DAILY HERALD
— Here’s what individual teachers would get under Geneva school board’s offer – Susan Sarkauskas (DIERSEN: Federal employees do not get pay increases for earning job-related degrees, job-related professional certifications, or job-related professional licenses. I worked for the federal government 1966-1969 and 1971-1997. I earned a) a job-related bachelor’s degree when I was 21 in 1970 and job-related master’s degrees when I was 27, 31, and 48, b) job-related professional certifications when I was 30, 32, 41, 45, 47, and 48, and c) a job-related professional license when I was 32.)
https://www.dailyherald.com/news/20181206/heres-what-individual-teachers-would-get-under-geneva-school-boards-offer

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The report lists certified personnel from A to Z. It shows their current salaries, years with the district (“step”) and graduate-level education (“lane”). It also shows what they would be paid as their experience increases over the four years of the proposed contract. For some, it also includes a pay increase because of additional graduate education. According to the district’s calculations, individual teachers’ pay would increase, in four years, by as little as 6.56 percent to up to 44.71 percent for one individual. Actual dollar increases per person range from $4,044 over those four years to $28,796. The first figure is for a teacher who is on step 17 and does not have any graduate credits. The latter is for a teacher who is on step 16 with a master’s degree but who has now attained either a doctorate or a second master’s degree.)

FORBES
— For IBM, Reskilling The Workforce For AI Takes On A New Urgency – Joe McKendrick (DIERSEN: Have you ever reskilled yourself? I have. In 1992, when I was 43 years old, after my Democrat GAO superiors had made it clear that they would never again assign me to audits of IRS, after they had assigned me to audits of federal financial institution regulators, I began taking graduate courses at IIT, and in 1997, when I was 48 years old, I earned a master’s degree in financial markets and trading from IIT.)

— Why Employers Should Support The Expansion Of Social Security – Nancy Altman (DIERSEN: All my critics/opponents, all their operatives, and all their dupes promote age discrimination a) because they want to get rid of those who are older than they are and/or b) because they want to curry favor with those who promote age discrimination.)
https://www.forbes.com/sites/nancyaltman/2018/12/06/why-employers-should-support-the-expansion-of-social-security/#6e693f784be5
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The nation is facing a looming retirement income crisis where workers will be unable to retire and maintain their standards of living. Age discrimination laws properly prohibit employers from firing older workers simply because of their age. An expanded Social Security will provide those older workers with greater opportunity to enjoy some leisure after a lifetime of work. It will also lower employer costs, since older workers are often the most expensive, and allow younger workers to move forward in their careers. Moreover, retirees are consumers. As they age, they tend to stop saving and start spending what savings they were able to accumulate during their working years. The goods and services they purchase are essential for a strong economy. A report published a half-decade ago found that Social Security’s combined payments in 2012 resulted in the production of approximately $1.4 trillion in economic output, the creation of over 9.2 million jobs, and an increase in the tax revenues of local, state, and federal governments that exceeded $222 billion. And that was a half-decade ago. Those positive effects are substantially larger today. And an expanded Social Security would produce even greater returns.)

DAILY HERALD
— #MeToo’s unintended consequences – Kathleen Parker (DIERSEN: Government is nasty. Politics is nasty. While I worked for the Democrats who ran GAO’s Chicago office 1980-1997, they assigned me to supervise virtually every woman that they hired after 1980. Of course, they wanted those women to charge me with sexual harassment and even worse things.)
https://www.dailyherald.com/discuss/20181206/metoos-unintended-consequences
(FROM THE ARTICLE: A recent Bloomberg News headline came as no surprise: “Wall Street Rule for the #MeToo Era: Avoid Women at All Cost.” In a word, it was inevitable. Some men are so concerned about the possible repercussions of what they might say or do that they’re steering clear of women in the workplace altogether. And as a result, according to Bloomberg, Wall Street “risks becoming more of a boy’s club, rather than less of one.”)

When President Trump arrived, he strode past and then sat down in the same pew as former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who opposed him in a presidential campaign in which Mr. Trump led supporters in chanting, “Lock her up.” Mrs. Clinton sat stony-faced, staring straight ahead. . .Yet for all the talk of unity, there were no Democratic speakers at Wednesday’s service, and no handshakes between Mr. Trump and Bill and Mrs. Clinton.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: With a brutal finality, the extent of the Republicans’ collapse in the House came into focus last week as more races slipped away from them and their losses neared 40 seats. Yet nearly a month after the election, there has been little self-examination among Republicans about why a midterm that had seemed at least competitive became a rout. President Trump has brushed aside questions about the loss of the chamber entirely, ridiculing losing incumbents by name, while continuing to demand Congress fund a border wall despite his party losing many of their most diverse districts. Unlike their Democratic counterparts, Republicans swiftly elevated their existing slate of leaders with little debate, signaling a continuation of their existing political strategy. And neither Speaker Paul D. Ryan nor Representative Kevin McCarthy, the incoming minority leader, have stepped forward to confront why the party’s once-loyal base of suburban supporters abandoned it — and what can be done to win them back.)

— Wheaton College students claim black pro-lifer’s talk made people of color feel ‘unsafe’ – Dorothy Cummings McLean
https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/christian-college-students-claim-black-pro-lifers-talk-made-people-of-color
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Three student officials at a Christian college have alleged that an African-American speaker made other people of color feel “unheard, underrepresented, and unsafe” with his pro-life talk. Ryan Bomberger of the Radiance Foundation gave a presentation entitled “Black Lives Matter In and Out of the Womb” at the evangelical Wheaton College on November 14. He was the guest of the Wheaton College Republicans. Bomberger’s talk touched on the “hypocrisy” of the BLM leadership in announcing its solidarity with Planned Parenthood, the “leading killer of black lives.” In response to Bomberger’s interactive talk, Lauren Rowley, Wheaton’s student body president, Tyler Waaler, the student body vice-president, and Sammy Shields, the “EVP” of the college’s Community Diversity, signed an email directed to the entire college claiming that Bomberger’s talk distressed “many” people of color. “As many of you know, a special interest club hosted an event on Wednesday night titled, ‘Black Lives Matter: In and Outside the Womb.’ The speaker of this event, Ryan Bomberger, made several comments at the event that deeply troubled members of our community. His comments, surrounding the topic of race, made many students, staff, and faculty of color feel unheard, underrepresented, and unsafe on our campus,” they wrote. Without supplying any examples, Rowley, Waaler, and Shields called Bomberger’s opinions “offensive rhetoric” and suggested that they “compromised” the college’s mission. “As Student Government, we are committed to the College’s mission to promoting student programming that ‘pursues unity, embraces ethnic diversity, and practices racial reconciliation so that it will contribute to the education of whole persons,’ and therefore, felt it necessary to respond to the offensive rhetoric from the speaker at this event that compromised this mission,” they stated. Bomberger, who is a biracial African American conceived in rape and then raised in a mixed-race family, responded indignantly to the allegations, saying that Rowley, Waaler, and Shields had demonized him. He said also that many students had told him that out of the three, only Shields had attended his talk. “I would think it would be against the college’s mission to intentionally mislead students,” Bomberger wrote in response to the student leaders’ backlash against him. He noted that the student leaders had not provided any evidence for what they allege. “As typical with ‘progressivism’ one only needs to make the claim of offense without allowing people to examine the alleged ‘offense.’ The Dean of Student Engagement, Steve Ivester…praised me for the way in which I approached such heavy issues. But it seems that only some people’s opinions matter,” Bomberger wrote.)

NEW YORK TIMES
— NOVEMBER 22, 1991 FLASHBACK: Reaffirming Commitment, Bush Signs Rights Bill – ANDREW ROSENTHAL (DIERSEN: Of course, my Democrat GAO superiors took this as a directive to get rid of once and for all their employees who were Republican, White, male, and/or non-veteran who they had not promoted to GS-13 (currently $96,403) by age 25, GS-14 (currently $113,920) by age 30, GS-15 (currently $134,000) by age 35, and Senior Executive Service (currently $164,200) by age 40.)
https://www.nytimes.com/1991/11/22/us/reaffirming-commitment-bush-signs-rights-bill.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: President Bush today signed the 1991 Civil Rights Act, hoping to end a bruising two-year fight over job discrimination, but instead found himself embroiled in a political furor over an effort within the Administration to put a conservative interpretation on the new law. Facing protests from civil rights leaders, lawmakers from both parties and members of his Cabinet, Mr. Bush this morning moved to end the uproar caused when the White House Counsel, C. Boyden Gray, circulated a draft of a directive Wednesday night that would have ended the use of racial preferences and quotas in Federal Government hiring. That draft gave rise to reports that the President would order all Federal agencies today to phase out the use of racial preferences and quotas in hiring to underscore his opposition to affirmative action. Some political opponents and those who have voiced doubt about his commitment to civil rights suggested that Mr. Bush was trying to undo by executive action what he could not achieve in his fight with Congress over the wording in the Civil Rights Act. Disputes Flare Anew Moving quickly to try to dispel that impression, Mr. Bush this morning had his press secretary, Marlin Fitzwater, say that Mr. Gray had acted without his knowledge, and the White House called civil rights leaders who had been invited to the signing ceremony to assure them that the affirmative action regulations dating from 1965 were not being wiped out. Still, some of his critics raised doubts about whether Mr. Bush really intended to abandon Mr. Gray’s effort. And late in the day, controversy erupted again over another aspect of the formal signing statement that was made public after Mr. Bush signed the bill at a ceremony in the Rose Garden. Republican and Democratic lawmakers alike criticized a passage in the statement in which Mr. Bush endorsed a hotly debated interpretation of certain provisions of the new anti-discrimination law that gives employers the broadest discretion in citing “business necessity” to defend policies that exclude blacks, women and other minority groups from hiring. In his speech, which amounted to a highly unusual repudiation of a close aide and followed a chaotic overnight review of the proposed changes in Federal hiring practices, the President cast aside Mr. Gray’s language on affirmative action.)

That will not be true for me. My retirement income is only 43% of what my salary was in 1997 in today’s dollars. — OUTSTANDING: Activist voices opposition to legal Illinois marijuana sales – AP
https://www.bnd.com/news/state/illinois/article222349210.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: An opponent to legal marijuana in Illinois says it will allow white corporate exploitation of minority customers. Chicago activist the Rev. Gregory Seal Livingston on Wednesday called the effort to take over a lucrative illegal market “a gangsta move worthy of Al Capone.” He added “profit is the motive,” in legalizing the drug. Illinois has already decriminalized the possession of small amounts of marijuana. Livingston was joined in voicing opposition to legal marijuana sales by members of Healthy and Productive Illinois. That is a group that opposes legalization and is supported by Smart Approaches to Marijuana, a national anti-cannabis organization. Gov. Bruce Rauner signed legislation this summer that expands medical marijuana use to people prescribed opioids. The move increased the number of medical marijuana users by more than 46,000 patients. Democrat governor-elect J.B. Pritzker has said he hopes to legalize cannabis soon after he takes office.)

They were beyond furious that while I worked for the Post Office part-time, I earned full-time CSRS credit. The aforesaid made me eligible for GAO’s $25,000 buyout and early retirement offer in 1993 when I was 45 years old. Overwhelmingly, those who GAO hires have no job-related work experience, let alone experience working for other federal agencies. GAO audits IRS and the Post Office.)

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2018/11/28/gops-h-2b-expansion-gives-business-unlimited-supply-of-foreign-workers/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Republican lawmakers are looking to slip the more than doubling of the H-2B visa program into a last-second spending bill that is expected to be passed before the new year. In total, there are roughly 1.5 million foreign workers in U.S. college-graduate jobs, plus at least 300,000 blue-collar or manual labor jobs. Meanwhile, there are five million Americans who are not in the labor force who want a job with more than 500,000 Americans saying they are discouraged by their job prospects. Every year, America’s working and middle class have their wages reduced by an inflow of more than 1.5 million mostly low-skilled foreign workers who are admitted to the country. This importation of illegal and legal foreign workers has left the country’s bottom line of workers with stagnant wages since the 1970s and forces them to compete with foreign workers for blue-collar jobs.)

Per Wikipedia “1972 was the last year for chrome bumpers at both front and rear, the vacuum actuated pop-up windshield wiper door, as well as the removable rear window common to all 1968-72 coupes. The key activated anti-theft alarm system became standard. The increasingly popular choice of an automatic transmission was installed in most Corvettes for the first time, with nearly 54 percent so equipped. This year SAE net measurement for horsepower was now utilized (away from the previous SAE gross standard), and was largely responsible for the much lower engine output figures such as the 200 hp (149 kW) rating on the standard 350 cu in (5.7 L) motor.”)

It being a holiday, we even let him park it in the driveway. The ’82 Corvette—the last of the third-generation (C3) design—is perhaps the least-loved model-year of all, due to the fact that these wildly fast-looking cars were so shockingly slow and underpowered. Trapped inside that wasp-waisted fiberglass bod is a 5.7-liter V8 wheezing out a mere 200 hp due to its crude emissions-control plumbing. The 1982 Corvette is that zoologically unlikely thing, a sexy slug.)

— DuPage County will have at least three contested mayoral races – Robert Sanchez
https://www.dailyherald.com/news/20181126/dupage-county-will-have-at-least-three-contested-mayoral-races
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Wheaton Voters in Wheaton will choose between two contenders vying to succeed Mayor Michael Gresk, who is stepping down after three terms. City Councilman Phil Suess officially entered the mayoral race on the last day of candidate filing, though he confirmed his campaign months ago. His council colleague and opponent in the mayoral race, John Prendiville, turned in his nominating petitions when the filing period opened a week ago. Three candidates — incumbent Suzanne Fitch and newcomers Ron Almiron and Erica Bray-Parker — will square off for two available at-large council seats. Nominating papers were filed last Monday on behalf of Fitch and Almiron, an attorney who finished out of contention in a crowded GOP primary last spring for two District 4 seats on the county board. Erica Bray-Parker also filed last Monday for an at-large council seat. Bray-Parker has been a civics teacher at Glenbard North High School for 25 years and lived in Wheaton for more than two decades. Four council members represent the city’s four voting districts, while two members and the mayor are elected at-large. Suess, a partner in an investment consulting firm, ran unopposed last year to retain his seat representing the North District. His fourth term on the council doesn’t expire until 2021. Prendiville served on the council from 2007 to 2011 and again since 2013 after an unsuccessful run to unseat Gresk as mayor. He is the managing director and senior managing counsel for The Bank of New York Mellon Corp., a firm that acts as a trustee for municipal bond issues.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Political insiders are divided over how much of this has to do with a drag on the ticket from the locally unpopular President Donald Trump and Gov. Bruce Rauner, with the latter losing to Democrat J.B. Pritzker in all but McHenry County. But when even long-time entrenched GOP incumbents like DuPage County Board President Dan Cronin barely survive, something is different. In DuPage, which for decades was the center of GOP statewide politics, Cronin got just 51.02 percent of the vote against his Democratic foe, according to unofficial but complete totals compiled by the county’s election commission. Democrats took the county clerk’s spot and apparently will have seven seats on the county board, up from just one now. All of that comes on top of Democratic U.S. Reps. Dan Lipinski, Mike Quigley, Raja Krishnamoorthi and Bill Foster, and Reps.-elect Sean Casten and Lauren Underwood, each leading the ballot in that portion of their districts located in DuPage.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: 1. Reinstate the draft. All must serve 18 months at 18 years old. Men and women. All must leave home. No exemptions. No deferments. Have a choice of military or social service. Black, white, Hispanic, Christian, non-Christian working side by side for 18 months to help form their values for the rest of their lives – before being brainwashed by college intellectuals, gangs, imams and other bigots. 2. Stop the massive immigration to give us time to fix things. 3. Return to pay-as-you-go for college. Make students work for a college education. 4. Recognize this division for what it is and ignore all the other demonization against politicians by the other party or by fake news media. The media hide this root cause of our divisions. Politicians refuse to discuss it.)

NEW YORK TIMES
— FRONT PAGE: Why the Announcement of a Looming White Minority Makes Demographers Nervous – Sabrina Tavernise (DIERSEN: Ever-increasingly, Democrats shout at non-Whites that Republicans are White supremacists, Nazis, KKK members, haters, racists, sexists, bigots, and even worse things who should be gotten rid of once and for all. Ever-increasingly, non-Whites talk and act like they agree with Democrats.
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/11/22/us/white-americans-minority-population.html

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The graphic was splashy by the Census Bureau’s standards and it showed an unmistakable moment in America’s future: the year 2044, when white Americans were projected to fall below half the population and lose their majority status. The presentation of the data disturbed Kenneth Prewitt, a former Census Bureau director, who saw it while looking through a government report. The graphic made demographic change look like a zero-sum game that white Americans were losing, he thought, and could provoke a political backlash. So after the report’s release three years ago, he organized a meeting with Katherine Wallman, at the time the chief statistician for the United States. “I said ‘I’m really worried about this,’” said Dr. Prewitt, now a professor of public affairs at Columbia University. He added, “Statistics are powerful. They are a description of who we are as a country. If you say majority-minority, that becomes a huge fact in the national discourse.”)

POLITICO ILLINOIS
— Call it a second blue wave. With mail-in ballots finally counted in Lake County, Democrat Mary Edly-Allen defeated Republican state Rep. Helene Miller Walsh. It was one of four races to swing from red to blue Monday, two weeks after the general election. In the Lake County Sheriff’s race, Democrat John Idleburg defeated incumbent Republican Mark Curran. Because just 137 votes separate the candidates, Curran is expected to ask for a recount. . .Lake County is considered a battleground area. So everyone has a view on why it’s swinging more left in this election cycle. Were voters pushed there by President Donald Trump’s rhetoric? One Democratic campaign strategist credits J.B. Pritzker’s investment of millions of dollars in mail ballots for giving Edly-Allen and other Lake County races a boost. “Those down-ballot races are won on the margins and being able to have that program and money taken care of from the top of the ticket is huge,” he said. A GOP lawmaker grumbles that it was Gov. Bruce Rauner’s negatives that pulled Republican candidates down in Lake County. POLITICO ILLINOIS
— When former state GOP leader Pat Brady said President Donald Trump’s rhetoric about women and minorities “hurts” Republicans, some guests at Monday’s City Club event booed. “Whether you like it or not,” Brady told the City Club crowd at Maggiano’s Banquets, “We have to come up with an Illinois strategy that bifurcates us away from the president’s message or we won’t be able to recruit people.” Monday’s contentious scene is just another indication of how divided the Republican Party is after that blue-ish wave swept Illinois. The event was titled “Illinois GOP: Now What?” At one point Brady also called out Dan Proft, who runs a right-wing PAC, for funneling $1.2 million to a primary candidate challenging Illinois House Republican leader Jim Durkin—who ultimately won. That kind of financial support could have benefited Erika Harold, Brady said of the GOP attorney general candidate who fell short. Brady wants financial support to carry candidates through the general election. But Proft, also a panelist, disagreed, saying, “Competition produces better goods and services. Primaries are for improving the quality of the caucus and generals are for growing the caucus.” There was a glimmer of unity. Proft agreed with Brady on the need to do a better job recruiting young people, women and minorities. So now what? . . . A Cook County Circuit Court judge has ruled a Chicago restaurateur can move ahead with his defamation lawsuit against Crain Communications.

AFTAH is dedicated to “apply[ing] the same single-minded determination to opposing the radical homosexual agenda and standing for God-ordained sexuality and the natural family as countless homosexual groups do in promoting their harmful agenda.” LaBarbera frequently debates homosexual issues on mainstream and pro-LGBT media, and has written for LifeSiteNews. On Sunday, Facebook took down AFTAH’s Facebook page entirely, leaving only a “Page Not Found” message in its place as of the time of this writing.)
