(FROM THE PRESS RELEASE: Today, Thomas More Society attorneys filed a federal lawsuit against Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul, seeking to stop him from enforcing Illinois Senate Bill 1909, a measure drafted by Raoul’s office that declares the pro-life speech of the state’s life pregnancy help ministries to be a “deceptive business practice.” Thomas More Society is representing NIFLA, a national pregnancy help center network, along with several Illinois pregnancy help centers and pro-life organizations. “This law is a blatant attempt to chill and silence pro-life speech under the guise of ‘consumer protection,’” explained Peter Breen, Thomas More Society Executive Vice President and Head of Litigation, and a former Illinois State Legislator. “Pregnancy help ministries provide real options and assistance to women and families in need, but instead of the praise they deserve, pro-abortion politicians are targeting these ministries with $50,000 fines and injunctions solely because of their pro-life viewpoint.” The lawsuit, filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Western Division, seeks a temporary restraining order, preliminary injunction, and permanent injunction against SB 1909. If temporary and preliminary injunctions are granted, they would prevent the law from being enforced while the case makes its way through the court system. “The state government has completely overstepped the bounds of any logical and relevant authority by inserting insane partisan politics into their governing bodies and attempting to trample the First Amendment rights of those with whom they disagree,” said Thomas Glessner, President of NIFLA. “There is no basis for their blatant attacks on pregnancy centers, who provide all of their services for free for women and their families throughout Illinois. They do so out of their deeply held beliefs of caring for one another and exhibiting human decency and compassion for those in need, something the leaders of Illinois are completely clueless about. This attempt to deny mothers their constitutional right to choose life is disgraceful and should be an embarrassment to the people of Illinois.” Under this new revision to the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act, the state seeks to curtail the speech of pro-life organizations by illegally targeting their efforts to “dissuade pregnant [women] from considering abortion care.” It also faults pro-life organizations for “pay[ing] for advertising… that is intended to attract consumers to their organizations and away from medical providers that offer” abortions, accusing the pro-life organizations of providing misleading information “overstating the risks associated with abortion.” Yet, Breen asserts, and as the filing states, that all of the abortion-related information provided by these pro-life centers and organizations is backed by scientific research. “In addition to being unconstitutional and extremely prejudicial,” added Breen, “state officials have not had cause to take legal action against pregnancy help centers, using the tools of the law that were already available.” This lawsuit, Breen stated, has been filed to protect the right of pro-life pregnancy help centers and sidewalk counselors across Illinois to continue their meaningful and important work of providing compassionate and competent advice, care, and support to thousands of women across Illinois facing unplanned pregnancies. Breen observed that the instigation of the new law, backed by Raoul, is completely without rationale or provocation. The Illinois Attorney General’s Office has not been able to provide any hard evidence that pregnancy help centers engage in so-called “deceptive practices.” According to Freedom of Information Act documents obtained from Raoul’s office, Breen shared that “the Attorney General has received zero complaints from members of the public against an Illinois Pregnancy Help Center for alleged violations of the Deceptive Business Practices Act.” Breen also testified before the Illinois House Health Care Availability & Accessibility Committee, which voted to advance SB 1909, despite receiving more than 17,000 witness slips from voters opposing the bill and only a little over 3,000 supporting it. I would focus on the aforesaid who destroy those like me a) who they cannot manipulate or dominate, b) who refuse to glorify and praise them, c) who refuse to pander to them, d) who refuse to serve as one of their operatives or dupes, e) who refuse to cover up their wrongdoing, and/or f) who refuse to give them money. In 1971, when I was 22 years old, Oldsmobile withdrew a job offer that I had accepted saying that it had just agreed to stop hiring Whites to settle an EEOC complaint. Sadly, if not tragically for me, that directly resulted in my accepting a job offer from IRS. Especially after 1974, my Democrat IRS superiors used AA to promote over me my coworkers who were minority, female, and/or veteran and a) who had less job-related work experience than I had, b) who had less job-related education than I had, and/or c) who had not taken the CPA examination, let alone passed it. I earned an MBA from Loyola in 1976 and I passed the CPA examination on my first attempt in 1979. In 1980, because I was not a Democrat, minority, female, veteran. and/or younger, GAO forced me to suffer a $21,863/year (21%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO. My Democrat GAO superiors gave me unfair job assignments, performance expectations, and performance appraisals. They assigned me to supervised all their most problematic employees. The kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO. They delayed my promotions and never promoted me beyond GS-13. They used AA to promote over me my coworkers who were minority, female, and/or veteran and a) who had less job-related work experience than I had, b) who had less job-related education than I had, and/or c) who had not taken the CPA or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) examinations, let alone passed them. I earned a master’s degree in accounting from DePaul in 1980, I passed the CIA examination on my first attempt in 1981, I became a licensed CPA in 1981, I became a Certified Fraud Examiner in 1990, Government Financial Manager in 1994, Financial Services Auditor in 1996, and Forensic Accountant in 1997, and I earned a master’s degree in financial markets and trading from IIT in 1997. I challenge the Daily Kos to publish stories about those like me who have been forced to pay the price of AA by Democrats and by RINOs. I challenge the Daily Kos to publish my story. In 1971, when I was 22 years old, Oldsmobile withdrew a job offer that I had accepted saying that it had just agreed to stop hiring Whites to settle an EEOC complaint. Sadly, if not tragically for me, that directly resulted in my accepting a job offer from IRS. Especially after 1974, my Democrat IRS superiors used AA to promote over me my coworkers who were minority, female, and/or veteran and a) who had less job-related work experience than I had, b) who had less job-related education than I had, and/or c) who had not taken the CPA examination, let alone passed it. I earned an MBA from Loyola in 1976 and I passed the CPA examination on my first attempt in 1979. In 1980, because I was not a Democrat, minority, female, veteran. and/or younger, GAO forced me to suffer a $21,863/year (21%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO. My Democrat GAO superiors gave me unfair job assignments, performance expectations, and performance appraisals. They assigned me to supervised all their most problematic employees. The kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO. They delayed my promotions and never promoted me beyond GS-13. They used AA to promote over me my coworkers who were minority, female, and/or veteran and a) who had less job-related work experience than I had, b) who had less job-related education than I had, and/or c) who had not taken the CPA or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) examinations, let alone passed them. I earned a master’s degree in accounting from DePaul in 1980, I passed the CIA examination on my first attempt in 1981, I became a licensed CPA in 1981, I became a Certified Fraud Examiner in 1990, Government Financial Manager in 1994, Financial Services Auditor in 1996, and Forensic Accountant in 1997, and I earned a master’s degree in financial markets and trading from IIT in 1997. They always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes. They forced me to take their early retirement “offer” in 1997 and gave my job and my preferred corner office to my Black subordinate. The Milton Township Republican Organization, DuPage County Republican Central Committee, Illinois Republican Party, Wheaton, Wheaton Park District, Wheaton Chamber of Commerce, Milton Township, DuPage County, Illinois, TAPROOT Republicans of Illinois, Illinois Center Right Coalition, American Association of Political Consultants Midwest Chapter, etc. have all taken many big adverse actions against me that they would never had taken against me if I was a minority, female, veteran, and/or younger.

SB 1133 compensates landowners up to $75,000 for damages to agricultural land caused by an individual committing a “border crime.” SB 1403 creates an interstate compact without Congressional authority to allow participating states’ law enforcement agencies to share resources and intelligence for purposes of border enforcement. SB 1484 enhances the Department of Public Safety (DPS) training for border operations by creating a training program (which includes training on cartel-related activity as well as the best tactics to address border crimes) for peace officers employed by local law enforcement agencies. My Democrat IRS superiors were making it ever-increasingly clear that they would never promote me to GS-13, currently $109,732/year. GAO claimed to be nonpartisan. The GAO Chicago Office Staff manager (Bill) who arranged for my transfer assured me that under him, GAO would a) quickly promote me to GS-11 Step 10 (currently $100,084/year), b) quickly promote me back to GS-12 Step 5, and c) quickly promote me to GS 13. But immediately after I transferred, the Democrats who ran GAO’s Chicago Office replaced Bill with a Democrat Staff Manager (Dave) who was extremely anti-Republican, if not a Republican-hater. To delay my promotions, that is, to get me, Dave used Affirmative Action and up-or-out a) to give me bad job assignments, b) to give me unfair performance expectations and appraisals, c) to assign me to supervise the office’s most problematic employees, d) to turn all my superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates against me, and e) to kept me off audits of IRS. But then, in 1986, because Dave had gone on extended sick leave, Bill was finally able to get me assigned to audits of IRS and to promote me to GS-13. But then, in 1987, Dave came back and a) threatened me to never apply for a promotion again and forced Bill to retire. Dave then a) threw me off audits of IRS at the end of 1988, b) gave me an extremely bad job assignment at the start of 1989, c) got my supervisor to give me extremely unfair performance expectations and appraisals, d) turned my four subordinates against me, and e) ranked me at the bottom of my coworkers for pay-for-performance (PFP) purposes. That forced me to seek help from my Republican Congressman Henry Hyde. Thanks to Hyde, Dave reduced his efforts to get rid of me somewhat. But Dave still succeed in a) keeping me off audits of IRS for the rest of my GAO career, b) always ranking me in the bottom half of my coworkers for PFP purposes, and c) forcing me to take GAO’s early retirement “offer” in 1997 when I was 49 years old. The aforesaid is called political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, and age discrimination. I should write a book about the aforesaid.
