Eagle St. The Opt Out Naperville movement is hosting rallies at 10 a.m. Saturday in Central Park and 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Free Speech Pavilion along the Riverwalk to gather people who want the ban put into effect. Bruzan Taylor said she expects around 100 people to attend the Saturday event. “I would never have moved here if we had opted into selling recreational marijuana,” said Bruzan Taylor, a Naperville native who moved back to her hometown because of its strong reputation as a kid-friendly place. “I would have picked a suburb that didn’t.” In Chicago, where Bruzan Taylor and her family lived for about 10 years, she said neighbors using marijuana in their condo building would overwhelm the place with the smell of weed. If Naperville allows shops selling the drug for recreational purposes, she said she fears the same would happen in the state’s fourth-largest city. “I know it’s supposed to be on private property only,” she said about recreational use. “And yet, that’s not what happens.” . . . In my defense, I stress that they all my ancestors immigrated way back during the 1840s and 1850s, that my grandfather on my father’s side fought the Germans during WWI, that my uncles on my mother’s side fought the Germans during WWII, and that if he had not been 4-F, my father would have fought the Germans during WWII. If DNA information had been available back when I worked for the federal government, I would have stressed that. (FROM MTRCC BY-LAWS: Section 5 Misbehavior and Censure — Upon petition of not less than five (5) Voting Members, the Chairman shall direct the Policy Committee to convene a special meeting to consider allegations of misbehavior of any Committeeman in the fulfillment of their office or as a member of the organization. The Policy Committee shall thereafter within thirty (30) days, meet with the concerned Committeeman in relation to the matters charged in the petition, conduct such investigation as it deems necessary and make a report of its findings and recommendations to the Chairman. Upon the finding that the alleged misbehavior has been prejudicial to the best interest of the Republican Party and upon recommendation of the Policy Committee and the Executive Committee, the Chairman shall issue a letter of censure to the concerned Committeeman; provided that no member shall be censured without concurrence of two-thirds of the membership present at any regular or special meeting preceded by fifteen (15) days written notice to all members of the action contemplated. Any member to who a letter of censure is issued shall be ineligible to participate as a voting member of any meeting or other activity authorized by these By-Laws for a period of one year unless earlier restored to good standing by announcement of the Chairman, or by two-third’s vote of the membership present at any meeting.
