The federal government is the biggest age discriminator in America. If you are a federal employee who is Republican, White, male, and/or non-veteran, the federal government wastes your career and gets rid of you if you do not make GS-13 (currently $96,403) by age 25, GS-14 (currently $113,920) by age 30, GS-15 (currently $134,000) by age 35, and Senior Executive Service (currently $164,200) by age 40. October 12 Evening Edition

CHICAGO TRIBUNE
— Trump looms large as Rep. Peter Roskam fights for his political life against Sean Casten – Patrick M. O’Connell, Mike Riopell (DIERSEN: This article includes a report on what Roskam said and on what others said concerning Roskam at the Milton Township Republican Central Committee’s (MTRCC) outstanding meeting Wednesday evening, October 10, 2018, at the Wheaton Bowl Banquet Hall. 15 candidates were at the meeting – 1 for a federal office: Peter Roskam; 5 for state offices: Peter Breen, Mike Connelly, Amy Grant, Jay Kinzler, and Seth Lewis; eight for county offices: Grant Eckhoff, Gwen Henry, Paul Hinds, Jeff MacKay, Kevin Wiley, Karen Wilson, Chris Zaruba, and Jim Zay; and 1 for a municipal office: Suzanne Fitch. State Representative Jeanne Ives announced that she is circulating petitions for Wheaton mayoral candidate Phil Suess. Other meeting attendees included Ron Almiron, Roger Bohn, Lori Carlson, Joe Caruso, Bob Cherry, Jeff Cooper, Lynn Crane, Flo Dangelo, Tim Elliott (DuPage County Board), Sal Falbo (Milton Township Trustee), Mike Formento, Hide Holan, Babette Holder, Marty Keller (MTRCC Vice Chairman), Bob Krzyzewski, Larry LaVanway, Alex LeVan, Chris LeVan (MTRCC Chairman and Milton Township Assessor), Carl Lofgren, Paula McGowen (DuPage County Regional School Board Member), Bobby McNeily, Ron Menna, Dave Molitor (Milton Township Trustee), John Monino (MTRCC Secretary and Milton Township Trustee), Gary Muehlfelt (Milton Township Highway Commissioner), Barb Murphy (DuPage County Republican Party Chairwoman), Yadav Nathwani (MTRCC Treasurer and Milton Township Trustee), Nicole Prater (Winfield Township Republican Central Committee Chairman), Mary Rash, Pat Ryan, Janet Shaw, B.J. Slinger, Chuck Smith, and Tim Whelan (DuPage County Forest Preserve Commissioner). I have been a MTRCC member since 1999, and since then, I have had the best MTRCC meeting and MTRCC fundraiser attendance record. In 2002, I got MTRCC to begin holding its monthly meetings at the Wheaton Bowl, and MTRCC has met there ever since. In 2000, under MTRCC Chairman Randy Hultgren, I published MTRCC’s first website and I served as MTRCC’s webmaster 2000-2004 and 2008-2010. Both Hultgren and Roskam endorsed me when I first ran for Precinct Committeeman in 2000. Since 2000, I have included reports on MTRCC meetings and fundraisers in GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails.)
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/politics/ct-met-peter-roskam-sean-casten-illinois-6th-20181011-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: As U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam rallied die-hard Republicans in a private room at the Wheaton Bowl’s banquet hall on Wednesday, Ed Raab was outside keeping watch over the check-in counter, the clatter of pins echoing across the lanes. “If I wasn’t working,” Raab said, “I’d be right in there with them.” Roskam shook a few hands, and chatted with campaign volunteers, local precinct committeemen and DuPage County candidates before he strode to the podium for a short speech. “I’m incredibly energized by this campaign,” Roskam said. “I’m incredibly heartened by all of your support. … Now is the time for us to press forward.” Behind him, next to stacks of yard signs, was a lifesize cardboard cutout of President Donald Trump flashing a thumbs-up. Someone had placed a red “Make America Great Again” cap atop the cardboard Trump’s head. . .To win, Roskam likely needs to strike a balance between keeping Trump supporters on board, but also preventing independent and centrist Republican voters from abandoning him even if they don’t like the president. “The people in this district, I don’t think they’d do that,” said Raab, who credited the biggest take-home pay he’s ever had in 42 years working at the bowling alley to the Republican tax overhaul Roskam championed. “I think they’re pretty true to the people they’re backing.” . . . “The reason the national Democratic Party believes that Congressman Roskam’s district is in play is solely based on President Trump,” said Kirk Dillard, a former DuPage County Republican chairman, state senator and Illinois governor candidate. Casten has tried to get into a position to capitalize, calling Trump the “worst president of our generation.” He raised twice as much money as Roskam last quarter, his $2.6 million buttressed by millions of dollars in advertising from a group backed by House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi. The latest spots hit Roskam over taxes and health care, saying it’s time he “checked out of Congress.” . . . “Peter wins close races because he is an exceptionally hard-working candidate, incredibly articulate speaker and has a volunteer base of dedicated individuals second to none,” Dillard said. Since that election 12 years ago, Democrats have made inroads in Roskam’s home base of DuPage County. President Barack Obama won the county twice, and the prosperous patchwork of suburbs recently has sent two Democratic state lawmakers to Springfield. Babette Holder, a Republican committeewoman in Wheaton, said the Trump factor matters “a lot” in this race. “I’ve never seen a midterm like this before,” Holder said. “I think it’ll be a big challenge this time.” But her hope is that when voters examine the issues, they’ll turn to Roskam, who she said breaks from the party and the president when necessary. “I am worried,” Holder said, “I’m not going to lie to you and say I’m not worried. It’ll come down to turnout.” . . . At the bowling alley on Wednesday, Raab said Roskam isn’t perfect, but he’s still preferable to the alternative. “He’s done some things I don’t agree with, but I like him a lot better than his opponent,” Raab said.)

http://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/daily-southtown/opinion/ct-sta-slowik-highest-paid-superintendent-st-1011-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: A system that rewards public servants with excessive compensation should rile south suburban homeowners struggling to pay high property taxes and other bills. Paraday’s base salary this year is $309,306, but that’s only part of the story. The cost of health insurance, an annuity, pension contributions, a car allowance and other expenses drove Paraday’s total compensation for the year to $407,145 — making him the highest-paid superintendent in Illinois. Paraday oversees 1,130 students in three schools, which were delayed from opening in August due to mold in the junior high. Yet, Paraday makes more than the CEO of Chicago Public Schools, who oversees 371,382 students in 644 schools. Open the Books, a Burr Ridge-based watchdog group, discovered that on top of his other compensation, Paraday is set to receive a “golden handshake” of $762,615 for unused paid days off. “Unused, earned sick leave, unused vacation days and unused personal business days shall be allowed to (accumulate), without limit,” Paraday’s contract states. “The superintendent, at his discretion, may submit for payment, at the current per diem, any unused sick, personal or vacation day(s).” Paraday, 56, who has been superintendent since 2005, accumulated 567 days at a rate of $1,345 per day, Open the Books said, based on information it obtained from the district through the Freedom of Information Act. “The bloated Illinois education bureaucracy rewards those who know how to play the pay-and-pension lottery,” Adam Andrzejewski, Open the Books founder and CEO said in a statement. “It’s time the dollars start following the children rather than the bureaucracy.”)

CHICAGO TRIBUNE
— In debate with J.B. Pritzker, Gov. Bruce Rauner says illegal immigration contributes to Chicago gun violence – Rick Pearson, Mike Riopell (DIERSEN: Those who want Rauner to lose want Rauner to talk like Pritzker does about illegal immigration. Pritzker says illegals “are good for the economy of the state of Illinois” and “that what we need to do is protect the immigrants that are here in our state. We have immigrants here who are not protected, under attack by President Trump. He (Rauner) stands with President Trump on this. I do not.”)
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/politics/ct-met-illinois-governors-race-debate-rauner-pritzker-20181009-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Gov. Bruce Rauner and challenger J.B. Pritzker clashed over immigration and Chicago violence Tuesday, with the Republican chief executive alleging that immigrants living illegally in the state are a factor in the city’s crime problem while the Democrat said they contribute to Illinois’ economy. . .Rauner, who has been trailing Pritzker by double digits in independently conducted polls, indicated the need to continue to heal a core GOP constituency, social conservatives, with his latest remarks on immigration. Social conservatives have been upset with Rauner’s signing of laws that expanded immigration, abortion and transgender rights. Rauner sought to make clear that he signed legislation preventing law enforcement from stopping someone solely on his or her immigration status only because it was backed by law enforcement. “Illegal immigration takes jobs away from Americans. It holds down wages, hurts union workers, farmworkers, factory workers, hurts wages and raises unemployment,” Rauner said. “One of the reasons we have such high unemployment in the city of Chicago and so much crime is the massive number of illegal immigrants here take jobs away from American citizens and Chicago citizens,” he contended, adding that Pritzker wants to make Illinois a “sanctuary state.”)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam is set to get a fundraising boost from a Southern congressman who defeated him in a bid to move up House Republican leadership. U.S. Rep. Steve Scalise of Louisiana will be in Naperville on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at a reception for Roskam, according to the invitation. A ticket goes for $50, and a “private roundtable” goes for $1,000. Four years ago, Scalise bested Roskam in the race for House majority whip, a post that opened up in the leadership shuffle following Eric Cantor’s primary loss to Dave Brat in Virginia. At the time, Roskam was the No. 4 Republican in the House, but his unsuccessful attempt to move up left him out of GOP leadership. Last year, Scalise was shot by a Belleville, Ill., man during practice for the annual congressional baseball game. He has since made his return to Congress, where he still serves as whip under House Speaker Paul Ryan. Roskam, of Wheaton, is locked in a tough re-election battle with Democratic businessman Sean Casten of Downers Grove, who raised $2.6 million in the third quarter, according to his campaign. Roskam’s campaign said he raised about $1.3 million.)

— Rauner’s campaign gave Erika Harold’s bid for attorney general another $500,000 last week, state campaign finance reports showed. Rauner’s campaign gave her $1 million in August and previously paid for $305,000 worth of ads in the March GOP primary. She is facing Democratic state Sen. Kwame Raoul to replace retiring Attorney General Lisa Madigan.

— ‘Sanctuary cities’ don’t care if restaurants exploit undocumented workers – Neil Gaffney, Lake View (DIERSEN: Have you ever been a restaurant worker? I washed dishes part-time for the minimum wage in the basement of the S.S. Kresges in Chicago Heights 1964-1966. That job enabled me to buy a new 1966 Pontiac Tempest Sprint in May of 1966. If there had been as many illegals around back then as there are now, I doubt that I would have been offered that job. I cleaned golf shoes, chipped slag, and pumped gasoline during the summer of 1966. I saved the money that I earned for UIC college expenses. If there had been as many illegals around back then as there are now, I doubt that I would have been offered those jobs.)
https://chicago.suntimes.com/opinion/undocumented-immigrants-restaurant-industry-labor-rights-letters/
(FROM THE LETTER: As I read the article “Chinatown job agencies, Asian restaurants ‘exploit’ Latinos, say workers, suit” (Oct. 7), two questions came to mind regarding Chicago and other sanctuary cities like San Francisco. On the one hand, is sanctuary first and foremost a program designed to allow the undocumented to build a life with dignity? Or, on the other hand, is it a program more designed to allow employers access to cheap unskilled labor with no labor rights, no job protections, zero benefits, and no right to complain since you risk being reported to Immigration and Customs Enforcement? I think the latter, actually. Why hire a low-skilled American citizen who will come with a multitude of labor rights and job protections, when you can hire an undocumented low-skilled worker really cheap, without any of that baggage? An employer’s dream, and the sanctuary cities are fine with it. Some sanctuary.)

— Schoolchildren are just the pawns in politicians’ never-ending property tax game – Phil Kadner (DIERSEN: How much have you paid in property taxes? How much of a burden have you and your children been on public schools that depend on property taxes? I paid property taxes a) on my new town home in University Park 1972-1984, b) on my studio condo in downtown Chicago 1974-1976, and c) on my one bedroom condo in downtown Chicago 1974-1976. My wife and I paid property taxes on 1017 East Harrison in Wheaton 1978-1984. My wife and I have paid property taxes on 915 Cove Court in Wheaton since 1984. My wife and I have never sent any children to any public school. My wife has never attended a school. I attended Crete-Monee High School 1962-1966. What do you say to my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes who want my wife and I to pay more property taxes, more income taxes, and more other taxes? They stress that I avoided the draft and my wife and I gave up trying to have children, we did not adopt, and we did not become foster parents. They hint/imply/argue/shout that the federal government grossly overpaid me and that my federal retirement benefits are much too generous.)

The House Republican Organization, the campaign funding arm of House GOP lawmakers and candidates, gave the state GOP $500,000. The HRO has also received significant funding from Rauner. In addition, the Republican State Senate Campaign Committee gave the party $200,000, while Rauner’s hand-picked state Republican chairman, Cook County Commissioner Tim Schneider, added another $80,000. Barrett Davie, a Republican state Senate candidate from Lake Forest who is challenging Democratic state Sen. Julie Morrison of Deerfield, also gave the state GOP $70,000. Davie also has been the beneficiary of more than $300,000 from conservative Republican mega-donor Richard Uihlein of Lake Forest.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Among women voters polled, Casten is up 15 points — 54 percent to 39 percent. For men voters polled, Roskam is up by 7 points — 50 percent to 43 percent, according to the poll. Casten is also performing better with voters age 18 to 39 — polling 58 percent to Roskam’s 25 percent. The race between Roskam, who has held the seat since 2007, and Casten, a political newcomer and a former energy company executive, is under a microscope nationally as Democrats try to regain control of the chamber. Roskam’s campaign said they’re aware the race is close but expressed optimism in the incumbent’s chances. The campaign on Sunday also sought to link Casten to Illinois House Speaker Mike Madigan, echoing TV ads which say “both would make us pay a lot more” in taxes. “We are confident voters will stick with Peter Roskam, who has been an effective leader for Illinois and is rated as one of the most bipartisan members of Congress,” spokeswoman Veronica Vera said.)

— WHY YOU NEED NEW CONSERVATIVE SOCIAL MEDIA & SEARCH Stop being censored by Facebook, Google and Twitter
https://www.wnd.com/2018/10/why-you-need-new-conservative-social-media-search/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Have you been a victim of censorship? If you are a conservative, it is almost certain Facebook, Google, Twitter or another high tech company put some type of restriction on the information you need. Your posts may be blocked or shadowbanned. Perhaps, important news is hidden from you. It is a matter of freedom or tyranny. Many people are asking, what is the solution? USA.Life social network and 1776Free.com search engine are the answer to Facebook, Google and Twitter censoring Christians, conservatives and liberty. These new sites are being built by Steven Andrew, a Silicon Valley technology and Christian leader. He set up a crowdfunding page to launch the sites and people are chipping in to save our freedoms. Already, they have exceeded $200,000. When Andrew saw Facebook block tens of millions of his posts from followers, he decided to use his Internet business and leadership skills to make these pro-America alternatives. How can these new sites save the Internet for you and your loved ones? Here are three important reasons why you need USA.Life and 1776Free.com. 1. Freely Share Life, Liberty and Happiness Andrew found big tech blocks pro-American values. Your God-given rights are being restricted. Important things like God, family values, securing the borders for your safety, gun rights, life, the Constitution and traditional marriage are being attacked by these big tech companies. A report found Google gave 96% liberal news against President Trump. This affects elections. USA.Life and 1776Free.com use a Pro-America Algorithm (TM), so you can always share and find life, liberty and happiness. You can freely talk about American values, without being restricted. This makes you and your loved ones safe, strong and blessed. 2. Privacy News reports reveal Facebook, Google and others track almost all private details of your life. This spying is unAmerican. However, USA.Life and 1776Free.com give you privacy. Only a minimal amount of information is used. If you delete something, it is deleted. There is no selling of your personal data to third parties. 3. Real News Liberal big tech companies updated their algorithms, so conservatives get less traffic, according to reports. They promote fake news outlets, which is a danger to national security. USA.Life and 1776Free.com are different. They give you real news, so you know the truth about what is going on. You and your family gain real knowledge. Learn More Without USA.Life and 1776Free.com, your freedom and privacy could be lost forever. However, the Internet can be saved if 58,000 people give $10, or if 5,800 supporters give $100. New members are joining every day by signing up for a free account. Joining now gives users access to preferred usernames and project updates. Don’t be trapped with anti-American Facebook, Google and Twitter, sign up today. With these new sites, you help save the USA.)

— Think Again If You Plan To Work Longer – Teresa Ghilarducci (DIERSEN: How long do you plan to work? I planned to work at least until I would be eligible for regular retirement when I was 55 in 2003. But my Democrat superiors in the federal government succeeded in forcing me to take their early retirement offer when I was 49 in 1997. Consequently, my pension is only $51,864, or only 41% of what my $125,325 salary was in today’s dollars.)
https://www.forbes.com/sites/teresaghilarducci/2018/10/08/think-again-if-you-plan-to-work-past-65/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: When 52% of older workers are pushed out of their jobs, working longer is not their choice. The stark truth is that a significant share of older workers — age 55-64 — are not anywhere near being on track to afford retirement. The median retirement account balance for older workers is only $15,000. Even the highest income workers — those earning over $200,000 per year who are in the top ten percent of the income distribution — do not have enough money to retire and maintain their standard of living. Their median account balance is under a year’s salary at $200,000 and 15% of the highest earners have no retirement plan except Social Security. For nearly 20 years, the advice to older people is to make to make up for inadequate retirement wealth by working longer. Yet, from 2008 to 2014, at least 52% of retirees over 55 left their last job involuntarily as a result of direct job loss (they were laid off or their business closed or changed ownership); they felt they were pushed out so they quit; or their health deteriorated; or they had to leave work to take care of a sick family member.)

In its February 1978 issue, Money Magazine published a 4-page article on me in which it painted my education deductions as being improper. In the article, Money Magazine hinted/implied/argued/shouted that the graduate business and accounting courses I deducted were not job-related, did not help me carry out my job duties, were taken by me to get a job in the private sector, and were a distraction. My Democrat IRS superiors were more than happy to use Money Magazine’s article to disallow my education deductions and to end my IRS career. Money Magazine and IRS would not have done the aforesaid if I had been a Democrat, a minority, a female, or a veteran. Further, the writer of the article disapproved of my demographics, including my religion and my national origin.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Partisans on both sides of the issue have made much of the hearings. Those for Kavanaugh’s nomination believe he was railroaded by the left and therefore is entitled to defend himself, even losing his temper. Those against Kavanaugh position him as an arrogant and entitled person of privilege who shows himself without the temperament to be a justice. Anyone wrongly accused has a right to defend himself – loudly and vociferously. But when that person periodically loses his cool and resorts to partisan conspiracy theories, then people become suspicious. In fact, more than 2400 law professors signed a letter attesting to Kavanaugh’s intemperance and unsuitability for the high court. Comportment is essential to leadership. Until recently, our society has always valued politicians who kept their cool, in fact, those who did not were often voted from office, or mocked.)

My Democrat GAO superiors, supervisors, and coworkers did everything that could to destroy me. They stressed that GAO had forced me to take a $19,203 (26%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer. They stressed that my Democrat IRS superiors did not promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, got rid of my mentor in 1975, and disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974. They stressed that my Democrat Post Office superiors had forced me resign in 1969 and disallowed my sick leave requests in 1969 and 1968. They demonized, denigrated, and condemned as being completely worthless a) the experience that I had gained working for IRS for almost 9 years, the last 5 1/2 years of which at the GS-12 Step 1-5 levels, currently $81,071-$91,880, b) what I had learned earning a master’s degree in accounting from DePaul, c) what I had learned passing the CPA examination on my first attempt in 1979, d) what I had learned earning an MBA from Loyola in 1976, e) etc. They stressed that I was a Republican, that I was conservative, that I was 100% German national origin, that my ancestors had been in America since 1844, that I had been baptized, raised, and confirmed as a Missouri Synod Lutheran, that I had avoided the draft, that I had owned a 1972 Corvette since 1971, and that my wife owned a home in Wheaton. They hinted/implied/argued/shouted that if I had started with GAO instead of IRS in 1971, GAO would never have promoted me in 1972, 1973, or 1974. They hinted/implied/argued/shouted that all executive branch employees are grossly inferior to all legislative branch employees. WEALTHY RETIREMENT
— Age Discrimination Is Alive and Well – Steve McDonald (DIERSEN: How old are you? I am 70. All my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have always promoted age discrimination a) to get rid of those who are older than they are and/or b) to curry favor with those who promote age discrimination.)
https://wealthyretirement.com/slap-in-the-face/equal-employment-opportunity-commission-age-discrimination/

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Here’s one for all of us who have been forced out of a job or were forced into early retirement because of our ages. In 1974, my uncle Stephen was forced to retire at the age of 64. He was a 40-year veteran of a big-time hotel business, and his work was his life. But his employer had a rule that you had to leave at age 64. No discussion! Unfair? Yeah, just a little. It gets worse… Age discrimination has been illegal in this country since 1967. But you’d be hard-pressed to convince any boomers of that fact, especially if they, a friend or a relative lose their job after the age of 50. The fact is, age discrimination is alive and well in the U.S., and it is the only kind of discrimination that is accepted and ignored by everyone. Race and sex discrimination have been on the front burner since I was kid. Despite the fact that boomers are retiring in droves (10,000 per day) and many have to work to make it in retirement, holding or finding a job after the age of 50 is next to impossible. Off the top of my head, I can think of two friends who lost their jobs after age 50. One is an attorney. It took him almost two years to find another job. The other, a 35-year veteran of the mutual fund business, couldn’t find another position and had to retire early. Every thinking person knows it was their age that was the barrier. Now, because the Gen Xers are right behind us, the numbers are just getting too big to ignore any longer. But the cavalry may finally be on the horizon. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) just closed an age discrimination case against a restaurant chain, which cost the chain $12 million. The acting chair of the EEOC, Victoria Lipnic, stated in a recent article that age is now an enforcement priority for her commission. This shift in enforcement is too late for the three out of five of us who have been the victims of age discrimination or have seen it in action, but it’s something of a moral victory. Years of research have shown that age is not a predictor of performance. In fact, it has been repeatedly demonstrated that the workplace wisdom older workers bring with them actually makes them more effective and efficient. Fifty years of ignoring this travesty appears to be coming to an end. This has to stop. Not just because it’s wrong, but also because too many boomers have to work well into their golden years and there aren’t enough Walmarts to employ all of us as greeters.)

(FROM THE PROMOTION: Statewide Candidates Including JB Pritzker and Kwame Raoul and Democratic Candidates in DuPage County to Attend News Highlights Entertainment by Award Winning Musicians, Orbert Davis of the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic, Jazz Vocalist of the Year Tammy McCann, and Ralph Covert of The Bad Examples and Ralph’s World. Family-friendly activities which include a mock voting event for children, with voting booths, ballots and stickers; seasonal activities for children, including: face painting, pumpkin painting and balloon artists and photo booth. Help Lynn Win, the organization supporting DuPage County Board Chairman Candidate, Lynn LaPlante, is hosting a free “Get Out The Vote Concert” on Saturday, October 6 at the DuPage County Fairgrounds at 2015 Manchester Rd, Wheaton, IL from 3PM to 7PM. For the very first time, constituents in DuPage County will have a chance to hear from the largest gathering of Democratic candidates in the state. Ms. LaPlante commented, “This is a watershed event in an historically red DuPage County. We have never had a full Democratic ballot for voters to choose from before. Currently, there is one Democrat out of nineteen County Board Members. A Democrat or a woman has never held the office of Chairman in the history of DuPage County—179 years! It is time to change that. For the first time in its history, voters will be able to hear from and meet a full ballot of inspiring Democratic candidates, from the judges at bottom of the ballot to gubernatorial candidates at the top. Many of the candidates attending the event, including JB Pritzker, are first time candidates like me, following President Obama’s wise words that ‘change only happens when ordinary people get involved.”)
