FED SMITH
— Becoming a Thrift Savings Plan Millionaire: One Federal Employee’s Story – Dan Magneson
https://www.fedsmith.com/2017/05/21/becoming-tsp-millionaire-one-federal-employees-story/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: So, twenty years after I first bought that magazine, I can attest to the truth of the projections that those charts and graphs – and the TSP calculator – illustrate: that by making regular contributions – and contributing the maximum that you can – an ordinary, run-of-the-mill person can indeed become a millionaire. It is not just smoke-and-mirrors or a mirage and while it doesn’t happen overnight, it can happen over time. For myself, my government career can very roughly be divided into thirds: about the first 1/3 was spent working various positions between GS-3 and GS-7. The next 1/3 was spent as a GS-9, and only in the third to date have I reached a GS-11. So I am not particularly remarkable in this regard, nor am I boasting or bragging. In fact, just the opposite: By not having climbed all that far up the career ladder myself, I am simply pointing out just how possible that it still really is; this would seem to be a goal well within reach of a lot of everyday folks. And if the markets cooperate and deliver exceptionally-robust returns, it could happen sooner than you think. But the absolute worst thing you can do is convince yourself that accumulating substantial wealth is simply not attainable; if you do that, you’ll defeat yourself before you even get started. I think it was Henry Ford who said, if not verbatim, something to the effect of: “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t – you’re right.”)

May 21 Morning Edition

GOPUSA ILLINOIS
— In 2018, which Republican candidates are going to run for federal, state, and county offices in DuPage County?  Who does Rauner want to run for Attorney General, Comptroller, Secretary of State, and Treasurer?  I urge all of them to have an entry in Wheaton’s 2017 Independence Day Parade. SEE:
https://www.eventbrite.com/e/2017-independence-day-celebration-parade-entry-tickets-31882733113  So far, the Milton Township Republican Central Committee and James Mendrick for DuPage County Sheriff have entries.  Since I moved to Wheaton in 1978, I have encouraged Republican candidates and elected officials to have entries in Wheaton’s Independence Day Parades.  This year, for the 12th year in a row, I will be seeking donations from Republicans so that “DuPage Republicans” can again be one of the two $2,500 “Star” sponsors and again sponsor the Wheaton high school bands and the Tunes of Glory Pipes and Drums parade entries.  According to the Wheaton Park District which organizes the July 3 fireworks and July 4 parade, being a $2,500 “Star” sponsor includes: “Media Print Advertisements, Social Media Promotion, Website Preference, Email Blasts, Event Posters/Flyers, Press Release, 10×10 Booth on July 3, Inclusion in Announcements on July 3, Premium Seating at Graf Park for July 3 Fireworks, Event Sponsor Banners,” and more.  Outstandingly, again this year Tim Whelan will coordinate Republican use of the 10×10 booth at the fireworks.  This year again, I will hand deliver flyers to the residences and businesses on the parade route that will list the Republican entries in the parade and the Republicans who helped sponsor entries. So far, outstandingly, Roger Claar has contributed $500, Chris Nybo has pledged $250, and Peter Breen, Grant Eckhoff, Amy Grant, Gwen Henry, Tim Whelan, and others have pledged $100.  Last year, outstandingly, Chris Nybo contributed $250; Liam Brennan, Dave Diersen, and Phil Suess contributed $150; and Bob Berlin, Peter Breen, Fred Bucholz, Mike Connelly, Tim Elliott, Amy Grant, Jeanne Ives, Rich Jorgensen, Chris Kachiroubas, Mark Kirk, Brian Krajewski, Robert Lyon, James Mendrick, Deanne Mazzochi, Peter Roskam, Darlene Ruscitti, Tim Whelan, and Jim Zay contributed $100. – Dave Diersen

http://herald-review.com/lifestyles/family/traditional-milestones-are-no-longer/article_ec26b99f-2e68-58ee-86e1-cd0b66b46b7a.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: This postponement of the age of marriage by young people compared to prior decades — partly spurred by improved educational and economic status in their 20s for women such as Jeffery — is just one of many long-term trends highlighted by national statistics in a recent U.S. Census Bureau report. The April report, “The Changing Economics and Demographics of Young Adulthood: 1975-2016,” puts numbers to some often-discussed aspects of today’s millennial generation — ones that may inspire either frustration, sympathy or nodding approval from their baby boomer parents, who themselves often broke with their parents’ traditions. Examining census and other survey data about the 18-to-34 age group, the report notes: — The percentage of women ages 20-24 who are married fell from 57 percent in 1976 to 17 percent in 2014, while those with a child fell from 31 percent to 25 percent. It is thus more common for a 25-year-old woman to be a mother than a wife. — About one of three 18-to-34-year-olds relies on parents’ financial help, and a similar proportion live in their parents’ homes. The percentage living independently fell from 51 percent in 2005 to 41 percent in 2015. — The economic situation of young men has plummeted, with 41 percent of those ages 25-34 earning less than $30,000 annually, compared to just 25 percent who were below that inflation-adjusted threshold in 1975. The status of women has spiked, meanwhile, as only 14 percent in that age group are homemakers now compared to 43 percent in 1975. Despite economic gains compared to young men, however, their earnings still trail those of males. — Sharing a home with an unmarried partner has been the fastest-growing living arrangement over the past four decades, used by 12 percent of 18-to-34-year-olds in 2016 compared to less than 1 percent in 1975. The age group’s most common living arrangement, however, is living with parents, which has overtaken living with a spouse. The report pointed out how today’s millennials generally fail to reach benchmarks of adult independence by an age that most of society considers ideal. A 2012 survey of the U.S. population, for instance, found 21 was deemed the ideal age of financial independence from parents, but only 29 percent of 21-year-olds currently achieve that. And 22 was the consensus as the ideal age of obtaining full-time employment, but only 37 percent have such jobs by that age. Similarly, wide gaps show up for getting married and becoming a parent. Putting together four yardsticks by which someone might fully embrace adulthood — a job, marriage, parenthood and living apart from parents — nearly half of 25-to-34-year-olds could claim all of those in 1975, but fewer than one-fourth could in 2016, according to the report.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Alt-left advocates for net neutrality, who say they want a “free and open internet,” want to ban the Drudge Report. Members of the alt-left who have been tied to violent protests in the past picketed outside the Federal Communications Commission on Thursday in protest of Chairman Ajit Pai’s proposal to reverse net neutrality rules. The FCC will vote to undo the Obama era Title II rule that classified Internet service providers as utilities, subjecting them to more federal regulation. Protesters covering their faces held signs that read “Ban Drudge,” with a no symbol over the Drudge Report, the highly trafficked news website run by Matt Drudge. Other protesters held signs to ban other news websites, including Breitbart and InfoWars. Organizers of the campaign “Protect Our Internet” are connected to PopularResistance.org, which features several members of the antifascist (antifa) campaign. http://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/evanston/news/ct-evr-evanston-racial-discrimination-lawsuit-tl-0504-20170519-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: A former Evanston public works director Suzette Robinson is suing the city and several city officials for what the lawsuit alleges was “discrimination on the basis of race, harassment and [a] racially hostile work environment, and for retaliation.” However, Evanston’s city manager, who was named as one of the defendants in the suit, said Suzette Robinson’s race played no part in the decision to eliminate her job. “I deny Ms. Robinson’s claims in this lawsuit that race or retaliation had any role in my decision-making,” said Evanston City Manager Wally Bobkiewicz. In the complaint, filed May 27, 2016, in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Robinson asks for $75,000 in compensation, plus attorney’s fees and punitive damages. She names Bobkiewicz, the City of Evanston, city attorney W. Grant Farrar and human resources manager Jennifer Lin as defendants. According to the lawsuit, Robinson was public works director for Evanston from March 2010 until August 2015. The suit said that she was one of “three African-American employees at the department director level reporting directly to Bobkiewicz.” The complaint reads that Robinson’s position was eliminated, “effective immediately,” in August 2015 after Bobkiewicz stated “that the city planned to combine public works and utilities into one department named the public works agency.” But the lawsuit says the City Council did not approve the “proposed reorganization” until September 2015. Robinson alleges that Bobkiewicz “discriminated against her on the basis of race” and “retaliated against her” “for filing complaints about racial discrimination,” according to court documents.)

NEW YORK TIMES
— The Conservative Force Behind Speeches Roiling College Campuses – STEPHANIE SAUL  (DIERSEN: Ever-increasingly, schools crank out hate-filled “good little Democrats” who are anti-Trump, anti-Protestant, anti-conservative, anti-Republican, anti-American, anti-White, anti-male, anti-older people, anti-rich people, anti-gun owners, anti-German Americans, anti-draft avoiders (except Bill Clinton), and/or anti-those whose ancestors have been in America longer than their ancestors.)
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/20/us/college-conservative-speeches.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE:  “Let’s give it up for the racists that are hosting this event!” someone yelled, and the crowd roared, foot-stomping in unison, then breaking into song: Woody Guthrie’s “This Land Is Your Land.” One member of the audience held up a sign, “Queers Against Islamaphobia.” Another unfurled a banner: “Muslims Welcome. Fascists Get Out.” Close to 200 students kept up the noise for more than an hour in a University at Buffalo lecture hall on May 1, mostly drowning out the evening’s featured speaker, Robert Spencer, a conservative author and blogger who espouses a dark view of Islam. The event appeared to follow a familiar script, in which a large contingent of liberals muzzles a provocative speaker invited by a small conservative student club. But the propelling force behind the event — and a number of recent heat-seeking speeches on college campuses — was a national conservative group that is well funded, highly organized and on a mission, in its words, to “restore sanity at your school.” The group, the Young America’s Foundation, had paid Mr. Spencer’s $2,000 fee, trained the student leader who organized the event and provided literature for distribution. Other than the possibility of outside interference, little had been left to chance. The speeches are a part of the group’s mission of grooming future conservative leaders — Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Stephen Miller, a White House adviser, are among its alumni — and its long list of donors has included the television game show host Pat Sajak, the novelist Tom Clancy, the billionaire brothers David H. and Charles G. Koch, and the Amway billionaires Richard and Helen Devos, who gave $10 million to endow the Reagan Ranch near Santa Barbara, Calif., which the foundation runs as a preserve. (Their daughter-in-law, Betsy DeVos, the secretary of education, is not a donor, the group says.) Over the past two years, armed with a $16 million infusion from the estate of an orthodontist in California, Robert Ruhe, the organization has doubled its programming, including campus speeches. In 2016 that meant 111 speakers on 77 campuses. On the group’s website, it boasted of “dispatching” 31 speakers to colleges last month alone. In that time, the speakers have gotten edgier, more in-your-face and sometimes even meanspirited. Among them is Ann Coulter, whose canceled speech last month at the University of California, Berkeley, led the foundation, which was covering most of her $20,000 fee, to sue the college, arguing that it had violated the First Amendment in its failure to provide a suitable time and place for the event. The resulting clashes on university campuses, including protests and efforts to block speeches, have raised free speech questions. And at Berkeley, even liberals who oppose Ms. Coulter’s viewpoints said her speech should have been allowed to proceed. In the meantime, protesters have questioned whether such events are cynically intended to provoke reactions. “It’s part of a larger systematic and extremely well-funded effort to disrupt public universities and create tension among student groups on campus,” said Alexandra Prince, a doctoral student at Buffalo who circulated a petition to block Mr. Spencer.)

http://www.govexec.com/pay-benefits/2017/05/trumps-2018-budget-reportedly-targets-federal-retirement-programs/138014/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The proposed cuts to retirement benefits sparked swift condemnation by Democrats and groups representing federal workers and retirees. Richard Thissen, national president of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association, called the proposal an “egregious attack on federal service and seniors” and “unconscionable.”  “The president purports to defend government annuities like Social Security and then proposes to eliminate cost-of-living adjustments for some and limit COLAs for those already retired and living on fixed incomes,” Thissen said. “It is beyond insulting. It is downright mean. Simultaneously promoting tax cuts and forcing a tax on just federal employees, through an increase in retirement contributions, is the height of hypocrisy.” J. David Cox, national president of the American Federation of Government Employees blasted the plan as something that “defies reason.” “The American people knows what’s fair, and raiding the already-modest retirement benefits of the people who inspect our food and lock up dangerous criminals is beyond the pale,” Cox said. “These proposals portray an astounding misplacement of priorities that the American public should not soon forget.” And Rep. Gerry Connolly, D-Va., said cuts to federal retirement benefits will hurt the government’s ability to attract workers capable of fulfilling the missions of various federal agencies. “The biggest losers from President Trump’s draconian cuts to federal employee pay and benefits will be the American people who count on dedicated federal employees to care for our veterans, maintain our national parks, and process Social Security checks each and every day,” Connolly said. “Cuts of this magnitude will make it impossible to recruit and retain the qualified workforce we need to meet our nation’s challenges.”)

CNN
— Driver charged with murder in Times Square crash – Rob Frehse and Ray Sanchez
http://www.cnn.com/2017/05/19/us/new-york-times-square-driver-charged/index.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Rojas, 26, of the Bronx, tested positive for PCP and told police that God made him do it, a law enforcement source told CNN.
The suspect, who suffered from “psychological issues,” told police he expected officers to shoot him, according to the source. Rojas has been arrested twice in New York — in 2015 and 2008 — for drunken driving, New York Police Commissioner James O’Neill said.)

WASHINGTON POST
— Trump’s budget calls for hits on federal employee retirement programs – Joe Davidson  (DIERSEN: COLAs are far less than inflation, especially for retirees.  I should write a book a) about all the reasons why my $50,856 Civil Service is not higher than it is and b) about my Democrat Post Office, IRS, and GAO superiors who took the lead in wasting my federal career and forcing me to take their early retirement “offer” in 1997 when I was 49 years old.  Of course, they would all say that they simply did what Democrat politicians wanted them to do.)
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpost/wp/2017/05/18/trumps-budget-calls-for-hits-on-federal-employee-retirement-programs/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: But in real terms, the civilian increase would be less than it looks if proposed hits on retirement benefits are adopted. Trump’s fiscal 2018 budget would: . . . Cut the COLA for Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) employees by 0.5 percent from what the formula would allowed . . . The thought of Trump’s assault on federal retirement programs becoming law enrages federal employee leaders.  National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association President Richard Thissen called Trump’s plan “beyond insulting. It is downright mean. Simultaneously promoting tax cuts and forcing a tax on just federal employees, through in an increase in retirement contributions, is the height of hypocrisy.”)

https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2017/05/18/fbi-director-no-politician-editorials-debates/101798996/
(FROM THE EDITORIAL: Lieberman, in particular, should raise eyebrows. At 75, he is hardly of an age one would expect to start on what is normally a 10-year term. He has no federal law enforcement experience. He is a former state attorney general, but those jobs are much more political than their federal counterparts and don’t generally involve a lot of criminal prosecution.)

Yet it is dangerously provocative. – Stella Morabito  (DIERSEN: Many individuals, organizations, companies, and governments blacklist me because I refuse to carry out their blacklist orders.  Should I write a book about a) those individuals, organizations, companies, and governments that blacklist me and b) those individuals, organizations, companies, and governments that they want me to blacklist?  The book would be extremely lengthy.)
https://thefederalist.com/2017/05/17/12-ways-southern-poverty-law-center-scam-profit-hate-mongering/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: What makes the hate list of the Southern Poverty Law Center different from the “burn book” a high school queen bee keeps in the 2004 movie “Mean Girls”? Answer: not much. The burn book was a compilation of insults, gossip, and rumors intended to repel the diva’s “enemies,” label everybody, and keep herself on top of the heap. The SPLC uses its list of designated hate groups in much the same way: to manipulate the lives of others, smear reputations, control personal relationships, and reap the spoils. The dynamic is the same, whether played on the adolescent scene or in the political arena. Both lists serve mostly as power-mongering tools. In civilized societies, we supposedly grow out of that sort of tribalism. But look around and you’ll see such behaviors proliferating in every sphere: politics, journalism, education. A recent headline in the Washington Examiner nailed it: “The Bret Stephens Freak Out is a Reminder that the Media Is Basically a Massive High School Clique.” Why do so many folks treat the SPLC with undeserved reverence, the way too many high school kids treat a self-appointed nasty queen bee? Why do they accept the Southern Poverty Law Center as the nation’s Grand Inquisitor dictating who may speak and who must shut up? And why are its smears and caricatures so often blindly accepted at face value? What qualifies the SPLC to act as judge, jury, and social executioner of any human being who is not their blind supporter? Those questions have been hanging in the air for decades. As with all vilification campaigns, the SPLC plays a dangerous and cruel game under the guise of defending victims. So let’s take a closer look at some of the SPLC’s history and behavior. Let’s count some ways it’s a con game.)

https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2017/05/16/work-and-politics-what-rights-do-employees-have/101753060/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Should your politics outside of work affect your status in the office? A congressman’s letter that helped push a New Jersey attorney to resign after her boss was told she was a grassroots “ringleader,’’ has sparked questions about how much an employer can clamp down on an employee’s activism. The Office of Congressional Ethics has been asked to investigate whether U.S. Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-New Jersey) interfered with the workplace standing of Saily Avelenda, a former senior vice president at Lakeland Bank, when he called out her political activities in a letter to a member of the bank’s board. In an era of heightened political tensions, when football players have knelt in protest during the national anthem and many Americans are marching and boycotting for perhaps the first time, the case is showing how politics and the workplace can collide.)

However, that report also showed that those differences vary greatly by educational level, with federal workers having the lowest levels the farthest ahead by both measures, while the most-educated employees are slightly behind in benefits and well behind in salary–again, on average.)

FED SMITH
— Smart and Pretty: Federal Employee Crowned Miss USA – Ralph R. Smith
https://www.fedsmith.com/2017/05/16/federal-employee-crowned-miss-usa/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: For the second year in a row, the winner of the Miss USA pageant is from Washington, D.C.  Miss District of Columbia, Kara McCullough, was crowned as the new Miss USA last Sunday at the Las Vegas pageant. McCullough is a 25-year-old scientist who works for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission in Rockville, Maryland. She was born in Naples, Italy and raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She is the daughter of a now retired US Navy Chief Petty Officer. As a result, she has traveled and lived in numerous locations around the world including Sicily, Japan, South Korea and Hawaii. Her salary at the agency is $77,490.00 according to data from FedsDataCenter.com. McCullough earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry with a concentration in Radiochemistry from South Carolina State University. Her major provided her the opportunity to intern at several universities. This paved the way to her current career at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The newly crowned Miss USA said she wants to inspire children to pursue careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Last year, District of Columbia resident Deshauna Barber became the first-ever military member to win Miss USA. Perhaps one of the hardest parts of becoming a celebrity overnight is learning how to deal with the media. The new Miss USA quickly found herself embroiled in the health care controversy. When asked during Sunday night’s pageant whether she thinks that affordable health care for all U.S. citizens is a right or a privilege, she said it is a privilege. As a government employee, I’m granted health care and I see firsthand that for one to have health care, you need to have job. That, predictably, was not what some people wanted to hear as they believe health care is a guaranteed right. Twitter, of course, lit up with various views reflecting some of the issues in political divide in America that now infects most of our lives. Here is a brief sample of the variety of comments.)

GOVERNMENT EXECUTIVE
— A Chemist at a Federal Agency Wins Miss USA – Eric Katz
http://www.govexec.com/federal-news/fedblog/2017/05/chemist-federal-agency-wins-miss-usa/137853/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: A federal employee working at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission was named Miss USA on Sunday evening, and pledged to spend her year with the crown encouraging more women to join government and eventually, agency leadership ranks. Kara McCullough, a 25-year-old chemist in NRC’s Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response, represented Washington, D.C., in the annual competition. McCullough grew up in the federal ranks as a military brat, with her father serving as a Navy chief petty officer. In addition to her NRC employment, McCullough volunteers annually at a science fair hosted by the Food and Drug Administration as a judge. McCullough said she would be an ambassador to bring more women into government science, technology, engineering and mathematics positions. She noted that in her experience in federal service, women are often underrepresented. “Personally, I want to see more women possessing leadership positions in private and government energy and health sciences agencies; not just conducting laboratory research,” McCullough said after her victory. “As a woman scientist in the government, I have witnessed and been in many meetings where the ratio of men to women is 10:2. I believe more women should be given the opportunity to be representatives in the energy and medical fields.” On stage, McCullough even made a passing reference to the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program. Asked whether she believed affordable health care for all Americans is a privilege or a right, she said in a response that made waves that it was a privilege, explaining: “As a government employee, I am granted health care and I see first-hand that for one to have health care, you have to have jobs.” NRC tweeted out a congratulatory message to McCullough on Monday.)

http://www.dailyherald.com/article/20170515/news/170519177/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Voters approved a ballot question that makes the township establish a board devoted to improving the availability and quality of services for township residents with mental illness, addiction, and developmental disabilities. Ed Levato was township supervisor when the referendum was placed on the ballot after a successful petition drive organized by a group of residents. He said Monday that township staff members were simply misinformed when they told a Daily Herald reporter before the election that the ballot question was advisory. “They were not given any information about it,” he said. “It wasn’t our referendum. It was a citizens’ initiative.” Levato apologized for the miscommunication. He said he personally didn’t support the measure. “It’s a huge tax increase,” Levato said. According to preliminary estimates, owners of homes valued at $240,000 would pay about $56 a year in property taxes to support the mental health board. The tax is expected to be collected for the first time next year. However, Michael Murray, chairman of the committee that backed the referendum, said their campaign made it clear to residents that some type of tax increase would be necessary to fund the mental health board. The panel will use the money to award grants to agencies that provide detection, early diagnosis, education, assistance and treatment programs.)

— Even humor is leaving the state of Illinois – Rich Miller
http://www.news-gazette.com/opinion/columns/2017-05-14/rich-millercapitol-fax-even-humor-leaving-state-illinois.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Rep. David Olsen, R-Downers Grove, is a cheery and bright young man who generally speaks softly and is of, shall we say, slight build. But he sang a full-throated, a capella version of “Illinois,” our state song. Olsen mesmerized the audience. . .But a freshman Republican House member reportedly took a video of the skit during rehearsal last week and sent it to a member of her leadership team. Republican legislators told me later they were then yanked out of the dance and by showtime last week only Democrats performed during the routine.)

— Real Estate’s New Normal: Homeowners Staying Put – CONOR DOUGHERTY  (DIERSEN: What factors drag down the value of your home? Factors for 915 Cove Court in Wheaton include the subdivision being built in a watershed area and a former septic field, the tremendous amount of surface and subsurface storm water that flows onto the lot during and after heavy rains, the inadequate number of storm sewer inlets in the subdivision, the disruption, obstruction, and improper connection of 6″ and 4″ subterranean drainage lines when the home was built, the pouring the foundation walls on cracked footings, the improper installation and intentional blockage of exterior foundation footing tiles, the installation of only one sump pump when there should have been two or even three or even four, the many long and wide cracks in the basement floor, and the fact that all the storm water that gets into the storm sewer system on the lot is limited to the capacity of just one 4″ pipe.  What factors decrease the likelihood of your basement flooding?  For 915 Cove Court, they include the installation of steel reinforcement rods in foundation walls, the installation of interior footing tiles, my paying $900 when the home was built in 1984 to have all nine of the home’s downspouts directly connected to Wheaton’s storm sewer system, my installing a backup sump pump, my unobstructing and properly connecting the aforesaid subterranean drainage lines to Wheaton’s storm sewer system, my paying for unobstruction (the removal of stones) from some of the exterior footing tiles, my adding hundreds of feet of French drains and many storm sewer inlets on the lot and connecting them directly to Wheaton’s storm sewer system, my properly sealing the many long and wide cracks in the basement floor, my paying for conversion to an overhead sewer system before the basement was finished in 2005, and my paying for a 20-W whole house natural gas backup electric generator for the home.  Since 1984, because of Wheaton’s failure/refusal to assure that building codes were enforced when the subdivision was constructed and when 915 Cove Court was built, I have been forced to spend many thousands of dollars and many hundreds of hours of my labor to stop basement flooding.)

WASHINGTON POST
— In Arizona, teachers can now be hired with absolutely no training in how to teach – Valerie Strauss  (DIERSEN: Democrats are moral relativists who believe that their end justifies their means. Democrats are disciples of Saul Alinsky. Democrats are nasty. GAO audits IRS. My Democrat GAO superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates crowed that they succeeded in forcing me to take an $18,847 (21%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980 when I was 31 years old. They hinted/implied/argued/shouted that none of the following helped me carry out my duties as a GAO employee: a) the almost 9 years that I had worked for IRS, the last 5 1/2 years of which at the GS-12 Step 1-5 levels, currently $79,563-$90,173; b) the fact that much of what I did for IRS was similar to what I did for GAO including interviewing, data gathering, data summary, data analysis, report writing, recommending legal actions, etc.; c) my having passed the CPA examination on my first attempt in 1979; d) my almost having completed the requirements for a master’s degree in accounting from DePaul; e) my having earned an MBA from Loyola in 1976 and a bachelor’s degree in management from NIU in 1970; f) etc.  After I transferred, they  hinted/implied/argued/shouted that none of the following helped me carry out my duties as a GAO employee: a) my completing the requirements for a master’s degree in accounting from DePaul in 1980, b) my passing the Certified Internal Auditor examination on my first attempt in 1981, and c) my earning a master’s degree in financial markets and trading from IIT in 1997 while I was assigned to audits of federal financial industry regulators. If I had been a Democrat, a minority, a female, younger, and/or a veteran, they would not have done the aforesaid.)
