— White House, Warren Farrell mull fix to ‘boy crisis’ – Cheryl K. Chumley
https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2020/mar/6/white-house-warren-farrell-mull-fix-boy-crisis/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Warren Farrell, co-author of “The Boy Crisis,” says America has a problem with males and it’s one that goes like this: They’re not being raised to be men. And how true that is. Today’s boys are being taught that masculinity is a disease. Where that’s led is to a rash of fatherless homes — and where that’s led is to a rash of behavioral, mental and psychological problems with the nation’s youth. It’s high time to end the experiment called radical feminism, the one where men aren’t needed and women can raise kids without male presences. It’s time to — as Farrell’s coined it — Make the American Family Great Again. MAGA, with a kick. “The boy crisis resides where fathers do not reside,” Farrell says. And in recent weeks, he’s met and spoken with a variety of folks from President Donald Trump’s administration, including officials with the Health and Human Services agency, the Department of Justice and within the hallowed halls of the White House. His goal is to create a national MAFGA program that would offer a Father Warrior Training program to help get America’s males back on the leadership track — to help bring back the once-valued masculine traits of responsibility, duty, strength and yes, love. To help teach those in the elementary levels how to be a proper father. This is no small task. Neither is it trite.)

— How Much Should Older Workers And Retirees Invest In The Stock Market? – Steve Vernon
https://www.forbes.com/sites/stevevernon/2020/03/03/how-much-should-older-workers-and-retirees-invest-in-the-stock-market/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Start by developing sources of retirement income that won’t drop when the market crashes; these sources should cover the cost of your “needs,” or at least come close. Such sources include Social Security, a pension if you’re lucky enough to have one, and cost-effective annuities you can purchase from an insurance company. Once you’ve developed enough sources of guaranteed retirement income to cover your basic living expenses, hopefully you should feel confident enough to invest your remaining savings significantly in stocks to give your money the potential for growth. This part of your savings can be invested in low-cost target date funds, balanced funds, stock index funds, or real estate investment trust (REIT) mutual funds. Then, use these savings to generate a regular retirement paycheck through a systematic withdrawal plan that covers the cost of your “wants”—hobbies, travel, gifts, and spoiling the grandchildren. When the stock market crashes, be prepared to reduce this retirement paycheck—and the money you’re spending on “wants” —while you’re waiting for the market to recover. If you put this type of plan in place, then, when the market crashes, you should have the patience and confidence to keep your investments in place and ride out the crash. Spend the time necessary to design a thoughtful retirement investing strategy, and you’ll be able to enjoy your life in retirement.)

— 5 Tips to Help Your Retirement Savings Last as Long as You Live – Matthew Stratman (DIERSEN: The cost of living in Wheaton is very high. My Civil Service Retirement System pension is dramatically lower because my Democrat superiors in the federal government wasted my career and forced me to take their early retirement “offer” in 1997 when I was 49 years old. Consequently, starting this year, my wife and I are forced to spend our retirement savings to pay for non-discretionary expenses.)
https://www.kiplinger.com/slideshow/retirement/T037-S001-cheapest-u-s-cities-for-early-retirement-2019/index.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: 3. Adopt an adaptive withdrawal (and spending) plan. Be flexible with your discretionary retirement spending, and be willing to reduce income when needed. By setting guardrails you know when to decrease the income in the years when the portfolio is in decline. Having an adaptive withdrawal strategy will allow for higher income in years when the portfolio is rising and help protect your principal during a decline.)

https://thehill.com/blogs/in-the-know/in-the-know/485922-antonio-sabato-jr-backing-trump-got-me-blacklisted
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Antonio Sabàto Jr. says he’s working construction after being “blacklisted” by Hollywood for his support of President Trump. “All my representatives left me, from agents to managers to commercial agents. I literally had to move, find a new job to survive and take care of my kids,” the former Calvin Klein model said in an interview this week with Variety. “It’s been terrible. It’s mind-blowing. It’s a disgrace. It’s tough, because if you’re in that environment in Hollywood and you have something to say that they don’t like, they’re going to let you know,” Sabàto said. The 48-year-old former “Melrose Place” actor was one of a handful of entertainers to vocally support Trump’s 2016 White House bid, and spoke at that year’s Republican National Convention. “I was the first celebrity to come out and talk about the president, and he had my vote from day one,” Sabàto told the magazine. But after Trump won office, Sabàto says his job offers in the entertainment industry dried up, forcing him to pack up and move to Florida for construction work. “I go on the job at two in the morning, and I’m making sure that the job is controlled and supervised by me. I’m in the car all day, driving, going through all the sites. Five days a week, nonstop,” he explained. The one-time GOP House candidate — Sabàto lost a 2018 bid to unseat Rep. Julia Brownley (D-Calif.) — claims other pro-Trump performers are reluctant to publicly vocalize their support for the commander in chief. “I know a lot of actors who are lying about who they’re going to vote for because they don’t want the crap,” Sabàto said. “They won’t want to be talked about and fired from movie sets. This is serious.” “The reality is the power that makes movies happen in Hollywood — casting directors, producers, executive producers, directors — they’re all liberal,” said Sabàto, while also noting he’ll vote for Trump’s reelection in November. “They hate anyone or anything who supports this president.”)

Neither the RNC, IRP, DCRCC, nor MTRO a) pay me anything, b) help me put the emails together or send them out, or c) encourage anyone to read the emails. I should write a book about those who paint themselves as being operatives or as dupes for the RNC, IRP, DCRCC, and/or MTRO who do everything that they can a) to stop me from putting the emails together and sending them out and b) to stop everyone from reading the emails.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The action comes on the heels of a State Department decision on Feb. 18 requiring five Chinese news organizations considered organs of the government to register as foreign missions and provide the names of employees. China responded by expelling three Beijing-based Wall Street Journal reporters, condemning as “racist” an essay that ran on the paper’s opinion page criticizing China’s response to the coronavirus outbreak. Senior State Department officials said the decision to cap the number of Chinese nationals working for the designated “propaganda outlets” in the United States at 100 overall, down from 160, reflected growing concern of a crackdown on press freedoms for both Chinese and foreign journalists. “For years the government of the PRC has imposed increasingly harsh surveillance, harassment and intimidation against American and other foreign journalists in China,” said one official, speaking on the condition of anonymity under State Department rules and using the acronym for the People’s Republic of China. “President Trump has made clear that Beijing’s restrictions on foreign journalists are misguided. He’s also made clear that the U.S. will establish long overdue reciprocity in our relations with China.”)

Most of Patschke’s team members are 60 years old and up, with a couple in their mid to late 50s. He bills them out at $150 to $300 an hour, depending on their specialties. — Who Is Really Voting? Why you shouldn’t trust exit polls—and why the 2020 electorate is much older than you think. – Phil Keisling
https://washingtonmonthly.com/2020/02/25/who-is-really-voting/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: It’s a familiar lament: the Democratic electorates in the nation’s first presidential contests are quite different from those elsewhere in America. Far less known and much less discussed: how wildly un-representative those voting so far in Iowa, New Hampshire, and Nevada, are when compared to those states’ typical Democratic electorates. The caucus system itself is the most visible culprit. Just 30 percent of Iowa’s 600,000 registered Democrats participated in the February 3 caucus. Meanwhile, Democratic turnout in Nevada was closer to 15 percent. Former Senator Harry Reid is right: both caucuses need to go. But the largely ignored, more insidious problem involves caucus “entrance” and election “exit” polls—or more precisely, the political journalists, pundits, and analysts who can’t separate their reliable data from that which is highly suspect, if not downright wrong.)

— Whistleblower Protection Laws for Federal Employee Whistleblowers (DIERSEN: Whistleblower Protection Laws did not protect me. While I was a federal employee for almost 30 years, I blew the whistle on political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation for opposing the aforesaid. To punish me, my Democrat GAO superiors forced me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, gave me unfair performance expectations and appraisals, always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, did not promote me beyond GS-13, got rid of my mentor in 1987, kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and forced me to take a $20,157 (21%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980. My Democrat IRS superiors did not promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, got rid of my mentor in 1975, and disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974. My Democrat Post Office superiors forced me resign in 1969 and disallowed my sick leave requests in 1969 and 1968.)
https://www.whistleblowers.org/whistleblower-protection-laws-for-federal-employee-whistleblowers/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Strong whistleblower protections already exist for federal employees. However, specific reforms to these laws are needed to make whistleblowing safer and more effective for federal employees. Understanding Federal Employee Whistleblower Protection Laws Passed in 1989, the Whistleblower Protection Act (WPA) is one of the primary statutes that outlines public employees’ right to speak out about misconduct, aimed at ensuring that all government employees can safely disclose “violations of laws, rules, or regulations, or mismanagement, gross waste of funds, abuse of authority and or a substantial and specific danger to public health and safety.” Additionally, Executive Order 12731, issued in 1990, requires all federal employees to “disclose waste, fraud, abuse, and corruption to authorities.” This Executive Order makes such disclosures mandatory in order to ensure standards of ethical conduct for all executive branch employees.)

THRIVE GLOBAL
— 3 Types of Workplace Discrimination (That Often Happen in Plain Sight) Workplace discrimination is getting plenty of attention lately. Here are three kinds of workplace discrimination that don’t get the attention they deserve. – Andrej Kovacevic (DIERSEN: I should write a book about those who promote age discrimination. I would focus age discriminators in Wheaton, Glen Ellyn, Milton Township, DuPage County, and Illinois who have lots of religious, government, political, and/or financial clout. I would focus on those who paint themselves as being religious, conservative, and/or Republican.)
https://thriveglobal.com/stories/3-types-of-workplace-discrimination-that-often-happen-in-plain-sight/

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Age Discrimination In today’s economy, it’s generally believed that we’re about as close to full employment as we’ve ever been before. That reality is pushing more traditionally underrepresented groups into the labor force, changing its composition in ways that we have never seen before. A prime example of this is the fact that people aged 65 and over are now the fastest-growing segment of the US labor pool. That, in turn, is driving a sharp increase in the number of incidents of age discrimination in the workplace. According to a recent survey, two in three US workers aged 45 or older report seeing or experiencing such discrimination at work, and that number seems to be rising. As long as unemployment remains low and more older Americans are forced to keep working due to financial insecurity as they approach retirement, age discrimination is likely to remain an issue for some time to come.)

The 32-page report published by the Citizens’ Audit Review and Measure LL Oversight Committee has sparked criticism and concerns by a group of 24 Laguna Beach residents with professional backgrounds in finance, business, accounting, and auditing who argue the panel should have at least one certified public accountant with expertise in auditing. Considering the city’s reported revenues were more than $109 million in 2017-18, this watchdog cadre says the taxpayers would be better served with additional experienced eyes on the city’s ledger.)

DAILY HERALD
— Endorsement: Almiron for Republicans in primary for DuPage County recorder
https://www.dailyherald.com/news/20200228/endorsement-almiron-for-republicans-in-primary-for-dupage-county-recorder
(FROM THE ENDORSEMENT: It’s easy to understand why both candidates for the Republican nomination for DuPage County recorder consider the position a perfect fit for their credentials. Ron Almiron, an attorney from Wheaton, has a long and deep history of service in local projects, service agencies, school and community boards and even more recently treasurer and CFO for the Wheaton Mosquito Abatement District. Babette Holder Youngberg, a communications professional from Wheaton, boasts a long history in real estate and property management that is specifically relevant to the duties of this office. Both candidates speak knowledgeably and think creatively about a role that demands a disciplined combination of attention to detail and customer service. Choosing between them is no simple matter for voters. The distinction for us comes down to depth of community involvement and level of detail in the vision for the office. Almiron’s diverse range of community, school and government activities gives him a slightly more refined sense for operating a government office, and he approaches the role with compelling intensity. Whoever ultimately wins the election in November, there is a possibility he or she will not serve long. If voters approve a consolidation measure in the General Election, the elected recorder’s position will be eliminated and the duties folded into other county offices. Youngberg and Almiron argue that the public is best served by an elected recorder but both agree to work cooperatively toward a smooth transition if voters decide to eliminate the office. Republican voters can’t go wrong with either candidate in this primary. Our choice is Almiron.)
— Endorsement: Grogan for Republicans for DuPage County auditor
https://www.dailyherald.com/news/20200228/endorsement-grogan-for-republicans-for-dupage-county-auditor
(FROM THE ENDORSEMENT: In nearly 12 years as DuPage County auditor, Bob Grogan has produced an impressive reputation for transparency, efficiency and competence. With justifiable pride, the Downers Grove Republican points to various state firsts he has implemented — including the first county checkbook online, the first transparency portal and the first auditor hotline. He has served as the president of the Association of Illinois County Auditors and notes that he knows how “to ask the awkward questions” that an auditor must raise when working with county officials to fix errors, find wrongdoing or just make things work better. His challenger for the party’s nomination in the March 17 primary is retired bank officer Jeffrey Mack, of Downers Grove. Mack has an appropriate financial background for auditor and a reasonable familiarity with the duties of the office. His strongest argument, however, is that he could bring a “fresh set of eyes” to the operation. That’s not an irrelevant point, but Mack doesn’t build on it by demonstrating why a new perspective alone would justify replacing an auditor with Grogan’s record and credentials. Grogan is Republicans’ strongest alternative for the November ballot, and he gets our endorsement.)

When I transferred from IRS to GAO in 1980 when I was 31 years old, my Democrat GAO superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinated did not want me to transfer, but failing that, they wanted me to transfer as a GS-4 Step 1 (currently $34,610/year) intern, that is, to suffer a $61,821/year (64%) pay cut in today’s dollars. They painted what GAO Analysts do as being a unique “trade or occupation.” They would not have done that if I had been a Democrat, minority, female, or veteran. They viciously demonized, denigrated, and condemned the fact a) that I had worked for IRS for almost 9 years, the last 5 1/2 years of which at the GS-12 Step 1-5 levels, currently $85,084-$96,431/year, b) that much of what IRS Revenue Officers do is similar to what GAO Analysts do, c) that I had passed the CPA examination on my first attempt in 1979, d) that I had earned an MBA from Loyola in 1976, and e) that I had almost completed the requirements for a master’s degree in accounting from DePaul. EXAMINER ENTERPRISE
— Lawmakers push back against effort to reduce qualifications for agency heads – Carmen Forman (DIERSEN: If I had not had a high school diploma, the Post Office would not have hired me in 1966. If I had not had a bachelor’s degree in management, Firestone Stores would not have hired me in 1970, Oldsmobile would not have offered me a job in 1971, and IRS would not have hired me in 1971. If I had not been taking graduate business courses, IRS might not have promoted me in 1972, 1973, and 1974. If I had not earned an MBA and passed the CPA examination on my first attempt, GAO would not have hired me in 1980. If I had not earned a master’s degree in accounting and passed the Certified Internal Auditor examination on my first attempt, GAO would not have promoted me in 1986. If I had not been taking graduate finance courses and earned a master’s degree in finance, GAO would have succeeded in forcing me to retire earlier than it did.)
