Time and again, Big Tech uses its power to suppress and marginalize conservative voices.” Google was caught blacklisting some of the top conservative media sites in July, noticeably shortly before the election. These are the top conservative sites in the country, including Townhall, Breitbart, The Daily Wire and Judicial Watch. . .Jordan and Rep. The report lists many incidents of censorship of prominent, regular conservatives, including President Trump. On the other hand, conduct threatening violence on the extreme left is often given a free pass. Tweets by the Ayatollah Khamenei are allowed stating that Iran will reciprocate against the U.S. for the death of Hajj Qasem Soleimani and that Israel will be uprooted and destroyed. . .Many conservatives will still blow this off, saying it’s not censorship because private companies are involved, and we just need to come up with our own competing alternatives. This may be true, but it’s not solving the problem. No platforms fair to conservatives have come anywhere near the competitiveness of the top Big Tech companies. Parler, which President Trump recommended as a social media alternative, has only 2.8 million users. Whereas Facebook has over 2.7 billion users, Instagram has 1 billion and Twitter has 48.35 million. So conservatives are being increasingly shut out of the modern-day version of the public square. . .Something has to change. The left already controls so much of society — education, most of the legal system, traditional media, Hollywood — that the addition of Big Tech will ensure that conservatives never win another election again. (FROM THE ARTICLE: Serving in an attractive profession that offers great earning potential and a reliable array of career choices, accountants are historically sought after particularly during tough economies or similar times of crises. Despite such demand, the numbers within the profession remain unbalanced. Yes, women have come to represent more than 50 percent of accounting graduates over the last 20 years, and over the past 10, the percentages of accounting undergraduates and graduates who are minorities have also increased. In fact, aTrends report shows that 42 percent of accounting graduates are African-American, Hispanic, American Indian, Asian or Pacific Islander, multiethnic, or other. However, total minority hiring in the world of American CPAs has remained inexcusably low, and that must change so as to better serve both the workforce and its customers. The U.S. Census of 2010 predicted that minorities will be the majority by 2042 — that’s about two decades away from now — and communities and clients are shifting in their demographic makeup to reflect that. Moreover, the combined purchasing power of African-Americans, Hispanics, and Asians was at $4 trillion in 2018 according to the Selig Center for Economic Growth, and demographers predict that the growth of minority populations will contribute between 44-70 percent to the total growth of U.S. purchasing power from 2000 to 2045. Still, this isn’t groundbreaking news, and diversity initiatives have been nudging accounting departments and firms for years to sit up and notice that the United States is more of a melting pot than ever before. But the need for CPA firms to bolster diversity and inclusion — and to provide not just a seat at the table, but also a voice — has never been as critical or urgent as it is today. Because despite America being increasingly diverse, minority workers are still likelier than whites to be unemployed or declined a promotion or senior position. In 2016, Pew Research published that 40 percent of both men and women were more likely to hire men over women; in 2018, almost 90 percent of corporate executives were white and roughly 73 percent were male, and just three Fortune 500 companies in the country were headed by an African-American as CEO. Not much has changed since then, so it seems that while the world around the accounting profession is rapidly changing, the world within it is not.)

The past few months have been an unfolding drama of lawlessness in the streets, anti-American curricula planned for the schools, and overt attacks on foundational beliefs that most Americans hold dear. The upheaval has been swift and destructive, leading many to wonder how anyone either in or seeking an elected leadership position would not speak out forcefully against the carnage. Some Democrat leaders of the affected cities have either actively called on the police to stand down, or they have decided not to publicly condemn the burning, looting, and murdering in their cities. Many Republicans, on the other hand, have called for a return to law and order, expressing concern not only for residents and business owners but also for the first responders who are risking their lives trying to help injured people and protect property. Are these dichotomous responses indicative of the philosophies of these leaders’ political parties, or are they simply personal views that have nothing to do with party affiliation? A comparison of the Republican and Democrat party platforms can provide much-needed information about the worldviews and intentions of current leaders and those who might be elected on November 3. What is a party platform? Political party platforms are official declarations of the principles, policy stances, and action items of the parties. Every four years, political parties gather for their national conventions where they nominate their presidential and vice-presidential candidates. They also write their platforms, the documents that outline where they stand on specific issues and what they intend to do on those issues if their candidates are elected. The differences in 2020 are stark. Republican – Democrat  If one were to judge the 2020 Republican and Democrat platforms simply by tone, even a cursory review of both would yield important insights into each party’s opinions of the country and its issues. The Democrat Party platform outlines what many might consider to be extremist views of this country – that it is irredeemably racist, that people who were instrumental in the founding and early leadership of the country are unworthy of respect or remembrance, and that the government should take over huge areas of its citizens’ lives. Law enforcement must be overhauled, and white supremacy and nationalism are ingrained sins that must be overcome. The Republican Party platform, on the other hand, begins with a dedication page to those who protect the country and its citizens: We dedicate this platform with admiration and gratitude to all who stand strong in the face of danger so that the American people may be protected against it – The men and women of our military, of our law enforcement, and the first responders of every community in our land – And to their families.)
