— Jacobson sues
https://capitolfax.com/2020/06/01/jacobson-sues/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: I don’t think the governor himself handled this very well and I said so at the time. To this day, Jacobson has access to the governor through the pool reporters, like I do, like we all do. Pritzker should’ve made that clear in public. Now her attorneys are trying to cast her as some sort of martyr. I’ve been to press conferences where I couldn’t get my questions answered. I may have already told you this story, but Gov. Blagojevich tried that with me once, so I walked around the room and whispered questions to every Chicago TV reporter there. He had no choice but to answer questions from them. . .Um, she can’t get “back into the room” because access is being limited for everyone right now due to COVID-19. And while Pritzker most certainly disagrees with her points of view, she did speak at a rally in opposition to his stay at home order. That goes well beyond attendance. On the one hand, she’s a show-boating hyper-partisan. On the other, I’ve always been opposed to the government deciding who is and who is not a reporter, although it is indisputable that legislative leaders can limit access to their press boxes based on broad criteria (like working for a lobbying group). On the third hand, if reporters were really upset about this, they would’ve stood up for Jacobson and her access would’ve been restored by now.)

https://www.wheaton.il.us/civicalerts.aspx?AID=410
(FROM THE UPDATE: Many of the communities surrounding Wheaton experienced a high volume of criminal activity at shopping malls, government buildings, and business districts last evening. This disruption also caused public transportation such as CTA and Metra to temporarily suspend services in some areas. While Wheaton’s businesses were not directly affected last evening, the Wheaton Police Department encourages its residents and community members to stay safe by following these safety tips. Expect delayed openings of some area businesses. Check or follow a business’s social media or website for changes to hours of operation. When commuting, travelling, or planning a shopping trip to other neighboring communities check local news to ensure it is safe to do so and the business is open. If you witness criminal or suspicious activity, say something. Get to a safe location and call 9-1-1 for police response. The Wheaton Police Department will continue to maintain an increased presence throughout our community in the coming days and encourages its residents and community members to stay up-to-date by following the City of Wheaton on Facebook, Twitter (@CityOfWheaton), and email updates.)

— Age Is More Than A Number: Trends In Workforce Composition, Ageism, And Efforts To Address The Elephant In The Room – Fisher Phillips (DIERSEN: I should write a book about age discrimination. How soon, if not already, will employers and organizations officially adopt “up-or-out” policies for their employees and members who are Republican, White, male, and/or non-veteran? For example, will the Illinois Republican Party (IRP) officially adopt the following policy those who are White, male, and/or non-veteran: township/ward party organization officers must be under age 30, county party organization officers must be under age 35, IRP State Central Committee members must be under age 40, and IRP officers must be under age 50?)
https://www.jdsupra.com/legalnews/age-is-more-than-a-number-trends-in-89175/

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Various factors have created a workplace phenomenon that is both underreported and underestimated: an aging workforce and increasing incidence of age discrimination. As people in this country are living longer, the cost of living continues to rise, and the pension model nears extinction, many older Americans continue to work well into their 70’s. Combine that with stereotypes borne of both bygone eras and the current tech-forward attitudes of the younger workforce, and the incidence of age-based discrimination in the workplace is increasing – though the problem is not typically viewed or treated as seriously as other forms of discrimination. Despite laws in place to protect older workers, many hurdles exist in identifying and addressing the issue.)

https://townhall.com/columnists/kelliward/2020/05/03/conservative-states-should-not-be-forced-to-bailout-broke-democratic-states-n2568079
(FROM THE ARTICLE: That is why it is so infuriating to read that the President of the Illinois State Senate, a Democrat named Don Harmon, is asking for $41 billion in aid from the federal government. It is not just the amount of the requested bailout that is maddening; it is where they want to put the money. They’ve planned to use $10 billion of the potential $41 billion to bailout the Illinois state pension fund—a purpose wholly unrelated to the coronavirus pandemic. Let me be very clear: Illinois’ shortfalls in its pension fund are not the result of the coronavirus. Instead, as Republicans in the state rightly pointed out upon hearing of Harmon’s request, the pension systems’ disastrous shortfalls have been a problem decades in the making due to years of Democratic control.)
