(FROM THE ARTICLE: A wealthy school district in the Chicago suburbs hosted “anti-racism” training for school leadership that told administrators that expecting people of color to teach white people is a form of “covert white supremacy.” On Feb. 26, Naperville District 203 held an “anti-racism” training hosted by the Countywide Equity Institute and leadership coach Dena Simmons. Topics included best “equity and inclusion” practices for the district as well as “implicit bias” and “microaggressions” training. According to a report from The Federalist, Simmons, the keynote speaker, told attendees that Americans are “spiritually murdering” black students. Simmons also reportedly told listeners that white people removing snow is indicative of systemic racism. The speaker was likely referencing a Los Angeles Times article wherein the author condemned her Republican neighbor for snow plowing her driveway days after the Capitol riot. In an article entitled “How to Be an Antiracist Educator,” Simmons, who graduated from Yale University, praised The New York Times’ widely-criticized “1619 Project” as the gold standard for education. Simmons also said during a TEDx talk that “white supremacy” is the result of schools that refuse to teach “racial justice” and “anti-racism” to students. A tweet from Jayne Williard, the assistant superintendent of curriculum in District 203, shows that 10 other panelists were slated to talk throughout the “anti-racism” training. One of the panelists includes Valda Valburn who is the CEO of Valburn Consulting Group, a diversity and inclusion organization that partners with school districts to teach them how to be “anti-racist.” The organization boasts partnerships with the University of Virginia’s business school and a slew of public and private K-12 institutions across the country. A whistleblower teacher at a District 203 high school sent The Federalist screenshots of slides obtained from Valburn’s presentation on “Leading for Equity: Efficacy and Action in Schools.” One of the slides listed countless “socially acceptable” forms of “covert white supremacy,” one example included the campaign slogan “Make America Great Again.” Other examples of “covert white supremacy” included “not believing experiences of [people of color],” “police murdering [people of color],” “Euro-centric Curriculum,” “Expecting [people of color] to teach white people,” “assuming that good intentions are enough,” “celebrating Columbus Day,” “the bootstrap theory,” and becoming a “self-appointed white ally.” Valburn’s presentation also defined “racial justice.” The definition drew an eerily similar connection to the rhetoric used by so-called Democratic socialists. “Social justice: A vision of society in which the distribution of resources and power is equitable and all members are physically and psychologically safe and secure,” the slide reads. “Social justice involves social actors who have a sense of their own agency as well as a sense of social responsibility toward and with individuals and society.” Another slide said that pushing for “diversity” is not enough because “diversity” encompasses multiple human characteristics used to identify individuals and groups. The slide insinuates that “diversity” does not promote “racial justice” because it does not account enough for race. The training was hosted shortly after the Illinois State Board of Education voted to pass new “culturally responsive” teaching standards that force educators to “embrace and encourage progressive viewpoints.” According to a copy of the new standards obtained by The Daily Wire, teachers are required to “assess how their biases and perceptions affect their teaching practice and how they access tools to mitigate their own behaviors.” This includes, but is not limited to, racism, sexism, homophobia, unearned privilege, and Eurocentrism. The legislation makes clear that teachers and leaders must also affirm the identity of gender-dysphoric students. This includes integrating and implementing “the wide spectrum and fluidity of identities” into course curriculum.)

Starting Monday, the White House’s press office said it will start charging journalists for coronavirus tests, which are required for anyone entering the White House grounds. The proposed cost for each test: $170. With dozens of journalists at the White House each day, the fees could add up to tens of thousands of dollars flowing from newsrooms, many of them small and cash-strapped, into government coffers. Until now, the cost of testing has been borne by the White House. But officials there contend that the cost of maintaining the testing regime for nearly a year has strained its budget. So it wants to shift the burden onto news organizations: No test, no entry to the White House. The plan has alarmed the White House Correspondents’ Association, which represents reporters in issues affecting the presidential press corps. The organization has objected to the proposal because of the financial burden it would impose on news organizations, especially smaller ones for whom a $170 daily fee would be onerous. “It sets up a means test for White House coverage,” said one correspondents’ association member familiar with the proposal, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the policy hasn’t been formally announced. No other federal agency charges journalists a test fee, this person said. The fees would add up quickly for larger news organizations, too. The TV networks send as many as eight people a day to the White House grounds to report, produce and operate cameras and equipment. It would cost $1,360 a day to test an eight-person crew under the White House plan. News organizations collectively are limited to 80 people a day on the White House grounds because of coronavirus restrictions. This includes those working in the briefing room and workspaces behind it as well as those who maintain TV camera positions outside the Oval Office on the North Lawn. News organizations have long paid many of the costs of covering the White House. When reporters travel with the president on Air Force One, for example, they are billed by the White House for the trip. They also pay for temporary office space during presidential trips, and for meals when they accompany the president on “pool” duty assignments. But health and security measures have typically been the responsibility of the White House — in other words, taxpayers — not news organizations. “Nobody asked us to pay a fee to put up the fence,” said one journalist, referring to new security barriers around the White House complex. The White House Correspondents’ Association declined to comment, as did White House press secretary Jen Psaki. The tests would be administered under a contract with CVS Health. After prodding from the correspondents’ association, White House officials agreed this week to accept proof of an outside test as an alternative condition for entry. Private tests in the region range from around $50 to $200 or more, depending on the speed, location and method used. But it’s still unclear what kinds of outside tests would satisfy the White House. Some have suggested that making vaccinations available to White House reporters, or even requiring that journalists get vaccinations on their own, could resolve the daily testing issue. But scientists still aren’t certain whether vaccinated people can spread the coronavirus, even if they are immune to its symptoms. In another concession, the White House officials agreed to continue covering the costs of tests administered to pool reporters — those assigned to follow the president when he travels and for those attending daily press briefings. That would cover only a small number of reporters, however. Social-distancing rules adopted last year by the White House Correspondents’ Association limit the number of reporters attending the daily briefings to just 14 at a time.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Wheaton, Illinois, is home to Wheaton College, which is dubbed the “Harvard of Christian schools” in America. The city also boasts of 73 churches, supporting its claim to be the town with the “second most churches per capita in America.” But when the First Assembly of God lost its mortgage in 2013, the Islamic Center of Wheaton (ICW) paid $3.15 million for the seven-acre property and moved into the building – creating a hotbed for Islamic extremism in the middle of America’s evangelical epicenter. Being the first mosque ever to set roots in the town where America’s most prominent Christian evangelist Billy Graham went to seminary, ICW raised a lot of interest in the community. On its first “Open Mosque Day,” it attracted 250 people, mainly Christians and students from Wheaton College who enjoyed the hospitality of the new worship center. “We want to present a positive image of an Islamic center …. We just want to be a good neighbor …,” ICW president and spokesman Dr. Abraham Antar told the Chicago Tribune in late 2013. Yet, Wheaton families of any religion – including the suburb’s diverse Muslim community – should question the rosy image that Antar seeks to project. ICW’s leaders belong to Islamist organizations that stem from extremist, often violent movements based in the Middle East and South Asia. In-house guides For example, Antar himself is an “active volunteer” with two Islamist groups (the Muslim American Society [MAS] and the Chicago chapter of the Islamic Circle of North America [ICNA]) that have openly declared their allegiance to foreign extremists. Moreover, his wife Zahra was a speaker at a 2016 convention in Chicago jointly hosted by the same organizations. (See sidebar) It doesn’t stop there. Ibrahim Dardasawi, the imam of ICW, is a frequent guest at Islamist conventions in Chicago, including events sponsored by MAS-ICNA and American Muslims for Palestine, an anti-Israel nonprofit accused of providing a “platform for anti-Semitism.” For years, Dardasawi has “blessed” these conventions with his mellow voice in recitations of the Quran and Nasheeds (Islamic songs). While Dardasawi mainly leads prayers and delivers sermons at ICW, the vice president of the mosque – Sheikh Omer Haqqani – is more active in public outreach, interfaith relations, and youth education behalf of the mosque. Sadly, Haqqani may not be offering mentorship that helps young Muslims at ICW integrate with the community. He is a graduate of India’s fundamentalist Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama, also known as Nadwa. (See sidebar). In any case, it is unclear what Haqqani teaches Muslim youth about their Christian neighbors and Islam. When asked during an interview about the books he uses for religious education at ICW, Haqqani refused to answer, possibly because the mosque curriculum draws upon the same radical theories espoused by his alma mater. Outside guides In addition to its radical leadership, Wheaton’s only mosque also plays host to extremist guest speakers. Locals visiting the worship center might chance upon Islamists such as Sabri Samirah, who presented a Friday sermon, or khutbah, at ICW in 2015. Samirah is a well-known Muslim Brotherhood leader in Jordan, and the former chairman of a pro-Hamas nonprofit shuttered in 2004 because of its role in financing international terrorism. His invitation to preach at ICW further reveals the mosque’s radical ideological identity. Indeed, Samirah’s appearance followed 11 years of exile after he was designated a security threat by U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Services. Furthermore, Wheaton evangelists visiting ICW should be wary of the missionizing purpose behind its “Open Mosque” days. These events are often sponsored by GainPeace, an ICNA offshoot that whitewashes militant jihad in early Islamic history and misinforms non-Muslims. In a nationwide billboard campaign, GainPeace sought to ensure Christians that Muslims honor Jesus as a respected and revered prophet. However, less-public GainPeace training materials slander the Christian understanding of Jesus as rooted in paganism and “sketchy biographical material, poorly researched and compiled.” Successfully misguiding Nevertheless, there are signs that ICW’s propagandist teachings may be working. It’s apparent the Chicago suburb remains ignorant of the Islamic center’s radical agenda – as indicated by a Wheaton College professor who violated the school’s spiritual principles in 2015 by declaring that Muslims and Christians worship the same god, and other faculty who delivered flowers to ICW and begged “repentance for the ways in which evangelicals have abused Muslims.” It’s a pity that (Milton) Township, which boasts one of the most diverse Muslim refugee populations in the U.S., only has the Islamic Center of Wheaton – a proverbial wolf in sheep’s clothing – for its Muslim immigrants. The mosque promotes intolerance, anti-Semitism, and victimhood, ultimately hindering the integration of the new Muslim generations into the American community. To be a good neighbor to and a positive influence on these refugee families – as Dr. Abraham Antar declared years ago – ICW should revoke its affiliation with extremist organizations and cleanse its leadership ranks of Islamist elements. Otherwise, Wheaton’s only mosque should be exposed and discredited as a radical institution incapable of assimilation. Some feel a major part of the party establishment consists of “Republicans in name only,” or RINOs, who no longer represent their voter base. The movement aims to fill the many vacant positions of precinct committee officers.
