(FROM THE ARTICLE: Take west suburban Naperville, where the parade to be held Monday morning is officially billed as the “Last Fling,” as though the day’s purpose is to have one last celebration before summer comes to an end. The day is officially being sponsored in that community by a Kia auto dealership and is honoring the local park district as its grand marshal, although among its participants will be Gov. Bruce Rauner – not exactly the kind of politico with any interest in building up a favorable impression among organized labor interests. The atmosphere in Naperville is likely to be different than what will take place in Calumet City – which usually has an end-of-summer parade that gives a bit of tribute to organized labor. IT’S NOT THE kind of place that Rauner would choose to be in – likely because he knows the locals would boo and heckle him mercilessly if he were to show his face. Which is probably why Lt. Gov. Evelyn Sanguinetti will be the official state participant in that parade – I suspect her presence will be undetected because most of the locals won’t have a clue who she is or what she looks like!)

Another 1,692 seniors living in the Cook County suburbs also received tax bills showing they owed no taxes on their homes this year, the Sun-Times found. (FROM THE ARTICLE: As World Magazine editor Marvin Olasky points out in the publication’s Sept. 3 issue, “Millions of Americans are here because their ancestors signed ‘declarations of intention’ similar to what Trump is suggesting.”  Olasky found the declaration of intention Albert Einstein signed in 1936. He became a U.S. citizen four years later. Here is what it said: “I will, before being admitted to citizenship, renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty. … I am not an anarchist; I am not a polygamist nor a believer in the practice of polygamy.” Olasky writes that his immigrant grandfather signed a similar declaration in 1914. A century ago, he says, “anarchist” was the equivalent of today’s terrorist. Some anarchists planted bombs, one assassinated President William McKinley. Olasky continues: “Since Sharia law allows and even proposes polygamy as an act of justice, U.S. law excluded Muslims who embraced it. There were to be no divided loyalties.” In order for Utah to enter the Union, the state had to renounce polygamy, a doctrine believed and practiced at that time by some Mormons. President Obama is admitting people into America who believe in Sharia law, and the polygamy it allows. “No divided loyalties” was the key phrase in Olasky’s last sentence. How long ago and far away that seems today when our loyalties are more divided than at any time since the Civil War. Diversity has replaced unity and hyphenated identifiers now divide races and ethnic groups. “Out of many, one” is fading as our national motto. Out of one, many, is rapidly becoming our new one. Much of mainstream media fuel the division because conflict sells. They promote our flaws instead of the phrase from “America the Beautiful,” one of our great patriotic hymns, “God mend thine every flaw.” Instead, too many seem intent on exposing, even promoting, new flaws and dividing us further. Who will love America if we don’t? Who will sacrifice their lives for freedom if not us? We had better realize America is something special, or risk losing it.)

After four years in the works, the phased retirement program is up and running, in some places. So far, fewer than 100 feds have applied for the part-time mentoring program. Many workers say it’s not from lack of interest, but that their agencies aren’t offering it. Something else, what was it? Oh yes, the American public still hates you. There are some federal agencies paying employees outside the more traditional General Schedule (GS) pay system and the average salary differences are striking. So are the CEOs’ pay. – Matt Krantz  (DIERSEN: Who hints/implies/argues/shouts that you are/were overpaid?  To discredit me, to promote envy against me, and to promote hatred against me, virtually all my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes hint/imply/argue/shout a) that the Post Office overpaid me 1966-1969, b) that IRS overpaid me 1971-1980, c) that GAO overpaid me 1980-1997, d) that my Civil Service Retirement System pension since 1997 has been too generous, d) and that my federal health, dental, and vision insurance subsidies and other federal benefits have always been too generous.  It would be great if my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes a) would get together and put their charges against me in writing, b) give me sufficient time to prepare my rebuttal, and c) agree to publicly debate me in the Wheaton Bowl Banquet Hall or in one of their larger “safe place” type venues.  Should I ask my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes to put in writing a) their top ten reasons why they are/were not a federal employee or federal retiree, b) the sources and amounts of all their income for the last ten years, c) their assets, liabilities, and net worth, and d) the top ten reasons why they do not have more income and a higher net worth than they have now?)

CEOs of the 14 biotech and pharmaceutical companies in the Standard & Poor’s 500 that served all of 2015 pulled down median compensation packages valued at $18.5 million in 2015, according to a USA TODAY analysis of data from S&P Global Market Intelligence. That was 71% greater than the median $10.8 million hauled in by S&P 500 executives in all industries in 2015, according to an analysis by Equilar. “We all know drug prices are high,” says Eleanor Bloxham, CEO of compensation analysis firm The Value Alliance. “Companies award (the CEOs) very generous packages.” Health care CEOs received the highest median pay packages of any of the 10 sectors, according to the Equilar analysis.)
