They hinted/implied/argued/shouted that the graduate business courses that I had taken at Loyola 1972-1976 and the graduate accounting courses that I had taken at DePaul 1976-1977 a) were not job-related, b) did not help me carry out my job duties, c) were taken by me to qualify me for a “new trade or business,” d) were taken by me to get a job in the private sector, and e) were a distraction. To get rid of me, my Democrat IRS superiors had me “under investigation” 1974-1977. They hinted/implied/argued that my partial day per diem claims were fraudulent. Needless-to-say, that ended my IRS career. They would not have done that if I had been a Democrat, a minority, a female, or a veteran.)

But there are also differences. At the NDP camp, workers from different parts of the campaign are “bubbled” and not allowed to interact with their fellow party workers. That is not only a drag for the Smith brothers, but for senior bus staffer Marie Della Mattia and her daughter, Emily, who works at NDP headquarters. The NDP says its rules are based on guidelines from WorkSafeBC and Henry’s office: At headquarters, staff work in small cohort teams that arrive and eat at different times while those on the bus sit in spread-out seats and hand sanitize after every stop. On Thursday, the party issued new protocols for journalists, which includes an online form that asks for symptoms and collects contact-tracing information. The Liberals’ safety plan includes many of those same elements, but also details minimizing the number of workers in campaign offices, prohibiting the public from entering the offices or requiring appointments, and using plastic or shower curtains barriers when physical distance cannot be maintained. The Liberals also have rules for canvassing, which includes limiting physical contact with doorbells and railings, hand-sanitizing between each house, never going into voters’ houses, and never petting their dogs and cats. Campaign material should be carried in a plastic bag, workers must “take every possible precaution to avoid sneezing” on it, and it should never be handed directly to a voter. Liberal events should have no more than 50 people, ideally be held outside, provide masks and sanitizer and, when possible, have assigned seating, the party says. In its safety material, the Green party acknowledges that “COVID-19 has created a situation where campaigning is going to look very different.” For starters, canvassers should wear gloves and, this year more than ever, respect a voter who isn’t interested. “Canvassers must understand that the public may not be comfortable with this type of activity at their place of residence. Team members will need to be polite, respectful and sensitive to people’s comfort levels,” the Green material says. Only team members in the same household bubble should travel in a car together. If additional people must be in the car, roll the windows down. In campaign offices, door handles, printers and sink taps must be cleaned several times a day, and Green party volunteers should avoid using common coffee pots, kettles or microwaves — which could make for some tired and hungry volunteers. Even when it comes to donations, the rules have changed. The Green party would prefer “contactless” transactions, presumably e-transfers, or old-fashioned cash can be dropped into a container with a slot on top.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: As if all this “science and data” the Governor claims he is following is not troubling enough, how about the tying of that data to the mask mandate? Early on the so-called “experts” warned that the use of masks for the healthy was not advised. In fact, it was discouraged for several reasons, of which one was because it could lead to more cases because people would be fiddling with their masks because they are not used to wearing one and that would lead to more cases. Looking at the data, Illinois hit a low from the first peak just after the middle of June. May 29th was the face mask mandate. About three weeks after that mandate, positive cases climbed. Is it possible the data is telling us the masks were doing exactly what the “experts” told us in the beginning? Considering I have yet to find one person who washes their mask after being out in public, it is quite possible that masks are a contributing factor to the increased numbers. Don’t take this to mean masks don’t help to slow the spread. We are simply suggesting the data points to more cases shortly after the mask mandate and that mandate had no guidance on the importance of making sure the mask you wear does not have a valve, is disposed of after use, or washed regularly if you’re using homemade masks. Steve Korris of the Madison-St. Clair Record questions whether Kilbride’s opinion allowed Madigan’s power to go unchecked. Zahm hopes Vote No Kilbride 2020 PAC is more successful than its 2010 iteration. Supreme Court justices need 60 percent of the vote to be retained. In 2010, Kilbride received not quite 66 percent. The GOP politico says he’s put $500 of his own money into the PAC and he expects to run his anti-Kilbride campaign as a grassroots effort with signs and speaking engagements. Zahm’s twin sons, Daniel and Jonah, were born when Kilbride was first elected in 2000 and the boys took part in parades and put up signs with their dad during the last campaign.
