. Bruce Rauner said Thursday he still doesn’t have a social agenda, but critics disagree. During a campaign stop in Springfield two days after narrowly winning the Republican nomination, Rauner said he has no social agenda, something the wealthy political newcomer maintained before being elected as a Republican in 2014. “You’ve never ever seen me or heard me or watched me advocate on social issues. I’ve never done it,” Rauner said. “I advocate on lower taxes, more jobs and ending corruption.” State Rep. David McSweeney, who has called Rauner a failed governor, said Rauner approved more abortions to be paid for by taxpayers and a measure that prohibits law enforcement from detaining someone based solely on that person’s immigration status. “He does have a social agenda,” McSweeney, R-Barrington Hills, said. “He signed [House Bill] 40. He signed [Senate Bill] 31, which definitely is a sanctuary state bill.” McSweeney said SB31, also known as the TRUST Act, prohibits law enforcement from detaining someone based solely on that person’s immigration status. “It’s been a very big issue up in my area, in Lake County and McHenry County, where there are real examples of people who are being let out of jail even though the federal government wants them detained,” he said.)

How many voters in your precinct asked you about the candidates on the March 20, 2018 Republican ballot in your precinct? None of the 504 registered voters in my precinct asked me about the candidates on the March 20, 2018 Republican ballot in my precinct. Sadly, disgustingly, and outrageously, that is not surprising. Since 1999, those who dominate the Milton Township Republican Central Committee, the DuPage County Republican Central Committee, and the Illinois Republican Party have done everything that they can to discredit me with the voters in my precinct. Officially, they hint/imply/argue/shout that I am “too conservative,” and because of that, candidates that I might promote in primaries are “too conservative” to win general elections. But from what I see, having lived in my precinct since 1984, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes hint/imply/argue/shout behind my back, under the table, and below the belt at the voters in my precinct and at everyone else that I am a White supremacist, Nazi, KKK member, hater, racist, sexist, bigot, and even worse things. I should write a book about my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes. Maybe I should sue them.)
http://qconline.com/opinion/editorial/raise-your-hand-if-you-voted-for-neo-nazi/article_e2c4d73e-6884-5df2-b165-711325137bd1.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: It wasn’t democracy’s finest hour. On Election Day, the sole Republican candidate for the U.S. House in Illinois’ 3rd Congressional District was a Holocaust denier and neo-Nazi. And he got more than 20,000 votes. Ugh. Ideally, Arthur Jones would have received no votes because he deserves no support. But even one vote – his own – would have been enough to win Tuesday’s primary because he ran unopposed. Instead he got 20,458. The Cook County Clerk’s Office reports that 70 percent of suburban voters in the district pulling a Republican ballot checked his name. We blame a lack of situational awareness. Republicans didn’t bother to recruit a legitimate candidate because the district is gerrymandered to elect a Democrat. So Jones waltzed in and now is set to run on their ticket in November against incumbent Rep. Dan Lipinski. This embarrassment is on Republicans. Let both parties stay awake during future filing periods to prevent unsavory characters from hijacking their good names. Most voters didn’t intend to support Jones, we’re certain. They voted the party line and automatically filled in the box next to his name. Why research an unopposed candidate? We wish they had paid more attention to news reports. If they feel a little chagrined, they ought to. The lesson here is democracy is imperfect. But it’s also self-correcting, 3rd District residents. This November: Vote Lipinski. All of you.)

While I attended Crete-Monee High School 1962-1966, I took college preparatory courses notwithstanding the fact that many, if not most, if not virtually everyone at the time viewed me as NOT being “college material.” Neither of my parents had attended college. My father was the first of his ancestors to earn a high school diploma. My mother never attended high school. I spent my junior and senior years and the summer in between washing dishes for the minimum wage in the basement of the S.S. Kresges in Chicago Heights. I just barely made into the top 20% of my class, my ACT score was only 24, I was draft bait, my eyesight could not be corrected to 20/20, I had partial red/green color blindness, and I had Osgood-Schlatter disease (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osgood%E2%80%93Schlatter_disease). Further, my father had fought type 1 diabetes from age 14. I am sure that many thought that I would soon come down with type 1 diabetes too.)

WALL STREET JOURNAL
— Health-Insurance Premiums Loom as Election Issue – Stephanie Armour (DIERSEN: How much do you pay in health insurance premiums? Because I am a federal retiree, my wife and I pay only $6,000/year for $24,000/year worth of health, dental, and vision insurance premiums – the federal government pays $18,000/year. Needless-to-say, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes are beyond furious about that. Because we get that $18,000/year subsidy, they viciously demonize me, viciously denigrate me, and viciously condemn me. They hint/imply/argue/shout behind my back, under the table, and below the belt at the voters in my precinct and at everyone else that I am a White supremacist, Nazi, KKK member, hater, racist, sexist, bigot, and even worse things. I should write a book about my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes. Maybe I should sue them.)

Reasons why I accepted IRS’s job offer in 1971 included my being unemployed and needing money to help support my mother and brother. Reasons why I accepted GAO’s job offer in 1980 included my being impressed with GAO’s mission and my hoping that GAO really was a non-partisan agency like it claimed it was.)

In today’s dollars, I should have had $626,625 saved when I was 50, $751,950 saved when I was 55, $877,275 saved when I was 60, and $1,002,600 saved when I was 65. I did not have the aforesaid saved because my Democrat GAO superiors succeeded in forcing me to take their early retirement “offer” in 1997 when I was 49 years old.)
https://www.cheatsheet.com/money-career/broke-middle-class-really-afford-retirement.html/?a=viewall
(FROM THE ARTICLE: An alarming 70% of American adults have less than $1,000 in their savings accounts. Experts have crunched the numbers to identify how much you should have saved at each age milestone for a comfortable retirement. By age 30, aim to have the equivalent of your annual salary saved. Every five years, increase this in single increments: By 35, you should have twice your annual salary saved and by 40-years-old you should have three times. By 65-years-old this will leave you with a savings equivalent to eight times your annual salary.)

DAILY HERALD
— Primary surprise: Democrats pull more ballots than Republicans in 3 traditional GOP counties – Robert Sanchez (DIERSEN: When Democrats take over, a) prosperity and safety decrease and b) poverty and crime increase.)
http://www.dailyherald.com/news/20180324/primary-surprise-dems-pull-more-ballots-than-republicans-in-3-traditional-gop-counties
(FROM THE ARTICLE: More Democrats voted in DuPage than Republicans. There were 82,943 Democratic ballots cast countywide during the primary, according to unofficial results, compared to 72,843 by Republicans. DuPage wasn’t the only place to experience the shift: Democrats in Lake and Kane counties also pulled more ballots than Republicans. That turnout has the DuPage Democratic Party talking about a “Blue Wave” on its website and Chairman Robert Peickert saying the party may abandon the idea of focusing on only a few county board races. “Democrats are very energized,” Peickert said. “I think they are ready to make a big move in November nationally, statewide and here in DuPage.” . . . “We projected we were going to be way down,” said Brian Krajewski, chairman of the DuPage Republican Party. “We didn’t have many contested races.” Krajewski said there also are indications that many Republicans pulled Democratic ballots to vote against one of the governor candidates. “They were pulling Democratic ballots because they didn’t want J.B. Pritzker,” he said.)

PEORIA JOURNAL STAR
— Winning back Ives supporters will take time – Doug Finke
http://www.pjstar.com/news/20180324/statehouse-insider-winning-back-ives-supporters-will-take-time
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The dust from the primary election has had a chance to settle a bit, but one thing seems clear: Gov. Bruce Rauner will have his hands full trying to win over supporters of Rep. Jeanne Ives. Rauner’s going to need her supporters in November if the predictions come true of a huge Democratic turnout. He may need to make a more public display of soliciting their support than he has so far. About the only positive thing Ives has said so far about Rauner since election night is that she would vote for him in November because he is a Republican. She said she would not endorse him or campaign for him. And then there was the post-election interview she did with WBEZ where she was asked if Rauner or Democratic challenger JB Pritzker would make a better governor. Forty seconds of silence followed before Ives uttered Rauner’s name. Was it a kiss of death? We’ve now gone through the first election since the General Assembly broke a two-year deadlock and passed a new state budget. One key to passing the budget was that a number of House Republicans ignored the wishes of Republican leadership and voted for both a budget and a tax increase to pay for it. Let’s look at the results, since the tax hike in particular infuriated many Republicans. There are two votes to keep in mind. First was the initial vote to pass the tax hike, and then a second vote to override Rauner’s veto. On the first go-around, 15 House Republicans voted for the tax hike. When it came time to vote for the override — the crucial vote to actually put the tax hike in place — only 10 of the original 15 voted “yes.” Of the other five, one was absent and the other four switched their votes on the override. Of the 10 who voted for the override, seven opted not to run for re-election. Two faced primary challenges and won. One has a general election opponent, but did not have a primary. Of the four who switched their votes, one opted not to run; two had primary opponents and won; and the fourth was defeated in the primary. The lawmaker who was absent chose not to seek reelection. The anti-tax crowd can claim victory if they want, contending the GOP lawmakers who voted for the tax hike merely fled before voters could oust them. But it also appears that a vote to raise taxes wasn’t an automatic kiss of death when voters had a chance to weigh in.)
